I ended up ordering the same butterfly needles they used the past 2 times from Amazon. A pack of 50 cost $27. I should have gone straight to Midgarden. They charge $38 for propofol and $200 for the surgery, which includes cephalexin and trazodone. I'm in over $100 these past 2 visits and his ear is still filled with fluid.

Dr Hiegel didn't offer any real knowledge, for even the most basic questions. I asked her about dog food and she said she doesn't know what kinds are out there. She barely touched my dog and didn't seem to want to spend the time on the exam. I saw what seemed to be a daycare dog standing out in the rain the whole time I was there (it didn't look like it was enjoying it). The entryway is crowded and the front area staff never seem very interested in helping anyone. Everyone is nice, I just think this vet is very overpriced for mediocre care and lack of true engagement from the staff.

When we have had to call for illnesses, etc...it always seems to be the same woman that answers the phone. She is the reason we have decided to leave. Our labrador recently had a bowel obstruction. He suddenly began vomiting large amounts of poop one Thursday evening. I called the vet first thing in the morning at 8 AM, when they were supposed to be open. No one answered until 8:20 AM. The receptionist sounded like I had woken her up and very put out that I was bothering her. I explained that the dog was vomiting poop, would not eat a single bite, would not drink, hadn't pooped that day and didn't really want to get up at all. She said the doctors weren't in yet and she would call me back. At 8:45 AM I got a call back. She offered an appointment at noon, but I felt he could not wait until noon and asked if I should just take him to an emergency vet somewhere? I felt I had to plead my case as to why it was an emergency that he be seen right away. I told her I was concerned he had a bowel obstruction. The receptionist finally, after going back-and-forth with the doctors, begrudgingly agreed to let us bring him in. After that, the entire visit was stressful because we felt like we had forced them to see him. He did have a bowel obstruction and had to have surgery. We were happy with the physicians and their interactions with us and his treatment. He seemed like he had recovered well until he began having the same exact symptoms two weeks later. I called and it was the same receptionist Who answered. Speaking like I woke her up and she's annoyed that I am trying to make an appointment. She does not seem to care about animals at all. When asking questions she has to put you on hold and ask the doctor, which is fine, but I have a hard time believing that the doctor knew that he was vomiting poop again after having bowel surgery for an obstruction, and was not concerned. During this particular conversation, I explained that he had just had surgery two weeks ago and was having the same exact symptoms as before. I asked if it was OK if I gave him some nausea medicine or if they recommended I didn't? She said the doctor said I could give him the nausea medicine but if he puked again to bring him back in. That was at 3 o'clock. I gave him the nausea medicine and he vomited immediately after so I called back and told the receptionist what had happened. At this point it was 3:40 so the receptionist didn't offer for me to bring him in because they close at 4. I asked if the doctor knew that he was vomiting poop? And she said "yes, I told them last time you called." I asked if they were concerned that he could have a twisted bowel after the surgery he had and she said "no, that hardly ever happens in dogs, but I'm no doctor." I don't know about dogs, but in humans a twisted or obstructed bowel can be life threatening. I said, "if he continues to vomit like this throughout the night should I just come first thing in the morning? And she said she had an opening at 11." So if anything surgical needs to be done, he would have to go to a different vet because they close at noon. Because of this one receptionist, we decided to start going to a different veterinarian. I don't wanna have to feel like I have to plead my case as to why my dog needs to be seen, especially when I know that it's an emergency. It is very disappointing because we like the doctors. I actually felt guilty like we had forced them to see our dog. And he probably would be dead if I hadn't. luckily This is the only time we've had an emergency. But the few times I have had to have them seen for illness over the years. It's often been the same receptionist and it's just not worth the stress when we can easily go somewhere else

They gave the med's even though my mom wasn't able to bring her in which was so amazing. Putting the dogs comfort first. we brought here in immediately when we returned back. years later it was time to say goodbye to our baby . She had been paralyzed for years and was suffering. They made it that hard heart breaking day as easy as it could be. They sent us a thoughtful card and wild flowers to plant as a remembrance. the only thing i don't like about this place is since covid you can't come in with your pet. When it's saying goodbye to your pet visit of course they let you come in. They have you come in the side door.

Back when we could go in to the building, the place was always tidy, the rooms were painted welcoming colors and the staff was always friendly to our pet, and us and that's how it should be. They are here to help them deal with whatever and explain to us what might be going on. Commend them on this. Now we pull in, if they don't come out immediately, we just call the number, give them our dogs name and the spot # we are parked at. It's a little odd but it is what it is. Hopefully this virus thing will be over soon and we can get back to normal.

They acted like they were too busy or not willing to see my dog because I didn't have records available (dog was rescued from someone who couldn't keep her). I was really shocked and upset with the treatment. No one likes to feel they are being a problem when they just want to help a pet. Didn't seem to fit the personality of a true Miamisburg Viking. Shame on them.

Outstanding Team all around!…read more This wasn't our regular vet but, due to a tick bite, we needed to get to a vet ASAP and didn't want to go to an emergency vet. I began searching the area an calling around as our normal vet office couldn't get us in for days. Monroe Family Pet Hospital was able to get us in same day. The process was pretty simple. Walk in, check in and wait to be called in. Very friendly environment and not at all stressful for the four legged one. The staff could not have been sweeter or easy to work with. We went in, talked about what happened and some of the symptoms that we'd noticed. They put our dog on a few medications and we were on our way. After the visit, they even called to follow up and see how she was coming and long and suggested a follow up visit if we needed anything. Everything worked out so we didn't go in for the follow up visit. Would I go back? I would, actually. We had a unique situation where our neighbor was one of the lead veterinarian's at our primary vet office. This made things a little more easy and convenient. Additionally, we trusted her and she spoke highly of the office. Recently, she left that particular office for another opportunity. We never had any problems there but Monroe Family Pet Hospital really impressed me. Enough to where I am definitely planning to go back again.

All staff was very understanding and went out of their way to answer any questions and advise us. Along the same lines, we never felt that we were being 'sold' extra unnecessary expensive treatment that we are quite sure we would have through our old vet. We drove 40 minutes each way for every appointment and need our dog had and passed many other vets along the way, Well worth the trip. When we get our next dog, we'll be back!
