I really don't understand why the negative reviews, and so I'm adding my own honest one. My medium rare 16oz rib eye steak & grilled shrimp surf n turf combo were some of the best I've ever had. The sautéed veggies were also an amazing side and has complimented the combo tremendously. I didn't need to use steak sauce at all to cherish the red meat. A small slice at a time plus a little veggie forkful was all it took to have this 5-star taste experience. Add tasty grilled shrimp to palate next. The ambience was great although I think I am starting to get too old for the volume of music at amazing joints like this. I should know better coz it's a sports bar. But I'm fine nonetheless. I heard that their signature Margherita pizza is the star of the show. I should have that next year when I come back to Gonzales. Kayleigh, my server, was top notch. Incredible experience being in downtown Gonzales TX for the first time. A rain storm took me here by destiny. God is good coz I was able to find a church downtown for 4pm worship, then after that while waiting for the rain storm to diminish, gave me the best excuse to have early dinner at this amazing historic restaurant -- I believe a well-deserved stopover after a tiring but fruitful time teaching Redemption at my 8th Royal Rangers PowWow in Halletsville. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon just to check things out. Sports were on the TV, nothing was crazy going on. My wife and I were able to talk. I think the atmosphere is great. You can tell someone took so time putting this place together. The sever was out standing. We only had chips and salsa so I cannot speak to the food however it is a very impressive menu. read more

Great little bar on the downtown square in Gonzales. Definitely worth visiting if you're just taking a weekend road trip to check out the Texas countryside and the authentic little towns in Texas. This is a historic downtown and this bar is the namesake. We like the pizza.... Particularly the margarita and the Hawaiian. Also the surf and turf and the beef fajitas are really good. The drinks are definitely add a little bit of a flare and I think you will enjoy swinging in here sitting in the air conditioning if you're touring around the downtown square. read more

There was a group of us that came in and sat ourselves. We waited for 15 minutes. Other tables came in and were waited on while we still didn't get service. After 20 minutes of waiting we finally walked out. Mind you the waitresses were sitting there staring at us when they weren't avoiding eye contact and pretending they didn't see us . So I don't recommend going here with a large group of people. I don't appreciate walking into a business and being ignored. read more

Gonzales TX has lots of terrific places to eat. The Come and Take Bar is good but falls short of terrific. The service is fair; the night we visited the bar, it was packed and it seemed short staffed. It took several tries to get our order right. We finally settled for "close enough." We like our burgers a little pink but gave up on that requirement after a few tries. The location is convenient to downtown window shopping and parking was relatively easy to find. read more

Husband and I stopped in here on Saturday afternoon, place was pretty crowded. We waited a bit for a waitress to show up, she took our drink orders. Brought our drinks and took our food order. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad the husband ordered the sub sandwich. It took a little over 40 minutes for a salad and a sandwich. I understand they were busy but the wait was ridiculous for such simple food. Then to get the check and get it paid took forever.... probably would not stop in here again. read more

Food was great. Service was terrible. Our waitress "left for break" after taking our order and never showed back up. No one ever came back to wait on us. We had to stop someone to ask about our order then our appetizers and salads showed up all at the same time as our meal because there was no one to know that we had ordered appetizers and salads. We had to ask for to go boxes and then had to wait FOREVER for our tickets to be straightened out. It was a mess and no one seemed to care that we were a forgotten table. Stop to rest in Gonzales Tx and seen the Bar & Grill (Come and Take it). My wife and I decided to have a quick snack, some hot wings, calamari and a cold . This was my second time to this place, and I was more impressed this time than last. This time, I wasn't in the mood for a burger or a steak, so I went with two appetizers - the cheese sticks and the bone-in wings. No problem whatsoever with the wings. They were "naked" with traditional Buffalo sauce - nothing fancy, but it was good - and exactly what I was looking for. Now, about those cheese sticks - they probably came right outta the freezer and onto my plate. They were definitely not made in-house. Came here for dinner after work. Took 15 minutes just get drink orders in, and the waitress didn't even bother to take food order. 15 min later and she came back with drinks and took the food order. 1 hour and 30 minutes after we arrived we're still waiting on our food. Drinks have been refilled only once. This place isn't busy either. There is only 4 tables with people at them. Nobody has bothered to stop by to give updates or anything. I'm usually pretty patient but this is unacceptable. I will not be coming back here and I would suggest you skip this place. read more

Nobody was wearing a mask in the entire place. It is currently required by law, as instituted by Greg Abbott, for businesses to wear masks in counties with more than 20 cases. Gonzales county has more than 20 cases. Besides that, I stood at the counter to pick up an order for more than 5 minutes before somebody finally addressed me or even acknowledged me, AND they didn't give me one of the items we ordered. Food's good, but the service and blatant disregard for health and safety during a global pandemic doesn't get this place more than one star. read more

The service was good, the beer cold (and a decent selection if not huge), and the brick oven pizza was as good as any in Austin or San Antonio. This is definitely a bar and grill. Lots of TVs, bar atmosphere and a very friendly staff. We came in early for a Saturday lunch and the place was clean and the service outstanding. Our drinks were cold, the house Chardonnay was tasty and our food was good. I had the Come and Take It Salad with spinach shrimp feta cheese and black olives. It was fresh, crispy, healthy and yummy. My husband had the sub with French fries. He liked it but it was a lot of bread and only the bread was toasted. It would have been better as a hot sandwich. The service is really bad. The place was barely full and our waitress took very long to even bring water, i had to ask twice. We ordered beer and the bottles we got had expired two months ago. Our food took over an hour to come out. Then when the pizza came out it was completely wrong. We ordered a supreme pizza with no olives, and only half with anchovies. It finally came out and was half anchovies, half olives. And nothing but cheese. Nothing supreme about it. Also they ran out of silverware and as i said before, it was barely full. At one point the table next to us cheered when the waitress brought their pitcher of beer because it took forever. One of the bathroom stalls had a broken toilet and there was no sign posted, so that was bad. UPDATE: since we were so mad and just wanted to pay and leave, we didn't see that they had charged us for a 2-topping pizza when we only got a cheese pizza. And they also included the tip because the group was over six people. read more

Burger was fine. Nothing fabulous. The bun is a regular H-E-B bun. I would have liked a homemade bun for $8.99. The onion rings were ok. My hubby had the fajitas. He said they were a little tough.
