I was searching for activities to take my kids for a long weekend and came across this. It was the day of so I called and left a message. Someone returned my call right away and provided EXCELLENT service. She answered all my questions and was able to get me a reservation for that same day on top be being extremely friendly. We arrived earlier than the opening time (suggest putting a bench outside the waiting area-for seniors and children). We were checked in an seated in no time. It was a small stage but it didn't hinder the show performance we received. They engaged the audience and kept us laughing throughout the night. Pianist was on point! There was enough food and drink options to satisfy everyone's taste. This is definitely family friendly. Myself, my parents as well as my kids all enjoyed the show. Keep up the great work! I was looking for something to do with my daughter (12 going on 30) and I attended Saturday night's improv comedy show in Ocean Grove, N.J. and we both loved it! It was fun, different, audience interactive and and most importantly, family friendly ( good clean fun). It was so much more than I expected! Me and my daughter, who's extremely hard to please, laughed throughout the show which ran about 90 mins. She even asked if we could go again! Improvised comedy as a competitive sport. Often very funny. This show is distinguished from much of the improv in NYC because it is FAMILY FRIENDLY - you can bring the kids. I don't care for all the sports trappings (they even sing the national anthem at the beginning), but some people find it adds to the fun. The shows are currently just on Saturdays at 6pm (shows run about 90 minutes), but the schedule has varied over the years. There is a 2-drink minimum. Can be sodas or whatever. read more

I love good comedy, and especially good improvisational comedy. I've been lucky enough to see the Comedy Store Players in London several times, who really are just amazing. Having said that, I highly recommend seeing ComedySportz New York! They frame the show as a sports competition, with two teams duking it out for the win. They have a rotating cast of players, and I don't think I've seen one fall down on the job. They make you laugh!!! Just got back home from the ComedySportz improv show and I must say it was amazing. I went in there with a bit of doubt thinking it was going to be boring or corny but I was very surprised. The energy was great, the show was stimulating the whole time and the teams were very educated in what they were doing. I definitely recommend to anyone who has the chance to go see this. I was their last saturday night with a group of friends,we loved the show!! If you like improv you have to try this! - if you don't know improv it's a good place to see your first one! The 'players' were hilarious and all the stall was really nice. This show is all based on the performance of the improv players and you! (you will give suggestions to the players etc) So be prepared to participate! The place is small and a bit on the old side but was all packed that night. read more

I attended a 6 pm show on April 15 and had a blast. The visiting team from Portland was outstanding. And the home team was hilarious (except for the groaners). (I still can't believe someone guessed Karl Marx during one round!) I would recommend checking out a show with one caveat: It's ridiculously hot so dress appropriately! You will laugh. read more

The show was great and really fun for our whole family - we loved it and so did our four kids - from 11 through 18 years old. The whole cast, as well as the woman who greeted us at the front entrance, were energetic, welcoming, and funny. A wonderful way to spend an evening out with the family. read more

Before our final Improvisation Competition, I took my 7th grade students on a field trip to see the Comedy Sportz performance! One of my students was brought on stage, and they used lots of audience suggestions throughout the games. The kids loved being so much a part of the show!--so funny!--and such a good time! As a mom of a toddler, I don't get to go out as much as I'd like. But the early hour, kid friendly and fun atmosphere...this is a win win. Drinks, food ....and it's funny! Easy to find, easy and crowd involvement for parties. I definitely recommend as a start to your night. read more

What a great time. Reasonably priced comedy and fun for the whole family. The show is fast-paced, and the sports-theme really keeps it moving and adds a different element not seen in all improv. Do yourself a favor: Go see this show! Then tell everyone you know to go see it, and then go see it AGAIN! That's what I plan on doing. Now if you don't wanna be cool like me, suit yourself. But I promise you, if you pass this up you will be missing out on some incredibly awesome fun the whole family can enjoy. I took my 8 year old daughter, her 9 year old best friend, her friend's 7 year old cousin and their grandmother and we all had an absolute BLAST! The venue is very intimate and they sat us right in front, which was fantastic, although there are no bad seats in the place. My group had the only kids at the show, which I worried about at first (not because of show content because it is made clear right away that the show is good clean family fun, but because I didn't want other audience members feeling that the kids would distract from their good time), but everyone from the staff to the performers made them feel so comfortable and welcome. They included them in the show throughout the night, and my daughter's best friend even got to join the actors onstage for one of the games. The referee is fantastic, keeping the energy up and the show flowing by getting the whole audience involved with the games. The announcer was hilarious, as were all the performers, and the music was great! We didn't want the show to end. Not only will we be back but my daughter also wants to book Comedy Sportz for her birthday in November. Very well done guys! I'm so happy that I've found such a gem right here in our neighborhood. We went here with my two sons (aged 9 and 10) and we enjoyed it. It was indeed an all-ages show (nothing inappropriate) but I would say that any kids in attendance need to be old enough to appreciate the humor, play on words, etc. Mine were about the right age for that, and as parents, we enjoyed it too! Highly recommended. I think we would do this again next time we are in NYC. read more

Great family friendly comedy show. I do like the sports competition aspect of this. I think that adds to the overall quality of the show. It's a great night of fun and the actors are excellent. Our family always loved Whose Line on TV and these folks are just as good as that. I have attended 3 shows at Comedy Sportz and each one has been fantastic!! I also enrolled in their Improv 101 class; my instructor was Mike G. & he "changed my life!!" The class was awesome and I really learned a lot about myself and it has helped me feel more comfortable in my own skin. I still take my job very seriously, but I do not take myself too seriously any more. I would recommend the class to anyone looking for a fun and interesting way to spend a few hours of their time. read more
