Went to see Godfrey this week! Very organized getting in. The have staff waiting to take you to your seat after you check in. Had a great experience attending their show with Nikki Glaser, Caitlyn Peluffo, and Jeff Arcuri and more on July 7. We arrived 15 min early which gave us time to use the restroom, figure out drinks, and order before the show started. 2 drink minimum which is expected but they were regularly priced, $9 beers, for a show. All comics were hilarious but Jeff Arcuri definitely stole the show. read more

Cramped venue, sticky floors, surprisingly good food and some of THE FUNNIEST comics we've seen over the last 15 years in NYC. We went for my birthday weekend last November, and the line-up did not disappoint. It was an All-Star night, and they were definitely all stars. I can't remember the last time I went to a comedy show where every comic had me laughing so hard that my face hurt when I left the show. There is a 2 drink minimum, but we don't drink so we got bottled water and sodas. I felt bad, the tables and walking area is quite cramped and I saw the servers almost trip on feet a couple of times, but they are pros and were calm and collected about it. The food was surprisingly good. We shared two apps and they both came out hot and fresh and I was glad they didn't taste like they came out of the freezer etc. I would definitely go back. I'm an idiot and I accidentally bought tickets to the wrong day. I showed up to a sold out show and they were so very nice and let my friend and I stand by in case there were any no shows. They transferred my tickets, seated us, and were incredibly welcoming. Note that everyone must meet a minimum $20 spend on food or drink once you enter. Even though I grew up near Gotham Comedy Club, I never went to a show there until this past weekend. I found out that I comedian that I really like was going to be performing during the 7pm line-up and I was quick to buy tickets for my husband and I. We arrived about 15 minutes before show time. Some guests had already arrived and were enjoying their drinks. The table service was attentive and we enjoyed the show. The only thing that I personally didn't like was that the wait staff taking orders during the show was distracting because even though they whisper, it still loud when the only other person talking is the comedian on stage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We've had our fair share of hearty laughs and when the crowd has a good energy it only elevates the experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Keep in mind that there is a two drink minimum which is not an issue because they have a decent selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, and even food selection to snack on, and the service staff does an awesome job of checking in on you without interrupting you too much during the show. We went for an 8pm classic All-Stars show during the week and could not have been more pleased. The female host was HILARIOUS and offered the perfect palate cleanse between each comic. It was $20 for a 2 hour show with a two drink minimum and we reserved our seats online in advanced. I booked only a couple of hours before the show at what could be considered the "nose bleeds" in a back corner. The upside to this was that we had our own table (smallest table seats 4) and with a little more space from the other surrounding tables. Plus, the farther tables ensured we were safe from any potential roasts! There were not any TV screens to showcase the comics during each act, but the acoustics were crisp. We definitely got in our best laugh that night! The two drink minimum might cause some grumbling for some, but thankfully they had a decently priced local lager and IPA. A downside would be that the tables in the central part of the room are cramped. If you need to use the restroom mid-show, then you're going to be climbing through a lot of feet just to get to the other side of the room to exit. It would be helpful if there was another exit to the bathrooms on the opposing side of the room (where we were sitting). Either way, this is a mainstay comedy club in NYC that is a must visit! Plus, if you're lucky, someone famous might drop in for the show! read more

This was a great night! Came here last Sunday and it was a really nice time all the way around. Street parking was easy... very clean, comedians were off the chain! Surprised to see Michael Che come out... he was hilarious, as were all of the others.. Service was quick and pleasant. Don't eat the food. The shows are getting worse and worse. They usually have a warm up comic plus five performers. Tonight's warm up was annoying and not funny. I attended the "All-Star Comedy Line-up" last night, on Friday, September 23rd at 7:30 PM, and the only thing funny was that I had to pay money to see those comedians. One of the comedians, Alex Babbitt, had NO material prepared. He got on stage, said he was really tired and didn't feel like doing a set that night. He then pulled out his phone and tried to look up things to talk about. It was extremely uncomfortable for everyone in the room, least of all Mr. Babbitt. Do the club owners or management watch the shows? If they don't, I highly recommend they speak with the servers, bartenders, security, etc. that worked the 7:30 PM show on Friday, September 23rd because it was atrocious, and that guy should never be paid to do stand-up comedy in this city again. read more

Cool little comedy club. Comics were okay to great which is what I would expect, comics gotta work on their bits, so you won't always get their best. We left with quite a few punchlines we were repeating and that's almost always a good sign. Waitresses were hustling and getting food and drinks at a fair clip. My complaint was for a place with a 2 drink minimum (no problem) their drinks felt pretty timid with no one at the table getting a decent comedy show buzz. At $30+ for each person at the table I was hoping for a little more. Ultimately I still feel okay about the price of admission, I had a great time. read more

This was fine for a fun night out but not top notch comedy club vibes. The inside was very sterile with little character. Solid color drywall, basic carpet, very hotel conference room vibes. The comics were just OK. The guest comic was the best. One was downright bad and had little more to say than stating facts of life. Also, being crass or dirty doesn't automatically make you funny. You still need a punchline. There was a very large, obnoxious party of like 15 people who took up the entire front and seemed to be trying too hard for attention. We had a school fundraiser at Gotham. Kris, their head of events, was phenomenal. He was easy to work with and the evening of the show was great! The waitresses were pleasant and service was super. My group of 4 got tickets earlier in the week for a Saturday show and had a really great time! Like with all comedy clubs, the level of funny will totally depend on the comedians of the night. The night we went they pretty good. No one that I would make plans to see again, but still good. Did I fall off my seat laughing? No. Did I laugh pretty hard a couple times? Yes, there were for sure some hearty laughs. The place itself is huge, although you will be crowded into a small table with the rest of your friends. But, that is to be expected it is NYC after all. The staff was all really friendly and came around often to see if we needed anything else. I don't think there is really a bad table in the joint, so don't worry about that when booking tickets. Be sure to bring proof of vaccination because they will check at the door. After they checked tickets someone led us to our seats and showed us where to scan to see the drink and food menu. Came here for an early valentines date night with my fiancé and it was laughs on laughs on laughs . I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time and the coolest thing is that you get to pick your seat . If you're a couple just know you will be sharing the table with another couple as each table is mainly for 4. We honestly didn't mind it and actually ended up making friends with the couple in our table who happened to be from out of town . Make sure you know that the price you pay for the show does not include the two drink minimum - the other cool thing is , it does not need to be an alcoholic drink can be soft drinks coffee or tea . Great venue. Not for the social distancer. Seats are super crammed, very hard, uncomfortable and you are sharing tables with strangers. The comedians and the vibe were great. I did not try their food, but it looked like it came from a late night menu at Applebee's. The drinks were not weak but could definitely have been stronger. The two drink min can be non-alcoholic as well. The service is very assembly line so don't expect to get much service after ordering your second drink. (Order your 3rd while ordering the second) 4 stars only because Gotham Comedy Club knows what they got. A great venue that makes you laugh and have a great night.
