I never had a problem getting items out of our safety deposit box until today. After 1-1/2 hrs. of non-help and the person who was supposed to assist me would go into the back office and not come out for 30 minutes while he researched my account, I left. A week later, the bank informed me that they needed a doctor's certification proving that my father couldn't go to the bank in person. (At the same time, I handled the same request with Chase Bank, Bank of America, and Citi Bank. The first two banks processed it on the same day, and Citi Bank took one week.) So, I provided a hospital admission certificate for my father. Another week later, the bank notified me that without a doctor's signature, they couldn't proceed. I then provided the doctor's signature from when my father was admitted. A week later, the bank informed me that the doctor didn't specifically state that my father was unable to handle transactions, so they couldn't process it. I provided a hospital statement indicating that my father was hospitalized and wouldn't be discharged soon. A week later, the bank staff informed me that their manager, Alan Lam, refused to proceed and insisted on a specific note from the doctor stating that my father couldn't handle any financial matters. To date, five weeks have passed, and the matter is still unresolved. This experience makes me feel that the bank manager, Alan Lam, does not care about customer needs or state laws. He only seems to enjoy the pleasure of rejecting customer requests and the power he holds. If other banks can handle the same matter within a day, why does it take more than a month here? When employees feel comfortable ignoring customers, that starts at the top. Other Wells Fargo locations handle things professionally. This one does not. And wait times are minimal, depending on the day and time of course. My biggest complaint (thus the 3 stars) is that it can take what feels like forever to access your safe deposit box. First you have to wait around until an employee comes out and asks what you need. Then you have to wait again until someone can assist you. Then you wait yet again while they take your ID to confirm you have a box. And then you'll probably get a pitch to upgrade your credit card or refinance your home before they FINALLY escort you to your box. What should literally take 5 minutes can take as long as 30 minutes, so be prepared to wait.
