Very unprofessional. Previously we were happy with our sons' visits for a check up/cleaning, however when we called to make appointments for my husband and myself, they were booked 8 months out or more. Oh well, we decided that was okay and booked our appointments for November. Today (October 30th) my husband said that the building looked different or had different signage out front. So he called to confirm that they were still in business and was informed they no longer accept our dental insurance and they claimed they had sent a letter. We didn't receive any letter. And a phone call should have accompanied any such letter, anyway. If you scroll through the reviews, you will see that this seems to be a pattern with this clinic. Nightmare experience for an entire year. $37,500 for full mouth restoration. Ran out of material multiple times, ran to the dentist next door to borrow material. Moved me to another location. Nitrous oxide given by dental assistant incorrectly which caused me to stop breathing & they didn?t notice. My husband told them. I began seizing. Paramedics were dispatched. He shoved temporary crowns on my teeth as they were preparing to take me to the ER. Four weeks later, severe abdominal pain. Unknowingly, I had ingested the temporary crown material which perforated my intestines. Had my entire abdomen opened to retrieve it. 8 additional weeks off of work which cost me my nursing management job. I have multiple shades of bulky, painful teeth. Lost 27 lbs and can?t gain because I can?t eat. Another $12,000 in medical bills, loan has been paid for a year yet all gas gone to interest only. Now, had to pay $500 to obtain a lawyer to fight him in court. Run!! I signed to have work with Dr Turley then he moved me to Comfort Dental where the nitrous oxide issue occurred. I've been going here for the last two years with my Dad and we've both had great experiences. My Dad had to get a crown and Dr Hockin was able to get it done and do a gold crown as well which was pretty cool. I've also had quite a few fillings done here and they've all turned out great with no issues. i can't say enough about Dr. Craig Smith. i'm 49 and had many bad experiences with dental work but since i started with Comfort Dental 7 years ago i have felt safe. Dr. Craig Smith had remembered me even when i was lacking in checking in every 6 months. This clinic is so exceptional and finds ways to make sure you save money. i used to be assigned to Bright Now and every time I went I had a new Dentist which never helped me feel comfortable or heard. i rave to all my co-workers about this clinic which has made it hard to get appointments but it's well worth the wait!! This was my third time going there. First two were for cleaning the third was for a crown and possibly a root canal. Turns out my tooth was fractured and needed to be pulled. Got that done and a cavity filled and was out in less than an hour. The do quality work, believe me I have had some major dental work done and these guys are a real class act. This is a warning for senior citizens. These dentists are only interested in making money from elderly people. They don't listen when you talk and don't answer questions. Their computers are in front of their face and they don't look at you when you're paying your bill or scheduling an appointment. They don't follow up with you. They are rude and abrupt. I am not very happy with Craig Smiths Dental office right now. they seem to have a problem with keeping their appointments. last time I was in was last May. They made an appointment to see me again in November. I got a call from them, about a week from the appointment, cancelling, and the soonest they could book me was next JULY! EIGHT MONTHS FROM NOW! So now I won't have a cleaning in over a year. And the receptionist responded to me like it was MY FAULT because I didn't call back when they first called me, last week. I could hear the Dentist talking and joking with everyone in the dental procedure area, but they seemed to be either unaware that i was waiting or that since i wasn't actually sitting in the chair having a procedure performed to give any consideration. What i found odd is that everyone was referring to the dentist(s) as Doctor, when in fact, they are not doctors, they are dentists. I didn't see any medial doctor degrees on the wall or any PhD diplomas. I think they are full of themselves at that office, and decided that if there were any future complications with zirk plus crowns then my first impression was that if you are not having an an actual procedure done to put money in their pockets then you are low priority. Best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Plus, they didn't even bother to call and follow up to ask why i left. They pretty much just blew me off. I should also mention that i was a new patient and had just had my teeth cleaned the week before at their facility. I will not go back to this place again. read more

The dentist was a cool guy, used the sonic scaler, which was way better than just floss. Satisfied with service. I first met Dr. Hockin, when he was practicing at the Parkland location. A few months later, I had to make another appointment and was advised that he relocated, so, I took my chances with the new dentist for a crown. The result was so much pain. I developed an abscess, which delayed getting my permanent crown for a few more weeks. After that fiasco, I inquired where Dr. Hockin relocated to and found out he was practicing at the North Tacoma clinic. The next time I needed work done, I scheduled my appointment with Dr. Hockin and had a much better experience. Since then, I have continued to see him, because I have had a lot more work done on my teeth, for the past 5 years. Even though the Parkland location is a 5 minute drive from my home, I choose to drive 30 minutes, to see Dr. Hockin. He is the best! Always extremely thorough and fast, but not rushed. He just knows his stuff and is really, really good at his job! read more

My wife went here today for a simple cleaning. 2 hours after her scheduled appointment she was done with the "cleaning". Her teeth were not clean. The polishing was incomplete, the flossing was not done, the people were rude. Not recommended. read more

Got a 5 star experience here! Due to the lack of reviews and what appeared to be bad ones, I was skeptical of this place at first. I'm new to the area and needed to find a dentist on medicaid, and they were one of the few near me that did. When I met with Dr. Ball, he was very kind and understanding, and did a fast and thorough cleaning. I came back another day for three fillings, which were quick, painless and efficient. I needed a crown, and signed up for care credit, and even then because of my limited funds, Dr Ball gave me a discount of only $700, and the day I got my crown I had a whole team of dentists working on my tooth. The experience was very accommodating, and they really took my feelings into consideration if I showed any sign of pain or discomfort. Will be coming back again for the permanent crown soon, and I expect nothing but the best from them. So if you're looking here, I recommend Dr. Ball. read more

Just saw Dr. Smith and he was very knowledgeable, skilled, and super accommodating to my severe anxiety issues. My last Dentist told me I needed a root canal and it turns out the crown just needed grinded down a smidge to even out the bite. Can you imagine if I had sat for a long root canal for nothing! I love being in the middle of treatment plan and then they drop your insurance. What a wonderful business! /endsarcasm This happened to me at two different locations. The one on Pearl and the one on Pacific. Shows how very little they care about their patients. One on Pearl told me that because I was in the middle of a plan, he would continue to see me until it was done...then said "adios!" after the next appointment, and my treatment wasn't finished. As for the one on Pacific, I needed to get in because a pulled tooth site wasn't healing correctly, and that's when they decided to tell me they dropped my insurance. read more

I have been going here for the last two years and they are seriously perfect! Anytime I call in to schedule an appointment, they get me in as soon as possible (not 3 weeks later like the rest). The staff inside are some of the nicest people in the world. They are also professional and I never have to repeat myself. Every procedure completed at this location was perfect and I've had no complaints yet. They are always able to work around my busy schedule as well which is very important. I went in for a simple exam and X-rays, and I was so pleasantly surprised with the service I received. Doctor Matt Hockin went above and beyond for me. I ended up getting a deep cleaning as well & he repaired my front tooth. He did treatments on me that other doctors were too scared to do--which disappointed me because I wanted a pretty smile. My husband, kids and I LOVE the staff at this office! They let us make appts all together and we can all go back and be seen at the same time so the office visit is shorter than everyone going at different times. Dr. Hockin, the assistants, and hygienists are so friendly! Always chatting with me and making my kids feel comfortable. Office staff was rude and unprofessional and the assistiants had side conversations over the top of me while working on my mouth. Dr. Smith was excellent and friendly, however the office staff and Dr. Ball are not kind when you would like to switch from one provider to another. Jan '14- Had significant tooth pain and problems with a tooth Dr Crossen put a large filling in. First time I called I was told it's probably bruised (xrays showed nothing) and to check back if it still hurts after another few weeks. When I called back in a few weeks because the pain had gotten WORSE I was told that they don't take my dental insurance any longer and wouldn't be able to see me. Umm maybe I'm wrong here but shouldn't THEY have followed up with a tooth THEY worked on to begin with?!?!?! 11/6/14 further follow-up...went in to my new dentist to have a root canal done on this same tooth that has been causing me problems for several months after Dr Crossen's filling. The tooth was causing me so much pain they realized it was cracked at the root which could not be seen on x-ray (but dentist gathered from the significant pain I was in even numb). Ended up having 3 rounds of antibiotics and oral surgery to remove the tooth. Due to such excruciating pain I ended up in after months of having a tooth cracked at the root from Dr Crossen's filling, visits to urgent care, CT scan done, ENT visits thinking it was sinuses, sadly I had to drop my college classes this quarter. But the kicker is, now that I know that all along it was this same tooth I had been trying to get back into Dr Crossen's office to be seen for, I decided to call and tell the Dr of the pain I've endured (because the "gate keeper" wouldn't let me in after they stopped taking my insurance) but he didn't even return my call!!! He again had the office gal call when I asked if she was the office manager she said no all the office gals are office managers. I said I want to speak to the Dr then. All he did was make excuses for the employee who turned me away from being seen rather than to just apologize & oh I don't know maybe say he'll make sure everyone in the office knows the proper protocols for patients calling with pain from a tooth they did work on. read more

After having a REALLY bad experience with Bright NOW! Dental, resulting in needing a root canal for my 17 yr old daughter, we found Comfort Dental. She was leaving for a trip to Europe in a week, and not only did they work us in, in one day, they didn't even charge us for the first two visits, as we couldn't switch them to our insurance for a couple of weeks! Dr Crossen scheduled her for the root canal within a few days, as opposed to weeks out for the OTHER place. He did an amazing job, His receptionist called to check on her, and Dr Crossen himself called that night to check on her too! What great service in this age of "fast food dentistry". We will gladly make the drive from Buckley to Tacoma for this office! I highly recommend them. read more

I made an appointment for my son the last week of June. At that time, Comfort was not taking our dental plan but the appointment desk stated that they would be again by late July. She selected an opening for his appointment in Aug. before he would leave for college. Today was my son's appointment. Upon arriving at Comfort Dental he was told they could not see him. They stated they were taking our insurance, but were no longer taking it. They further stated that they had removed his appointment from they calendar, and his information from their system. When my son called me upon leaving Comfort Dental, I call the office myself. The front desk person stated that yes, they had taken our insurance, but were not taking it now. I asked why I was told another tale all together? She said she didn't know. I then asked why no one had bothered to contact us, and let us know of the change. She assured me they had. I shared that my cell phone number was the contact number that was originally associated with our deleted file, and I had received NO calls and NO messages about any changes nor cancellation to my son's appointment. My entire family goes here. We all love the service and the dentist is awesome. I have an awful time having dental work done, have had some terrible experiences and have bad anxiety but they work with me and I don't get as scared anymore. I enjoy the office, it is clean, the office staff is very welcoming and all the dentists seem awesome. My parents avoided the dentist as well but even enjoy going here just as much as I do. Ive seen both Dr Ball & Smith. Dr Ball has been doing my cleanings for over 2years now & Dr Smith recently placed bridges on me. I was a little nervous bcs i am young & always thought only "elderly people" have bridges. I am super happy with his work, they look so natural and would never guess its a bridge. The front staff is super nice & professional. The assistants are sweet & friendly.
