Called Comfort Heating for a repair as they installed the system new three years ago. Salesman sold us a labor warranty (part of their "special" of a 5yr warranty OR a special filtration system OR a Nest thermostat), but he never registered our warranty. The office claims they have no record of the transaction. Anyhow........ Outdoor heat pump was freezing over. Replacement part was covered under warranty and the quote to replace (labor only) was $850. Took the technician LESS THAN AN HOUR to replace the free part (turned out to be a fan motor). Watched it all on my Ring cameras. He didn't even secure the wiring harness in a way that would seal out the elements. (See photo) No way that amount of time was worth $850 -no special equipment used, no special training/experience needed. They couldn't make money on a parts markup, so they turned their scam onto the labor in the middle of winter (after having the gall to claim it was a heavily discounted price! --see photo). Purely predatory. Untrustworthy, no integrity, certainly NOT putting the customer first but definitely predatory behaviour upon a family who trusted them. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I only gave this company a one star because I couldn't give zero. They installed an Electric Mitsubishi ductless mini-split system at my house in 2018. Looking back, there were red flags from the beginning, but I didn't know that at the time. When you call for service, you don't speak to anyone that comes out to your house- you get an answering service. Overtime, I began to get frustrated- they wouldn't show up within the 4 hour window without any communication, some of the guys that came had NO CLUE about my system, it seemed they would slap a band-aid on the problem without actually fixing it, etc, etc. The final straw came when my AC went out early this spring. I tried to have them out THREE times in a week. The first time, it rained. Okay, can't work in the rain, I get it. Paid 120 for no service. Told the company would be in touch, but I didn't hear, so I called and set up a second appointment. I requested a senior technician as they seemed to be the ONLY ones to know my system, and the guy that called had been on the job four 4 months- so we scheduled for the guy I wanted to come out the next morning. I cancelled my plans just for him to not show up on time, and by the time he did, it was once again raining! Apparently they don't work in the rain, so final strike. Told him I was finding a different company. Not only did I have a different company diagnose and install a new system within a week, but in the process of taking down my old system, they discovered that Comfort hadn't installed it correctly! They had taken a LOT of shortcuts (like taping things together that shouldn't have been) it wasn't up to code, and it had causes leaks and other problems. I literally paid thousands of dollars for them to not do their job correctly, and I felt shorted. This company DOES NOT CARE about the customer, only the money and numbers. They will rip you off!! They don't seem to train their employees very well, nor do they seem to communicate with you. I will never use them again for anything! STAY FAR AWAY! Replaced 15+ year old system a couple years ago and have had several major issues with new one already... Just a couple months old and it stopped working--had to replace the main component that had the motor, heating elements, etc. Said it was defective when it came out of factory. Had my scheduled maintenance visit Monday and the repairman found a piece of tubing or wiring cover that was totally fried--I could see wires exposed in the picture! Stated that since I use propane that it heats hotter....They knew this when they put the system in so shouldn't flame be set accordingly?? Do I have the wrong type of furnace?? From start to finish there was only one hiccup and the owners son called me personally to fix it. When my AC first went out, I looked on yelp to find the highest rated HVAC company in our area. Comfort heating and air was the number one. They came out and did a service call. That technician recommended that we replace the entire system because it was over 20 years old. Plus there were many problems that would cost us thousands of dollars to fix now and we would still end up needing a new unit in a year or two. They sent out a sales rep and he viewed our system and quoted me a decent price on the New system. He was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to point me in the right direction. The install was scheduled for Thursday and that morning I had to be at school by 10 AM. The installers did show up late, though it did cause a headache, The owners son gave me a personal call and corrected the mistake himself. The two gentleman that installed our new HVAC unit were friendly and professional and worked quickly to ensure that we had AC before the heat wave. I definitely would call comfort heating and air in the future. Their staff is knowledgeable and easy to work with. If a mistake happens to be made (and we are all human) then they will do their best to fix it and in my case exceeded the fix that was required. Comfort heating & air does not provide good service. The technician that was sent out to my house to checked out an AC problem. He did not know how to actually test out any electrical components he just wanted to change out parts that comfort charges 3 to 4 times more then they cost. He installed a fuse and it blew up in his face. I spent 473 dollars to have him tell me he got any arc flash from something he did and that I needed to replace the entire system for a cost of over 7 thousand dollars. I had an entire new system installed by comfort heat & air less then 3 years ago and it was supposed to have this wonderful long warranty with it. I guess this was just another company taking advantage of their customers and not backing up anything they sell or install. They can't even diagnose a simple issue with the system they install. I will not ever use, buy or recommend this company to anyone. They are just out to screw you and take your money. They do not stand behind their work or so called warranties they sell with their products. Not sure how they stay in business. I hope everyone takes a closer look at this company before hiring to do any work. You will be sorry you did. They do not do what they say they do. It's all just a big lie. My HVAC system needed to be replaced, and after calling Comfort Air, Chase was sent to look at my system, and give me an estimate for replacing it. He actually gave me five systems to pick from, and loaned me a window unit while I was waiting for the install. The two young men who did the the actual install, Chris (Smiley) and the other whose name escapes me, did an incredible job. They were very thorough, watched the doors to keep my cats from getting out, and were in a good mood all day. They were at my home until 8:30 or so, but they stayed friendly and upbeat. Currently requesting a full refund for incomplete repairs, incomplete services rendered, and extremely poor customer service. I have already paid $1361.00, and have also received an additional invoice for $636.65. * My initial service call was scheduled for the afternoon of July 10th. Outdoor unit would not come on. The technician stated that the low-pressure switch was preventing the unit from working, due to low refrigerant in the system. He stated that he could see where a leak was, however he would have to reschedule the repair for another day due to the timeline. Paid $99 for the trip/inspection. * Scheduled repair for July 12th, and had to take off work for appointment (An additional $346.15 in lost wages). Technician was onsite for 1-2 hours, and stated that the repair had been made, and all was resolved. Paid $1262.00 for the repair. * Within 3 months, the system was no longer cooling properly, then at the 4 month mark, the unit began short-cycling, indicating low refrigerant again. I called to setup another service call, and the representative indicated that this would be a warranty issue, and there would be no trip fee. Appointment was scheduled for 8am - 12pm November 11th. * November 11th. During the hours of my scheduled appointment, no one arrived, nor was I contacted. I called back into customer service and was directed to someone in the local office. No apology or excuse was given for the missed appointment. I was told that the trip fee would be waived for my inconvenience (a fee that I was already told would not be charged). At 1:07pm, I received an email notification that the tech was on the way. He showed up around 2pm. The technician checked the refrigerant levels, and confirmed there was clearly still a leak. Tech proposed adding UV dye to the system to diagnose the location of the leak. A diagnostic that was not offered, or even mentioned with my July appointment. The cost quoted was $636.65. Having already paid $1361.00 for an issue that wasn't resolved, I asked him to call a manager so we could discuss a solution. I reluctantly agreed to the additional charge, with the understanding that any additional work would be performed free of charge to make up for the initial issue that was not resolved. The technician then attempted to proceed with the work, only to find that his "dye kit" was not functioning properly. He said he would have to set up a follow-up visit for another technician to return the following day. * November 12th, no one showed up, nor was I contacted in any way. * November 13th, I had to contact customer service again.... I was connected with Ty Meyers (spelling??) who I was told was the branch manager. I explained the entire ordeal to him, and he stated that he would personally coordinate a service call for the following day for a technician to add the dye to the system, then he would follow up with final solutions. The appointment was scheduled for 10am - 2pm on November 14. AGAIN, the appointment was missed with no one contacting me. At 2:50pm, I finally received an email that a technician was on the way. Technician was onsite for approximately 1 hour, and I receive an emailed invoice for $0.00 with comments that someone "will need to return to perform a UV leak search on a different day". * Invoice for $636.65 was delivered via USPS for the November 11th service call that was incomplete. * Today, 3 weeks later, I still have not been contacted by a single person, and the original issue of a leak remains unresolved. read more

Just to find out that the sales rep was the owners son. Owner attempted to contact to defend/fix the issue. Even reported that he was the sales reps father. Bait and switch on quotes, lack of care, quote not even received until after three texts, an email, and a phone call to the sales manager. Sales rep, owner's son, didn't even look at what was involved in the job, missed numerous items regarding the quote on any system. And I had to point out to him that the system currently installed was too small for my home anyway. Clearly had an agenda and not what was best for the customer. Not to mention that the initial visit by the techs caused my system to go from being able to at least move air to being unable to do anything. They claim that the blower was intermittent when they arrived and now has just stopped working while they were right there. Behavior is very predatory. We live about 45min outside of Lexington, and on a winter Saturday night there was a problem with our heat pump. After contacting my home warranty, which just told me to find my own service provider, I started making some calls on Sunday around noon. Locally, I only managed to get to two voicemail boxes. One called me back saying they couldn't make it out until Monday. The other called me back on Monday and said they had a cancellation for Wednesday that I could take. Meanwhile, my third call that Sunday afternoon was to Comfort Heating & Air. They answered immediately, and within 30 minutes I was talking to a technician. By 6:15pm that night he was at my house. Turns out it was an easy job so he only charged me the diagnostic fee and half an hour of labor. He was fantastic to work with. If I ever have a problem in the future, Comfort Heating & Air is my first call. No question about it. read more

Tech came out to figure out what was wrong with my furnace that was manufactured in 2015. Spent 2ish hours inspecting it and couldn't get it working. Told me that the only other thing he could do is replace the entire board for the furnace. This would cost around 1.5k to do so and there was no guarantee it would work. I asked him if it did not work if we could return the part, he told me maybe. So I would be buying an expensive part that he didn't know would fix it nor could he tell me if I would get my money back if it didn't. Not to mention the cost of the part, there is a fee to order something that isn't on their truck. This is in addition to the part cost itself. The cost of this "acquisition" fee was around $170. I told him that I wanted to pay for the service call and that is it. I called another company and they fixed it for me that day. And this after they left to acquire a part I needed with no fee charged to do so. Go elsewhere for service, unless you want to be nickel and dimed and smoke blown up your bottom. read more

I called Comfort after one of my heating units wasn't working. I heard about them by reading another Yelper's Review of the Day, and I didn't want to use the other place that used to service my unit monthly. Long story short, this summer when my security system was installed along with my remote themostat controller, they switched it over to the gas option.... mine is electric. $89 later, I had heat and the answer. I thought it was a bit steep for such a simple diagnostic, but I guess it wasn't Comfort's fault that one didn't know to check for such an easy thing. The good news is that they said that if something else goes wrong in the next 2 weeks, that they wouldn't charge another service fee... how sweet. read more

Have used Comfort for a number of years, belonged to their Comfy Club. We have a geothermal unit. We get it serviced twice a year as a preventive measure, we live in Bourbon Co. On this last visit in April, I was informed by the technician that we were being charged an additional $150 for "charging the lines." I cannot complain about the technicians - all have been professional and courteous. Our issue is the billing practice/service protocols for geothermal units. Looking back at our history, we've had to pay from $150 to $200 in addition to the charge for coming out for routine maintenance - for charging the lines, which means they flush water thru them to increase the pressure so that it runs more efficiently. Comfort has done this at least 75% of the visits here. I asked why it wasn't included in the routine maintenance and they said that it doesn't always need to be done. Asked if there was something wrong with our unit since it "needed" it almost every time they're here. They said nothing wrong with our unit. But they charged the additional fee, even though they're already paid to come out, the equipment is with them, our water is being used and it takes less than 10 minutes to do. To us, this is a rip off. I spoke to a manager at Comfort after the tech left to get their feedback on why it's not included in the maintenance, given it needs to be done - at least w ours - nearly every time. He gave no explanation. I asked that he discuss with those making those billing decisions and call me back. He did not. Waited a week and called again, asked for a response. No contact was made via phone or email from Comfort. Called again last week, asked for a return call from management. No response. We will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I chose Comfort Heating & Air to replace a small gas furnace unit a couple of years ago. They said they could make it work with my existing heat pump and it did. Recently, I called them to say the TXV valve was freezing and, instead of telling me over the phone that part was not covered, they sent a repairman. When Will arrived I said, again, the TXV had frozen and the heat pump would not work. Again, he didn't say that it was was part of the heat pump and not covered and that he would check things out. He did and said the TXV needed replacement. I knew they were in the $40-$80 range, but he called his manager and I was told it would cost just under $2,000! They would waste the existing freon, use their freon and the mark-up on the part to get $2,000 from me. I asked if the existing freon could be used and was told that some companies capture and filter your freon and reuse it, but Comfort did not. I'm a retired senior and refused to pay nearly $2,000, but had to pay $104 for a "service call" which amounted to no service and a waste of money. I asked why two employees didn't tell me that the TXV was not covered and he didn't answer. Will was the only nice part of this mess, but he had to answer to his manager. read more

Called them at 9:30 to set up an appointment, got a call from dispatch a few minutes later, and set up an afternoon appointment. The repair technician ("JR") showed up, diagnosed the problem, replaced the part, and everything is good to go. This is customer service as it always should be. Called about no heat, less than 3 hours later Heat! A coworker who recently had her HVAC systems replaced by Comfort Heating and Air recommended them. The people I used to use were too busy to get out for a few days. Comfortman got right out and took care of the minor furnace issue and their house call bill was quite reasonable too. The service is important and Comfort's service was tremendous. Very quick and the service tech was very professional and courteous explaining the issue and fixing it without loading on extras. Seeing a couple low rated reviews which both also recommend Stewarts makes me suspicious, as Stewarts was the HVAC people I used to use. I thought for certain we were making the right decision when choosing Comfort heating and air for our HVAC issues at my boyfriends home. Their 5 star reviews seen on Google and yelp served as reassurance that others had great experiences. Unfortunately that was not the case. Don't be fooled by their hours listed online (open 24 hours). We called late evening to schedule an appt (because there were no hours listed, said it was 24hrs/day), and the technician that returned the call acted mildly annoyed that we had called only to schedule, not for an emergency call. Uhm. I'm Sorry? May I suggest listing normal business hours on your website but advertising that you can do emergency service after hours? Instead of leaving yourselves wide open to these type of calls. So then when my boyfriend called to schedule for middle of the day Saturday (his only day off during the week), they charge emergency for that as well!!! How. Convenient. Considering the average American works 9-5/m-f. We are always in a state of "emergency" in the eyes of comfort heating and cooling and to the benefit of their checkbooks. So instead of paying the emergency fee, we schedule the appt for Wednesday at noon. No range of time. Noon. With the discussion to the dispatch that my BF would be coming during his lunch. No problem. I offered to come wait in the 90 degree home (this is my day off) instead of him leaving work. Again, appt is at noon. 12:30 rolls around. No one. 12:40, I call. Mildly annoyed not so much that they are late, but that no one bothered to say they would be so. I worked the installed sales office at Lowes for 6 years. I know how these things go. But it's kinda an unsaid rule of good business that you call if you're going to be late, right? Anyways, I get from the female on the phone: "Oh Jake has just finished his appt before you, and is on his way!" My annoyance is slightly squelched knowing there is someone en route. But not fully. 1:00...1:30...I'm still sitting here, alone, now HVAC technician in sight. Sweating. Watching "keeping up with the kardashians"...which was likely stoking the fire and adding to my annoyance. But I've digressed, back to the issue at hand. I call again. This time Taylor answers and Taylor says "Jake has just finished with his appointment right before you, and is on his way!". Well. This is getting redundant. So, I inquire why I was told that very same thing an hour ago. "Uhhhm." Stammering. Shuffling, being put on hold. "The technician has been notified to call you". Gee. Thanks. Twenty five minutes later, Jake calls. I feel like a girlfriend waiting by the door for a boyfriend who has been our way too late. Where have YOU been?! I stop myself from saying that...but the words Jake spoke were enough to piss me off all over again. "Uh this is Jake. I'll be there in 30-45 minutes". 30-45 minutes? I'm sorry, so are you coming after you've finished your leisurely lunch today? It's now 2:00 and an hour and a half ago I was told you were done with the job before me. So what exactly have you been doing in this time? "Paperwork...." Damn. I'm not sure what's on those papers. But it must be extensive. Looks like it's time comfort and heating stepped out of the Stone Age and started using these new fangled devices called computers. Long story short, he arrived. I immediately cancelled. Sorry, Comfort. called several companies, and Bryant heating and cooling is on the way. And for $30 less than Comfort to diagnose my unit. I was very impressed with the prompt and professional service I received. After a horrible experience with another company, I called Comfort hoping they could help me. My furnace was replaced within 48 hours from my initial contact. They didn't try and make me feel pressured into anything or try and sell me stuff I didn't need. First of all, they claim to ensure your appliance is under warranty or not. They called me to inform me I wasnt covered, when, indeed I was covered through my home warranty. I was about to come out of pocket $3,000 before i caught there shadiness!!!! Secondly, I made it a priority to schedule well in advance. But 2 days before my appt. comes, they say I dont have an appt.!!!!? Yet, just the day before my appt (I KNOW I scheduled) Comfort Air calls me, to confirm the 'nonexistent' appointment!!!??? Lastly, the warranty needed a list of the parts needed to complete the job. However, Comfort Air REFUSED to provide this info. So the warranty 'estimated' costs instead!!!! Just seems super shady, why wouldn't you provide a list of the services you plan to provide, unless theres something you dont want to be known?? *****Edited update****** I hired Stewart Heating and Air, from a fellow reviewer's suggestion, they were SUPERB. Came out the very next day, and after doing some diagnostics, simply added a little freon, FOR FREE and problem solved in 15 min!! Don't let this website fool you into thinking they have emergency services. They don't. After calling a couple of other places on Saturday evening (Sep 5 - Labor Day weekend) I was pleasantly surprised when Comfort Heating and Air returned my call on Sunday morning almost immediately. However, I guess that was just to make me feel better. The technician said he couldn't come by on Sunday but he would be at my house on Monday (Labor Day) afternoon to check out why my air conditioner wasn't working. On Monday afternoon I called him back to see what time he was coming and was told that he wasn't coming on Monday; he was way too busy and that he did not tell me he would be there. He offered to call his company and reschedule an appointment for me. I told him not to bother. If he had just told me on Sunday morning that it would be two or three days then I would have called someone else. Their website offers emergency services. And two or three days later with my house at 90 degrees just doesn't seem like an emergency service to me. read more

I have been really frustrated by all of the five star reviews that I have read about this company. I even spoke with a real estate agent who recommended them as well. Everyone seems to have glowing reviews and experiences. This is our experience. We hired Comfort after the HVAC business we were using decided to retire from business. Based off of a number of recommendations, we thought they were an excellent choice. They seemed pricey, but the technicians we met were polite and seemingly knowledgeable. Then, about a year ago, our ignitor cracked during the night when the temperatures were dangerously low below zero. We immediately called them and left a message. They didn't manage to get to us until around 4:30 in the afternoon. This I can understand. There must have been a ton of systems breaking in negative 10 degree weather. What happened next leaves me seething to this day. The technician did not have an ignitor that would fit our system. He called the warehouse, but he was five minutes too late. He told us we would have to wait until tomorrow to have it fixed. There was no mention that we could pay to have the warehouse opened after hours and have them replace the part that day. Again I say no mention whatsoever. During this whole episode our family used electric and propane heaters and lived inside our house in a tent. The city was blanketed in snow and the temperatures were dangerously low. We had nowhere we could take our pets to keep them safe from the temperatures, and we were seriously concerned about pipes bursting because we couldn't drain the system. When Comfort returned the next day, they replaced our ignitor, and we had heat, but by that time multiple pipes had frozen. Also, after they left our furnace would not turn off. We went from negative temperatures to a constant 80 degrees. We called a completely different HVAC company out because we had had it with Comfort. Even before this incident, we had realized that their prices were majorly high, and we suspected they were not doing all of the maintenance that they listed in their maintenance package. All of this was confirmed. The technician from the other company took my husband down into the cellar with him. They discovered the bypass wire that had been left by Comfort on our system and had kept the furnace running without shutting off. He also then discovered a wad of dirt in our system so large that it could only have been the accumulation of years of neglect. He told us that most likely our ignitor had cracked from the strain of working despite massive amounts of detritus in the system. Comfort had not been following all of the procedures of their maintenance schedule at all!! After all of the money and pain they have caused us, I would officially give them zero stars if I could. They also constantly try to tell you that you need a new system when your old one is perfectly fine. I guess that goes well with their lack of doing maintenance when you purchase their maintenance package. Since we stopped using them, our HVAC system has been just fine. READ BEFORE CALLING THEM FOR AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEMS!!! I chose them based on all the 5 star reviews. I've got to admit, I'm not impressed..at all. I saw a one star on Google and that should've been a sign. I'm a handy person around the house so I know when services and prices don't add up. Setting up an appointment was easy, which earned them a star. My downstairs and upstairs AC units went out, one was frozen due to compensating for the system that ran out of freon. I just paid an $89 dispatch fee (ok, not too bad), and then to refill the freon, it was $130 PER POUND. I then got "educated" on why the price was so high. I knew I was getting ripped off, but the 2 pounds of freon were already in the system. They're supposed to come out tomorrow to follow up with the frozen unit that will have thawed, so they can load it up with freon, but I'm definitely canceling that appointment. I called Stewart Heating and Air and they charge $75 per pound and couldn't believe it when I said I had just paid $130 per pound of freon. I'm taking my business there because they also are waiving the dispatch fee due to my troubles. This is what I get for blindly calling based on reviews and not doing my homework and calling around--but then again, I didn't know what our AC problem was so I didn't know what to ask for. one star for making an appointment decently quickly one star for a kind technician (although he sold me on some bull), and refilling one of our units with freon (albeit for twice as much $$ as competitors) They're lucky they're getting two stars out of me. -Very disappointed customer. read more

Complete new system install (furnace in the attic and outside unit). Service was very good. Guys did a good job on the install and Mike personally came out to make sure I was happy. Highly recommend. Comfort Heating and Air will be my first and only choice. read more

Blew a fuse in my air conditioner in the early morning, called Comfort Heating & Air at 11am and they had a service tech out to the house by 3pm. I had company coming in to stay for the weekend and explained it was urgent that someone get out and they didn't disappoint. My service tech, Jason, was very knowledgable about the unit, made the repair quickly, and couldn't have been nicer. This was my first time using Comfort but they were great and I will use them from now on. Glad to have someone I can count on! read more
