I would try to find a better place to stay if I were ever to come to Meridian again. The hotel made an initial bad impression by hosting a large wedding. We arrived about 10 pm. The wedding itself was OK, but there was almost no parking. I wound up parking on the back fence. The room had some cleanliness and repair issues. The curtain sheer was in need od replacement since it was deteriorating. The desk chair was broken and there was some foreign substance on the top of the headboard. Other than that, the room wasn't too bad. The desk staff was nice and seemed to appreciate us bringing these issues to their attention. The breakfast needed help. The breakfast area was tight. Stayed at Comfort Inn on East Main Street in Meriden and discovered they charged my card twice in one night. Impressive efficiency when it comes to taking money. This morning, the manager acknowledged the second charge was a mistake and assured me it would be removed and returned to the bank today. Great start--except reality quickly checked in after that. I called several times to follow up. One employee then informed me the duplicate charge would stay for seven days. Interesting, since that directly contradicts what management had already told me hours earlier. Apparently the hotel offers not only lodging, but multiple versions of the truth. Then came the hunt for the manager: "He'll be here at 4." "He'll be here at 5." "He'll be here in 30 minutes." Eventually: "We don't know where he is." At that point I wasn't sure if I was calling a hotel or tracking a missing persons case. I would not normally leave a review over a mistake--mistakes happen. But making a mistake, admitting it, then refusing or failing to fix it while sending guests in circles is pure amateur hour. The hotel was nearly empty, which now makes perfect sense. Even breakfast had only one lonely guest, perhaps also waiting for the manager to appear. If customer service were a room here, it appears to be permanently out of order. read more

Very, very strong chemical smell in the room. Due to reaction to the chemical, I could never stay there again. We have gone to many, many Comfort Inns over the years and have never had this reaction. The fragrance was in everything we brought home and required triple washing to remove it. We had to leave our suitcases outside in order to air them out for days in order to remove the odor. This would most likely only apply to people with fragrance or chemical allergies. The service was wonderful and the rooms were clean. Cost was very reasonable. read more

This place bills itself as a "3-star" hotel and that's about 6-stars too high. To call this place a "dump" would be a step up - it's an actual, honest-to-goodness " sh&t h@le " and should be avoided at all costs! First, the entire place is dirty, actually filthy - you can see visible dirt on floors and walls, both in common spaces and rooms. The showers have black mold in the grout lines. The windows haven't been washed in years. Everyplace you look, all you see is dirt. Next, the mattress is as hard as a rock and the springs dig into your sides. The pillows are aweful, needed to use 3 just to equal 1 normal pillow. Next, the entire place smells of a nauseous combination of Fabulosos and an industrial deodorizer spray in the rooms. There are deodorizer sprays on the walls everywhere (lobby, hallways, even elevator) leading you to ask, WHAT are they trying to cover up?? Next, the "free breakfast" is just bad and the coffee tastes like dirty dish water. Luckily there is a Dunkin across the street. TERRIBLE experience. Stayed for a wedding, checked in 11/3 and out 11/6. On 11/7 (day after checkout) my CC was charged $79.20, and then on 11/8 it was charged $30.55 twice-- so a total of $140.30 in charges. We aren't local to CT so I had to call them instead of going in person to ask what the charges were about. The first time I called I was met with "I haven't worked the front desk in awhile so I'll have the guy who was working the desk when you were here call you back"-- I waited 3 days and didn't get a phonecall. I called again, and was told the same. 3rd time I called, I was told they'll refund me the $79.20 but that's it-- they insisted we extended our stay. I said I have my boarding passes to prove I was not in CT, nor did I extend my stay, and only then did they agree to refund me the full amount. They told me it would post in 24-36 hours. Well, 3 more business days went by and I still had no refund, so I called again. Was told they refunded it to a CC ending in "xyz"-- that I don't own. Then he backtracked and read my actual CC number to me and told me that's the one they refunded it to. I said listen dude, this is now the FOURTH time I've called you guys, and I still have no refund. Nothing was refunded. I was met with "call your bank then". I ended up having to call Chase bank to dispute the charges, which is ongoing as of now. 0/10 recommend giving them your business. And while I'm at it, we had no hot water our entire stay. read more

Stayed during a warm week (upper 80's). Air conditioner was as cold as we wanted. The employees at the front desk repeatedly went the extra mile to help us. They wanted to assure us that they would do whatever was needed to assist us in our requests. There were two or three times that assistance was needed and they came through. Internet worked well and did not sign me off after a period of un-use. Was able to park nearby. Was able to use a luggage cart, which was convenient. Breakfast was three stars. Bed was comfortable. I slept with my clothes on and didn't dare to step foot in the shower because I didn't want to end up with some random infection. Please stay somewhere else near Meriden. Serious security issue with door. Someone walked into my room without a key because the lock needed to be turned manually (never mentioned at check in). There was a strong scent of menthol cigarettes in the hallway and in the room. Some of the towels had brown stains on them. Guests in neighboring rooms were blasting music late into the night. We had an amazing long weekend here. The room was super clean, the staff was awesome and friendly. Our only complaints were that the continental breakfast was quite lacking. There was TONS of drug use on the premises, and that wasn't ideal. Despite those issues we would probably stay again if we needed to. One night stay family of four the hotel checkin process was good. The hotel lobby clean with a nice eating area, corner market with Starbucks cafe. Two public computers in the lobby with free WI-FI. There's a coin operated washer and dryer for small loads, however you must bring your own detergent. The room we booked had two queen size beds that were clean and comfortable. Feather filled pillows with fluffy comforter. There was a cooling fridge, coffee maker and standard television. Restaurants, such as Target and other shopping areas near by right across from hotel. I called the front desk to ask for a towel, blanket, and sheets. No answer, so I went to the front desk and asked, they gave me sheets and said they had no blankets. The place was disgusting, very odd smell. Road noise and noise from people in the hotel. Not clean at all. Will never stay at Comfort Inn again. I travel all over the USA for work and stay in hotels about 160 days a year this is the worst I have ever stayed at. I did email them and they gave the generic responses. The hotel was being renovated but COVID stopped it. That does not explain the black mold on ceiling tiles in the hallways or the drug users in the back lot at night shooting up or hookers trying to get people in the back lot at night. Place was just gross, floors in room dirty so much I had to wear socks so the dirt would nor stick to the bottom of my feet, after a short time the white socks were discolored and gross had to throw them out when I left. Do your self a favor spend the extra and go someplace else. In total very little sleep for the two night stay about 2 hours per night. I figured if I wrote a review on my stay the general manager said it was due to COVID why the place looked so bad and they change $250 for smoking in the place. The smell is mold not smoking. Let me start by saying if I could give no stars I would. I stayed in this place for a week. And I've come to realize it's the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The first room I was in before get my room switched had a broken prong from a plug inside the lamp top lights outlet. Which is no big deal but then I go to take a bath and when I pull the stopper to fill the tub lo and behold it comes out of the tub. What's the second room that I got wasn't as bad except for the fact that once again when I went to take a bath and soak the diverter did not fully disengage allowing the shower to come pouring down on you as well. Do yourself a favor do not stay here. And if the hotel person is looking at this you should be ashamed of the building that you run. read more

We booked this hotel from hotwire.com. It was cheap, rated in the 2.5 stars category (but for them that means it's in a class of lower hotel chains), and had a 10 out of 10 guest rating. After staying here for one night, I do not know how anyone can recommend it to someone. The hotel had the things you needed-- a bed, shower, towels, and toiletries at the desk if you forgot them. It was really late at night when my family checked in. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very strong smell in the lobby. One employee at the desk was chatting with a friend and another was helping another guest; this meant we had to wait 10 minutes to be helped. We go out to the car to get our stuff and go to get in the elevator, and it smelled like perfume trying to cover cigarette smoke (in this non smoking hotel). Then we get out of the elevator and turn the corner and are greeted by another smell that doesn't match any other in the hotel. Finally, we get to our room and as we go to open the door we look up and see a molded ceiling tile (gross!). We get into our room and it smells like "cleaning" supplies. Now comes the next morning. We were headed out early in the morning and everyone needed to shower. The fan in the bathroom was not nearly strong enough for the steam that happens when you close the bathroom door. The shower curtain also didn't quite serve its purpose. Water was seeping out the backside which was right by the bathroom door. After shower 1 we put a towel on the floor to absorb this water. As we changed the towel in this place the water continued to seep out of the shower and onto the carpet. The whole floor soaked through to the entry way carpet; suddenly, we couldn't walk through the room in socks because they'd get soaked. Finally, it was time to leave. We go downstairs and grab some breakfast for the road. It was a basic hotel breakfast but on a lesser level. There wasn't much warm food to choose from but they had cereal, yogurt, pastries, and fruit. The fruit selection was low, and they did not refill it while we were there. To where are ceremony and reception were. We booked with them months in advance and my then fiance even had a tour by the general manager Mr. Patel. He assured her the stay for us as well as our guests that traveled to our event would be nothing less than perfect and how him and his staff would bend over backwards to make everything easy for us all. He showed her the rooms and price range options... The rooms were just recently remodeled and now included hot tubs and luxurious amenities such as not one but TWO flat screens and a penthouse style layout. With all that being said we decided to book there for our wedding night stay as well as 12 other blocked off rooms as well. As a side note... He also told her that breakfast the next day was served until 11am Now.... Our wedding ended at 12am.. We didn't get back to the hotel until 1245.... We were promptly greeted by Maria at the front desk and our room was literally 30ft from the front desk.. SWEET right? No elevators or stairs to deal with... Just walk in the hotel take a left and ahhhh we could finally sleep. NOPE. No sleep. Why you ask? Because the room RIGHT next to ours.... The bride and grooms room ... Was a raging 17 year old school kid drinking party. I immediately walked right out to the desk... Not event changed yet and said "I'm not usually THAT guy but I am NOT going to deal with this on my wedding night" Maria told me she would take care of it Well 3 more calls to the desk and 3 hours later maria finally moved the kids room somewhere else... Great! For us..... Unfortunately not so good for the 12 other rooms our other guests had booked since maria placed these kids right next door to them! Needless to say we didn't actually have silence... And by that I mean no bass vibrations shaking my bed until 415am!! Sadly for our wedding guests once maria moved them our guests continued to hear this nonsense and kids yelling up and down the halls and doors slamming until later than that. Come to find out this morning when hotel staff entered the party room next door this morning all sorts of crap was broken and glass was everywhere .... Hmmmmmm should have listened to me the first time huh?????? To add a cherry onto the proverbial sundae..... Not only did all of my guests complain at breakfast about the loud noise ALL night but apparently each of them had something completely broken and or damaged in their room... Hot tubs not working... TVs broken... Screws on the floor in the bedroom... Now for that breakfast side note. EVERYONE of our guests that stayed at the hotel were from Maine... We all decided wed wake up at 830 and go down for this fantastic breakfast they include and all eat together and relax on final time before they all headed back to Maine. Well come to effing find out breakfast starts wrapping up at 9!!!!!!!!! However one of my guests called to check again and "Prince" at the front desk advised her that they won't take the food away if there are "stragglers" coming in at 9. GEE THANKS so we all ran down to breakfast... The only good thing about the breakfast was the coffee and the family time... The leather chews... I mean breakfast sausage was rubberized... The eggs were totally powdered and dry.... Bleh! Overall ecstatic about our wedding day but the after part of things were seriously crappy thanks to this hotel... I plan on speaking to the GM or writing corporate if not both in a week when I get back from honeymoon... They WILL be comping one or more of the rooms WE paid for... Oh forgot to mention... The REASON I need to wait until I get back from honeymoon to speak with GM or ANY manager is due to the fact Mr. Patel likes to employee his teenage son Prince to work the front desk by himself with absolutely no manager in the building.... Really at 2.5 . . . We had our needs met, the breakfast was okay, and we had a quiet night, with pretty good sleep quality. The people are great (Jose et al). But . . . . the facilities are starting to run down, even though this comfort inn is not that old. For example, on the fourth floor, there was a ceiling tile that looks bowed down severely and looks moldy (it is totally brown through and thought), which is just plain disgusting. The exercise center (also on 4th floor) has equipment that does not work (treadmill for one thing is non operative). The laundry has only two pairs of machines: one washer/dryer pair is completely out; the second, i was able to use but it was in bad shape with the lint filter in bad shape and the filter not able to go down. Other points to note: this is not the safest area. We saw a gang hanging out nearby at the CVS. The back parking lot does not have enough lighting. This inn needs some maintenance and some additional changes implemented. Also the weekend we were there, the ownership decided to save money and not to air condition the hallways but that was a bad call. On the good news side: There is a Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, and CVS nearby. That's a better situation than some hotels/inns around the greater New Haven/Meriden area. Bottom line: This Comfort Inn is not being kept up from a facility standpoint. read more

This hotel is gross. The worst example is that a large used bandaid from a previous guest was left in our shower! I discovered it and complained about it the morning after we checked in, and that night when we returned to the hotel, the bandaid was still there and the room had never been cleaned at all. We waited forty minutes at 9:30 at night for them to get someone to clean just the bathroom. Then I had to argue and argue to get our room rate reduced. The manager's attitude seemed to be "yeah, this place is a dump." Also, the carpets in the hallways are filthy and stained, and the key cards don't properly open the rooms. I saw another hotel guest come down after I did with the same complaint - that the door would not open. And bizarrely, the front desk person handed me a universal card to open my room and then just asked that I return it later. I could have walked into anyone's room! Do I need to say more? I booked a trip to Connecticut through Priceline. It included the flight, the rental car and this hotel. I pre-paid in full. When I checked into the hotel two days ago, I gave my credit card at check-in as one always does to provide a deposit or whatever. When I checked my account today they have charge me over $600 onto the credit card I gave them without my authorization. This is utterly disgusting. Buyer beware this hotel is a scam and their staff does not care. The hotel is not very clean. The breakfast is awful. And the fact that they stole from me is even worse. And when the gentleman at the front desk said he was going to credit me what they had taken out, as I was still standing there, he processed more transactions and took more money of out my account again WITHOUT my authorization. This comfort inn would have gotten a full 5 stars but they have to work out a few small tweaks. First let's start with the pros at first glance I thought this was going to to be a average ehh hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. It was very calming and relaxing, beds comfy with more than enough pillows, quiet didn't really hear any guest hanging out or roaming the halls pretty quiet. Walls seem pretty thick didn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms and no creaky floors overall pretty solid room. It's located right off the highway and close to many fast food restaurants. So getting something to eat or getting to the closest store for anything you might have forgotten is not a problem. Also this is the first choice hotel i've been to that has a sign saying that if you forgot something they have extras like toothpaste, toothbrushes, or any other basic toiletries. Now onto the cons not really anything too major but worth mentioning. First no ice maker on the first floor no big deal really but would have been nice not have to lug kids up to the 4th or 5th floor to get ice. Second the bathroom mainly the shower needs some help now im not the one to complain about water pressure but the shower seemed to leak water out and really soak the floor they did provide a bath mat/rug which is nice because most choice hotels only give you small thin hand like towel to place on the floor but it was not enough to soak up all the water from the shower. Lastly the breakfast was ok it what you would expect from a free breakfast pretty average coffee cereal waffles yogurt sausage and eggs but let me tell you about these eggs now I am fully aware that the person who is in charge of making eggs cooks them in the microwave. I know this because i've seen this numerous time. Usually this has not been a huge issue for me they taste ok just need to add some salt and pepper. But on this particular day these eggs were horrible they basically tasted like eating chunks of water. I can usually save eggs by added ketchup but nope didn't happen these eggs were beyond bad. But everything else was adequate If your looking for a high class Marriott experience this place is not for you. For me it was the perfect place for me and my family to relax and recharge after a long day. read more

I started staying at this hotel on my monthly visits to the Meriden, CT area about 6 months ago. I stayed at least 2 nights per month. It is not the cleanest place but is tolerable because it is about $50 or more per night less than most other hotels in the area. On my most recent stay this week, the TV would for no apparent reason lose the signal and change channels, then turn off, or sometimes the volume adjusted by itself. Maybe the room was haunted, but more likely there was a problem with the TV-so I reported it on my way out the next morning. "It would be fixed by the time you come back this evening" I was told. Yeah, right. It wasn't fixed, I don't think they even looked at it as the stuff I left on top of the dresser wasn't even moved when I got back. read more

The Comfort Inn was Great ! We needed to stay over in Meriden CT for a family event and this hotel is perfect for business or an event in the area. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful , very , very friendly and accommodating ! The hotel, and the room were very clean , the free hot breakfast was great and a nice touch , and even the Coffee was good, i was tempted to go to Dunkin Donuts right across the Street but did not need to ! Hotel is close to everything Downtown and 2 Drug store chains are also right across the Street which is very helpful . I like the fact that you can park your car right in front in open parking, and we could see our car from the room window which i liked ! My only negative is when you turn on the bathroom light switch the fan automatically goes on as well - it's too loud , should be separate switches ! Most of all very clean and very nice and helpful staff , with fair prices ! read more
