My room was horrible. The curtain was slit. Refrigerator leaking. Took a shower and drain was slow, stood in two inches of water.

The front desk is courteous & kind, the room was exceptionally clean (cleaned by Brittney,Thank you Brittney). The lobby was well maintained and if you wanted to come down and enjoy a drink by a fireplace in a nice lounge chair they had that comfort as well. This place had breakfast as well as Dinner and from 5:30-7pm you got 2 free drinks whether they be cocktails or a beer. The breakfast isn't small either, it was Scrambled Eggs, sausage Patties, Biscuits & Gravy and hash Browns along with them having bagels, donuts and fresh fruit and many choices of beverages. Now the dinner they had there was Meatballs, chicken Alfredo, chicken slices, mixed vegetables, and also had a nacho cheese stand and hot dog stand.

Not typing it all again but I will say bed bugs beware and I caught the couple that runs it in a lie that they didn't know they had them then they later admitted they knew but that they only put "druggie" looking people in those rooms. On top of that I got charged a 22 dollar cancellation fee for canceling like they just expected me to stay in their infestation of a motel. Stay away.. bad business.

Broken windows When…read morewe arrived to our room we noticed the windows in our room were broken. Went to office and asked for another room Mgr said we would have to downgrade our room. We went and looked at room 2 and found a folding table outside the door of room 2 with chairs and ashtrays all over. Open the door and the smoke smell was horrible. Went back and told him that room wasn't acceptable and Mgr said "this is a local motel, what do you expect a Holiday Inn?" Due to medical issues and the fact that we had been on the road traveling for over 18 hours and had dogs with us we ended up staying in the first room with the broken windows and spiderwebs/dirt since we couldn't find another hotel in town that would accept 2 large dogs. The Mgr also overcharged us the pet fee. The Choice website stated $15/pet and he tried to charge $20. He finally said " I guess you need the money worst than we do" and refunded the overcharge. We will definitely never return and would not recommend this motel to anyone.

I have stayed twice in this hotel. I first stayed here in December of 2019 when I was first…read morevisiting Van Wert. I was being recruited for a position in a company in the area and I was interviewing/checking out the company/checking out the area. I stayed in a room with a king sized bed. I ultimately took the job. I had to immediately book the hotel again. I therefore stayed here again from Jan 10 2020 for over a month while waiting to first get possession of the home I bought and during the time my floors were getting redone. Stayed in a suite, with two queen beds and a living rook that had a fold out sofa bed. Hard living with two other people in such a small enclosed space. The hotel does offer suites with kitchen, alas they are few and hard to come by. I spent the time in one without one and had to eat out all the time. My stats were pleasant, considering all the above. The hotel breakfast room is large and comfortable. The hotel has an indoor heated pool which is a big plus! The staff also is the friendliest hotel staff I have ever dealt with. I would talk to them all the time. We would ask how we were all doing, where we were in our move. These are genuinely warm people and the best part of staying at this hotel. There are some weaknesses. The breakfast is unappetizing, and I usually avoided it.. even though it was included in my stay. It didn't taste bad... just didn't have taste... it was bland. The coffee is weak. The suites can also definitely be a little larger and they need updating. Some of the furniture seems to have seen much better days. Still, I did enjoy my stay here and was thankful that I was able to find a hotel for such a long stay in such short notice.

We can begin this review with the scent of stale smoke, that punches you in the face upon arrival…read more Followed by an outdated and unsanitary room/restroom. There was still the previous guests washcloth slung over the shower curtain, someone else's hair clinging to the shower wall, what appears to be mold on the yellow wallpaper, and the cherry on top of the room disgrace? Pubic hairs left on the toilet seat. While I'm absolutely positive the reason for this horrendous room will inevitably be blamed on Covid, it strikes me as odd that I should be charged full price for their lack of staff or care. If you can, roll on to the next town for a place to sleep.

I stayed here one night. Our room was a single King bed room…read more Everything was clean. I was a little confused with a couple things though: -Why was the coffee maker in the bathroom? -The bed decor: some huge rug thing that wasn't really cute or soft Also, when we walked down the hallway there seemed to be a fan/ A/C unit? So we figured it was to keep the hall cool (since it was a little warm)? Then when we walked down to the pool I stepped in a wet spot right in front if the fans and realized it was there to dry the spot.. I didn't inspect where it came from, just proceeded a little weirded out. But it was still wet and being dried the next morning. We went to swim at about 9:30pm and the pool chooses at 10:00. The front desk personnel came in to the pool area and basically kicked us out AT 10:00... Buzzkill.. They didn't even have a Jacuzzi, just the pool. To be fair the pool was a perfect temperature. I just think they should keep it open a little later. They did have a continental breakfast in the morning, eggs weren't too good. Waffle machine was acting up.. There weren't any meat options. No sausage or bacon. Just eggs and biscuits. Juice wasn't stocked. Overall the value isn't bad, it was under 100 bucks. And to get free breakfast and a pool isn't too bad of a deal. The staff seemed to be pretty friendly and helpful.

We usually stay at this hotel every summer when we travel to Defiance. I have ALWAYS used a credit card to check in and paid cash on my way out until today. When I checked out I was told that hotel policy is that you cannot use cash - I know this is not true because my sister who arrived later was ASKED if she wanted to pay with cash or a credit card. There was a girl named Kristina (I think) working the desk who VERY RUDELY told me that people were not allowed to pay for their rooms in cash upon checking out. When and where is this "policy" posted? It's most certainly on the website for this hotel...Listed under "Policies" on their website it says the check-in and check-out times and that the hotel is smoke free...NOTHING about not accepting cash payments upon checkout... I asked to speak to the manager and of course she said he wasn't there and that she had NO WAY to call or get in contact with him. I've NEVER had a job where I couldn't get in touch with my manager! This whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and any future visits to Defiance definitely won't be to this hotel. I WILL be following this up with a letter and a phone call to Corporate on Monday.
