I could hardly hear the lady on the line. I asked for her name but she refused to provide it. I told her I wanted to ensure it was cancelled. I asked her to email me the confirmation. I looked at my email. There was a cancellation, but there was ALSO a confirmation of a reservation for SEVEN nights! The price was $715! So I searched for yesterday's reservation and it was for SEVEN nights at $715 by Jamie's when she distinctly told me the total price would be $270! In addition to the WRONG days, the WRONG price, ALL the confirmations have my name misspelled. Getting to talk to a supervisor is impossible. I hope I am not charged after 'whoever it was' confirmed the reservation a SECOND time AFTER cancelling it. I wonder if they are on drugs or they want to get fired. This is unacceptable.

In town for Northwestern-Michigan game in Ann Arbor, made the original reservation in advance,…read morebefore the area sold out as it always does for Michigan home football games using Hotwire. Then realized I had to work online all day Friday, so used Hotwire to extend reservation forward a day (Thursday night), but had to leave after working all day. En route, as suggested by Hotwire, called to ask if I could get the same room for two nights so I wouldn't have to check out at 11 and work in the lobby until 4pm. At 7:55 pm reached "Jamie" at the Baymont Chelsea desk who confirmed I had a room with two queen size beds for the first night, but since my reservation for Friday was for a King size bed that he couldn't let me stay in the same room. Disappointed I told him I would be arriving very late (1 a.m.) and he said he "put it in the reg'." I guess that's Baymont jargon. Arrived at 1 a.m. on the nose, Marty at the front desk said I had a single bed handicap room (for sight impaired), and a different handicap room for the second night and since I made two different room reservations I would still have to check out and check back in. I balked and said I'm obviously not sight impaired, I do not need a handicap room, would not make such a reservation, and he said well it says right here that you made this reservation with Expedia. I told him the mistake must be Baymont's, told him about the confirmation with Jamie, that I made the reservation with Hotwire not Expedia, and he kept repeating that the mistake must be mine. He then said "well against my better judgement let me see if I can put you in another room, but we are filled up tomorrow." He kept on repeating that the error was on my part and there was nothing he could do, and he said "well I don't want to argue about it," to which I raised my voice and told him "but you are indeed arguing about it." One a.m. mind you, should be understandable that I don't want to be repeatedly told that the hotel error is my mistake. I travel enough that I know what happened, they are full, they knew I was coming in late, and they thought they could get away with giving my room (the one Jamie confirmed) to someone else who they gave the wrong room to. Because I raised my voice, Marty threatened to call the police and have me kicked out without a refund. I suppose this is routine Baymont procedure for an angry Brown man who protests ill treatment. I told him to call the police, I'm not the one commiting a crime. Baymont and Marty were the ones trying to steal my money. He didn't call the police, he found a King room for the first night while I called Hotwire. You have to be careful, lots of motels in this area pull these sorts of shenanigans when nearby Ann Arbor has a home football game - you know they ALWAYS sell out. I mention Hotwire because the other people this hotel cheated mentioned Hotels.com and Hotelvalues.com - it's clearly not the third parties, the dishonest and very bad customer service is this hotel. You should be especially wary if you're not White, they think screwing you over will be backed up by the local police. Updating my original one star review as I'm still here. I had no choice as the area is sold out, the added star is for some woman named June who fixes. Nothing will make up for last night, but June fixed today's reservation while doing a dozen other things at the same time. The Hotwire support person is the one who told me "I'm sorry about last night but "June" was very nice and fixed everything so you stay in the room you're in." Hotwire tech support are trouble shooters who never say things like that. The WiFi is erratic (though I think June fixed it when it was completely down in the morning), the room door locking mechanism is upside down, the door handle very loose, and the room has no USB charging. The room is very clean with good ventilation. I don't know how long this June person can last, often people who are the only competent ones in an organization that isn't run well end up burning out, but if you need to stay here try to deal only with June.

She knows her way around so please feel welcomed to ask her for directions. Her cozy abode is quirky at first but you'll be drawn by the deep passion this lady has for these knickknacks. Home is well furnished: community bathroom, community kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and dining room (red room) for breakfast. Very clean and full of color. She cooks a pretty good "eggs in a basket" dish that's a scramble of eggs, asparagus, almonds, cranberries, and chicken/asiago cheese sausages. Croissant (so good!), coffee, tea, and orange juice is also available. She's very accommodating so don't be afraid to ask. The only issues we came across were the extra soft beds and fleece sheets that may be uncomfortable for some. Room's aren't too spacious but enough to house two people comfortably (but who stays in on a vacation?). She does have cats but they stay in her room and may roam in the breakfast area. I'm allergic to cats but they were not a problem for me at all. Please do keep the library bed and breakfast in mind the next time you come to Ann Arbor as her price is comparable and she'll make your experience a pleasurable memory!

The owner, Joan Knoertzer, indicated that she was late for an appointment, but asked for a minute, then came back and told us to come by anyway! We arrive to a non-description residence covered with grapevines and trees on Mary Street, just off the busy corner of Packard and State. You could almost throw a rock and hit the Athletic Administration building we were so close! We parked on the street and walked up the curving steps to warmly greeted by a wonderful lady decked out in full Maize and Blue. This was just the beginning, as we entered which could best described as a bibliophile paradise crossed with a museum to all things Ann Arbor/ U of M. Climbing the steps, you first encounter the Poetry and Mystery Rooms, followed by a full Pullman kitchen and sitting area. If your into Ann Arbor's past, you'll find two great hanging lights from the old Pretzel Bell Restaurant, surrounded by books of all types. Last is the Tiny Book Room, which is filled with - you guessed it - tiny books. We had a great dinner later than night at Melting Pot (review forthcoming) and went to bed early and slept great. We woke up the next morning to amazing smells coming from downstairs, where we and another couple were greeted to fresh coffee, OJ, homemade pumpkin bread and pumpkin butter! This was followed by a fruit course and an amazing quiche. Mixed with a wonderful conversation, we felt like we were totally at home. Even the three cats, Kipling, Cinnamon and, well, I forget the third, treated us well. We then spent the next hour talking about everything books - we just didn't want to leave! Trust me, there is no better place to stay in AA, especially for the price and the food. Try it, you won't be sorry!

Never again. I wish…read moreI could leave negative Stars purely on the treatment from management and ethics. To be fair there are some good points but I guess I will address those first number one the Ambiance is very nice if you like history an old architecture it's worth popping in if you are near nearby. I will also say that I am pretty critical on my coffee but it appears the coffee portion of this restaurant has its own name and I will write an extremely positive review accordingly as the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. That being said the rest of the experience was negative. We should have known something walking in when we saw what appeared to be two other local couples going to the cute little restaurant next door which looked reasonably busy and when we went in there's only one other couple there. That should have been a red flag. But it looks so quaint and Charming we wanted to try it. Her breakfast was fair but it's hard to mess up whipped cream and strawberries LOL you'd almost have to be pure evil not to like the combination LOL. My breakfast however was a disappointing experience say the least.... let me preface this with the fact that I have a pretty decent barometer 4 brisket as my buddies and I smoke brisket all the time and have been in some competitions. That being said for approximately $14 for breakfast skillet that better be some damn good brisket. And it wound up being very rubbery!!! and just taste it off like it had been sitting out forever.!!! On top of that after taking only one bite decided to send it back and the waitress could not care less and took $3 off the bill ....? basically you're telling me I ate $11 worth of Skillet after I told you to come back and have the chef taste it please!!!!!!!????? it was like it was microwaved from the previous night The sauce on it was like knock off ketchup packets or should i say katsup! Lol Rude and discourteous to say the least I'm sorry the Ambiance is great and the coffee was actually one of the best cups I ever had but to charge for food that I wouldn't even give our dogs!! just wrong and then to not even care about it no.!! We saw everyone going next door and wondered why some place so large had such little business. Now we know why all the locals were going next door and why a restaurant next to a restaurant still survives. After you eat here you will be eating next door also.

Looking from the outside I didn't see anything extremely extraordinary but when I got to the room and looked closer, this is a step above. Whether boutique is the right name or not, I really liked this place! Checked in easily even two hours early, which was great, king size bed with lots of pillows, above standard linens, Starbucks, coffee, TV refrigerator the basics until you go to the bathroom. Took me a minute to look and see the details then when my eyes got focused first thing I noticed was a full sauna shower with overhead showerhead, jets coming from the back, extendable wand, Good sized with easy push button water jets. Then to the toilet! Full state of the art bidet toilet with heated seat, heated water, spray, dryer, temperature controls not your standard bathroom. This is a $3000 toilet lol. I'm getting one for my house! Then I look at the mirror and there are buttons with Bluetooth on off and on the ceiling, Bose stereo speakers that you can sync your phone to while you take a shower and listen to music. Have to say for a little over 200 bucks a night hotels I've stayed at in New York City for $400 may have had more room, but they didn't have amenities like this. This is an older looks like a family owned business, with plenty of conference rooms, and just those extra touches that told me this place was above and beyond. Then we had to Webster's restaurant for lunch and had another great experience.. Great service, we both had soup and salad with my colleague. Having the lobster bisque. I opted for the black bean soup of the day, which was fabulous! Lots of protein lots of flavor not your standard black bean soup. The walnut cranberry salad was perfect for my diet and the full menu was actually quite inviting. Went back out to work to see another. Client came back and decided to eat dinner here so we actually sat at the bar where we had a couple of cocktails, then looked at the menu, but once I was told prime rib was a specialty. I went ahead and opted for the 12 ounce prime rib, which came out perfectly rare to medium rare. My colleague got the ribeye also medium rare. Perfect, we had a escargot and some great short rib, stuffed pastry, and au jus, couldn't really reverse engineer it, but it was quite tasty. Full bar selection, excellent brands and great wine selection. Breakfast was a little pricey, but expected. Having recently had a heart attack. I opted for the overnight oats with apple and Greek yogurt while the other dish was the American breakfast with eggs hashbrowns sausage, the Works. This is fine, dining, tablecloths, servers are all spot on, front staff is cordial and friendly. Just not something you get at a Hilton or a Marriott that we typically stay at. Price points were a little higher, but have to say I was not only pleasantly surprised but very impressed. Being an older place. There's a lot of finished wood work, sitting areas that are nicely decorated. Personally, I loved it. The next time in the area, I will gladly come back and enjoy everything they have to offer here. Highly recommend.!!
