Never again. I wish I could leave negative Stars purely on the treatment from management and ethics. To be fair there are some good points but I guess I will address those first number one the Ambiance is very nice if you like history an old architecture it's worth popping in if you are near nearby. I will also say that I am pretty critical on my coffee but it appears the coffee portion of this restaurant has its own name and I will write an extremely positive review accordingly as the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. That being said the rest of the experience was negative. We should have known something walking in when we saw what appeared to be two other local couples going to the cute little restaurant next door which looked reasonably busy and when we went in there's only one other couple there. That should have been a red flag. But it looks so quaint and Charming we wanted to try it. Her breakfast was fair but it's hard to mess up whipped cream and strawberries LOL you'd almost have to be pure evil not to like the combination LOL. My breakfast however was a disappointing experience say the least.... let me preface this with the fact that I have a pretty decent barometer 4 brisket as my buddies and I smoke brisket all the time and have been in some competitions. That being said for approximately $14 for breakfast skillet that better be some damn good brisket. And it wound up being very rubbery!!! and just taste it off like it had been sitting out forever.!!! On top of that after taking only one bite decided to send it back and the waitress could not care less and took $3 off the bill ....? basically you're telling me I ate $11 worth of Skillet after I told you to come back and have the chef taste it please!!!!!!!????? it was like it was microwaved from the previous night The sauce on it was like knock off ketchup packets or should i say katsup! Lol Rude and discourteous to say the least I'm sorry the Ambiance is great and the coffee was actually one of the best cups I ever had but to charge for food that I wouldn't even give our dogs!! just wrong and then to not even care about it no.!! We saw everyone going next door and wondered why some place so large had such little business. Now we know why all the locals were going next door and why a restaurant next to a restaurant still survives. After you eat here you will be eating next door also. read more

It's been a year since my last review... and I feel like it needs another update. I have gone a few times since my last review, and it has consistently been great. The 1/2 sandwich and soup runs about $6.95 and is delicious. The bread is super fresh, and the soups at Clinton Inn are always awesome and homemade (it appears to be the owners favorite thing to make :)). The fish fry is pretty good, though the breading seems a little too thick, and I'm not the biggest fan of the hush puppies (just hush puppies in general, so no fault of Clinton Inn). The fries are always great, and have some cheese on them. All you can eat on Friday nights for $9.99 - great deal. The service is hit or miss b/c I'm sure they don't have a great selection out here in the boonies. It really is the best place in Clinton to eat. I noticed someone else gave a one-star review because of an over-priced brunch. I have a very hard time understanding this comment, as the brunch is $10.99/person. I have not seen the price go up double during a holiday weekend - though admittedly, I don't go for every holiday weekend. Also, while eating at the Clinton Inn, I have never been cramped into a corner - and I've eaten here more times than I can count. It most certainly does get busy during a holiday brunch. Finally, I have had an in-experienced server here and there, though never a rude server. I think this place is well worth the money, and at this level of quality, there is no place that is as cheap and solid as the Clinton Inn. It's at the same level as Evans Street (in Tecumseh), Weber's (in Ann Arbor), or Mac's (in Saline) - all cost more and are of equal or lesser deliciousness. This place has gone downhill. Sad. During the Festival this weekend they used paper plates and plastic drink glasses for their brunch. Leftover tacky decorations on the walls from a previous night's wedding. One dinner companion had a cracked plastic drink glass for an upscale drink that leaked in the table, and the seating had melted ice cubes from from the previous customers than we sat in and got soaked. This place won't be around much longer. Sad. read more

The Clinton Inn - Hotels Near Me - Clinton, Michigan

I live near (~3 miles) the Clinton Inn. I have been there many times. The soup & 1/2 sandwich lunch specials are my favorites. I am not really into deep fried fish, but on Fish Fry Fridays they also have baked or pan fried fish on the specials list. Oh yes, they usually have a steak special as well. What I am trying to say is that the chef (owner) is "into" healthy foods as well. The $10.99 Sunday brunch is very hard to beat. Of course, on special events like Mother's Day, reservations are necessary. When my mother was alive, she always wanted to go to the Clinton Inn on Mother's day. Normally, seating is not a problem. They have two dining rooms and the tavern. My favorite is the tavern. Speaking of the tavern, they have a good selection of beers (limited, but good). In my opinion, there are three good restaurants in this area: Mac's Seafood in Saline, Evans Street Station in Tecumseh and Clinton Inn. Besides good food, these three restaurants all have one thing in common. They all have professional chefs. read more

Homemade is what it's all about! The best steak, soup, salad, sandwiches and they always cook our steaks perfectly! Even their dressings are homemade! Great staff, the best food and it's nice to see a place that could have been open during the pioneer days! If you like beautiful architecture and antiques- this is the place for you! read more

Went here for lunch today. One of the worst dinning experiences I have ever had. My friend ordered a beer and it came to the table warm. I ordered a sandwich and my friend ordered a wrap. We sat waiting patiently for over 40 minutes. While waiting 3 other tables around us were seated and served we asked about our food and the waitress was like oh yeah sorry about that. They finally brought our food out. The fries were soggy and the sandwich was not what I ordered. I asked to see the manager and she was one of the rudest women I had ever met. When we explained the situation she gave us a dirty look and said yes you were made the wrong sandwich. I can get you another. I said not if will take 40 minutes and she snatched the plate off my table and walked away saying then ill take it off your bill. So I never even got any lunch. Would never recommend this place to anyone and will absolutely never even attempt to eat here again. The worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. read more

My father and I had dinner at The Clinton Inn today. It was delicious and I was surprised by how reasonable the meal prices are. The owner herself served us and was very friendly, going out of her way to help us enjoy our experience. I plan to take friends there again soon. read more

The Clinton Inn is what you would expect for a little small town. In Iowa. The Inn is historic, and old. The patrons are also that way. Which is why I think my parents liked it here. I kind of felt like the paintings in the room I was eating at had moving eyes, and I kept thinking it would be great to host a haunted dinner here. We went for Easter brunch, which was significantly jacked up because normally it was $10 for brunch. My sister made reservations and it was $18. I think the brunch is the same though. It's not bad by any stretch, just nothing out of the ordinary. My sister commented that the chocolates in the dessert tasted waxy, so i tempted her with purchasing some Clinton Inn chocolates as a prize when she left (she declined). This is not a place I'd run back to, but if you are in the area, give it a try for your own opinions. I would say this: our waitress was somewhat sour faced. She was not super pleasant, even when I wished her a Happy Easter. She sorta had the gait of Mary Magdalene when they removed Jesus from the cross. But maybe she was just pissed she wasn't spending Easter with her boyfriend. Dunno. The blueberry cheesecake was pretty good according to my Dad. We always take out-of-town visitors to the Clinton Inn, the menu has something from everyone, nothing fancy just good food. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and the service is always good. We came here for Mother's Day brunch and it was very disappointing. I was shocked with how rude some of the staff was, but it was very crowded having a one-sided buffet line where they had to constantly squeeze in between guests to replenish lukewarm food. I discovered the Clinton Inn a few years ago when I needed to find a special place for a big family dinner --Thanksgiving, actually. In a world of plastic eateries and fake decor, the Clinton Inn is an authentic gem. The interior is straight out of the late 19th century; warm, woody and classy in a casual way. The food was excellent --tasty, plenty of classic dishes prepared with care and with a nod to modern sensibilities, too. If you have an appreciation for history and are looking for a small-town venue for a special and memorable meal, this is that place. Lest you think I let the atmosphere overwhelm my culinary judgement, I should point out that this Chicago boy left the restaurant pleasantly stuffed and anxious to return --for the food. read more
