If you're staying overnight in Fairfield, you've either been hoodwinked into thinking this is near Napa Valley (not really) or you're there for a brief work trip. There aren't many hotel options and no higher-end ones. This Comfort Inn mistakenly is identified as a 3-star option on many online booking sites. It most definitely is not. Some of the highlights: * Worst shower ever - basically we didn't have a working shower. Ours was clearly busted but by the time we found out, we only had a short time to get ready. We could not adjust the water temp, so we would be hit with sudden blasts of freezing cold water. The only option was to stop the water, soap up and hope you would have enough warm water to rinse off. * The place was noisy. Both in our room (ancient AC unit) and outside, where the lack of soundproofing is painfully obvious as you hear all the comings and goings throughout the night (and there are many!). * Threadbare bedding and holes in curtains. This room is strictly no frills. But there is a minifridge and a microwave in the room. * Breakfast not great - watery coffee, old/stale muffins, along with the standard make-your-own waffles and wet eggs. But it IS free. So there is that. It wasn't TERRIBLE for one night, except for the awful shower experience. I only paid $76 on Priceline, but the hotel does charge a $150 - $200 deposit to your credit card when you arrive. And to give you an idea of what is going on in the hotel, a large sign at the front desk proclaims something like: "If there is a Do Not Disturb sign on your room for 4 days, we're coming in" - I'm paraphrasing of course. But it definitely seems like people may be living there and maybe not doing wholesome things on property. I have another business trip to Fairfield coming up and I won't consider this hotel again. read more

There was some kind of domestic dispute in front of the hotel on my first night which delayed my checkin at midnight. We felt very unsafe at this hotel. There was a car fight and police had to come. The glass on the floor in the driveway remain there for a couple days which made it hard to park. The first room I was in looked in really bad condition, especially the bathroom. There was also a pubic hair on the shower walls. Also, in another room in my section there was a strong marijuana smell that filled the halls and went into my room all day and night. Which made it hard to breathe for my elderly mother and gave us a headache and nausea for several days. We were sick at the funeral we had to attend. The front desk would not allow us to get a refund to stay at another hotel forcing us to stay in this unsafe and unkept place. When I changed rooms my shower was clogged. The housekeeper/maintenance person couldn't speak English and we had a hard time communicating. The hotel service doesn't do daily cleaning. To get towels I have to turn in old towels to the front desk. Other hotels bring it straight to your doorway. The breakfast served the same thing everyday. The eggs were really hard and overcooked. I paid double at this hotel compared to neighboring hotels because I thought it would be a better hotel. I was very mistaken and very disappointed. read more

the reception lady was rude and rolled her eyes at us when we were asking questions and talking to her and overall didn't show mutual respect until we showed that we were able to pay the security deposit. when we arrived at our room there was left over stuff from the last guest showcasing how it wasn't cleaned in-between guests and there were no batteries in the remote at all also left over strawberry cheesecake from last guest in the fridge. wouldn't recommend staying here. read more

Stayed here one night with my wife following a family dinner in Napa. This is definitely a no-frills hotel with all the necessary basics, average styling, and no luxuries. Some of the rooms open to the outside, while others are indoors, giving his a motel-hotel mix. The front desk staff were polite enough, but the attendant was reportedly new to the building and could not direct me to our room. The room itself was clean and included all the indicated amenities, and the bed was comfortable enough. There were a few breakfast options, including cereal, toast, fried eggs, waffle batter, yogurt, and oranges. We did not notice particular smells as indicated in the other reviews aside from the hallways being obviously worn and dated. But that's par for the course with this brand of hotels - you won't be impressed but staying here for a night or two isn't terrible. If you're looking for a more trendy place you may want to keep looking, but a simple overnight stay is adequate. read more

I always have a good feeling about Comfort Inn. This chain seems to deliver good comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. The only problem is some of the Comfort Inn has a very thin wall. You can hear the room next to you or the hallway! This Comfort Inn doesn't have this problem! Everything in this comfort Inn very new. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. Good size bathroom and bathtub. The shower has good water pressure. No or very low noise inside the room. The check-in is fast and smooth. The lady working in the lobby is so nice and attentive. Breakfast is included and pretty good in a good and clean breakfast room with many tables available. Free parking in this Comfort Inn and it looks very safe. I did not see any homeless around the area. I am there after 9 pm and I have a parking space not far from the lobby. They do record the license plate number when you check in to the hotel. read more

Had good experiences with other Comfort Inns in other locations, but we had one miserable night her before we canceled the rest of the reservation and switched hotels for the rest of our stay. Annoying beeping in the room, front desk refused to switch rooms or have maintenance come fix it. Wifi was down the entire stay. Worst stay ever. Horrible. We arrived early. They made us wait 4 hours. To get a dirty room. Dirty tub with used soap still in it. A pocket knife lodged in seat. Thankfully, no one was hurt. I emailed the manager and got no response. No email and no phone call. There was a hole behind the door. Nothing was done about anything. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The deposit was crazy $500. It wasn't even nice and clean. Oh, the pool looked dirty too. $390 for 2 nights to get a dirty room. Ridiculously Horrible. We picked this place because it's the least expensive place within general proximity to Napa. The place is generally a dump. Our first room had ants. I noticed the ants in the bathroom right when we got into the room and thought it should be a non-issue if they were only in the bathroom. But then once we pulled back the sheets, there were a few ants under the sheets, like 5. I pulled up the mattress and found 1 ant under there. Then I noticed there were ants on the night stands. The second room was fine but the air conditioner stinks like mildew. It's pretty gross. The rooms really need touch ups and deep cleaning. The shower is stained. You can tell they have scrubbed the shower but it's just not coming clean. The bathroom needs lots of touch up paint. There are stains, paint chips and who knows what else all over the walls and floor boards. If you have no other choice, this is an okay place to stay. I didn't see any roaches or bed bugs. If you don't want to smell mildew and wonder if things are actually clean, go elsewhere. On a good note, the lady checking us in and switching our room was polite. read more

If you just need a no frills place to lay your head, this place will work. One issue that needs attention is the plumbing. Be careful as you shower...if an adjacent room flushes, you'll either be scalded or get a freezing rush of water. Don't expect much. It's clean and actually cozy. Period. read more

We chose this location for a one night stay close to the dealership where we were picking up our new RV. I was not expecting elegant surroundings at that price point, but there were a couple issues likely due to our room location. Unfortunately we were directly across from the swimming pool and the shrieks and hollering of children went on into the evening. The door to our room was exceedingly hard to open - the self closing device made it very difficult. The bathroom door would not stay open. The Dollar Store toilet seat was a bit small and flimsy but it did not break! We did not use the air conditioner but we did get to hear other units! Other guests started out their day talking loudly and slamming doors at 5:00 a.m. As for the rest of the room, the USB charger was broken and the fluorescent light in the entry flickered. But the bedding was quite lovely, loads of pillows, the window while very grimy did open and there was a very nice maple tree right outside and some cheerful oleanders. As for the free breakfast ... It was edible. Not great. There was no syrup or butter except artificially sweetened syrup and margarine. The coffee was abysmally watery but it was hot. I'm not impressed by the food at all. But the things that mattered were great! Big Samsung TV on DISH network, loads of clean fluffy towels, the bedding was clean and crisp and adequate. I brought my own down pillow, which is my usual habit. This appears to be an older building with an attempt at renovation. New toilet (seat notwithstanding) new countertop and sink, good lighting, good mattress, black out curtains. I cannot blame the noise on the facility. Some people are just loud! read more

The rooms was OK. It was weird they painted the shower wall and it's now peeling off. Bed was hard. Rest of the room was OK. They did give a lot a pillows. The downside was is they advertised breakfast and have pictures of a decent hotel style. Nope...it's a bag with a frozen 7-11 sausage sandwich. And gross coffee packets. At the least you should have fresh coffee if advertising this. Fruit? Nope. So for the price we were hoping to have something editable. Between the room and that, it was what it was. We've been staying at The Comfort Inn off & on for the past year. I'm currently homeless, as well as, permanently disabled. My boyfriend attempted to extend our stay online & when he went down to the front to pay for our room, we were told that since we'd been there for 4 days without room service...we had to check out/leave within the hour! Additionally when we've notified them in the past when something wasn't working, they would take days to send someone out to repair anything to the point where our room flooded. Not to mention the owners are rude/very unprofessional, their front door staff is, as well...Super lazy too. We're to the point where I'm going to have to contact corporate & bring my Disabilities Lawyer into it, that way they won't EVER Attempt to do this to anyone EVER Again! read more

Worst check in experience ever. I showed up 10 minutes early (check in is 4:00, not 3:00 as is the normal time for most hotels). The staff wouldn't allow anyone to check in before 4:00. So there were 4 of us standing around, waiting for the clock to strike 4:00. This is an absurd practice. There are also no bathrooms in the lobby. One gentleman waiting needed to use the restroom, but they weren't open. Every other hotel I've ever been to has gone out of their way to be accommodating. I once showed up 2 hrs early to a hotel and just asked if I could store my bag until check in time. They told me, "We have a room available now if you'd like" The place isn't very clean. Ok so it's not as bad as some of these reviews! I was worried given some of the reviews however that was not my experience. We were allowed to check in an hour early. Try being cordial and nice and maybe you'll be allowed as well. While checking in the person at the window who wasn't very cheerful or smiley asked someone over the radio if a room was available she yelled at her to not let ppl check in till 330 at least but she still allowed us to. Maybe you shouldn't yell at your employees in front of customers . Maybe that's why she's not a happy employee ?! We got room on the 3rd floor so I can't tell if it's loud being on one of the lower levels . I did see a few ants in the bathroom only I carry my own cleaning supplies so I lysoled the bathroom and I didn't see anymore after that. I Clorox wiped all the high touch surface areas and everything was very clean WITH the exception of the air condition unit on off cool buttons. That was kinda gross but that's why I clean everything myself. I did all this prior to covid too. Oh the breakfast sack they give you had a water bottle a granola bar and a jimmy dean breakfast sandwich that needed to be put in something that they didn't give you so we used napkins from the day before . I hate to admit but I am a smoker, I cannot smoke even on the balcony of this establishment so I go to the parking lot. In 2 nights I have watched a drug exchange, homeless walking across the lot, and 2 individuals assist injecting each other in what I hope to be Covid vaccines. I've been approached by maybe 3-4 homeless asking for cigarettes or screaming nonsense at themselves. There is zero, I mean absolute zero security here. I booked this hotel due to it's proximity to the Cosmetology State Board Exam site & felt that this hotel would be clean & safe for my one night stay. I was quoted $82 a night & my credit card statement showed a charge of over a 100, keep in mind this is just for one person, one bed, one night. If I had known this would be the final charge I would have stayed @ a much nicer hotel & in hindsight I should have. So in addition to the over charge, which I would have overlooked there was a BUG in my bed. Room 218: I was sitting up in bed studying & out from under the sheet a bug crawled out. I immediately called the front desk 5x's & not one person picked up the phone. I took a picture of the bug went to the front desk & the lady looked @ the picture & said, "Would you like fresh sheets" I looked @ her & said, I sincerely don't think a change of sheets would take care of your bed bug issue. The lady told me to come back @ 5am when I was going to check out & show the person on staff @ that time. I was not offered a refund, a discount, nothing besides a change of sheets. After insistence they changed my room, but in all honesty I slept very little sitting in a chair in the new room as I was afraid of bugs being in the new bed. I also took all of my personal belongings & put them in my car for fear bugs would crawl into my suitcase & I would end up bringing back home more than my state board license. When I went to check out there was no one @ the front desk & due to time restraints I couldn't wait around to show the new person the pic. At first everything was going well, everything was fairly clean, I don't really have any complaints about the cleanness and tidiness. At first I seen a bunch of "mosquito bites" on different parts of my arm and neck they really did look like mosquitoes bites and they were itchy too. I was watching my favorite show on the bed on my laptop and when I look skin I had those bumps everywhere so I knew I was having an allergic reaction. By night time (I check around 5:00), about 30% of my body was full of this allergy rash and if you itched it, it got worse. I had to stay there the whole night and I slept only a couple hours. If not Less. I didn't take any pictures expect a small video of my legs because I didn't plan on giving a review but my experience was very awful. I didn't know what it was whether it's the detergent they use or the fabric. I DIDNT KNOW. I. Not allergic to anything but cats and dogs and probably other animals. This happened two days ago, im basically healed now. Definitely won't be returning :) read more

I decided to try out this place for one night for a work event. The receptionist was not very friendly nor was she helpful. It was honestly very awkward. There was a line behind me but she didn't say anything like sorry for the wait or try to start a conversation. She should really step up on being friendly or find someone else. Having someone being friendly in the front is really the best impression you can have. I'm a store manager I know I have to train my employees to be friendly so people have a good time in my store. Also the beds and the pillows are super comfortable so I have to be glad about that. The last thing I think is the absolute worst is the damn windows. The curtains in front are very thin and normally the second ones are to pull in front to give privacy and also block out the bright morning sun for sleeping in right ? Well they do not pull and block anything. It is the worst design I have ever seen ! I never sleep in past 6 am and I was excited to sleep in but I was very wrong to be excited. Front desk was very friendly and clean. When I open the door to my room, first thing I noticed was the bed very slouched in the center and the "funk" smell of the room. Bathroom has mildew smell and shower tile is pretty poor. Clean carpet and room. Not a nice room, but survivable. Also, they have in room CD players just incase you still have CDs. read more

We stayed at this Comfort Inn on Aug 13-14th. The room was quite nice and comfortable. About the only malfunction was the TV. It had to be set real high on the volume. The location is excellent. The only disappointment was the complimentary breakfast. One of my primary reasons for selecting it was the commercial where the guy has all these choices for breakfast and ends up taking all the bacon. Also the hotel website shows two separate pans with meat and eggs. There was only one hot pan and it had eggs. Very good eggs, but no meat protein to enjoy the eggs with. The second morning we had sausage and I thought that will go good with the eggs, but was told it was one or the other, so there was only sausage the 2nd morning. My bet is that there truly is only one hot plate. Or this facility decided to cut corners and only serve one in the AM. Who knows, but the breakfast leaves alot to be desired. Strongly recommend Comfort Inn redo their commercials and take out the picture on the website showing protein choices that were obviously not there. read more

I haven't written a review in forever, and I don't know that I have ever written one this long, but if you are thinking of staying here, you definitely should! I'm not sure why this place has no many negative reviews- we had a great stay, at a great price. They are currently undergoing renovations, so maybe that explains it. Everything here seems really clean, fresh and new. The bed was comfy, with plenty of pillows, and they don't have those awful thick, fuzzy, weird blankets that you ONLY ever see in hotels! The linens were nice- stylish, even. Actually the decor was downright impressive (especially for a budget hotel). The staff were courteous and helpful, especially the manager. He was outgoing & friendly, and really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Wifi was free, and fairly reliable. Breakfast is served from 6-10 am, and in addition to your typical fruit, bagels, muffins, yogurt, etc, there were eggs (hard boiled and scrambled) sausage, wheat toast, and make-your-own waffles. The staff kept everything well stocked. They also have coffee & tea in the lobby all day. There is a pool, although it's nothing to write home about. nor is the fitness room. As for the reviews that state there are no microwaves or fridges in the room- ours DID have them. Again, maybe the recent renovations are the explanation. My few complaints are so trivial, and really, this place has more than anyone should expect from a budget hotel. The location is great for visiting Napa, and not too far from San Francisco, or even Sacramento, San Jose, etc. there's not much around the hotel except for fast food & gas stations. I arrived at the hotel for check in at 3:30pm. My company who paid for the room was told that I would be able to check in at 3:00pm. I was informed check in isn't until 4:00pm by the front desk. While I was waiting two parties arrived to check in. The first guest a single black man ( like myself ) was told check in is at 4:00 and he would have to wait until that time to check in. The next guest ( a party of 4 white males ) were allowed to check in. The time is now 3:45pm and the employee was happy to check these guest in. Before handing the second party their rooms keys the employee turn to me and said your room will be ready next. Can someone explain to me why this continues to happen? read more
