This hotel needs some repairs and updates. It's an old building that needs some love. When I checked in, they gave me a room on the top floor, which sounded like an awesome view. Unfortunately, the door wouldn't open, and their solution was to give me a room on the second floor instead, which was across the street from a noisy bar. The fitness room only has one elliptical and one treadmill, and the treadmill doesn't work. The breakfast room is kind of small with limited seating. So there are a lot of imperfections at this hotel. Three stars would be too few. You probably cannot beat the price for a decent hotel in this area. The location is amazing in the heart of downtown Montreal, very convenient to trains and BIXI bikesharing. Though there's noise from the street, including the bar I mentioned, it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. One might say that the locale gives the hotel a little character. The hotel is clean and seems reasonably safe. My room was large with a comfortable bed. The shower worked great. The free breakfast was pretty good, with both hot and cold foods and a good selection of fresh fruit. The free Wi-Fi worked well. The staff are polite, helpful, and bilingual (which is good for me since my French is limited). They have a locked luggage storage room in case you have a late-departing flight. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. If you want something fancy, this isn't it. If you want a hotel room that gives you a good night of sleep and a good breakfast, it works. read more

Overall, the central location is good but I'm sure there are much nicer hotels if that's what you're looking for. Don't take the valet parking, all they do is drive your car to the parking garage and make them come with you so you know where it is and then they won't get it back for you, you have to. The Comfort Suites Downtown Montreal is located on Crescent Street between St-Catherine and Rene Levesque Ouest. This location for the price really can't be beat. I had just completed a work trip with my coworker and decided that we'd stay downtown instead of closer to the office so we'd be more west in the morning when we left and it was actually more affordable than where we were staying in the south shore even with the overnight parking we'd have to pay for. There's a parking lot directly across the street and the overnight price is 25 dollars. You have to leave your keys as it's not a self park lot. The hotel for the most part is clean. I had the impression that it was a little run down that what I'm more used to seeing. The carpets in the floor hallways didn't seem that clean. There were 2 large black bags of garbage left outside one of the rooms on my floor for hours. The elevators have a lot of brass colored bling look but most look dented and tarnished. The common areas essentially looked worn. As for my unit I had an end corner unit and there's a long hallway after entering the room leading to the main area of the unit. They have a microwave and refrigerator but I noticed the environmental control seemed rather loud. It seems all units have balcony units. Mine was fine but my coworker said his balcony door didn't seem to shut properly so it was cold in his room and because of that he had to have his heat on constantly which was noisy and because of that he didn't get a good nights rest. I paid for both rooms so I feel it's ok to include my coworker's experience in this. The room is broken up in two with the couch and coffee table being on one side and the bed and TV on the other. There's a partition which separates the two sections and while you can turn the TV a bit its rather hard to watch TV from the couch. The balcony we had faced west and the only view is a condo unit directly across. Facing east may have had a better view. They serve a free breakfast after 630 but we left to get on the road before that so we missed it. The rest of the room while acceptable has some other signs of wear and tear such as the in the bathroom the ceiling in my room seemed a bit cracked. Overall the place is just OK. We didn't have to pay that much for this stay as there wasn't anything going on at the Centre Bell (no Canadiens game) which I'm sure drives the price higher during game nights. A huge plus for the hotel however is that it's a great location. It's very close to rapid transit (Bio-Train, Lucien L'Allier) as well as Concordia University, Rue St-Catherine businesses, the Centre Bell and many restaurants in the area. read more

We have been in Montreal since Saturday afternoon 'til today and stayed at the Comfort Suites. There was a small balcony and here was our view. While it was too cold out to enjoy it, it was nice to be able to let some fresh air in. It was a good sized room and was considered a "bedroom suite" (I guess that's why there was that small wall between the couch and bed) with a "city view". There was a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, etc. Continental breakfasts and WIFI (it was quick) were included. I choose this hotel because it's downtown but it's also on a strip that is packed with restaurants and bars ... there were lots to choose from. St. Catherine Street W is a half block away with lots of shopping and more restaurants and bars. We walked to Old Montreal yesterday (it was about 3km away) and we walked to Mount Royal on Sunday. There is construction next door to the hotel that starts about 7am (I knew that when I booked it). We live in downtown Toronto so we are used to noise so it didn't bother us. The cost was $108/night (that's the CAA/AAA rate). Though it's not a fancy hotel and the bathroom could use some work, we thought it was fine and would stay here again. For the price that you pay at this hotel, it is excellent. Its a bit older for a hotel but the rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable, parking across the street in lot is guaranteed with room for additional cost and breakfast is included. The location of this hotel is prime and metro station very close by, would highly recommend for a short stay. Staff were amazing and very friendly especially both Puma & Yogesh who helped us at checkin & were able to accommodate a room change so that we were able to get two queen beds to make our stay more comfortable for our Formula One weekend!! I had an absolutely amazing time at my stay here! Not only was the location so convenient for shopping and getting on the metro but it was perfect for having a view of downtown! My view from my hotel was outstanding and the staff were so friendly and helpful! The guy at the front, Paul, along with the others but he stood out the most helped me in anything that I needed and were just very chill and gave off great vibes! I honestly wasn't expecting much from my room from the reviews I read on yelp but it was so comfy and actually very very nice! From my oh so comfortable king size bed to my amazing view from my balcony! My room was extremely nice and i enjoyed my stay fully!! I will most definitely stay here again when I revisit Montréal! I will also say I came here by myself and I felt extremely safe my whole stay! Oh and the FREE breakfast was great too! Overall, the hotel was quite good and the rooms were spacious. Location: was great as you are in core downtown but will have to drive to old Montreal. Room: The room was quite big and clean. Their were the basics like TV, coffee maker, fridge, microwave etc...The room quite spacious and also had a balcony. Breakfast: was included and they did serve eggs. The sitting space was quite small. Service: was quite good the check in and check out were simple. The staff was friendly specially the manager. One of our bill was charged higher but after one call to the manager and he remembered us and rectify the bill. WiFi: free wifi is included. Parking: was a problem as the hotel has none. The parking beside the hotel are a rip off and charge like $20 for the night for an SUV. The Street parking you will have to get up early to move your car. But the manager showed us another parking lot on GUY street which was charging max of $13. read more

Came for Grand Prix weekend and you can't find a better location than this place. Only a half block from Crescent where all the festivities were and tons of restaurants/stores everywhere. Room was nice and comfortable. Wi-Fi was kind of slow, but it was free. Breakfast did not change each morning, but there's enough there to get a variety (eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, waffles, yogurt, muffins, fruits, cereal, coffee, juice). Staff was very nice and made sure your needs were taken care of. We were also able to book for next year's Grand Prix at the same rate without knowing the date of the actual race. read more

I stayed in this hotel a couple months ago and absolutely enjoyed my stay! The staff were very patient with me as I called and cancelled one of my rooms the day before my stay & also checked in after midnight. The room was nice and spacious and the balcony had to have been the best part! (14th floor, city view) The king sized bed was so comfortable that I missed my alarm I had set to see the sunrise (bummer). The bathroom was roomy and very well lit, however the water pressure in the shower wasn't too great and due to the low siding on the shower, the water escaped the stall and got all over the bathroom floor. The only bad thing I'd have to say about this place is that they seem to randomly decide the rates of their rooms. They aren't bad prices for their location (Crescent St. bar & club central) but it upset me to know that I was charged $20 more for the same room as a friend of mine booked for the same night only five minutes before me. Like I said though, the price still was not bad and I would stay here again if I needed to. read more

We stayed here in early August and were generally very pleased with the room. Check in was easy, there is a small elevator and a very generous breakfast every morning included in your room charge. The breakfast featured hot items such as eggs, sausages and toast as well as cereal, coffee, bagels and fresh fruit. There was also a fruit juice machine and coffee, although the coffee was not very good. Our room was clean and comfortable with a king size bed, desk, sofa and coffee table. There was also a small fridge and a balcony, although there was no furniture on the balcony. Very close to Saint Catherine Street. Don't bother with the lot directly across from the hotel. There are cheaper places if you just look around the area a little more. We parked in an area on the next street over almost parallel to the recommended lot. Easy access to the metro and highways. The only major detracting factor was that we were harassed by several homeless in the area in the evening and one very aggressive one followed us right to the doors of the hotel. Fortunately, we were unharmed but it was not a pleasant experience. The area does not seem particularly unsafe during the day but definitely use caution if you're returning to the hotel later in the evening. read more

While in an amazing neighbourhood with shops and restaurants to your left and the Basilica Marie-Reine and business areas to your right, the street itself is full of bars and is very loud at night. The rooms are all non-smoking which is great. The bathrooms are a little out of date but its good enough, especially what you are paying. Continental breakfast is only ok, there is real, fruit, scrambled eggs, bagels (not montreal bagels, store-bought average ones). Coffee and juices, of course. The hallways are hilariously small - literally closet-sized, but the rooms themselves are good. Anyways, a good cheap option to stay at although again the street its on isn't great if you aren't an up-late type of person. Lots of drunk people making noise at night. read more

This is the worst Comfort Suites I have ever stayed in. It felt dirty from the minute you stepped in. When I stepped out onto the "balcony" I saw a dirty alley , construction and apartments across the way. Wallpaper was bubbling and bathroom door had water rot. I asked for s room change and they were at 100%. I would not return or recommend unless you like the low price. Maybe that makes it a bargain. read more

Location Location Location! Bring your walking shoes because this hotel is in walking distance to all major attractions and parts of the city. We travelled with our dog (very dog friendly hotel without size or bread restrictions) and were able to take her with us and bring her back to the hotel without really having to go out of our way. The hotel is located in one the busier streets which we enjoyed because we were able to end the night in one of the neighboring pubs without having to go far. The rooms were spacious and clean, breakfast was meh. Had better ones before but good enough for a coffee and a toast to start your day more relaxed and not have to worry about rushing to breakfast right away. read more

This hotel is in a great location in downtown Montreal so we chose it for our weekend visit there. Parking is tough in the city so there was an additional $40 charge for parking for the weekend which may be the normal. The hotel floors were small so it was harder to get on the same floor with other friends but the room was big and in decent condition. We also got a continental breakfast with our room, which was okay, good enough if you are trying to save some money, but if not it would be much better to explore other options. Overall great location, decent room but nothing special, okay price. Would check this hotel out again if I go back to Montreal depending on the rates. read more

A solid place to stay. It's not glamorous, but it's a perfect downtown hotel for sleeping in. What else do you really do in a hotel? The rooms are spacious enough for a family of four. The furniture and decor in the rooms has been recently redone. It's clean. The staff is nice, bilingual, and overall very helpful. The elevators are a bit slow, and the hallways look like they were sort of forgotten in the renovation, but I chose to, well....hang out in our room when we were in town and not in the elevators or the hallways! Breakfast was included, and it was perfect for getting the system going again after a night of drinking Molson Canadian. But, it's nothing more than that. Save some room for brunch at one of the millions of good places to eat anywhere in Montreal. Pricing was excellent, they offered a AAA rate, and our room was about $110/night. Good price for a downtown hotel room. There is parking next door, which is usually $20 per day, but it's $25 day per day when there is an "event." Meaning, anytime something in Montreal is happening, it's $25. Yes, it's expensive to park, but it's convenient. It's cheaper than parking in NYC or other big cities. read more

For the value of the location, Comfort Suites is a TEN out of five stars. Rue Crescent is known as one of Montréal's most thriving streets for nightlife, food and fun. The atmosphere on Crescent is best described as relaxing, carefree and diverse. At under $100 USD a night, the value can't be beat. This was my second stay at this location, but three years ago it was known as Quality Inn. The rooms were average in cleanliness. Nothing out of the ordinary. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Whenever we had a question they were there to answer or offer recommendations. Pro: I believe all the rooms have a balcony. We were on the side that overlooked Rue Crescent and it was a nice view and fun to people watch at night, especially when the bars started to close. If you get a room in the back, the top floors are best or else you're just staring at a creepy alley. Con: The water pressure is HORRIBLE. I felt like I needed to shower twice as long just to rinse the soap off my hair and body. On the bright side, sink and shower water did get very hot and the bathroom is spacious. Didn't get to try the continental breakfast, but heard it was nothing special. Rooms come with mini fridge, microwave, hair dryer, flatscreen TV with a fair amount of channels, and Wi-Fi. Don't be afraid to call the front desk and ask for the password as they do change it from time to time. Parking is $25 a day in the lot next door. Not bad. Overall a great place stay if you want to be in the midst of everything downtown and are mainly here to sleep. Only a 10-15 minute walk to Eaton Center shopping. Everything is close by. There's a convenience store next to this hotel that is half convenience store/half pizza shop that has the BEST poutine (but also offers many other food options) and is open super late on most nights as they get a lot of their business from people going out after the clubs close. read more

Stayed for four days in mid June. The room was cheap, but cheerful. Our only issue was the lack of towels, there were three of us in the room, and they kept only giving us two bath towels and a few hand towels. One day they only gave us one towel and no bath mat, and when the cleaning lady came by to drop off the towels we requested​she only had a bath mat, and more hand towels?! The other weird issue was I requested two extra pillows, because the king bed only has two pillows and two cushions. I call the front desk, he says to look in the closet, I tell him I did but we're using that pillow for the sleeper sofa. He says they don't have pillows, but then shows up with two pillows. This was really nice of him, and I thank him. But then he says he needs to enter the room and check how many pillows we have. Then he gets upset that I didn't count the cushions as pillows. It was very uncomfortable. Aside from that the hotel is in a good area close to tons of shops, restaurants, McGill University, and the metro. At night on the weekends this area is very noisy, so if you go to bed early you may be rudely awakened by the noise in the alley below. Parking was 20$ a day in a lot next to the hotel. You must pay cash in advance so be prepared. Also, the breakfast was good, but the dining room is very tiny and gets packed, so get there early if you want a seat. On the menu was a waffle machine, fruits, yogurts, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, and juice and coffee. read more

Best part of this hotel is definitely the location. Right downtown, near lots of restaurants and night life. Rooms are average we had a double with a pullout couch and it came with a microwave and fridge. Continental breakfast was terrible even for a hotel...we were only able to eat it because we were SO HUNGRY. Also, there is parking, but it is not included in your room cost. It is an additional 25 CAD per night and they give you this tiny slip of paper and if you lose it they won't return your car...kinda scary. They also moved my car which was a little uncomfortable. Booked this hotel initially based off the price and location to the Belle Centre. Our room was missing the closet doors, and the shower curtain looked like it had dried blood all over it. We stayed one night in this room due to the neighbors across and next to us slamming doors, kids screaming, and basically hearing everything going on outside. When we told the consierge about this he was unamused and just moved our room. Even told him about the shower curtain and he could care less. Once we moved a few floors up, the room was better, however could still hear doors slamming outside of my room. Breakfast was gross, and the hotel in itself needs more renovating. Sound proof rooms for starters and a new paint job outside in the hallways. Won't be staying here again. read more

The hotel was very spacious and a reasonable cost for downtown. There were towels brought to our door and there was in no way any shortage if yogurt. on a school trip we stayed at this hotel thinking it would be a lovely place to stay and boy where we wrong on the second day of the trip we had pillows taken from our room leaving a student pillow less which they refused to bring us a extra one then the third day we found a used condom between the bedside table and bed which took them an hour to come clean up and on our final day we ran out of toilet paper which we called for in the morning and after multiple calls we finally received a roll at 12:00 pm and the front desk worker had to bring it to us then 10/10 would never recommend read more

So, to start with the good: great location downtown for nightlife of all kinds (maybe also a negative for families--"erotic massage" joint two doors down Crescent Street), close to McGill, Concordia, Old Town, shopping, restaurants, metro, and staff really go out of way to speak your preferred language and accommodate your needs. But the bad: rooms, hallways, stairs need renovation, noisy at night and early in morning, breakfast room so small we had to eat in the lobby, parking options are Kafkaesque, wifi slow as sap running down maple trees in the Quebec winter, and owners appear to be engaging in the outer limits of deferred maintenance. Case in point: while we were there at the tail end of a week-long stay, a guest poured liquid over the room key machine, destroying it and rendering all subsequent guests essentially homeless. One or two poor maintenance workers had to run up and down the elevators with a master key to let every guest into his or her room at all hours of the day and night. Supposedly a new machine had to be purchased and shipped from the States. A wise management team would have had a back-up machine on hand for just such eventualities. At the end of the stay, I thanked God that I didn't have to stay there yet another night under such wretched conditions, and I felt incredibly sorry for the long-suffering lower-level workers.
