This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Customer service sucks. I went to get a drink and a candy bar and he said wow you really have the munchies. And rooms are gross.

The room was clean and comfortable, but the staff literally have no personality, don't listen and treated me like I was an inconvenience, than a guest. I didn't have a Do Not Disturb sign for my room, so I went to the front desk and inquired about one. Unfortunately, she couldn't find one, so she left a note for the day crew. I came back from work to find that housekeeping went into my room. When I went down and addressed it, the front desk clerk acted like she couldn't understand why I was so upset. Didn't even apologize right off the top either. She proceeds to tell me that the note was in my account and that the housekeepers don't have COVID. That's not the point at all. Clearly they have extremely poor communication in this establishment because housekeeping wasn't even made aware. Being my company was paying for my room, I had to finish out my reservation, but believe me, I switched hotels as soon as it was up.

    This hotel has bed bugs!

Horrible horrible horrible experience, Rasheed is the General Manager but he doesn't seem to care to make sure his guests are satisfied. I saw a BEDBUG in my room they moved my room but the 2nd room was still uncomfortable, stains all throughout the room. Very unpleasant stay I'll never be back here again

It was all arranged nicely and the view from the room was fantastic! The entire hotel only has 6 rooms so it was extremely nice and quiet. Check-in was easy and staff was nice. Breakfast was either brought to your room or eaten in the lounge. It was ordered the day before and brought to you in the morning, very nice. We were able to gather in the lounge and go at our own pace. We stay here every time we return to the area. The rooms (recently updated) have always been big, very well appointed and pristine. It's incredibly quiet and parking is right there and always available. The best part is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The last time we came, they took great pains to help us get a (very hard) reservation at the student-run restaurant in the same building. They are also very knowledgeable about the area. The really good breakfasts are served at whatever time you want, either directly to your room or in the very nice lounge right next to the rooms. Why stay at a much more expensive and impersonal hotel when you can have a relaxed and quiet visit and save a bunch of money at the same time?

Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. It was nice to have a two room suite (all their rooms are this way) so the kids could be in their own space without needing their own room. Our bed was very comfortable and the shower was devine. If you're planning for anyone to sleep on the sofa bed then just know it's not very comfortable due to the thin mattress, however sofa beds are notoriously uncomfortable anyway. The free breakfast was a big hit with us too since they had a made to order omelet station in addition to continental options and other hot breakfast choices. Another tip, be sure to take advantage of the evening reception to enjoy 2 free adult beverages (more than just beer or wine) and snacks (cheese, crackers, veggies and chips with salsa). All and all we were pleased and want to stay at an Embassy Suites again in the future.

We got to the hotel at approx 8pm from a long drive and were eager for the jacuzzi. As soon as we checked in, all the common areas are packed and I mean packed with people! There seems to be a family reunion going on. We checked out the pool...it was PACKED with kids jumping in and out of the pool! even the jacuzzi was filled with kids and a handful of adults. So we skipped! We just decided to chill in our room. We asked for extra pillows for the sofa bed. They were out! Not a single extra pillow!!! Not only was that frustrating, there were kids running around the hallway yelling at 2-4am (kids running both days Saturday and Sunday at these times) and the room next to us must've had so many people in the room slamming doors and arguing at 2-4am as well!!! We couldn't understand where are the adults of these children just running in the hallway between 2-4 am! I swear never again to come here! The guests just blew our minds. Etiquette do not exist. Front desk/concierge were no help either.

This hotel is also just 20 minutes outside of Chicago. They offer free breakfast with your stay, you get a cute welcome gift when you check in; including chocolate chip cookies. The breakfast changes slightly day to day, but it includes meal options for just about every palette. The rooms are pretty spacious and they are kept in a clean condition. Here are the negative points about this hotel. First, none of the rooms have a microwave. Everyone, is expected to share the microwave that is in the cafeteria area. Not only is it an inconvenience iff you have to warm up food, but not everyone will clean up after themselves. Far too often the microwave was filthy. Second, the customer service was not always friendly or professional. One hotel worker in particular was often extremely rude with customers over the phone and in person. Comments like; " I don't care if you're checking out early", or "I'm sorry but we will not be cleaning your room" should not be a part of anyone shop is supposed to be in the customer service/ hospitality industry. Lastly, the rolling blackouts. On several occasions during our stay the hotel lost power temporarily. This may have been attributed to the heavy thunderstorms we experienced in Illinois, but too often the lights would go out and then come back on a few minutes later. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, but it could have been better. The beds are comfortable enough for a good nights sleep and the hotel is affordable compared to other hotels in the area. We give it a 3 out 5 stars .

Unfortunately, my arrival at the hotel was a bit rocky due to a delay of more than four hours in my flight, and I did not arrive at the hotel until approximately 1:30 am. Fortunately, I was able to quickly complete the checkin process, and my room was available upon arrival, which was a huge win after what had been a very long travel day! The remainder of my stay was fantastic. The hotel was extremely quiet during the entire week of my stay, and that helped get a lot of rest after the long days I experienced at the workshop. My room had a fantastic layout, with a separate sitting area that contained furniture, a small refrigerator, and an office desk, perfect for doing some work in the evenings and early mornings! The bedroom had window door style that allowed you to have your own private space, and there was also direct access to the bathroom from the bedroom. Complimentary breakfasts were served at the hotel each morning, which was a big plus for me during a very busy week! There were many different items to choose from, including scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins, bread which you could toast, bagels, and a waffle machine. I enjoyed having many choices, and it was nice to be able to quickly pick something to take with me as I headed out for the day. The breakfast area was large, and there was always plenty of space to sit and eat. One of the most enjoyable things about the week was on Wednesday when the hotel held a complimentary happy hour for its guests. They provided a wide range of foods to enjoy, including salads, soups, and desserts such as brownies! This was wonderful for the hotel to host and it gave me a wonderful opportunity to grab a quick bite to eat for dinner on Wednesday! One of the other highlights of the stay that I thought was particularly beneficial was the shuttle service. The hotel offered transportation to and from the workshop location each day, which made getting around very easy and worry free! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downers Grove Chicago. The quiet rooms, the comfortable design of the room, the excellent quality of the breakfast, and all of the thoughtful extras, such as the happy hour and the shuttle service, made the entire experience truly amazing! I will be returning to the same hotel anytime I have business in the Chicago or Lombard areas again!

First of all, there was hair in the bathroom. On the shower ceiling, on the backsplash in the sink area, & even grosser was the pubic hair at the rim of tub! The baseboards were dusty and the sides of shelving underneath the tub had dust as well. The tub itself had peeling paint and spots of mold on the shower walls. A ceiling tile looked like there was some water damage on it and it wasn't replaced. The bathroom sink was slow to drain. In the living room, there was a red stain on the carpet in front of the sofa. The lamp shade had some sort of water damage on it (not sure how that happened). WiFi is slow and the remote control works best if you're right in front of the TV. Per the sign in the room, housekeeping comes every other day. We checked in on a Thursday and they didn't come until Saturday I used the gym several times and one of the ellipticals wasn't working (no sign). The weight chairs had cracks in the leather. One of the weight pins was missing, so a large screw was in its place. There's no place to hang the one mat that you can use for stretching, so it's just tossed somewhere on the floor. The machines are dusty and the disinfectant wipes in the weight machine area was dry so I had to go to the cardio room to get some wipes. The only highlight is that the lobby smelled nice and there was spa water, coffee and tea near the receptionist desk. Breakfast was the typical type of breakfast you would see, nothing to talk about. I wouldn't stay here again. Lots of police activity at this hotel as well, they visited twice during my three night trip!

The property makes me dizzy from the inside and it's hard to find your room if you come in via an outer door other than the front entrance. Seriously, there is a hotel with the same format in Denver that I stayed in 2 months ago and had the same issue. Also, with this format it means that parking is around the perimeter of the buildings. If you don't get a spot close to your rooms closest door/elevator on the main floor then it is a bit tricky to find your room. Maybe it's just me? I don't know - but I will avoid staying at known courtyards with courtyards for this reason.

I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.
