We've stayed at this hotel several times in the past without any issues, which made this most recent 17-day stay especially disappointing. During our visit, we experienced repeated service failures that were never fully resolved. On two separate occasions, full room service was not completed. Both times, I went to the front desk in the morning, clearly explained what was needed, and was assured it would be handled--but it wasn't. There seems to be a consistent lack of follow-through, particularly with the morning front desk staff. The attendant also appeared disengaged and was frequently on her phone, which gave the impression that guest concerns were not a priority. We also had ongoing issues with a clogged shower. The first time maintenance came, they left behind dirty shoe prints and sludge in the shower, which was unacceptable. The second time, we specifically requested that maintenance come first, followed by housekeeping to properly clean the area, and the front desk confirmed this plan. However, when we returned, the shower was still not clean. It appeared someone attempted to rinse away the footprints using shower gel, but the marks remained--and we were left without any shower gel afterward. In addition, our towels were not properly refreshed. We left multiple used towels expecting replacements, but only two were provided. To their credit, the first time this occurred, a manager personally came up and thoroughly cleaned the room, which we truly appreciated--especially as I had just undergone a procedure and needed a clean environment. Unfortunately, the second time there was no follow-up or resolution. Additionally, when we were able to leave a day early, I informed the front desk in advance, but the change was never updated in the system. This added to the overall frustration and highlighted a lack of coordination. As a final concern, during our checkout sweep, we discovered a bag of cheesy jalapeño curls behind the couch--clearly left by a previous guest--which raises serious questions about the thoroughness of housekeeping. This is particularly disappointing because we genuinely like the hotel's location and modern feel. However, there appears to be a significant disconnect between housekeeping and front desk staff, as well as issues with communication and accountability. We made very few requests during our extended stay and kept the room clean ourselves, so these were not unreasonable expectations. While we appreciate the manager offering a complimentary night for a future stay, this experience makes us question whether we would choose to stay here again. We do hope a future visit reflects the level of service we've received in the past. read more

This hotel never lets me down. I arrived early for check in and Diana was was at the front desk and was more than accommodating and got me into a room right away. Everything is always clean, neat, and the staff is top notch. We enjoyed the breakfast, the clean pool, our spacious air conditioned room, and the gym. On Sunday I needed to extend my stay and Wilma at the front desk was more than happy to help me and took care of it immediately. She is a gem. As always Ray takes care or mine and my families daily needs and does a great job. I thank the managers and the staff for providing us a safe , comfortable and clean place to stay . This Hampton was fairly standard for the brand as far as the facility was concerned. The location was very convenient right on the main thoroughfare (North Ave.). Our room was reasonably spacious and clean. The lobby area was well kept. Our check-in experience was quite efficient and we generally found our interactions with the personnel to be pleasant and accommodating. The price was relatively decent for our last stay at $111 USD before tax. The one major flaw for this facility was the fact that the breakfast area was far too small for the size of the hotel. This became apparent on this stay. We had been here once before and it was not a problem on our last trip. This time my wife stayed in the breakfast area and finished her meal at the one seat we could find, while I went back upstairs to our room with my food. As a Hilton Diamond member, I occasionally run into this issue at Hamptons. Some are better than others in this regard. But when it does happen, it's always a bit irritating since the free breakfast is usually decent and part of the attraction for a Hampton. I'm not sure what it would take for them to make more room. However, I suspect this is not the first time this has been pointed out, so I'm sure they've thought about it. read more

Let me start off with if I could give negative stars I would. But not because the room was unclean, or the water wasn't working, it wasn't cause the elevator was broken and I had to take the stairs. So naturally I've seen it all within the brand of Hilton.....Till I stayed at carol stream, IL. So anyways here I am, working late in the morning of checkout. I call the hotel and speak to the front desk women. She was so nice. Explained that work was kicking my ass and I needed some extra time for check out. She told me no worries! Hiltons in my side I had till 3pm to get out of the room! Sure enough!! Sound great right?! Yea till I return at 2:30 to get into my room. My key did not work along with my digital key. I go to the front desk and see what's going on. This is where I met Medusa the AGM of the Carol stream location. This "C" "U" "Next""Tuesday" was pissed we still had our stuff in the room. I explained that we requested more time and it was granted. She wasn't understanding to that what's so ever. She wanted to tell me no and how all these extra fees would take place. So after arguing just to be able to have access to my items and room. She decides it'd be a great idea after I've already checked out and ran my card. To go back and tack on an extra $25 to my card. After I've left and all without my permission... I'm beyond irate. You women are a coward. An annoyance and a deterrent to anyone whom should desire to spend money at the Carol stream location. You a petty bitter bhitch. I hope you never have another cold beer a day in your life. I hope someone breaks in and steals all your spoons. Shower pressure was mediocre. Beds were comfortable, and room was clean. Breakfast was excellent the first day we were there (Southern Style Omelets, etc.) the second day was OK (still had Omelets, but weren't as good). PET FRIENDLY! Which was a huge plus. read more

Looks are deceiving. When you walk in the lobby, it's very nice looking, however half the stuff in the hotel doesn't work and you don't find that out until after you've checked in because they don't tell you anything and their website is over two years outdated (for example the hot tub has been broken for over two years). Ice machines not working. Outdated rooms. I had booked specifically because of the hot tub because of certain muscle injuries. I was looking forward to some therapy in the hot tub. After I checked in, I walked over to the hot tub area and there were signs on the door and all around the hot tub saying it was closed and I thought about it for about an hour and I actually said I wanted to cancel my reservation and we left---so it ruined my vacation. My one chance to relax. Thankful they are least cancelled for me, but they had to go up and "inspect my room", like I had torn it apart in an hour?!?! When actually I put my stuff in the room and left the hotel because I just had the weirdest vibe there and instead of looking on here you might want to check the Google reviews---had I done that first I never even would've booked at this hotel I'm sure it was nice in maybe 1980. To start off I would like say that this experience was almost shameful Hilton should re-evaluate the actual locations that they attach their name to!!!! Check in was was somewhat stressful but that wasn't entirely Hamptons fault, the reservation was booked through a third party site so information was lost in translation but our front desk agent (young man) seemed annoyed with his job (until a frequent guest came and then he jumped into action) A real Nephew TOM!!! His dismissive attitude is not becoming of a Hampton employee!!! Now the lobby is nice and clean to the eye but cold coffee and no cookies was a disappointment but that's not where my room was i stayed in room 603-604 where all the problems started!!! Initial exam of the room looked as if it was clean but the peeling/stained bathroom ceiling looked as if it would fall in at anytime but still not the real problem! After doing a bit of cleaning behind (Isabel) we decided to go to the Pool.... what a joke The indoor pool is tiny and it was ICE COLD but a plus for the hot tub that was actually warm again not a big problem....The real problem came when it was time to get in the bed and then the problem started!!!!! BUGS REALLY BIG BUGS crawling on the wall and bed (see pictures) after killing the Bugs and discreetly taking the pillow that it was on and the bug I was greeted by the best thing the hotel had going on The night desk auditor (Jet) who went above and beyond he suggested immediately that we change rooms and he also let me know that the 6th floor is the pet floor (travelers beware) He offered new linen for the beds since I was traveling with kids he tried his best to remedy the issue and it was appreciated BUT THE HOTEL DID NOTHING ELSE NOT AN APOLOGY NOT EVEN A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of a issue in their establishment which seemed sketchy since the service was not up to even the lowest expectation so I decided to go back to the hotel to follow up and again I get Nephew Tom who in my opinion is not the right kid for the job i was told they couldn't give me a receipt for my stay since it was booked through third party and dismissed the fact that he works at an establishment that has bugs and poor customer support, It's been 2 day since my stay and still nothing from Hampton I'm disappointed and will be Informing Hilton about the representation of their brand! read more

I wish I read these reviews before I booked:( I booked a 1 room king size bed, when i checked in they said they didn't have any, said all they had left was 2 double beds. I said no thanks, please cancel my reservation and just like that they had my room ready. The floors are being repaired we had to walk on 2 x 4s, the place smells bad, they run out of scrambled eggs every morning. I went up and down 4 times to get my room key reset ( I was so mad) till the night clerk had to come up stairs to let us in our room. Ice machines doesn't work, several guest lined up with guest complaints and no manager anywhere. I was told a manager would call me and never did. O and the doors are falling apart on every room, being held together by screws. I have never felt the need to check reviews on a Hilton property, but moving forward I will. Corp. Hilton go check this place out ASAP, If your only as good as your weakest link your in trouble! read more

This hotel is tired and understaffed. We stayed here in June of this year and we were very disappointed! They got our reservations mixed up and even after seemingly resolving this issue, they called me to ask why our things were still in the room. The lobby outside the elevators was dirty and was never vacuumed during our multiple night stay. I asked for a replacement desk chair to exchange for the broken one in our room. Three requests and three days later we got it. We started out our experience with our phone call to the hotel as we were driving from the airport. I had been promised that , if available, we'd get an early check in but when were calling before arrival we were informed of a $50 early check in fee. I've been a Hilton Honors member for many years and no hotel has ever required this fee! Not a great start to an underwhelming experience with this Hilton property! We'll not be back. read more

First, I will start off by saying that the front desk was very kind and professional when we checked in. We had booked a room for two adults and one child, and they were very accommodating with the roll away bed. However, our room only had two towels and two washcloths when we checked in (despite booking the room for three people), so we followed up with the front desk to get a third set. The next day when our room was cleaned, it happened again so we followed up again to obtain an additional set for our family. Each time we called, they were prompt to answer. The cookies in the lobby were also a thoughtful touch. The next morning, we arrived to the continental breakfast around 0900.. big mistake! A guest had just broken the waffle batter dispenser so the staff was running around trying to get that cleaned up. They were out of most of their food (it was a busy Sunday morning) and they only had way overcooked omelettes left and a couple pieces of French toast that were tough and inedible. We decided to Uber out to a nearby restaurant for breakfast instead. So if you are there on a busy weekend... make sure you get to breakfast early! The next day, we went early and there were a lot more options... waffles, breads, fruit, omelettes, sausage, etc. The quality is pretty standard. I would have given this Hampton Inn a much better score if it had not been for the lack of cleanliness of the room. My husband works in the hotel industry and likely has higher expectations already because of his job. However, for anyone staying in this room, it was apparent that the housekeepers have no attention to detail. First, we counted over 10 spider webs in our room. Almost all of them were between the ceiling and the wall and there was one web above the door that was over a foot long. We found another bug and a water bottle underneath the bed that was not ours. The shower pan was cracked. The vent was covered in so much dust that it looked like it had been a very long time since anyone even attempted to clean it. There was discoloration and a poor patch job on the ceiling from old water stains. If you looked up while the bathroom light was on, you can see a cluster of dead bugs inside the light. The list goes on. The most disappointing part was that we did notify the front desk upon check out and asked to speak to a manager. She took down our cell phone number and apologized for the dirty room. While waiting for our ride, we noticed that there was an employee event happening with food in their conference room. We heard the front desk tell one of her coworkers (maybe a manager?) about what we experienced and the lady she was talking to brushed it off and then changed the subject to what food they were having in the conference room. It's been over a week and we haven't received any phone calls or attempts to at least discuss the state of our room. We definitely won't be staying here again. read more

We were happy with the hotel and the cleanliness, until they charged us $150.00 for, what they call a deep cleaning fee. We were in one room and my cousin, her husband and aunt in another room. They told my cousin, that we and our 2 dogs trashed our room. Lie!! They also gave my cousin the last 4 digits of my card number, not my cousins, but mine. They can not share that information with anyone, other than me. My friend called and spoke to the manager and asked for pictures of the so called mess or damage, which they said they don't have. They also charged my cousin $150.00, for urine in a bed. Not true. I recommend if you stay at the Hampton Inn-Carol Stream, take pictures when entering your room and when checking out of your room. read more

At breakfast the orange juice machine wasn't working, the toaster was broken and they were waiting for a replacement . The staff was friendly and sincerely apologetic for the infrastructure issues. This hotel is really been run down. I couldn't even get a cup of coffee this morning. The window shade in my room only goes 3/4 of the way so it doesn't cover the window. The room doesn't seem to be very clean and the TV doesn't swivel enough for you to be able to see it while you're in bed. read more

This Is ridiculous! I've been traveling from Tennessee amd ended up booking a room around 2:30 thinking I'm going to get to the hotel Around 7 and check in amd go to sleep. Well I get to the hotel, before I pull up I call to make sure it'll be no problems when checking in, called 7 times no one answered. Waited until I pulled up, went in spoke with the gentleman he was not helpful at all and continued to tell me I would have to wait In the car until it Is check in time which is 3PM. My husband and I had checked into this hotel at the last minute, after having been on the road for 15 hours. We were tired and wanted a clean and halfway decent priced room to stay, to rest up before continuing onto Wisconsin for a family wedding. We got checked in at around 1:30 am. The room was clean and the bed had nice bed linens. Although we had the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on our door, we were rudely awaken at 9:30 am, by some guy who was going to room to room claiming to be checking the internet connection. I am not a pleasant person when woken up and told the guy he had woke us up. Because he wasn't with the hotel, he said he had the right to knock on the door. BIG MISTAKE!! At least the hotel staff were kind enough to give us the room for free for our inconvenience. read more

NOTE: it's under heavy renovation right now. Hopefully it emerges as a 4- or 5-star location. This is a pretty basic Hampton. Service was mediocre during my recent stay with my family. I reserved a roll-away bed, and called the morning of my check-in to be sure they had it ready, and they said "yes." We arrived late to find no roll away. They did eventually find one, but it took the young desk manager about 20 minutes as she walked floor-to-floor looking for one. It was just by luck that she found one, not due to it having been reserved. (Lack of a bed would have soured this review significantly.) I won't take away points for their breakfast service, which was a temporary set up in a conference room (due to the renovation work). The food was typical Hampton stuff, which is okay, not great. I might stay here again, post renovation, depending on what happens to the pricing. read more

My wife had to come to Carol Stream to train people. This place was recommended by her work. It's an inexpensive hotel that's been newly renovated. Beds are comfortable, everything clean and they offered complementary toothbrushes,toothpaste, shaving cream in case you forgot. There is also a small "store" where you can purchase other things that you might have left at home. Breakfast in the morning is included and the staff bakes cookies free ... all the time. Seriously, I had some at midnight. Small pool and a pathetic looking workout room are some of the other amenities. Nice place to stay. Staff is helpful. Clean. Breakfast bar was decent for the price. The only complaint I have is that it is located right on a major highway with only one way to get in and out. You need a car, because you'd have to walk on the highway to get anywhere. God forbid that you have to visit Carol Stream, Illinois, this is a great place to stay. Carol Stream is basically an industrial wasteland sprinkled with residential areas. read more

My fiancé and I like to stay here every now and then just to get away for the night. We love this place because we can bring out dog for no charge!! Every other hotel wants at least $50 for the night. We always enjoy our stay. The front desk clerks are always very nice and friendly, and once in a while we ask for an extra 30 minutes after check-out and they are always very accommodating. They offer a pretty decent free breakfast in the morning with everything from eggs to waffles to cereal and bagels. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, so I can't comment on that, but it seems that a lot of others were enjoying the pool area. If you are looking for a great place to stay while in town, I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you have a dog. read more

After 2:30 a.m. when my sister and I had to leave our motel due to a gas leak, the Hampton Inn welcomed us and gave us a handicapped room without any problem. They were wonderful in our time of crisis. We liked it so much, we cancelled the reservations we had in Woodstock and Carol Stream. The staff is friendly and helpful. My sister is 80 and I am 79 and we both were more than pleased with the service and will certainly stay there on our next trip from CA. The beds are very comfortable and the room was extremely clean. Once more we had a nice stay. The staff is top shelf and each time we have booked a room here, the customer service level has been consistently excellent. The housekeeping personnel were friendly and even re-arranged our toiletries so they were not cluttered on the sink (nice touch). The only issue was the air conditioner unit was not working when we check-in, but they quickly repaired it once we informed the front-desk. This was our 3rd stay here and it will continue to be our hotel when we visit Carol Stream. This Hampton Inn is always clean; the swimming is heated but the morning breakfast buffet needs to be updated, it's been exactly the same on each visit. read more
