We had to come back to my hometown for my aunt's funeral. My parent's booked two rooms for Friday night. They weren't adjoining rooms, but were located next to each other on the second floor. The hotel has 3 floors in total. I've stayed at this hotel before, about 5 years ago, I had no issues then. My parents checked in before I arrived, so I don't have any experience with that. The room consisted of a king sized bed, a queen sized sleeper sofa, desk, microwave, tv, refrigerator, single sink bathroom and shower. The king bed was comfortable, it came with 2 soft pillows and 2 firm pillows. I liked how they had a bunch off different outlets that were easy to plug things into. Also, they had USB outputs for your mobile devices. The fridge is rather large for a hotel. It comes with two complimentary bottles of water. They also have a coffee maker with different coffee available, and a bag of popcorn to use in the microwave. They also have free wireless internet, which is pretty fast for hotel internet, 10.52 Mbps download and 7.69 Mbps upload. I think it was free, it might've been because my mom is apart of the Comfort Suites reward program. The bathroom features a toilet with a rather hard flush. When I first flushed it, it startled me. The mirror is placed a little low on the wall. I am 6.2 and had to duck down to see from my mouth and above. The shower was kind of hard to get from the tub return to the shower. I pulled up on the switch a few times, I pulled as hard as I could and it still had some water coming out of the bottom. I spent about an hour ironing a shirt and pants. The iron in the room was pretty sad. It wouldn't heat up that much at all. My mom actually had to borrow the iron in my room because theirs wasn't heating up at all. If I was staying here again, I'd probably bring my own iron. I did like that the heating and air had a setting on the system where you could have the fan run constantly. That is nice because I usually sleep with a fan and find it hard to sleep without the sound of a fan. I was able to try the free breakfast they have in the morning. When we were staying there, I don't think many other people were staying there from the looks of the parking lot and that we looked to be the first people eating from the breakfast at 8:15am. They've got cereal, milk, different types of pasties, bagels, muffins, fruit, eggs, sausage, and even a machine to make your own waffles. I had some of the eggs, okay, I liked the link sausage. They had a cheese danish was I liked. They had 2% milk, along with skim milk. Orange juice, different fruit juice and coffee. After taxes and fees, it ended up being $105 for a room. I think that is a little pricey for a hotel that is about ten years old. The room wasn't too dated, but it didn't look like a $105 a night room. I would say $65-$90 would be a better price. The carpet in the hallways was stained and I think that some of the items in the room could use an update. The checkout staff were very friendly though.

Breakfast was ok but those were definitely some of the worst eggs I've ever tried. Overall I recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay here again but I suggest you pass on those eggs.

Exceptionally Well Run and Modern Marriot Property…read more The TownePlace Suites in Owensboro is one of my top choices of places to stay when I'm in the Owensboro area. I have found over the years that the hotels close to the river are always way overpriced at certain times of the year so if you are willing to stay a little off the beaten path then give this hotel a shot. The hotel is located right off the highway and no more than ten to fifteen minutes from most of the major attractions in Owensboro. This hotel has all the amenities you need for a one or multiple-night stay. The staff are professional and this hotel is very well run by management and staff. My room was clean, and spacious and had everything I needed for two nights. The hotel has an excellent fitness center, indoor lounge areas, outdoor lounge areas and a very busy pool, Breakfast includes a variety of hot and cold choices, pastries, bread and cereals, fresh fruit and above-average coffee. The rooms have full fridges and useable kitchenettes, and depending on the size of the room you may have a bigger kitchen area. The room has many electrical outlets and USB charging stations for all of your devices. If you have USB-C then bring your charging blocks. The AC and heating units in your room work very well and are not that noisy. Wifi is easy to connect to and if you are a Bonvoy member you get the upgraded wifi at no additional charge, Lastly, this hotel has digital keys so you can skip the line up when you check in and they automatically send you your bill when you check out. Overall an affordable, well-run Marriot property and my number one place to stay when I'm in the area.

I used the Bonvoy Mobile App to make my reservations and keep track of them. I made my last reservation in the app, as I have done for years. I selected my dates and type of room. It comes up with a rate that says taxes & fees included. I booked my reservation with my credit card. After my stay, I was charged extra for taxes and fees. The local office nor corporate would honor my rate. They denied being able to see my rate and left the burden on me to prove the unprovable. It was simple to see looking at future dates I could book the same rate with all taxes & fees included. I walked the hotel manager through the app site and she reluctantly saw what I was saying, but still blamed me for not looking at an email they sent me which changed what I had agreed to on line. It was the classic bait & switch and no one cared. Note that I had recommended that 9 other people attending the same event stay there and most paid about $150.-200. Less. Most were not Bonvoy members. It's interesting to see the trend of customer service. My last two trips I had ants in my room very late when I returned. Another time I had a door that would not close when I left unless I held the bolt in from the inside. The next time I asked for room cleaning only once over 4 nights and it was not cleaned. I always mentioned it but I never demanded a new room or anything. The last problem is they overcharged the holding fee. The last day, there were few cars in the lot. I asked if I could check out 30 minutes late due to a meeting and they refused, saying my membership level did not qualify for a late check out. I'm guessing this is poorly managed as a franchise, but I honestly will take my friends and try to stay elsewhere.
