As a Bonvoy member for years, I stay at this Courtyard in Owensboro, KY, when there. It's a good location for me. I used the Bonvoy Mobile App to make my reservations and keep track of them. I made my last reservation in the app, as I have done for years. I selected my dates and type of room. It comes up with a rate that says taxes & fees included. I booked my reservation with my credit card. After my stay, I was charged extra for taxes and fees. The local office nor corporate would honor my rate. They denied being able to see my rate and left the burden on me to prove the unprovable. It was simple to see looking at future dates I could book the same rate with all taxes & fees included. I walked the hotel manager through the app site and she reluctantly saw what I was saying, but still blamed me for not looking at an email they sent me which changed what I had agreed to on line. It was the classic bait & switch and no one cared. Note that I had recommended that 9 other people attending the same event stay there and most paid about $150.-200. Less. Most were not Bonvoy members. It's interesting to see the trend of customer service. My last two trips I had ants in my room very late when I returned. Another time I had a door that would not close when I left unless I held the bolt in from the inside. The next time I asked for room cleaning only once over 4 nights and it was not cleaned. I always mentioned it but I never demanded a new room or anything. The last problem is they overcharged the holding fee. The last day, there were few cars in the lot. I asked if I could check out 30 minutes late due to a meeting and they refused, saying my membership level did not qualify for a late check out. I'm guessing this is poorly managed as a franchise, but I honestly will take my friends and try to stay elsewhere. read more

I stay here a lot, but I found mold in the shower of room 102. This does bother me enough to ask for a new room, it's just very unexpected at this hotel. I'll let the staff know on my way out, let me know if it's gone if you get room 102. read more

Lobby: I just checked in and the lobby is very spacious with tons of seating everywhere. The business center is kind of hidden in a separate lounge area with a t.v. and even more seating. Room: The room looks so refined with curving counters upon entrance. It almost feels like a first class experience on an airline like Emirates (maybe the model of aircraft an Airbus A380 or the good 'ol 747). *Note: I have never actually been on an A380 or an Emirates. I have just seen pictures. It is just very pleasing to the eye to see angles and the curves. ;) The bed is facing at a perpendicular angle to the t.v., but the couch is facing towards it. It was kind of funny seeing the t.v. on upon entrance and hearing voices on it talk in a meditation vibe manner. Definitely soothing! Food: The 20 oz of Crush bottled beverage I bought at the bistro here is around $2. I found that this is priced pretty well, considering vending machines price these items anywhere from $1.50 to $2. Supermarkets (Kroger, Meijer, etc.) , one would be lucky to get it under $2. I decided to get the chili lime wings with the goddess dressing for dinner. It came out to like another $17 and something with tax. One gets 12 wings carrots and celery. They throw in two containers of the dressing. It was a unique taste, nothing spicy as "chili" would imply. This hotel DOES NOT HAVE FREE BREAKFAST. I just wanted to make that clear because some travel sites filter it based on this. I never actually asked to confirm this, but they have a bistro and so hotels that have them tend to not give out free breakfast. Bathroom: I did find one issue with the bathroom and that is the shower stall. This was in room 134. Since it is a standing shower, the door is not sliding; it is a pull out door. The thing I hate about these kind of doors is if the strip it is sitting on is sticky, one has to pull really hard to open. Not to mention, when one does this the door like bends and if it is plexiglass, I think it probably has some give. I could not see how a glass door would be able to withstand hard pulling on the metal handle. I was struggling to pull it open until I found that the bottom of the door was basically sliding/sticking to the foundation. So if one gets this room, just remember this. I kept it slightly open for the next guest, but I fear to close it all the way when I had taken my shower this morning. read more

Stayed one night. Did not turn on the lamp on the desk the evening we stayed but the next morning we turned it on and the entire desktop was swarming with ants. Turned on additional lights and they were on the bedside table and even a couple on the bed. We are Marriott-bonvoy members and had used 18,000 points to stay in the room. I took a video and showed it to the desk clerk about 7am. She didn't have another room to move us to because we were checking out that morning (we were planning on a late check out at noon so we could enjoy the pool that morning). I asked for credit back to our account due to the early checkout and told her we would have left the night before if we had noticed the ants then (they didn't just appear that morning). They only gave us 6,000 of the points back and said that's all they could do!!! They did offer for someone to go to the room, kill all the ants and spray so we could return to it until checkout¡ read more

Cleaning standards not up to snuff especially during a pandemic. Shame because it's otherwise a nice property. Based on multiple recent stays it seems about a third of the rooms don't have a remote control for the TV so you have to unplug it from the wall to silence it. The filthy bathroom pic was from last week. The dripping door was taken today. read more

The front desk lady was very nice and helpful, but they don't do cleaning service (you have to call and ask if you have a problem). When we got to the room there was BBQ sauce on the curtains, chips under the table, stuff all over the floor, the lotion and toilet paper had clear signs of being used, there were stains (including the nasty white kind) on the sheets, and ROTTING FUNYUNS in the drawer right next to the Book of Mormon . I wouldn't let my worst enemy stay here! read more

Me and my husband stayed overnight for a wedding. Apparently there was a little league tournament. The lobby was very chaotic. Kids were playing catch everywhere. Parents were not taking any responsibility and neither was the management. Our room was okay but only two bath towels provided. The hotels on the riverfront have the views and the cachet, but the Courtyard Marriott Owensboro is the best lodging in town. We stay here one to three times each year. Here's why: The staff. This is the friendliest staff anywhere, bottom to top. Every member of the staff greets you with a smile. They exhibit the helpfulness and courtesy you expect to find in upscale, big-city hotels, but without the formality. It's what Southern hospitality used to be. The courtesy is extended in-person and on the phone. Need foam pillows, more towels, a room facing east, a room away from the elevator and not by the ice machine? No sighing. No eye-rolling. "Yes ma'am, let's see what we can do." Cleanliness. The entire hotel is clean and well-maintained. Clean from the lobby to the pool to the drawers to the bathroom floor to the remote for the TV. And everything is in working order. Convenient. The Courtyard Marriott Owensboro is located at the junction of US 60 (the Bypass) and KY 54 (E. Parrish Ave./Leitchfield Rd.) on the booming east side of Owensboro adjacent to restaurants and shopping. The hotel is one exit away from Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, is a short drive to downtown and the riverfront, and is fifteen minutes (or less) from the shopping district on the south side of town or the airport to the west. Also convenient--true of all Courtyard Marriott properties--is the configuration of each room. Outlets and light fixtures are where you'd expect them to be. Wherever you are in the room, what you need is within reach. Quiet. Any hotel's level of quiet is going to vary night to night depending on the guests in adjacent rooms or with whom you share a hallway, but, generally, you can expect a peaceful stay and a good night's sleep. This area of town rolls up the sidewalks early, so-to-speak. Comfortable: The beds are not too firm and not too soft. You may request foam or feather pillows. The linens are sufficient and clean, as are the towels. Environmental controls are straightforward and up to the task. We request a room with a sofa, sufficient for in room dining, reading, or TV watching. Feels like more than merely a bedroom. Bonus: The coffee maker, ice bucket, and glassware are NOT in the bathroom (eww), but in an alcove by the mini fridge. Thank you, Marriott. Complaint: My only complaint--and perhaps this should be directed at Starbucks--is the coffee. Courtyard Marriott (not only the Owensboro location) serves Starbucks® coffee, but the Courtyard coffee is not up to the standards of a Starbucks location. Though the coffee has never been stale, even when received freshly brewed, it's merely adequate and nondescript. Do not order espresso drinks from The Bistro. I have tried multiple times, multiple years. The staff are not trained (or trained well enough) to make a straightfoward cappuccino. They will make something, but I cannot identify or classify it. Fortunately, a Starbucks storefront recently opened nearby, right across US 60 near Meijer. Or better yet, head downtown to The Creme. read more

This is the best hotel to stay at in town. It's not by the river front with the great views but the friendly and accommodating staff from top to bottom,how well maintained and clean things are in the rooms and throughout the hotel and not to mention how spacious the rooms make up for that. Every staff member greeted me with a smile. They make you feel welcome and treat you with true southern hospitality. It's hard to find that now a days. Whenever I'm the area for business this is where I stay. There's a lot going on when rating a hotel, let me try to break this down as easily as possible; The staff: Very friendly and helpful! They always greet you with a smile and are genuinely friendly people (or great at faking it!). During my last stay I really didn't like my room b/c there was a crying baby next door and on the other side was the soda machine/ice machine room (the ice machine made a loud noise every so often). They were so quick and accommodating about changing my room The hotel (building); The whole place is about a year old now so everything still looks new; the lobby has plenty of seating and a couple of computers to go online if you don't have your own. They carry USA today newspapers to read (which is alright but you would have gotten bonus points if you had NYtimes of WSJ!). The decor is very pleasant and has a little bit of a 'modern' twist. There's even a nifty looking fireplace in the lobby. Workout room - Small but has everything you need - 2 treadmils, 1 elipical, 2 benches, and plenty of dumbells (up to 50 or 60 pounds). 90% of the time I go to work out there's no one else in there. Pool - Small square shaped pool that's a little over 5 feet deep. Would feel crowded if someone else was in there with you but that's usually never the case. The Room; Here is where they lost a star...The room is not designed well in my opinion. when laying in bed, the TV faces you at an uncomfortable angle. As mentioned earlier, not sure why I can hear people in the room next to me. Perhaps they were just loud speakers...? (This is kinda stupid but I did notice it) You can hear the water running in the rooms next to yours. I could hear a toilet being flushed, or if the person was showering...not a big deal but would have preferred not to hear that crap... The bathrooms - they are great! spacious, clean, and simple design. The shower is big enough to fit 4 [not that I know that from personal experience :-) ] The lights are bright and the mirror is nice and big! The food; Eh, slightly above average. I've only had breakfast there so can only comment on that. The only veggie they offer is spinach and that's just on one sandwich. The only other healthy option is the oatmeal (which I no like). +50 pts for service starbucks!!!!! Location; Great! Easy spot to get to since it's right off the expressway. There's a bunch of places to eat within a 5 minute radius of the hotel. What else...? of free wi-fi! And there's a mini shop if you forget any common items. read more

This was a great location. We were here for a funeral, so it was not a very happy occasion, but the staff was wonderful. About as accommodating as they possibly could be. We needed a larger room (not a single king bed) as there were myself, my sister, and 2 kids in the room. We called the front desk and she immediately switched us to the largest room they had, (2 queen beds, twin sleeper sofa) and delivered a pack-n-play to our room. They even brought kids soap, a little bath toy and kids lotion specifically for the baby. Super thoughtful. My sister went down to the bar to see if we could get a glass of wine. They were closed, but they offered to open the bar just for her. When she ordered 5 glasses of wine (one for herself, my parents... etc) the server called over another staff member and they followed her back up to the room to bring the glasses. Not only did they go out of their way to open the bar, but they helped her carry the wine back to the room without hesitation. Definitely service that you would see in a Ritz or Four Seasons, not typically in a Courtyard... When we left a pillow at the hotel and called a few hours later, they told us they had them at the front desk and would keep them there for us. We stopped back by to grab it and the front desk lady asked if we had left a baby blanket as well. We hadn't yet realized that we didn't have it but the 3 yo with us would have been DEVASTATED had this been lost. Again, great service!!! Overall, nothing bad to say about this place, absolutely wonderful staff. Good job management team! read more

This hotel Is about 2 years old now. Maybe a bit less. Everything is new and sparkly. Staff is happy to be working with things that work and patrons that are glad to be staying in a new hotel. So everyone wins. No problems during checkin. I had to knock off a day at the end of the trip - no problem. Service was friendly and upbeat. The room was new and everything worked. Had anyone ever been in this room before me? Maybe not. If you have ever stated at an older Marriot hotel, say one that was built in 70's. This one has taken all the lessons learned and incorporated them into this building and design. Food prices at the Starbucks are a bit costly. But that is expected for reimburable business travel. I would just venture down to the brand new Hospital for some of my meals. read more

The hotel seems pretty new. Nice, simple decor and clean. The rooms are pretty big and there is always a decent sized tv. Free hbo and wifi woohoo. I had a tub once and a shower without a tub once, so I guess it varies on bathrooms. I also got a couch this time which i find very useful. There is a gym downstairs as well as a pool and hot tub. I have only used the gym and it does the job - 2 treadmills and weights. The cafe downstairs opens as early as 6:30am, so good for breakfast and coffee. My only complaint is that service will always take ~15 min no matter what you order so not too good if you are in a hurry. All of the staff are extremely nice!!! read more

This is our second stay here. 1st was a good nights sleep and pleasant staff. This time we had a death in family in the Owensboro area. The staff went above and beyond anything we have had happen. They allowed us to have a large group in the longe area and just sit eat and talk for several hours. It was much needed and so great fuel to them. Great new hotel in Owensboro. Very spacious rooms and the service staff is quite friendly. The ammenitites really make this hotel. There is an indoor pool, a hot tub, a workout room with a couple treadmills & some weights, and then also a nice cafe with food & drinks. This hotel is perfect for the business traveler and it's location makes it easy to hop on and off the highway and it is also close to some very good restaurants. read more

We had a large group that all stayed here for a weekend for a youth football tournament. This hotel was perfect. The location was close to the football fields. We were able to reserve the conference room for the weekend for meetings and to enjoy meals together as a group. We also prearranged for breakfast buffets there both mornings. This was very convenient and appreciated by the athletes and their families. Staff at the hotel were all very accommodating and provided excellent customer service with a smile. The rooms and common areas were updated and clean. The bistro bar lounge area was a nice bonus for coffee in the morning or in the evening with a touch of Bailey's in it! Especially to warm up with after a long day of fall football! There was plenty of room for the entire team of 25 boys plus another 15 siblings and about 40-45 parents without ever feeling crowded or needing space away from each other. The best parts were definitely the pool area for the kids and our parent "after hour" meetings! If you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway, please make sure there are no football tournaments going on...if there are go stay in different town! read more

We have been here three days and not one person has said said good morning or good afternoon to us not one word when enter or exit the hotel. We even looked straight at the current person on duty and said good morning and we're just stared at. All other reviews say friendly staff but don't agree with them. read more

I have been staying here recently during business trips. My husband travels with me and they made him feel comfortable all day while I was gone. The restaurant here is very good, the staff accomodates always and is very friendly and the rooms are wonderful. This is a great place to stay. read more
