Was hoping to find a nice coffee house replacement for my favorite ones in the Bay Area. First visit was okay, although service was a bit slow. Latte was good though. Second visit, I ordered a meal along with a latte and the experience was not good. I was horrified by the food handling techniques of the baristas. Touching money then touching food (that is served raw, eg. hummus, cucumbers), touching other things, touching food, NEVER washing their hands. Not good! Management: Please train your staff on proper food handling techniques and prevent foodborne illnesses. read more

I went to Comma Coffee with my Dad who was visiting. We thought we'd venture out and try a new spot. We both absolutely adored the place. The ambiance was really interesting with lots of books and décor to keep ones attention. We were there for breakfast and ordered two standard coffees, French toast and the poached eggs on English muffin topped with cilantro and avocado. The food was very tasty and our coffee pretty standard. The reason they got four instead of five stars was the unfriendly staff. When we walked in, the counter area was packed with people. We waited in line a few minutes, looking at the menu since it was our first time there. After ordering she handed us cups and didn't say anything about where the self-serve coffee was. I ended up getting coffee from the pots that I guess are for the staff to pour customer coffee from. The staff member came over and acted like I was an idiot because I didn't see the other area to the right as you walk in the front door. So, if you heed my advice and be aware of the location of the self-serve coffee, you will be fine. read more

Comma Coffee is where the "hip kids" of Carson flock, and there seems to be a revolving door of "hip chicks" working behind the counter. The owner is a creative woman with a wonderful spirit. She has done very well for herself in this location. I went to Comma every morning I was visiting Carson City last week, each day I ordered the same (iced latte), and each time I received a very different quality drink. my first one was heavenly, the second one was awful, and blended?? also she added sweetener which I can't stand, hence why I ordered a latte and not a mocha foofoo whatever. Although this seems a bit ranty I really do like this place. It's full of character and comfortable seating. The owner has a $5 deal rack of second hand clothing and she often has some really cute items. You can find board games to play or a book to read while you hang out. If you want you can stare at the fish tank or check out some local emerging artists. I give Comma Coffee four stars not because of the service which is inconsistent at best, I give them 4 stars because of the sense of community that flourishes here in this artistic honey hole. A place that inspires and excites the imagination. Oh, they serve beer and wine too so you can relax in the courtyard after work. Don't forget to grab a love note on your way out. Not many choices for coffee in downtown Carson. The coffee/Latte are very average to say the least, no different than casino coffee when you get down to it. This place needs a make over or for the very least a deep cleaning. The fabrics on the chairs/couches need to be cleaned they've begun grow bacteria colonies. At least Starbucks or Dutch Bros are consistent, probably because they don't buy their supplies from Costco, lol. Just not worth eating what they serve, that's if they even have it in stock. All pre prepared foods all they do is assemble, just a bit pricy. Too many other clean places to to go and enjoy good coffee and good food. read more

This place is really only so-so. Its a cool environment and its on a route I regularly travel, so I used to stop in on occasion, but lately I've stopped going and started hitting one of the Starbucks on Carson Street. The coffee here is only meh, its not really all that consistent, and the servers always treat me like they are doing me a favor by making my drink. Why go here when I go to Starbucks, where the coffee is consistently good, and the folks actually seem to want my business? I'm all about supporting local businesses, but I always find that local coffee shacks often disappoint and this is no exception. read more

Such a fun place to order and enjoy your delicious coffee creations! My husband and I bellied up to the bar to play one of their table top games and spent sometime looking and reading many of the things hung and painted around the room. I would think a place like this would cater a bit to vegans. NOT! I wanted to have an early dinner there and called to see what they might have. They have nothing on the menu, apart from salad (yawn), that is vegan. Even their hummus has cheese pesto in it! (What's up with that? Hummus is normally very vegan!). And their broccoli soup has chicken stock. Really? Why is that necessary? When I suggested that they ought to have more vegan options, the employee I spoke with said that the owner just has her "set menu" and she is happy with it, despite requests from staff and customers that she offer more vegan food. I try to go here often as it is convenient for me, but I always end up leaving frustrated or dissatisfied. Every single time I have walked in to order, it takes nearly 5 minutes for anyone working to even acknowledge that a customer is standing there ready to order. I often come on a lunch break and have limited time, and its very stressful when I feel I have to yell at someone to get their attention. I understand there may be a limited number of people working and it gets busy, but a simple, "hi we will be with you in a minute" would be really appreciated. read more

We've come here for a while now and are just so happy with this place. The lattes are incredible and so are the breakfast and lunch sandwiches! This morning we ordered the eggs-Hamilton which is eggs on a warm flaky croissant with Swiss cheese and a citrus orange on the side. It was amazing! Tara, who served us, was so nice and accommodating! The decor is also weird and funky in a good way that gives this coffee shop an impactful personality. Very cute little corner cafe in Carson City. It is located right on the main road across from the legislative buildings, which makes it a great local hot spot. The Cafe is pretty unique with funky decorations, tables and chairs. The menu is limited but has a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. I ordered the spinach salad with chicken. It was a tasty salad with apples, cranberries, walnuts, feta and chicken. My one issue was the size of the slices of red onion - they were giant slices that were not cut up. If you are going to serve onions on a salad, they should be chopped up or should be sliced nice and thin. No one wants to eat a giant ring of onion with one bite of salad. After cutting up the onion, I devoured the salad as I was starving and it was quite tasty. I also ordered a coconut water when I saw that they had them in the case and I wasn't too excited when I realized (after I had opened it) that it was only 70% coconut water and had added sugar.. yuck. Overall, this cafe is cute, the food is good, the service is friendly and the location is quite convenient. read more
