The young lady that worked behind the counter was very nice and cordial. Strange little place there was a table and some chairs inside, but there was a sign on it. That said you couldn't sit there and there was nowhere else to sit inside so you just had to get your coffee and go. Honestly not to be negative was not very impressed with the copies we ordered. We were heading to Virginia City but passed the road that was supposed to turn and came stumbling to Larry's Gourmet Coffee House while getting Gas next to it. After we finish gas up the vehicle and head over next door to a very unique small house looking coffee shop. If it wasn't for the sign on top you would really think it is a small house with cue front porch. We went inside and ordered 3 different drinks. I don't remember all the drinks that we ordered since we were not able to take the menu sign picture. Anyway place is quite unique and barista were very friendly and before finish up the drink will let us try it to make sure sweetness is what we desired. Overall, all drinks are tasty and made perfectly. It is a place you want to stop by after a long drive. After we got the drink and headed on the road to Virginia City and found out we parked right outside another Larry's Gourmet Coffee. Located across the street from the church that's next to Virginia City BBQ and beef jerky sits this unique coffee spot, Larry's Gourmet Coffee. Finding this spot was a total accident. It was snowing and mom asked me for coffee. I'm not familiar with the coffee places in Virginia city, I usually stick my 2 B's; BBQ and beer. I do love me a nice cup of coffee though so I'm glad I found this place. You do have to walk to the back of the building to find it but they have a sign right on the front to let you know to walk back. This place serves local roasted coffee and makes their special brews. I just got a regular cup of coffee for mom but I had one of their special drinks; hot buttered rum. I had only heard of this drink but had never tried it. It was pretty bomb! I have to go back for some more, plus I want to try their espresso with some of those big biscotti cookies in those huge glass jars that sit on the bar. I only wish they had a sitting area to enjoy that view of the snowy mountains through those big windows in the back while sipping on my espresso. That would make it perfect! The barista is super friendly and offers suggestions if you can't make up your mind. I'll be back. Hopefully next time they have a sitting area. read more

What an incredible find! Met the REAL LARRY - and had a fantastic cup of coffee. Had us taste the coffee before purchase - Tons of options...I'm not normally a flavored coffee fan but his pumpkin spice tasted like a homemade pumpkin pie in a cup! Just loved this place, the service (even opened the door for us!), the Nevada history, and the ambiance. This is without a doubt one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. The customer service from Larry and everyone he employs is top notch. Always friendly, always cheerful, never any judgement or attitude (like a certain chain down the street..), and just one of the best places I've found to spend my money on my much needed iced coffee addiction. To top it all off, Larry always has my iced coffee order prepping for me as soon as I walk in. It's little customer service touches like this that are getting rarer and rarer in this day and age. What a hidden gem! Larry's Gourmet Coffee House is nestled in the trees off to the side of the Sinclair gas station at Quilici Rd. AKA Dayton Valley Rd. When you see the green dinosaur, get ready to make a right turn and pull into Larry's for an amazing cup of java. They do coffee the "old fashioned way". Really! The selection of hand- crafted coffees made like Mark Twain drank it is wonderful. There are so many brews and wonderful pairings, that I am working through the menu one at a time! Absolutely worth a stop in Dayton, NV. P.S. You can also stop by their location in Virginia City if that is your final destination. Every time we stop in we ALWAYS get awesome, personalized service. Their coffees are absolutely the best. My favorite is the Dayton Dust Devil-oh Lord, YUM! They do a card stamp system, you buy so many, you get a free drink kind of thing, which is really nice as we are semi-regular customers whenever we can stop in. Seeing Larry dressed up in the top hat and vest outfit with the mustache is a glimpse back in time to the Old West. If you haven't stopped in yet, you really should. Overpriced coffee. But! Larry is nice and remembers your order if you're a regular. The taste of the coffee is great and their homemade biscotti are spot on! There no room to come in and sit to chat with friends so that's the biggest downside. They opened one in VC, so it might be better for such things. Worth checking out. read more

I have gone in a few times now, and the coffee is ok at best. It is pre made in a large container and then reheated using steam. Not the best way to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. The reason for the 1 star, is that Larry is not a nice person. He bad mouths anything that does not align with his views and also bad mouths all other coffee businesses. That does not look good, a business owner should be a good person and support the community that they serve. I do not recommend going to this coffee shop. This is the best coffee in town! It's an experience! He explains coffee flavors to you. The customer service is over the top, you have any questions and he will explain the history of it to you. The history of the town or anything else you have questions about... you want to know about physics? Pretty sure he would find out for you! All the little touches make it a great experience and the coffee is absolutely the best we have had. My husband doesn't like coffee and tried it and said this might change his mind! The owner got back to me, and I guess my boyfriend had missed the part on the sign where it says donuts until 8:00 a.m., so I was wrong about that and I am acknowledging it. I really do appreciate the customer service and them getting back to me, however he maintains that I still can't order something that is available on their board as I want it, because it might affect his inventory. Not sure how that's the customer's problem, and I feel like people should know that there are definite limitations if they visit this place - that's what review sites are for. Found my new go-to coffee shop!! His coffees are all about quality. No artificial sweeteners. He's got a variety of milk to cater to everyone's dietary needs including plant based. Milk comes straight from the milk plant in Fallon. I got the Original "House" and Honey Oat iced coffee my first time. Larry had me try a sample to make sure the sweetness and milk ratio were to my liking. Both came out perfectly! He throws a chocolate covered espresso bean in each drink and puts two on top of the lids. I think it's a great signature to his drinks. It's almost like a way of branding his hand crafted coffee! Walking around Virginia city for the fourth we stumbled across Larry's and was excited to try a new coffee shop we have never been to before but upon walking in we were immediately yelled at from across the coffee shop that my husband and I need to leave. I have a service dog and was told I had to leave with no explanation so I informed him that he was a trained service dog for my disability. He then said he was allergic and that he would not help me unless I stood outside the coffee shop in the hallway and my husband went in. VC is very dog friendly so I was caught off guard by their approach. I understand having allergies but this is a business set up around a dog friendly little city, where there are dogs everywhere. As well as I'm not always with my husband when I'm out with my service animal for him to help me get a cup of coffee. From my understanding from Nevada/ADA service laws and training that even with no pet signs nor allergies are not a valid reason. Due to discrimination, therefore law states that "Individuals with a service animal may not be segregated from other customers or treated differently" Unfortunately I was told I could not enter the establishment with my service animal from the hallway so I did not get to try their products. With the way they instantly treated us I would not recommend coming to this coffee shop. We ended up walking next door to firehouse creamery and they were so warm, welcoming and beyond friendly. Great coffee and delicious ice cream! Even offered our dog a cup of whip cream and a bowl of water! Had an amazing experience! Also, met the owner who is such a wonderful guy! Don't waste your time at Larry's and just go straight to firehouse creamery! read more
