I was experiencing an intermittent problem with my 2008 Ford Escape where the ABS as well as brake…read morelight would come on the dashboard every now and again during startup. When this issue with occur I would then have very substandard and dangerous breaking but I was always able to correct it by shutting the car off waiting one minute and then restarting and the ABS lights would go off and my brakes would be normal until it would happen again usually days are Weeks Later and then I would just repeat the process. In addition to that my abs module under the hood was making a dreadful rumbling noise which was part of the problem. Wanting to resolve this I bought my car to Lou. He explained to me that I need a whole new ABS module which cost about $3,500 not including labor. Feeling that it wasn't worth it I decided to just keep resetting it when possible and if it fails completely one day I'll just look for another car. Fast forward to many months later I bought the vehicle in as Lou replaced my front rotors , calipers, pads and two leaking brake hoses. The bill was over $1,000 and Lou informed me that my brake pedal now is going to the floor and the lights are back on the dashboard and claimed it had nothing to do with his work and blamed it on the previous ABS issue mentioned at the beginning of this review. Thinking I'll just reset it business as usual I paid the bill and to my dismay realized that the ABS module was completely dead and all my methods of resetting it previously had now failed. After paying the bill and now thinking I have to pay a lot more to change this module I went to Smithtown Ford for a second opinion. The technician asked me if I had any brake work done recently and I explained the work that Lou did. They told me his work would have solved the problem and I did not need the ABS module the only problem is Lou did not finish the job. Confused, I asked them to clarify and the technician explained to me that when work is done on breaks the final step is to reprogram the ABS module which is what they did and my brakes have been wonderful going on a month now and the module does not even make that Dreadful rumbling noise anymore that was all that needed to be done as far as the ABS braking system is concerned. In addition to that out of curiosity I went into the parts department to price a new ABS module for that vehicle . The parts person went under the hood and took the part number right off the unit and gave me a dealer price of $1,000 which is approximately 2,500 less than Lou quoted me. Not only did Lou give me a false diagnosis, but I also believe he was price gouging on the part and I suspect that possibly he was going to bring it to Ford to have the work done if I decided to do it and he would be the middleman but that particular detail I can't confirm it's just a suspicion I can't think of any other reason why you would misdiagnose and gouge on the price. Needless to say I'll be looking for a new mechanic as I was terribly disappointed he seemed like a trustworthy guy

It's tough to find a good mechanic and even harder to find one who values service and doesn't blame…read morecustomers when things go awry. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. One thing that makes a huge difference is how an owner resolves issues. Shaiq clearly knows how to attract and retain customers with quality and efficient service and accountability that you can trust. We had an ad hoc oil change when everyone else was booked at the end of the day because it would also take an hour. His mechanic showed us that it was fully synthetic oil and this transparency is something not all mechanics let you observe. The oil change was so fast that it took less than 10 minutes with a courtesy free inspection of what else may be needed, ranging from replacing the rubber blade on the rear windshield wiper to a paint job for some scrapes on the body of the car. Pricing seemed reasonable without much margins that other shops may overcharge. Moreover, the oil change was ~50% off other stores' price when you present their flyer for a new shop that opened in February with this promotion. The next day, the oil pan shield somehow got loose and dragged on the freeway. However, Shaiq accommodated us with two options where a mobile repair would be faster than me dealing with our car insurance to get a tow truck. Nonetheless, we got the car to the shop for a courtesy repair of the oil pan shield after work hours where he removed the dragging part to prevent further damage and had already ordered a replacement that arrived within two days. He even prioritized our repairs to show his dedication without any conflicts or awkwardness that we normally experience with other mechanics. The replacement took less than 20 minutes and looks spanking new. It's rare to find someone who loves his work, takes care in performing well in his craft, and values you as a customer to respond promptly and make things right by working with our disabled family with various impairments. This shop showed the value of customer care and loyalty with a chance of redemption for all parties involved to benefit from a win-win resolution. I'm grateful for RAFL Motors moving to our neighborhood and look forward to our next inspection, tire rotation or change, and repairs based on what I've seen from Shaiq and his team.
