The light rail connection from Federal Way to Sea-Tac Airport and Downtown Seattle is a big win for the South End. It's pretty convenient since it's close to the I-5 ramps. I know it'll be a drop off point for folks heading to the airport, work and school. The best thing about the 1 line is that it takes you right into downtown Seattle and UW without having to transfer to other lines. Plus, if you get on at the Federal Way station you'll get first dibs on prime seats. Hi-Five, right? Just like the named art piece at the station. The track feels like the Canada Line SkyTrain from Richmond to Vancouver, BC. No fare gates so fare evasion happens all the time. No platform screen doors like Sea-Tac Airport's underground trains so pay attention and don't fall on the tracks. As for tourism, some people may opt to stay in hotels in Federal Way rather than downtown Seattle or SeaTac. With this new light rail station, it's only a couple stops away from Sea-Tac Airport and less than an hour to Westlake Station/Downtown Seattle. I'm sure hotel shuttles will be a common sight at this station too. I always saw shuttles at the Angle Lake station whenever I dropped fam and friends off. They have public restrooms at this station. Hopefully during Summer 2026 they'll have enough Honey Buckets for stations that don't have restrooms. With all the games, concerts, and special events at the stadiums plus heatwaves there's going to be a lot of beverage consumption. Federal Way doesn't have free on-demand shuttle service like Bellevue. People will still have to use their car to navigate around the business district. As Federal Way grows, I'm curious how the city will shift from being car-centric to pedestrian-friendly. They don't have to reinvent the wheel. They just have to study the growth blueprint of Lynnwood and Redmond, ask them about their successes and failures, then apply whatever fits the needs of this South End community. I just hope Federal Way finds passionate, experienced urban planners who have the best interest for this area. I'm ok if the city takes their time strategically planning growth as long as they're thoughtful about the PNW environment and the people they serve. Anyway, the Federal Way Link Extension grand opening was a fun celebration. Lots of people showed up. Not everyone was able to get on the first NB train though. They had food trucks, activities, and pop-up tents with freebies and swag bags plus they had ST Merch. It was a successful party. Next up? The 2 Line Crosslake Connection.

This is the only bus stop in Bonney Lake and hosts the only bus line that serves the town. This is…read morebasically an extension of the parking lot at the Sumner Train Station. That station has a major parking issue so this allows commuters from Bonney Lake to have easy non stop access to the Sounder train(and an easy ride to downtown Seattle) and being able to park very close to home and not fight for parking in Sumner. Seems like a safe location and cars of any kind will be fine here. Not the easiest to get out of in the evening but hey, you can't have it all.

And security, imo, is still not up to par on the link light rail system in general. This station is not really handy to anything by foot unless you live in one of the apartment buildings nearby but it is handy by car to many eating and shopping spots, or the dentist or whathaveyou. Of course in the reverse it's handy to everywhere if you set off from here. We use this station sometimes to take trips to downtown Seattle or the u-district.

There's also a fairly large parking garage so you don't have to fight for parking. The down side is that this place is pretty dirty and I regularly feel bad for my shoes. There are definitely some...colourful...characters here, especially at night, but I've never felt like I was in danger so that's always something to enjoy. Overall I'd highly prefer to drive or Uber, but when using transit this station will help you get you where you need to go.

There are quite a bit of unsavory characters at all times. So be careful of your stuff. Nice fountain with sitting area. Local PD does their rounds once in a while to keep the peace. Transit parking is convenient. Tuesday afternoons is the nearby farmers market that is worth checking out.

I was lucky to be at the right one, but I was 2 minutes from walking to the next address when I did not see the bus. 2. We left at 415pm from Crystal. We waited for other passengers. I don't mind waiting, but I thought it was unfair for those who returned to the bus on time. I recommend just changing the departure time to 430pm. Crystal closes at 415pm. Not to mention that we had to sit in traffic for an additional hour in the morning, so that was a total of 75 minutes that I missed on the snow. The bus is still very convenient if you don't have a car and it is only you for the day.

None of the outlets nor USB ports worked, nor did the fan controls overhead. The slight draft through the vent and the broken seal around the windows sufficed. Our bus carried only five passengers, we spaced ourselves apart, and fortunately nobody nuked a big one. Most of the window gaskets squeaked, annoyingly, and one showed a visible gap. I did think, a window could fall out, and thus would not reach Vancouver on schedule. They couldn't even properly adjust the large LED clock, still set on Standard Time and a few minutes late. Litter left and scattered from the previous trip tells me either nobody cleaned the bus in Seattle, where we originated, or they were given so little time or otherwise cleaned it poorly. I wouldn't have known about MTRWestern had Flixbus not contracted them for the codeshare to Vancouver. Nor would i have otherwise chosen them. They ran the worst, dirtiest, and least maintained bus i've ever ridden.
