Oooo it's cute in here! As a 70s baby I have a deep appreciation for vinyls. It set just the right tone for me. The staff is friendly. Offered good tips on which drinks we might prefer based on our tastes. I got the Mexican mocha (hot) and Tokyo Smoke (cold). Both had really distinct tasty flavors. My fav was the Mexican mocha. Overall: 4.1/5 [dine in] Common Good is a unique mixed space that combines a coffee shop, a hair salon, and vinyl spinning all in one. They also do unplugged weekends so there is no wifi available. The seating is limited both inside and outside but the vibes are great for listening to music. It is better suited for a solo outing or a date given the small space. Peach Cobbler Matcha ($8.24): We got it with oat milk and skipped the peach cobbler cold foam since it contained dairy. They make their own peach cobbler syrup which has actual peach bits in it. It was not that sweet and the peach flavor was more subtle than I expected. I think it would have been much better with the cold foam. Without it this matcha was just okay. Tokyo Smoke ($7.21): We got this iced with almond milk. It is a hojicha with maple syrup and the best way I can describe it is if mezcal were a non-alcoholic caffeinated drink, it would be this. I only went here because the vibes looked absolutely rad. I was correct. The vibes here are absolutely rad. At 6:00 on a Saturday it had mellowed out mostly for the evening, but I wanted a little iced coffee, and that is what I ordered. I walked in to The Smiths blasting on their speakers with plenty of Sade LPs hanging on the wall. I ordered their Golden Hour latte iced, which ran me $7, which told me I was paying for Dallas-proper coffee. The lady got after it, and I was in and out of the spot in minutes. They do live vinyl DJ sets here on the weekend, but I must've missed it. They have a deck attached right next to the bar which I think is super rad. Coffee shops are known for good music, so this is a match made in heaven. There was also a salon in the back, so if you want a nice coffee while listening to a live vinyl set and getting a fade, this is the spot to do all 3 in one go. The music on the record player was playing some great tunes, all of the tables were filled with people working, writing or on a date! We got a pastry with onions/bacon that was good but cold, but we were kind of over this place already at this point to ask them to warm it up. And lastly, the coffee was just okay. Look, maybe I'm old school, but I feel like if you walk in to an almost empty coffee shop on a rainy day, the crew behind the counter should at the very least pretend that they want to make a delicious latte for you. I walked in and the 2 people behind the counter gave me this look like I'd just interrupted their TikTok live stream. Like they'd just popped some Xans and I'd asked them to do some algebra.
