We had a professional chef as a party attendant on the boat and he gave high marks. Some with dietary restrictions were impressed with options and accommodations - all that of that was coordinated through Lake Austin Riverboats - everything was perfect. That level of service carried over to most of the staff on the boat, making the experience even more enjoyable. During the event, I was introduced to Paul, who was seated with a group of friends. He was introduced to me as the boat owner and came across as relaxed and not at all pushy--qualities I appreciate when considering a business, especially since part of my motivation for attending was to explore options for my birthday celebration. Unfortunately, Paul's friends left a negative impression. A couple of them outright refused to acknowledge me, turning away when a gentleman attempted to introduce me. Others made inappropriate jokes about my accent in a condescending and offensive manner. One individual even made vulgar comments, implying that Paul should get my phone number to discuss event planning details later, which was completely unprofessional and inappropriate. While the event itself was enjoyable, the boat ride interesting, the behavior of those around the boat owner and the fact that the boat owner never replied to my text message trying to discuss my event, was disappointing and detracted from my overall experience. This experience left me with a negative impression of the boat's management, and I strongly feel that they are not welcoming to immigrants. The group consisted of older white men whose behavior was filled with prejudice and hostility. And for that reason I felt compelled to post a review discouraging people like me- and those against this type of behavior - to stay away and make better choices. We can use our money to invest in a much better experience elsewhere I left the boat traumatized and truly disgusted by those old men behaviors. Do better!

We were there for a friend's wedding in the Grand Ballroom, which had gorgeous wood floors, sixteen-foot windows and vaulted thirty-foot ceilings. A spacious and light-filled ballroom that comfortably seated us all with room leftover for a buffet station, a DJ and dance floor. The women's restrooms even had a separate area for sitting/reapplying makeup - having all that extra space is rare and feels quite luxurious.

While it's popular as a wedding venue, it's also fascinating to see many of the rooms with Victorian furniture and decoration, not to mention the beautiful architectural details. From the back of the building at the privately fenced parking lot the property is quite imposing with massive buttressed limestone walls that stretch upwards many stories giving it the feel of a castle almost. After a ride in a small elevator you can see the level with a large ballroom, dining room, large outdoor patio that's sunken from the street and private but quite nice in good weather. The next level is street level from the front of the house and has beautifully furnished living room with gorgeously carved pocket doors, stained glass entryway, intricately carved wood decorated staircase leading upwards to the bedrooms. Each has antique furnishings, fireplaces with painted tiles, and more room for entertaining on the spacious wraparound balconies that give views of how much Austin has changed. While I'm not clear on how much of the property is open to the public at weddings or other events, it's well worth the chance to see inside if you ever get the opportunity.

The oak trees were stunning and there were so many cute little spots to take photos, and in such a great location. They were very easy to work with and flexible, and we were able to come visit and walk through any time we wanted before the wedding. 2 things to keep in mind: 1. There is no indoor space that is big enough for chairs and tables (unless you have a very small wedding - I think maybe it was under 50?) so you do have to have a rain plan. They only work with 1 tent vendor, Monarch Event Rentals, so you can't shop around on prices. We actually had rain and had a pretty good experience with Monarch, but it was an extra $3k - consider that possibility in your budgeting. 2. Our wedding was about 100 people, and that felt really like the most tables you could possibly cram in that space. They say they can hold up to 150, but to achieve that you'd probably have to put people uncomfortably close together or put tables in weird places. I know they say something like it's best suited for under 100 but can go up to 150, but I would consider your absolute max like 110 at this venue.

I'm…read moreholding a star since we received an email saying we got our deposit back Aug 12th and I still haven't seen the funds in my account- but besides that issue it's definitely got a 5 star rating! We actually got married a month prior in MA, but needed to celebrate the occasion with all our friends who live here with us in TX. This event space was perfect for a party on a budget. The view- I mean, come ON, was just incredible, and the backdrop for everyone's photos! People could not stop talking about how phenomenal it was. The process of getting the place was a bit tricky, as I could not navigate their government website to select the date and missed the cut-off time before having to do the lottery. Luckily, not a lot of people were begging for dates in August as the venue does not have air conditioning- so the heat was a bit brutal (but that's Texas!)- but we got it no problem! I ended up calling and the person I spoke to was very helpful. Speaking of air conditioning- or lack-there-of- we ended up renting some swamp coolers (huge cooling fans that run off of ice- but a LOT of ice!!) to help with the heat. There are ceiling fans and a few industrial fans included- but those don't help too much in August! I had a hard time figuring out what exactly we needed- so I'm going to add a quick "plug" for Preferred Climate Solutions our of Hutto, TX. They worked ZPC before and knew how to set things up. Brett even had an extra swamp cooler from an earlier event he let us use. Moving on- because this place doesn't require use of specific vendors- it made it that much affordable. We hired Slab BBQ to cater and Pixster photo booth for fun. For drinks, we filled out the necessary paperwork (some cheap $10ish permit? I can't quite remember) and we're able to just bring in a few kegs and boxes of wine from PartyBarn. Everything went off without a hitch! Good to note- the place provides a bunch of tables. Two huge round ones, a few smaller round and rectangle ones, and some nice cocktail tables we used on the patio. (The cocktail tables and one rectangular were good enough condition to go without tablecloths- the rest require coverings.) For lighting- it was definitely important to us to get string lights on the patio. I realized last minute that getting a few hundred feet of lights was going to be trickier than I initially thought- since I had to consider ones that connected and could manage the power of 300 ft of lights. I used Americanpartylights.com- it worked out great! They included zip ties which is important since it's against the park rules to use tape (holds better anyways.) I found a great diagram of ZPC patio for the light arrangements and measurements (photo included.) It was a perfect celebration and I HIGHLY recommend this space for any event! It has such a cool vibe even without decorations, your set up can be minimal and still look amazing. Plus... that VIEW!
