My experience with the Smithtown office was absolutely horrible. The PCAs and HHAs that were assigned to my case were a nightmare -- mostly non-English speaking, and some could not even communicate a sentence in English. PCA/HHAs would show up in plain clothes, without badges, sometimes with their husbands or boyfriends, and could not communicate anything more than their name, only when asked several times. I felt very unsafe, as the office never notified me or my family prior about who was coming on the assigned days, and I could never get a hold of my coordinator. The aides would often be on FaceTime in my living room with me in view, on the phone while they helped me in the bathroom, and would often sleep while on shift in the middle of the day. I even have one aide on a recording snoring so loudly I couldn't even sleep. One girl from Haiti had to use Google Translate to communicate to me that she didn't know how to use an oven, which is pretty standard in most homes these days. My family and I were often forced to use Google Translate just to communicate basic things in our own home, which is completely unacceptable in a caregiving setting and created serious safety concerns. If there had been an emergency, some of these aides would not have been able to communicate with me, my family or even 911. There were also serious privacy and HIPAA concerns. Aides were using FaceTime in my home with me visible in the background, photos were taken of me without consent, and some aids were having their family members who spoke English call the agency pretending to be them when certain coordinators who spoke their language were out for the day. I experienced this first-hand. When these concerns were brought up, they were completely shut down instead of addressed. I complained numerous times to Marilu and Christine, and both women were extremely rude and tried to blame me for the aides' inability to speak English, meanwhile they were still billing normal rates for aides who could not do the job safely or properly - quick to take money but not willing to coordinate effectively and safely which violates NYS regulations among other things. At one point, I was assigned an English-speaking PCA who told me she had only been working with the company for a few days and was already quitting. She warned me to leave stating the majority of aides she encountered didn't speak English, and cases were being filled through mass texts and quick phone calls with little to no real verification of who was actually being sent into people's homes. Marilu stated that if I didn't like who they had available, to go somewhere else, as there were no English-speaking aides available. Jose stated that nobody was perfect. People do not need perfection -- they need communication, skilled and trained caregivers, and someone who actually supervises the aides rather than blaming the clients who pay their salaries. And Christine was miserable to talk to, constantly talking over me and being disrespectful. Absolutely awful and arrogant. Please do not put your trust in these people, especially if you or your family only speak English and need safe, competent care. They can't/won't provide you with that. read more

Community care home care struggles with sending appropriate support care for their patients. Although they promised to provide the best care for my family member. They failed miserably and never could send competent staff that speak English and know how to do the job they are being hired to do. Not once! They simply just send bodies to your home so they get paid. We had over 44 aides in less than a year in our home. Also the office staff supposedly "professional staff" are very rude and the others simply just lie and promise the best care, yet they just don't deliver. I would not be able to recommend this agency as they were absolutely terrible. I had many complaints and written grievances only to be ignored. Once I reported them to Albany and Medicare/ Medicaid they had to comply. The professional staff in the office are eager to take the case, yet are not eager or able to be reached when there is an issue. Simply not available and couldn't be bothered. Seek care elsewhere. Love this agency. Home care is a tough space and they do their best to provide the highest level of service.

My Mom has been with them for close to 3 years. At first they were helpful but coordinators are useless. They cap their aides at 40 hours. My mom is approved for close to 60 hours. They constantly change up the aides and will not provide a steady aide because they will not pay over 40 hours. Some of the aides are better than others, but they switch them out! BUT the management staff needs to go. They lack compassion and tell you that they are another case or assigned to another. I often find that the aides are uncomfortable if a family member is often home. Time to move on. Sad because my 97 year old Mother deserves better. Pay your aides, hire quality skilled individuals and stop this. I thought it would be better since they recently merged with another company called Interm. I was wrong! Stay away from them. The minute they know you like a particular aide or two they cut them from you and tell you they are no longer available and in another case. It's a lie. read more

Expect close to nothing and perhaps you will get surprised when a reasonable healthcare aid shows. Very likely your aid will be replaced with regularity, with each aid replacement your loved one will experience guilt and shame thinking that it was their fault. Your aid will have a company issued phone which they monitor at will, if you show any sign of concern for your healthcare aid you put this person at risk of reassignment, the resulting no-shows while they try to reassign an aid is nothing short of a shell game, expect long waits for call backs, 3 hours or more. All while your loved one is waiting for someone to show, many days will go un-covered with this company and you will have to assess the risk in your particular position.My feeling is it is short term system at best, if you cannot adjust your schedule to cover their incompetence, move on swiftly. Message me for details if you wish. I don't believe Dahlia or Natalie (neophyte)would want the loved ones in their life being tended to in this system, it's poor at best.
