He set a decibel maximum so loud noises wouldn't be jarring and he tweaked them to match my particular hearing loss. I had hearing aids about 12 years ago and they were really awful. They made everything shockingly loud and I wound up retuning them. So I was not expecting this to be helpful but my Dr, Dr Sarnov (another great Dr., btw )recommended I try again. I am SO GLAD I did! I feel 20 years younger! I was at a social event last evening, the same day I got them and I was able to hear all of the conversations in the room and because of this, I was able to make a little joke about the topic of conversation (dogs) and everyone laughed at my joke. I can't tell you how good that felt and I realized how much I had grown accustomed to missing. If you are thinking about it...do try them. I an SO GLAD I DID! These new aids are awesome! Indoors, outdoors, with eyeglasses or without, in restraints, watching TV, outdoors hunting, fishing and birdwatching, even on windy days! The hearing center fitted me with moulded hearing aids which are comfortable and hardly visible. The hearing aids also have blue tooth and a tinnitus masker which sends a frequency which cancels the ringing due to the tinnitus. These hearing aids have greatly improved the quality and comfort of my hearing. The hearing center handled all the testing, fitting, set-up and insurance issues with courtesy and professionalism.
