I went to see Sal Tuttobene at Miracle Ear in Geneva, NY for a consultation on March 26, 2018. The…read moreoffice, in fact the entire building, was empty. My footsteps echoed as I walked. I found Miracle-Ear without any problem, but the door was locked. I was 5 minutes early for my appointment, so I went to the near-by rest room. As I was finishing, a large man walked in and asked if I was there for Miracle-Ear. When I said yes, he told me to wait by the office door as he would be done in a minute. Mr. Tuttobene opened the door in just a minute as he said, and I entered a waiting room which was pleasant enough but had a feel to it that it had been stocked with budget cast-offs. Sal knew his hearing aids though. He gave me a standard hearing test and closely examined my existing hearing aids using his desk mounted computer to clarify some details about my particular aids. Obviously, I had been to hearing tests before. At Miracle-Ear Mr Tuttobene gave me the most basic test, where I pushed a button when I heard a tone through my headphones. There is another test I was not given. This test has the person tested repeat 1, 2, and 3 syllable words that are spoken into the headphones. At the Finger Lakes Hearing Center in Clifton Springs I was able to accurately repeat all the 1 and 2 syllable words, but none of the 3 syllable ones. I would not have believed that but my girlfriend, who was sitting with the tester, affirmed that I could not repeat those longer words. So I was not given anything but a very basic test at Miracle Ear. I related to Sal the results of this other test I have just described. He said that he did not need that extra data. Mr Tuttobene reviewed the results with me and told me the test showed a highly unusual pattern. He recommended that I should see an Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. I asked for a copy of the hearing test which he refused to give me. He said the test would be soon mailed to me. To date I have not received it. On May 8, a month and a half later, Mr Tuttobene sent me a follow-up letter to see what happened at the doctor. I had not made any appointment because I had not yet received a copy of the hearing test. Therefore I called the telephone number included within the letter and informed Kelly Secor that I had never received said test. Kelly was very nice and informed me the test would be mailed on that date, 5/18/18. Still I have never received the test. Since I have never seen a copy of my hearing test, despite being told twice it would be sent, I can only conclude that this is a ramshackle, fly-by-night, company. Who knows what other things they say they will do but in fact never do?

I an SO GLAD I DID! These new aids are awesome! Indoors, outdoors, with eyeglasses or without, in restraints, watching TV, outdoors hunting, fishing and birdwatching, even on windy days! They are is comfortable and effective that I put them in in the morning and leave them in till bed time. I am hearing things that I have not heard in decades. Love these aids. The hearing center fitted me with moulded hearing aids which are comfortable and hardly visible. The hearing aids also have blue tooth and a tinnitus masker which sends a frequency which cancels the ringing due to the tinnitus. These hearing aids have greatly improved the quality and comfort of my hearing. The hearing center handled all the testing, fitting, set-up and insurance issues with courtesy and professionalism. She helped me to schedule an appointment for the next day. Their office is located within the Cayuga Medical buildings (near the Ithaca mall). Although the buildings are well labeled I would seriously recommend to use the gps bc they all look alike. Also there are two entrances the back one (coming from Triphammer Rd) is the right one. Once inside the office the waiting wasn't long. After about ten minutes I was transferred to a medical room. A few minutes later Dr Cryer arrived. He listened to my concerns, examined me and sent out for labs to be done. While I'm still waiting for the results, it was a good experience and I would definitely recommend this place if you are in need of an ENT.
