You can find a lot of deals here, the food trucks are an added bonus. Closes a little early though. Could use some music

At Oxnard College, I studied ESL (English as a second language). In general, the buildings are…read morebeautiful and the classrooms are well-equipped. The library provides free books and iPads for students. ‼However, opinions about the teachers vary. I have never encountered a worse teacher than German Bermudez! He is very arrogant, unfriendly, and the atmosphere in his class is always tense! He speaks with a strong Latin accent, and he never explains new words. He always speaks quickly, and he gives strict deadlines for homework that you can't complete (on an iPad), which other teachers don't do. As I was informed, he used to be a student and now he's a tutor, which is why he has a sense of grandeur. I am very disappointed that the college doesn't have control over who they hire... Additionally, I would like to recognize the most excellent teacher in this college, Patricia Viveros! She always smiles, jokes with her students, and is very helpful in explaining new words!‍‍ Her lessons are easy and fun, and the atmosphere is friendly! She is a great teacher with a lot of experience and a kind heart! Her teaching methods make it easy to understand and learn English! I would recommend her as the best teacher in California!

I just graduated from their Rad Tech program. I can only speak for that program. I have heard from…read moremultiple people that the sonography program has been a hot mess, but I would strongly recommend the Rad Tech program with two HUGE and I mean HUGE caveats. The program is about 5% teaching and 95% memorization and practice. And you do in 12 months what you have two or three years to do at a traditional college. Traditionaly you do the pre-reqs, then apply, then if you get in, the program, it's a snails pace and two years to learn everything. Charter is 12 months, no days missed and no holidays. Second, the local hospitals are totally saturated with SLCC and Weber students if you are in Utah. So you have to be willing to travel out of state now or arrange your own clinical through a local connection. Is it a scam, nope. But it is going to be one of the hardest things you ever do if you attempt it. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because admissions didn't give me even close to any idea of just how much work it takes to succeed. And secondly, as much as I loved the teachers there, I felt like they were forced to make homework which was just a hurdle while I was trying to get the lame assignments out of the way so I could actually study and prepare the skills that we needed.

Be very careful before enrolling in Charter College's DMS program in Oxnard…read more What was promised during admissions did not match reality. There were too many students, not enough machines or clinical placements, and very limited hands-on experience. I had to push myself to extremes just to gain minimal exposure. The program did not prepare me for ARDMS certification, and I've had to spend additional money trying to catch up on my own. Do your research on accreditation and clinical training before committing.

I am an alumni of CCI. I literally just had my graduation/pinning ceremony last Friday…read more For those that are curious, want to change to a different career path, one that is stable, rewarding and let's face it secure? CCI has various health care related options, all fast tracked and have both day and evening options so you can still continue to work while attending school (granted that there are enough enrollees to facilitate both options) They have caring and knowledgeable staff who are experts in their fields, and give honest insight into the field that you selected to pursue. They have externships to actual facilities where you get real world exposure and training. You get out of this what you put in, so by no means are the programs easy, but you learn a lot. There are also financial aid options available to those who qualify. Most fields of study can be completed in less than 18months. I finished the Vocational Nursing program which was about 14months of actual school, and already am receiving job offers from several sites. If you're unsure, just stop by the campus and ask for Micheal Boyd. Take a campus tour, ask as much as you can before committing.

In return I got placed on the wait list and genesis still expected me to pay enrollment fees with out the guarantee of being able to sign my contract she said there was no guarantee and it's a risk I have to take as being on the waitlist. So I paid a couple hundred and was expected to still show up and she was still allowing others to sign their contracts and enroll. She lacks professionalism and etiquette and the dean cares more about staff than the students. The way she allows her to treat others this way speaks volumes. Genesis straight picks and chooses who she wants as long as u don't pose a threat to her.

I arrived the night before the start of the diversity summit. The campus was well marked on the streets, though I did get lost trying to find my lodging accommodations. Slowing down as I drove my car, I eventually spotted a building matching the description I had. The workers were friendly and clearly directed me to where parking was for those of us attending the summit. I had signed up for the conference of my own initiative following attending a conference for the corresponding professions in March 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. Finding parking that first night was my first sigh of relief I had made it. Then, walking my small suitcase towards the lodging building, I noticed a tunnel with lights running parallel to the tunnel entrances/exits up the sides and across the top of the tunnel. Pausing to take a look, someone on a bicycle rode through the tunnel and the lights blinked as they passed each strand. So cool. My lodging was comfortable, I was happy I had chosen to pay for everything myself in addition to choosing the summit myself. It helped build my confidence that I could call the shots in my own career. Summit sessions were held across the following two days in multiple on-campus buildings. Talent brought in spanned academia, national laboratory researchers, and people in industry. A few talk highlights included a presentation by a man from a company that had decided to pull his slides at the last minute for proprietary (intellectual property) reasons - he had to improv his entire talk. Another man, from my university (University of California, Berkeley) and a different department (Materials Science and Engineering) commented on how he hoped some day a Nobel Prize (corresponding disciplines: Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry) would be awarded to someone who cared enough about diversity to attend this diversity summit in advance of being awarded the prize. I enjoyed the on-campus meals (catered) we shared together as well. The weather was beautiful and we could watch an on-campus lagoon for wildlife. A birdwatching guide and binoculars had been provided in my room. All around, I had a lovely time.

DO NOT GO TO THIS COLLEGE. I would not send any child of mine here on a bet. The mentality is…read more militaristic and cultlike and the spiritual abuse is unconscionable. A young friend of mine, a recent convert to Catholicism, went here and I was absolutely horrified at her stories. To give one small example, it is required that all of the students sit and listen to all of their teachers talking about them with no filter. The criticism is just complete spiritual putdowns to absolutely crush the spirit. No mercy, no kindness. She was literally crying and they didn't stop. It's a place where you are broken down. All of the alumni look alike, which says a lot. Another thing people should know is that neither Catherine of Aragon nor Queen Victoria would pass the modesty standard. I am not joking. any neckline more than two fingers under the collarbone is considered slutty. The culture is so utterly out of touch and sets such an impossible standard that the alumni cannot function outside of the subculture, mostly because they are so full of themselves. STAY AWAY IF YOU LOVE YOUR FAITH. This place is about pride.

Flexible classes, locations and programs is just a few key factors that led me to take on this challenge, and with myself finally reaching my goal and then some, I must say that this was a far better expirience than I ever expected.
