I read all the reviews for Community Plumbing and decided to try them out since I usually go to one of the big two firms in San Diego. I've seen them around our community and I love supporting my local businesses. I called on a Sunday and Eric answered - first big surprise, was expecting to get voicemail. I explained to him the problem of knocking in my pipes and he said it could be a number of things, said he could come out later in the week. Then he began telling me what the problem could be and asked that I check something under the sink. I did, he told me what to do and bam, the months-old problem was gone. He saved me the grief of hearing this massive knocking every time we turned on the hot water, and saved me hundreds of dollars. To be clear, he didn't need to do that. He could've have hung up the phone, come out on Thursday, turned the valve several times, and handed me an invoice for a couple hundred dollars. But he didn't, he did the kind, neighborly, and professional thing of taking care of the problem on the spot even thought it meant no revenue for him. Good business is a long-game. Do the right thing and the customers, and money, follow. Eric clearly gets that. In this day and age, that's priceless. This was five star service all around. We had a subpar, leaky shower in a 1901 house. Ugly and the seals finally gave out on it last week and the shower would not shut off. :( We found Community Plumbing due to the great reviews - they give back to the community and important for us, they had loads of reviews about how they did well with pets. Eric was super responsive and texted us a $2 fix that we could employ until they could get plumbers out and it held up for the needed five or so days. That sealed the deal to get our business. Appreciate no "free estimate" or "rush fees" here. Plumbers came yesterday and when we said we would prefer to change the faucet fixture too, they said they needed to come back and were not sure when it would be. They let Eric know that we only had one bathroom and they fit us in the next day. Very careful and precise work and not overcharged. Our cat is normally skittish with strangers, but she got a brief intro to Ant and Tony yesterday and today it was just business as usual, she sensed animal loving plumbers and spent the day napping, feet from the bathroom, in spite of tile being cut. She definitely hears well, and comes running for treats. Unfortunately the guys did not have any, so she just napped away, she felt at ease and so did we! I called Community Plumbing after having a pinhole water leak in a pipe repaired and was told by another plumber I needed to install a water pressure regulator. Tony and his assistant measured the pressure which was less than I was told originally ( in their defense pressure can change from time to time) and debunked what I was told about my pressure ruining my appliances. Toni advised that I did not need the regulator and showed me where I could purchase a gage to measure the pressure for myself in the future on Amazon. He also quoted me a price to install the regulator ( should I feel I need it ) which was about $150 cheaper than the original plumber. Then he proceeded to answer all my questions about moving bathroom fixtures, loved up my dog Louie and when I offered to pay for their time, refused payment. Needless to say I am elated to find a good and honest plumber, as my house is 98 years old . Eric and Tony converted our three handle shower to a single handle. I didn't even know this could be done without tearing out the shower! Instead, they made a perfect oval cut to access the supply valves and reconfigure them for a single handle setup. After they were done, they cleaned up the work area and the shower looked better than ever. I don't know how we got by for over a decade with the three handle approach. If I would have known how easy this was, I would have done this years ago. They were easy to work with and had some great restaurant recommendations, too! We had a gas water heater that kept dripping from the pressure valve. Another plumber had installed the water heater, and Eric was reluctant to take over someone else's job. Unfortunately, our previous plumber was unavailable, so Eric accepted the job, and made the time to come at the end of the day, diagnosed the issue, not the pressure valve, but the water regulator for the entire house. Clogged kitchen sink. The drain pipes were, so it needed plumbing, not just a snake out. Easy to schedule and they accomodated my schedule. Arrived at the appointed time, cut the pipes, cleared the drain, and put it back to together. Tony and his helper/trainee were careful not to damage the cabinets and drain the dirty water and cleaned up after their work. Tony and Eric were awesome. We just bought a new house and there were major issues with the sewer pipe - it was the original 100 year old cast iron. They got it out in 2 days, and also tossed a bunch of junk under the house leftover from previous work. They also moved a toilet to a better location in the bathroom, and overall did a great job. Total opposite of the weird creepy feeling you get when you have a stranger in your home that's suddenly searching through your bathroom kitchen toilet etc (ie wierd personal places) Responsive this is the second time I've called with a last minute fiasco and they were able to come out that day without crazy double time fees. ALSO HUGE BONUS AND FIRST TIME EVER- I had a a 11-1pm arrival window. They showed up at 10:50 (that has NEVER HAPPENED). Pricing - while their rates have gone up since the last time they did any work- so have everyone else's. And they are still beyond competitive and better than the other business my building uses that screws u over every time (rhymes with plumbing tree).
