Two guys came from Paul's Plumbing to give me bid to install a Moen Flo leak detection device on my water supply pipe. Leak detection is a requirement by my insurance company Safeco because they want to leave California and they're coming up with all these obstacles to make me jump through in order for them not to renew me. They were already non-renewing me because I didn't have the Moen Flo installed. I would be providing the Moen Flo device which cost about $600 when I take it off another house where I'm not using it. Paws Plumbing noted that pressure regulator valve that I installed maybe 5 years ago was not working. So if I purchase the parts Paws Plumbing would install it for $800. The Moen Flo requires pipe modifications to be done at my house, because of the picture below, and extra parts. It is not a simple installation. I feel like the price is fair because another plumber, arrived at the same time as pause and he quoted $2,500 even if I provide the part and that is only for the installation of the Moen Flo alone not for the pressure regulator. The $2500 plumber waas the Owner of Core Plumbing in case you want to avoid paying more than you need to. The other plumbers didn't test the pressure regulator. Otherwise it could have made more money because it wasn't working right. And another plumber quoted $950 just for the labor alone to install the Moen Flo alone. So I'm giving Paws Plumbing five stars although I am not at the point to hire them for installation because I might get around it by changing my insurance. A solid 5 star plumber called Open Line, bid $350 to install the Moen Flo, if I provide the part, and later, I ALSO found that Moen has "bundle deal" with my insurance company (Safeco/Liberty Mutual) for $1000 including tax and the Moen Flo, which cost about $600, which means the installatio is aboaut $400. I learned, however, on my pipe configuration pictured below, modifications have to be made that would cost more. read more

You know when a service says they will arrive between 12 and 2 and they arrive at 2:30? Well, Michael was 12 pm on the dot and I was not ready for it, but I was happy he was there. He is very professional and went over what needed to be done and how much it cost before starting any work. He wore liners that covered his shoes which I loved!! I had just done my floors. I really liked how he didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing the basic things like water shut off and different parts of the toilet. Also, he didn't make me feel bad that my bathroom wasn't as sparkling as I wanted it to be! I was in the midst of cleaning when he arrived. I loved the no judgement. I am so happy we found this company through a friend. I highly recommend that you give them a call first for any plumbing needs. He also told me not to use the blue drops inside the toilet tank since it damages things. Which is great because he could have said nothing and then he would have to be back out to do more work! We've hired Paws a few times in the past, but cannot recommend them to others. We've hired them to install and repair the RO system a few times. Kept getting leaks and the solution was to get a new system installed twice. We did our own research, turned out that all we had to do was get the type of spout without an air vent. No more leaks and I don't know why the professional plumber couldn't tell us that. Three RO system in 6 years - what a waste. Most recently we hired them to fix a slow drain in the kitchen. Plumber came out, snaked, said the problem is down the line and we need to jet. Later that night, sink filled up again, but this time with a leak under the sink that caused a pool of water on our kitchen floor. Cause? The Paws plumber didn't tighten the pipe under the sink - literally an extra half turn and the leak stopped. But now our floors are ruined, no follow up from the office and no acknowledgment from Joseph that he made a mistake. read more

They will gouge your wallet compared to other companies. the lies from their "technicians" and dismissiveness from the office is disturbing. if you have a job that needs professionals, read reviews and get other quotes. I needed a new plumber ASAP and found Paws based on Yelp reviews. My tenant was not getting any hot water throughout the unit. Paws was very responsive and communicative through the process. Needed to replace 2 shower cartridges (in the walls, not fixtures.) Worked with me to schedule water shut off to entire complex with 24 hour notice to other tenants. Also recommended replacement of leaking kitchen sink faucet. Since this was a rental, I needed to take care of issue immediately without getting further quotes and agreed to their very pricey repair quote ($2900) I do agree with other r reviewers that pricing should be itemized and not flat rate. Overall, with everything being expensive during inflation, their effective communication (not flakes), immediately sending itemized estimate, immediate billing (did not inflate initial estimate) and payment opportunities, my Tenant and I are overall satisfied. I called Paws plumbing to help me evaluate if my gas line was suitable for a new range. Paws turned up, a plumber and apprentice. They reviewed the appliance manual and then said they would need to size my system. This involved taking a look around my house to see where existing gas pipes were located and measuring the length of those pipes. Looking at existing appliances to see the amount of gas they use, and then seeing if I had enough capacity for the new appliance. I was charged $550 for that (it took about 2 hours). It seemed that this was very expensive. I did ask if that was a normal charge for sizing a gas system (as it sounded very expensive) and they said yes. They did it and I paid (I now wish I didn't). I was told I needed to extend my gas line and that would be at least $6,500. I since called other plumbers to get second opinions and was told that those others would not charge to size the system, and at the very worst case the gas line extension was $2,500 and may not even be needed. The people from the company were courteous and professional but I do feel left like I was overcharged and the estimate for the work was inflated. Robert Goins of Paws Plumbing is simply PHENOMENAL!!!! He's seriously one of the best plumbers I've ever known (& I'm a Realtor, so I know many). He is THE BEST when it comes to tricky & large jobs for sure. I own a salon suites concept in La Jolla and we had toilet backups for 8 months. My landlords' Property Manager brought out multiple unskilled plumbers who took 2+ months incorrectly identify and another MONTH to incorrectly repair/replace a break in a drain line (cause of backups). I knew Paws could identify the break on the spot (because I've helped clients have this same thing done many times), so I begged for months to bring them out. Landlords spent $10K+ on the bad plumbers "fixing" the break, but it was unsuccessful. They'd put an improper fitting connecting new PVC to existing cast iron. A fitting they shouldn't have used underground. Toilet fully backed up again within 1 month. Landlords finally allowed me to bring Paws out. Robert & Taylor found the issues (2 more breaks & the improper fitting) in about 10 minutes and they fixed it within 5 days or might've been 4 (including jackhammering a ton of concrete flooring and repouring level concrete). They were our saviors after 8 months of nonsense and rarely being able to use our toilet. I trust them with hydrojetting regularly now too. And they're very informative when they do a sewer lateral / drain scoping inspection. Robert & Taylor are AH-MAZING!!! I trust them with everything now & request them when I call. We have 2 shower heads that we're broken and I called Paws Plumbing out. They were quick to respond and scheduled us asap which should of been a flag. To make a long story short, they damaged the tub, and left a mess in both bathrooms. I called multiple times until I got someone to call me back regarding these issues. I'm disappointed in the service. I had a leak and the technician came out cut a small patch of Wall and didn't find the leak and said it was an underground leak. They charged me $180ish and walked away with no solution but to tell me to call leak detection services. Another plumber and was able to locate the leak and fix the issue within a few hours. Disappointed I paid Paw Plumbing for nothing. Not as skilled as I hoped. 2 stars for being responsive and getting to the place on time. read more
