Community Radiology does a fine job in scheduling and completing the radiology orders but I sure miss the FMH radiology department's rapid review and communicating of results to patients. I was used to getting blood test results and sometimes CT/MRI results within 24 hours. Not any more with CR, and when patients are anxious, the long wait of days can be very hard, especially with serious conditions like cancer. Community should hire more radiologists to complete their reviews in a more timely manner. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The procedure itself was fine. The billing department, even when THEY ARE 100% WRONG is like dealing with the mafia. I showed up on the day of the service with a printout from my insurance company showing how much it should cost. I also had a person name I spoke with and a reference number from my insurance company. I made it very, very, very, very clear when I checked in that I would pay no more for this service than what was represented to me by my insurance company. The Community rep stepped away from the counter and disappeared for over 15 minutes and came back saying "all is fine" your portion of the bill will be the $29. Fast forward about a week after...and...SHOCKER...I get a bill for $234. It has been nearly 60 days, 6 phone calls to Community Radiology, one call to my insurance company. My insurance company calling, faxing and mailing the Explanation of Benefits to Community Radiology and me emailing it 9 times to Community Radiology and it is finally resolved. I found the reps on the phone to be out of this country, poorly trained and incredibly dumb. Again, the procedure was fine, the post billing service was beyond poor. read more

why make appointments and make a big deal about patient arriving on time when you take walk ins ahead of the appointments? Send a dozen reminders to be on time and then have a hour delay for my appointment. Front desk staff was polite and cheerful but this business model is insane. It is disrespectful of patient's time. Staff is decent but I have issues with the parent company, RadNet. They are huge but squeezing customers to continue making billions. Most recent issue - a sudden policy change requiring patients/customers to pay the credit card fee of 3%. No direct notice to customers in advance. Just some text buried deep on their portal page for scheduled appointments. Staff wasn't even informed until a few days before the big change and customers received zero direct communication. Turns out the policy was implemented the day before my scheduled appointment. That's a bad rollout. They clearly have no interest in actually communicating with their customers about policy changes that impact them. A big company knows how to roll out changes. It's simply not how rolling out payment policy changes should happen. But that's exactly how they chose to do it anyway. read more

I've been to this location and to the Mt Airy location. I've scheduled on the phone, I've scheduled with CRA associated at the orthopedic doctors and online. I've never had an issue with scheduling, rescheduling, insurance, billing or the staff. They have all been great to me and my children. I will continue to use Community Radiology Associates for all imaging. read more

Had a poor experience before and against my better judgement came here again as my other location was booked. They had a copy of my doctor-written order but still scheduled me incorrectly; was told upon arrival 'oh, they scheduled you for a non-diagnostic scan' when my order clearly stated I needed a diagnostic scan. Person checking me in actually asked me why I felt I needed a diagnostic scan. Seriously dude? It's on the orders. Then person performing the scan proceeded to tell me, TWICE, that I really did not need a diagnostic scan. Again, seriously? My friggin doctor ordered it and who are these people to question it? I was already nervous, I don't need these technicians questioning me or telling me their opinions. It's hard enough to navigate the healthcare system. Plus, f-you for telling me to tell my doctor to do it less thoroughly. read more

This was my worst experience ever at this location during my most recent visit. Unfortunately, the front desk staff, the location manager, and especially the ultrasound technician were unprofessional, dismissive, and lacking basic patient care and knowledge. I was forced to spend an excessive amount of time at the front desk arguing over my copay. I clearly explained--multiple times--that my copay for this service is $60, that I have no deductible, and that I had confirmed this in advance with CareFirst and also through the provider's own customer service 800 number. Despite this, I was repeatedly told I had to pay $173 instead of $60 with no clear or reasonable explanation. What was most disappointing is that they refused to offer even a small courtesy adjustment to align their pricing with other radiology centers. The entire interaction felt focused on collecting money rather than patient care. The location manager was particularly unprofessional and disrespectful, which was shocking given that I have been coming to this same location for nearly 20 years and have always had positive experiences in the past. The ultrasound technician was also extremely rude, even when asked a simple and reasonable question about the procedure being performed. This experience was completely inconsistent with my previous visits. In fact, all of my prior experiences--including a recent mammogram--were very positive, which makes this incident even more disappointing. At this point, I do not recommend this location unless serious changes are made regarding staff professionalism, patient communication, and billing transparency. Doesn't even deserve a one star and should get negatives! It is IMPOSSIBLE to direct call any of these facilities and all make you call a 1-888 number that sounds like it's somewhere in India! Nobody helps you and they are all colossal idiots! You can barely understand the thick accent too. I spent 40 minutes trying to make a simple appointment. The first I called, I was halfway through giving my info and setting up the apt when the person just stopped talking and I didn't hear anything, so I had to hang up and call back. Then after going through all of the auto message and punching the numbers all over again just to speak with a person, the person says it's not Community Radiology, but Lenox Hill Radiology, which is bizarre! So I hung up and called back again only to have the person tell me they don't do doppler ultrasounds at their facilities. So I called the hospital to schedule and since they work through Community Radiology, I was given the same 1-888 number. So I called back again, and was told that they do in fact do doppler ultrasounds, so I scheduled an appointment, only to see the confirmation sent to me says regular ultrasound. I am beyond my wits end with this utter stupidity! This company doesn't care about their customers at all, and it is impossible for me to direct call the facility. I dread having to call that 1-888 number yet again. They are the worst! It's a nightmare! Nobody should have to deal with this insanity! Just pure ineptitude! I would give them a negative 5 stars if I could. Stay away from the hellish experience and go somewhere else. read more

It was very very difficult to get through. After trying for a hour I almost gave up. My primary suspect's pneumonia. It's hard to breathe. The text chat offered a link that didn't help at all. They offered a phone number that was just their general number all over again. That sends you to a phone tree with limited choices, none include a person or a relevant option for me. I ended up calling the offices of my primary. They had faxed the doctors orders. CRA says it's just walk in for a x ray. It's not that simple. But you can't make an appointment. I went there an hour and half after the orders were faxed. No good. They hadn't checked, and didn't check for it. I was turned away. There was a receptionist and another 6 workers just standing around. I made another trip back a couple hours later and did get an x ray, although breathing was difficult. It didn't seem like patient care mattered, at least in my case. Probably not a good place to go if your sick and need a simple X ray, at least in my case. read more

Update #2... Steve replied from CRA told me to call and provider a number. I've left two messages for this GM and no answer.... no call back. Update 5/10/21 Very clean place but I keep having this same issue about every 3 visits to this facility. The questions that the front desk ask are personal and private medical information. Today was not the first time. I do recall getting emails before my appointment today. One mentioning HIPPA and the next asking me about my COVID 19 information. Then today when I was called to the counter, a loud and indiscreet voice asks, the same questions as the online checkin did. If you have to ask at check in and upon arrival then do it on paper! Do not allow your staff to ask personal questions aloud in a check in/waiting area. Honestly I'm shocked as to how often this has happened to me at this facility. So twice I've come since the space of these paragraphs and last time, the clerk at front desk asked me about a personal surgery by name of the surgery loud while others were standing around staring at me waiting to here the answer. Today I came back and waited an over an hour for an mri. Staff member acted as though that was ok and seemed to not be concerned about my time. I mentioned the poor reviews and got a shoulder shrug. Seems like a lack of courtesy, discretion and professionalism is the main problem at this location. read more

Starting with staff are cold if you don't like working with people find another job. My parents waited a week to get in for an MRI they show up 45 minutes early to the appointment no one is at check in so they sign in. My dad gets called back for bloodwork that he wasn't even supposed to get. They let my parents sit there until 2:30 before telling them they should be in the room next door even though they had his paperwork and knew why he was there. I get things can get busy but this is unacceptable your time is just as valuable as mine. If you see people sitting for awhile you think you'd say something or have someone at check in. TERRIBLE. During a Mammogram, the technician was very rough & not a pleasant person. No greeting, no smile. She was in a hurry & she tore my breast tissue at the chest wall when placing my breast on the imaging plate. When I yelped and told her she hurt me, she didn't apologize, she didn't take her hands off my breast, I had to tell her hold on a second, and take my own breast off the plate, and look underneath to see what had happened. I notified her that she had cut me. She continued with the mammography. I have to say that I don't feel that this is a normal reaction. Most human beings would probably be surprised, stop what they were doing and say "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! Let's see what happened"?- Not her. Only at the end when I continued to complain that the cut really hurt, did she say "Well it's not bleeding". I told her it still hurts! Only then did she say she was sorry. No empathy, no true concern, no offering to get a cold compress, or some Neosporin for the cut, no comfort at all! I couldn't wear a bra for 3 days after this mammography! I have never had a breast tear in 38 years of getting mammograms! I will never go back to Community Radiology in Frederick Maryland for a mammogram. This Imaging Center needs to do a better job training technicians to be more careful. I guess you can't teach anybody sympathy or empathy though! read more

I had gone to FMH for my mammograms for several years without problems. I went to CRA once. No more. They either didn't check my insurance, or didn't care that they were not covered under my insurance. They then charged me $540 and claimed that it was due to my deductible not being satisfied. My deductible is satisfied every year in January because of an extremely expensive medication that I take. I spent months going back and forth on the phone with CRA. I still owe them $540. I offered to pay half. They never got back to me. I will have to pay it or they will send it to collections and it will affect my credit rating. Make sure they have checked your coverage. read more

One of the worst run labs I have ever seen. It's been 4 days since I had x-rays done and they still haven't read them as yet. Another time they kept changing reservations for my 96 year old father and didn't bother telling me, his caretaker. They are the worst. read more

Scheduling was a nightmare. Called this morning to schedule a CT without contrast. The scheduler did his very best to schedule me for the wrong procedure (i.e., with contrast) and became argumentative when I insisted that I knew what my provider had ordered and why. read more

I've been here several times always nice people fast service same day They can get busy sometimes but that's because they get a lot of people here I have never been asked for anything as far as a copay or anything in and out normally with in a hour and that's just dropping in with a referral and getting a x-ray My wife had 2 mammograms' here the lady that did the first one was rough and not very apologetic for hurting her but he was a one off I'm not sure about some of the other reviews I've seen on here but they have a well diverse patient population when I go there I've never seen or heard anyone act any differently to anybody regardless of race or gender or anything like that If I ever have a different experience here I will update this review read more

DO NOT LET THEM OVERBILL YOU. They will tell you owe a 'deductible' in addition to your copay. This is baloney. Your insurance will pay this amount and they will double bill and get away with it unless you call customer service and fight it. They have been doing this for years! This place will rip you off. Nearly impossible to get a human on the line to schedule an appointment. I spent 2.5 HOURS on the phone with a rep trying to schedule scans. When I do schedule an appointment, they have often times made a mistake in the scheduling, but waited until it's too late to reach out to me to reschedule a timely scan. Then I have to wait 2 MORE weeks for an opening for a scan. I have cancer... I don't have the luxury of delayed scan while my cancer grows. Also, TWICE in the last couple months, have reports of the scans FAILED TO COMPARE my current scan to previous ones to indicate cancer growth or stability. C'mon, really?! SO poorly run from scheduling to report writing... awful. The only positive thing is the techs on site who conduct the scans are professional and kind. Everything leading up to the actual scan, and the report writing that follows the scan are complete disasters. CRA, We can do better than this, can't we?? read more

Not only is the staff and facility top-notch, the radiology staff has a fast turn-around. (Always remember the clerks and techs are only part of the scene ---- the radiologists read and report on the findings). The facility is clean, neat, smells fine, large enough for privacy, the staff is happy and it seems like I know some of them for years and years. As a former radiology nurse (yes, there are such things) those people that complain about waits and procedures have no knowledge of what goes in to that technology. I'm grateful for their services for the last ten years or more. read more

Good pros. And significant cons. Timely. Helpful, and efficient. It seemed like a thorough But broke HIPAA. It was disappointing. My medical business should not be aired out to all close to me. Staff was kind in person. This in addition to a previous experience with my family member who may have intentionally been misscheduled at wrong location due to minority status. The American culture of the last couple years has truly taken the care out of health care. The admin staff needs diversity training for sure. These two personal experiences (100% of experience with this company from consumer side) lead me to make referrals to other imaging facilities. read more

Not a good experience. Scheduling said they don't open until 8, so come then. When we arrived they scolded us for not having come at 7:30 to do their huge pile of paperwork (and why do so many medical places all still do so much paperwork? What decade are we in?). Honestly, we compounded the problem by going to the wrong location and then being a few minutes late, but the impolite unaccommodating tone they hit us with suggested they think the world revolves around them. No questions, just started in as if we knew we were supposed to be there at 7:30. Remember, it was their scheduling team who said we should not be there until 8, because they didn't open before then. So even with us getting lost, if they had told us they opened at 7:30 all would have been fine and we would have gotten an MRI done, but like I said the tone of their communications was just not worth it. The staff was all very comfortable with this behavior and the error too, so this is cultural not a bad apple. They acted as if their scheduling was not a part of their team and they were not responsible for the bad data setting us up to waste time and get up early on a Saturday for nothing. They offered for us to either reschedule or to wait AT LEAST an hour and a half. I chose neither. I wouldn't mind waiting if they had even ounce of humility or self-awareness or understanding. I'm just not interested in supporting a medical facility that interacts with their patients like cattle (and it was not just us that I observed being spoken to this way - not bad language or anything, just condescension, seemingly unaware that they are in a service business with competitors and had caused us to waste time not the other way around!). Going somewhere else that values customer experience enough to invest in a scheduling service that knows when they open, and that trains their staff to treat customers like they have options. I do, and I won't be back. read more

No empathy and no regard for human suffering. My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and the mammogram did not pick it up. Only an ultrasound did. As a result, I received a referral from my primary care physician to have an ultrasound of my breasts done in addition to my yearly mammogram. I received both appointments at Crestwood and yet when I arrived, I was refused the ultrasound and was told only if my mammogram picked up something would I be given one. I explained what happened with my mother and that I had a physician referral, had already been given an appointment for the ultrasound (right after the mammogram) and was willing to pay the deductible. They were adamant that they would not give me the ultrasound unless (from the mammogram reading) they determined I needed it. I left feeling dehumanized and that they had little care for what my mom had just gone through (with getting diagnosed) and was currently going through with surgery and now chemo. They looked at me like I was an object that they wanted to move out of the way. When I told them I was worried that the same thing that happened to my mother could happen to me (undiagnosed breast cancer due to a faulty mammogram reading), they let me know how irrational that was and that their machines would catch everything. How can they claim this when I know it's not the truth from hard won experience. I left in tears. I will never visit this place again. read more

Not sure why they tell you to be here at 830 but dont do the mri until 945. Seems like they over schedule. My two pet peeves...being late and waiting. read more
