Do NOT go here if you have Carefirst because they refuse to work with the insurance company. Just don't. I went here and they collected money up front for a service on which I'm fully covered by insurance. They refused to contact Carefirst to find out about my coverage, and wouldn't do a study to diagnose a potential breast cancer without extorting me for money up front. It's been a full month later, Carefirst has paid them, I've talked to billing twice, and I STILL don't have my money back. The next time I came took THREE advance phone calls from Carefirst to get them to agree to not collect $500 from me at check-in. Even so the receptionist asked for my my credit card automatically. Fortunately I had the incident number from when Carefirst talked to them. Wait times are also very, very long even if you have an appointment and show up early. It's a pity because the technical staff seem good but the way they collect and keep money is a giant SCAM. read more

Worst diagnostic experience to date. It gets two stars because the test did get done, but really? Waited more than half an hour to *check-in* and 15 minutes to see a technician for a 3 minute test. The receptionists were polite but incredibly slow. More than 30 minutes to check in 3 patients with no complications of paperwork? Inexcusable. My tech was cold, disinterested, and slow. For such a quick, personal diagnostic, she made me uncomfortable, afraid, and it took far too long. I will change doctors rather than be sent back there. read more

I was back this time for an MRI on my knee after an awesome fencing injury (seriously my knee sucks now). My copay for the MRI was nearly $360 and they warned me of such when they called the day ahead to remind me of my appointment. Given how much the MRI copay was, I was super appreciative of the warning. It allowed me a chance to reconsider getting the MRI, reschedule it to when I could better cover the cost and/or not have sticker shock when I got there. I went ahead with the MRI since I am missing fencing and running, so sitting still is killing me. I didn't wait too long in the wait room and went to the back. I changed, put my stuff into a locker and kept the key with me. It is a closed MRI so be warned if you are claustrophobic. Since it was my knee, I went in feet first so I had less issues. They require you wear ear protection. My only real complaints about the whole thing are: making the imaging CD takes FOREVER - I was delayed another 30 minutes waiting for the disk; and, it would be great if the radiology tech who is doing the MRI would talk to you to tell you how long you have left or anything. In the 15 minutes of silence while getting the MRI, where you can't move at all, and no one is in the room with you - it would be nice to get some reassurance. read more

Stay away from Lockwood Silver Springs MD center. Radiologist Dr Das did not report any of my injuries in the report. Without the radiologist writing an accurate report for our primary care managers (PCM), our PCMs won't know where to refer the patients to. I had an x-ray that reported injuries from another facility but when the MRI was done at Lockwood by Dr Das, he went against 2 radiologists & 3 physicians that there wasn't anything wrong. The physicians put my images next to an uninjured photo to show me why my body part is not healthy. I asked to speak to the radiologist supervisor & I was diverted to 3 people who weren't his supervisor. One of which was Radiologist Dr Porambo. Porambo was very unprofessional & quite rude. While I was trying to give Porambo why Das's report was in error, Porambo cut me off while speaking & told me nothing I'd say will change his mind about Dr Das report. I asked Porambo can I finish my statement & Porambo said no. Porambo then said again, no matter what I'd say would change his mind about Das's report. So I asked again, are you saying I can't finish my statement & he said go ahead but it's not going to change anything. So I told him how the active duty military radiologist years ago, another radiology center in 2018, & the veteran hospital 2021 all stated I have injuries but now we're just trying to see if soft tissue is still injured or are there more injuries than a x-ray shows. I then explained that I had a reaction to medication 3 days before the MRI & I was still swollen the day of the MRI. Porambo stated fluid in the body is normal. I said the amount of fluid wasn't normal. Porambo ignored every ounce of evidence that Das was wrong & dismissed the proof every chance he got. Das & Porambo don't ever need to read imagery of patients if they are going to not do their job. Our physicians are not experts at reading images. Our physicians depend on radiology reports. Our physicians can't get patients to where we need to go for possible injury assistance if radiologist don't report every finding captured. I don't want this to happen to any other patient. Luckily I had several other people who all reported & agreed with the previous radiologists. But if I didn't & this was my 1st MRI, my PCM wouldn't have known where to send me for assistance. This is why I'm trying to get this to their boss but no one will tell me their bosses name so I've resorted to reviews. Hopefully the reviews will be given to a person who can help with patient disservice by these 2 radiologists. read more

When I made my appointment via the phone I was told that I should arrive half an hour early for my appointment at3:30. I got here at 3:20 pm and was told that are running 30 minutes late. Wow! I guess there is no respect for your time and money. They know for medical reasons you have to get the test done. Based on the earlier feedback nothing has changed. read more

Appointment at 1030. Didn't get checked in until 20+ minutes after arrival. Waited nearly an hour for a 5 minute scan. Asked the front desk person if the wait is usually this long. Apparently the staff is oblivious to how long people wait bc he said "no it's not" and offered excuses instead of an apology. Would have been better off driving further out. read more

I called the main appointment center and they gave me an appointment for an ultrasound on Saturday 8:45 AM. Drank lots of water ahead as they asked me too. Went on time during heavy rain on a Saturday bladder full and waited for my turn. No one called me after I checked in , people who came after me started to be called. Went to check why they skipped my name , they said sorry there has been a misunderstanding, your appointment is on Monday 6:15 PM. So, they messed up my appointment had med wake up early on on Saturday morning , go to there clinic in the rain and sit there with full bladder about to burst just to see their inefficiency first hand. So try to find your self a more professional establishment who respect their patients , their time and would not add more trouble to your health problems. Update: The clinic called me first thing Monday morning. They apologized for what happened on Saturday offered to see me at my earliest convenience and that they would accommodate me. They were gratuitous enough to see me at 7 pm. Processed me right away and did not even had to sit down at the waiting room. They did a thorough check and I left as a satisfied customer. read more

I have been going to MANY different community radiology offices since moving here in 1999. They are easy to make appointments with, quick to notify you of anything suspect and even make sure your doctor writes out orders and faxes direct to save a visit to primary care. I have had MRI in Gaithersburg, x-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms all at Silver spring white oak. The front desk isn't the most polite but, having seen the waiting room and rambling patients complaining all day, I can see where that could take a toll. I have never had to wait more than 20 min to get into the back and change but bring headphones and a book to keep your sanity. (Frankly, I do that for any appointment since you never know what sort of emergency will arise and it takes your mind off the extra waits). The techs are VERY nice and knowledgeable. One even stopped my procedure to show the radiologist, that second, to make sure there was nothing she did to cause the (known lump) but it was nice and radiologist was genuinely concerned enough to redo the one side over to verify results and compare to previous images. Everyone has off days. I work in the medical field. I have NEVER been to an appointment that was 100% on time everytime. Expect things to happen...at a doctor's office or place specializing in emergency appointments. read more

To any patient who considers their time to be valuable, don't waste your time at Community Radiology. Find some other place for your radiology needs because this outfit is more interested in making money then they are about the individual patient. I was on time (I arrived at 11:00AM for my 11:30AM appointment) but wasn't called back out of the waiting room until 11:45AM. At 11:50, after changing in to one of your gowns, I was told that the appointment before me arrived late and that I wouldn't be seen for another 10-15 minutes. By the time I would have gotten in to the tube I should have been done and heading back to work. Your team's choice (yes, they made the choice) to see a late arriving patient just cost me an hour and a half of leave I can't afford to take and I still don't have the MRI my doctor needs because I had to leave to get back to work on time. read more

I've been dealing wish CRA for a few weeks now and all I can say is that the staff needs to be retrained immediately. I every time I've been to the White Oak location the staff have been rude and completely useless. All I'm trying to do is pick up my information and it has been an absolute nightmare. Appointments are just suggestions for you guys, when requesting any documentation you can forget it. I had some procedures at this and some of your other locations, but this location is closest to my home. I came back to get all of my imaging for my upcoming doctor's appointment, so I was told it would be 30 minutes for my information, only to find out that they hadn't even started working on my request. Then when I asked how much longer your staff become extremely irate and rude? Where is the customer service? You got one star because there is no other options. read more

If I could give a 1.5 that is ALL I would give! NEVER go here UNLESS YOU HAVE ZERO OPTIONS (and that includes a trained ape using an x-ray machine from the 70s in a destitute African village working as a lab tech)! When I first called their headquarters as the website was poorly worded as to if they took my insurance or not (first I called this office directly but the story was the same until I somehow found the head of all operations number for all of their locations, billing, etc. and got some straight answers). I got stories like, we only take your insurance for x-ray exams if you have been in an auto or some other type of "serious" yet vaguely described instance(s) and not for just "routine" doctor's requests (I.E., a sprained finger due to jamming it in door and your doctor thinks it's worse). I knew I smelled BS and tried 3 weeks to a month to find out more as I couldn't find another place that took my card for x-rays/scans and only until I reached the head of the nuthouse did I get told I was right! When I walked in and started filling out the forms and saw their portion on the form about local anesthetic issues (not knowing they didn't give that and I was just going for x-rays but being thorough which my physician father drilled in my head to be I left them a slightly longer note of all of 2 sticky notes about my issues with novocaine and epinephrine, just so they had it on file incase I came back for something besides x-rays so I didn't have to add more/spend time verbally telling them!) and for me that means it causes dizziness similar to grand mal seizure auras (novocaine and I believe all epinephrine has a catch22 side effect that states it causes dizziness even though one of its jobs is to prevent/stop seizure auras/seizures). When I took the papers up to the desk (note and all) the slender, long, black, curly, haired and curt Hispanic woman at the desk literally took one look at the notes and ripped them off, crumpled them up and threw them in my face from across the desk and nearly hit me with both of them (one actually did hit me)! I was appalled to the point where I kept shouting and asking for my stuff back and they kept on refusing! When I finally got what they chose to give me I cursed her out in what little Spanish slang I know and stormed outta there! I called back asking to speak to the manager who acted like she couldn't believe what happened and said she would talk to her and I had to back to them because like I said I live in Downtown Silver Spring and they are the closest ones to me that take my card! I went and of course they were still assholes but only slightly less so. The nicest they were was when I went to get the scans and I had to go in person because I called 3 times saying the doc didn't get them and each time over the past 3 months (in think it was the end of August or early September) that I started fighting with them that my doc wasn't getting my labs and EVERY TIME I called her office to double check I heard the fax machine going (I can tell by ear as I have worked around them since I was 15 doing reception, in education, etc.) and so I had the feeling that yet again the office was giving me BS about doing ANYTHING in regards to sending my records after how how I seemingly wronged them all for being thorough! I would rather go to an Adventist hospital clinic that takes my insurance and wait all day to get them done! read more

No empathy and no regard for human suffering. My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and the mammogram did not pick it up. Only an ultrasound did. As a result, I received a referral from my primary care physician to have an ultrasound of my breasts done in addition to my yearly mammogram. I received both appointments at Crestwood and yet when I arrived, I was refused the ultrasound and was told only if my mammogram picked up something would I be given one. I explained what happened with my mother and that I had a physician referral, had already been given an appointment for the ultrasound (right after the mammogram) and was willing to pay the deductible. They were adamant that they would not give me the ultrasound unless (from the mammogram reading) they determined I needed it. I left feeling dehumanized and that they had little care for what my mom had just gone through (with getting diagnosed) and was currently going through with surgery and now chemo. They looked at me like I was an object that they wanted to move out of the way. When I told them I was worried that the same thing that happened to my mother could happen to me (undiagnosed breast cancer due to a faulty mammogram reading), they let me know how irrational that was and that their machines would catch everything. How can they claim this when I know it's not the truth from hard won experience. I left in tears. I will never visit this place again. read more

"Scheduler" refuses to make appointment because she questioned the "doctor's" orders.

I was refused two times to have ultrasound exams just because I asked them to send the bill to my insurance company that will determine what amount of deductible applied to the service. After the first refusal I wrote an email to complaint to their customer service. The CS called me and set another appointment. When I got there I was again met with same refusal.They wanted me to pay the total cost of service, arguing that it was less than my deductible. I reiterated my demand to send the bill to my insurance and that I will pay whatever amount my insurance determines. They refused to apply what it written on their website under "Billing &Insurance". I've been to other radiology places (Georgetown, Washington Hospital Center) and this place is far better. Cleaner, more efficient, on time and even gentler. I don't have the results yet, but I wanted to give this feedback. I had an insurance error in their computer, and they made a phone call and fixed it right away. So my experience was good. I think they simply need to train the techs to communicate and track patients better so that they aren't sitting for 2.5 hours in a paper gown waiting and looking for someone to ask what the heck is happening. I can not understand why one has to spend 2 and 1/2 hours in this walk-in X-Ray Community Radiology to have an x-Ray which took at maximum 10 minutes! I also do not know why you have to sign in and watch other people who signed in much later than you get called in while you just sit and sit and wait to be called. It's totally inefficient as a service facility where YOU are paying - it's not a free clinic! Community Radiology must have better administration and more efficient office management. Totally dissatisfied! Who can we contact to report such a poorly run office? They do not care about the customers because if they did one would not have to spend 2 and 1/2 hrs for a simple X-Ray. read more

I signed up for the Yelp app just to leave this review. I've been to several other CRA locations over the years; however, this was the first (and last) time I'll be here. My new Dr. ordered me here for a supposedly quick ultrasound. When I checked in the receptionist advised me that a room was blocked to hold for me since the RX said the test was to be done STAT. Im now 2 hrs and 15 mins into my wait with no end in site. The waiting room has emptied and filled back up again twice and the only answer I can get is that I'll be brought back as soon as they can. Needless to say I'll never be back to this dump again. read more

Quoted wait time was not valid. Woman at desk got nasty and said I should expect that when there's walk ins. I simply asked if my quoted wait time was valid so I could decide if staying or going was efficient for me. I ended up waiting 90 minutes when I was quoted 15-20 for a simple XRay that took literally less than 5 minutes. read more

For routine screening I use the Community Radiology in Leisure World Plaza. They don't do CT scans so I made my appointment in the White Oak facility. The staff was pleasant. There are two separate offices in the building on the ground level, one for CT scans and x-rays; the other for MRIs, Dexa scans, etc. I checked into the wrong office but was easily directed to Room 105. I was checked in quickly.They were fairly busy but I was called in at my appointment time of 11:15. I was out of there by 11:25. The main reason I wouldn't give them more stars is the parking. It's not their fault but the lot is crazy busy. I'll stick with Leisure World Plaza for my routines because of the parking even though I'm closer to White Oak. Someone said it a shady area, but I'm not seeing that at all. There's an Office Depot and State Farm on the ground level and other offices on the upper levels. Was impressed with how quickly I was in and out, just not the parking. read more

I've gone here for years because it's close to my home. I have to confess that I never really felt like they were nice or even courteous to me as a customer but I think I believed that they were basically competent at operating the machinery and that was what was important. My visit this week for an abdominal ultrasound will be my last. Rude, ill-prepared assistants, technicians with no skills dealing with people, an overcrowded, super noisy waiting room (they are over booking to squeeze more people in) were over the top. If anything approaching politeness is important to you in seeking diagnostic services, go elsewhere. The actual procedure didn't even seem professional to the extent that I called my doctor about getting a second procedure elsewhere. read more

Went in for a sonogram. Of course it was very uncomfortable, painless but very uncomfortable. The tech was very sweet and welcoming.

This place is truly awful. We decided to try this place out since they take walk-ins but it was a huge disappointment. Front desk service is poor and waits are long(be ready to wait over 2hours+) most incompetent staff you will find. Building is old and dirty looking. Having so many options around the area this is definitely a NO. Parking is the only positive about this place. read more

With Covit, I understand the precautions that everybody has to have for the well being of the whole community, but that apart, if nobody can accompany you to the office, especially if you cannot or is difficult to walk, WHO opens the door, or move you around?...Do magic!! The technician was wonderful, the others... And then your doctor ask for the CD that you do not have...call one number...just ask for it there. You cannot walk, much less drive, you want to be sure that when you get there you will have it...call the only number in the only paper that you have from them...we have a huge volume of calls, the waiting is estimated at 6-7 minutes, we can hold your space and call you back. Almost 2 hours later I call again, wait for 27 minutes and when finally somebody answer... you call the wrong number, I cannot help you, call this number...then the number you call is not in service; call another number (that is the place where you went)... we are not affiliated with Community Radiology, and keep calling. Finally after almost four hours of looking where to call, and looking for somebody that knew something, Jessica answers and try to help. We do not know where she is, but THANK YOU!! Now the time of the truth, will see if the others will follow when my daughter, that left work to go and pick it up, will be allow to get it. In God we trust, because more and more frequently, you found out that, if they have a salary, sad to say, but people will do the least possible work that can get them a salary without any effort. read more

First of all, my frustration stems from the fact that I called and scheduled my appointment a week ahead of time. I get there, check in and tell the guy I'm there for a CT scan. He goes "ohh......so...." and then tells me that the machine is broken and I can't be seen. Why would they waste my time, have me drive all the way out there, and continue to push my procedure back even further because my doctor needs these results before deciding what she's going to do. They were VERY disorganized. If they knew the machine was broken, why on earth did they not go through their appointments and then call all the patients that were scheduled for a CT scan notifying them of this? I was furious to say the least. Had they called me this morning bright and early or even an hour before my appointment, I could have turned around and called a different location to set this up. I have been using Community Radiology for the past 18 years but today's appointment was a horrible experience!!! I waited an hour and a half to be called to the back for my scheduled appointment. The receptionists were rude and unprofessional. Once I finally made it to the back the tech explained my procedure. I told her that I was scheduled for my annual mammogram. She told me to just put on the robe because they were behind schedule. I explained that my goal was to live and to be able to get an early detection if I was ever faced with breast cancer- not receiving the wrong test because of their poor scheduling!! She abruptly asked me to return to the waiting area!! Once I followed up w the receptionist she tried to convince me to leave because she didn't know if she could fit me in!! I explained that I had already waited over an hour and I would wait another hour if it meant saving my life!! The only positive aspect of this appointment was Theresa- the young lady who actually did my mammogram!! She was the only breath of fresh air about this experience!! I will never return to the New Hampshire Silver Spring location AGAIN!! read more

Awful experience! I waited and wasted two hours of my time just to be seen for 10-15 minutes to get an X-ray done. People who came in after me were in and out before I was. I soon realized that the person who was entering in my insurance information, had no clue what she was doing. She needed to grab the assistant several times to ask her if she entered in the information properly. She didn't! I was overcharged $100 on my credit card. The billing dept. had no idea what they were doing either and do not take down or create notes in there system to see what is going on with a patient. I spoke with 5 different members on 5 separate occasions due to me calling in. I would be told that they would call me back in 24-48 hours and they never did. Finally, the last person I spoke with took initiative and took care of what should've been taken care of weeks ago. That I had to call in multiple times to follow-up with the Dept. about an issue they made in the first place, was frustrating to say the least. It took over a month for me to finally get my money back when I was told from the beginning it would only take a couple of weeks. Overall, horrible service and will not be going back! read more

I have been here a few times. I recently had an ultrasound at Lockwood Dr. There is always a packed waiting room = 20-30 people! Tip: I suggest you make an appt at 888-601-0943. They can't connect you to the specific location, but they can make an appt. That said, it was 45 min to wait even though I had an appt.. Squeaky wheel = I asked after waiting a while and mentioned that I had an earlier appt and that I'd have to reschedule as I had other appts to go to and knew that they needed about 1/2 hour to scan me...
