I sought online for a radiology center in NYC and from a list the "Community Radiology NY" seemed to be eye-catching. I booked an appointment for an abdominal sonogram (since I had Splenomegaly while staying at the hospital due to severe Anemia, I wanted to confirm if the spleen was still expanding) but a team member mentioned to me that a referral from my physician was required. Therefore, when I had a visit with my physician Dr.Robert Y. Lin, he assented to my request for the abdominal sonogram referral. Community Radiology NY has very forbearing crew, they understood that owing to unforeseen circumstances, I had to reschedule a couple of times my sonogram scheduled date. The location is in sprightly Chinatown. Inside the lobby, there is a pharmacy and patients can take the capacious black stairs towards the second floor radiology where the doors are see-through transparent. Upon my arrival, I walked in and went to the team to sign my name, one of the team gave me a very abridged questionnaire to populate. The waiting room is nifty. The patient can neither drink nor eat anything for about seven hours or more before the exam. Eventually,I was called by name by the same staff person at the desk and he headed me to a corridor into another waiting room where I remained for close to twenty minutes -the reason being that, there were more patients earlier than I. Sequentially, a young nice male technician guided me to the private sonogram/ultrasound room where we discussed my medical history. Before initiating the sonogram he told me to lift my dress - in view of this, I asked if there were no robes available -he said there were none and rendered me two long paper towels to cover just my private parts as he decently left the room. Hereafter, he adjusted the towels and ascended my panties before descending it. He suavely placed gel on my abdomen various times. He rolled the transducer all over my belly/abdominal,etc and stopped to capture each image on the computer. He revealed to me how my heartbeat when amplified is heard. I asked him at what week the gender of a baby is identified (via the sonogram) and he told me that every once in a while, it is not identifiable if the male baby situates indistinguishably his genitals or otherwise. Conclusively, he wiped from my stomach the adhesive gel. We expressed our farewells and I questioned him when I will acquire my result -he told me that my physician will obtain it for me. Irresponsible, unprofessional provider. My mom did a thyroid ultrasound here a month ago. The result should be come out within a week, but now it's been a month without result. I call them almost everyday they just kept saying no result or maybe the doctor has no time. Recently they suggested me to call their manager but the manager still doesn't pick up the call. If my mother's condition gets worse because of their delay, I'll definitely sue them. read more

I had a mammogram and sonogram at this location and they failed to send the results to my Dr, it wasn't until she reached out to them because I had a physical that they sent the results, this was 4mnths later. When they sent the paperwork I needed to have a biopsy done. When the hospital requested my imaging, they refused to send the imaging. I had to re-do my mammogram and sonogram only to find out 6mnths later that I have breast cancer. To add more insult to injury, they lied on the report they sent to my doctor and stated they gave me paperwork saying I needed a biopsy. I would not recommended this place to anyone, go to the hospital. read more

Very well maintained MRI chamber that actually plays the music so you can hear it equipment. Convenient Nick is the BEST. Calmly walks you through everything and takes the SHARPEST images. BONUS: they present you with a personal copy of your images AS YOU EXIT. So great! read more

Came for an x ray, they did not need appointment and just came as walk in. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. They just need a few minutes registered and brought me in. The tech was very professional and patience .There was no wait time. I was made to feel comfortable the whole time. The report was very fast, just two days to my Dr. office. The MRI Suite is actually right next door at 208 Canal. The receptionist was very nice and efficient. Everything moved seamlessly and she even called my insurance to double check a few things. The technician was professional and patient despite my nerves and claustrophobia. He gave me ear plugs and a pillow so I could feel more comfortable and the whole thing wasn't as bad as I expected. They give you a CD right then and there for your records (which I never bothered looking at). The only problem: Back at my doctors office 2 days later, I found out they didn't do the correct MRI (which was supposed to be my full back vs only my neck). This is what the doctor requested and what I confirmed when I arrived at the lab. Doc told me I could go back and get the correct one but that was such an inconvenience so I skipped it. Not sure where the disconnect happened but that's my only complaint. read more

Definitely nothing fancy, but very kind and attentive staff, clean and I didn't have to wait at all. I really like that they gave me a CD of my MRI images to go right after we were done - no fuss and perfectly pleasant experience. I just wouldn't go expecting super fancy state of the art equipment that you might find at a bigger imaging center on the Upper East Side or other more snooty practices but it met my needs very well and my doctor called to discuss my results just two days later. read more

My appt is not until next week but I called today to see if they had any availability sooner. First, they couldn't find me in their system. Second, they said they can't perform the test on me and that they left me a message, which I never got. Then she said she'll double check with the doctor and came back saying they can do it. Said if I'm close I can come in today. Then said i can't and to keep my original appt. If i hadn't called today, I never wouldve known that the appt I waited 2 weeks for was canceled. I'm praying that the doctor is competent at least. Will update after my appt. read more

I had two dates for MRIs. The first one went smoothly. The second one I had an appointment for 10 am, got here 15 minutes early. They let someone go in around 9:55 and made me wait an additional 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. My appointment was initially scheduled for 11 and they called to reschedule it to 10. Why overbook and waste my time? Ridiculous. Don't come here. read more

I just had an MRI for my wrist. One of many I've had over the years. Chris, the MRI a tech, was amazing. He rightfully deserves the moniker of Chris the claustro-whisperer, for those of us who hate being stuck in tight places. Hopefully I won't need anymore imaging any time soon, but if I do, I'll be coming here first. read more

Disgusting and irresponsible center! Check their reviews in Google too. Our mistake we didn't check it before we went there. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for them to sent ultrasound results or maybe they just loose it. In other clinics it usually takes only 48 hours to get your results. I trepidatiously made an appointment here after reading the reviews of canal radiology, which this place is formerly known as. Those reviews were not great, to put it mildly. However I needed an MRI and I needed it to be convenient. Making an appointment was easy and the receptionist was fine. They can be a little curt but I don't think one needs to be coddled. Upon my actual appointment, the receptionist again was fine and showed me what I needed to do to prepare. The technician who set up the MRI was great. She was gentle and explained everything and made me feel comfortable. I would recommend this place for an MRI. I haven't had any of their other services. Minus one star for the confusing layout (some offices upstairs, some downstairs). read more

Dealing with medical offices is sometimes frustrating and this is no different. Although there are nice people working there and the facility is clean, the office had a hard time understanding what type of MRI I needed and in the end, I didn't get the MRI I really needed. They also had me waiting for 45 minutes for no reason. While I was waiting there were two other people coming in with various complaints too. Never a good sign. I also don't know if I believe the radiologist's interpretation of the MRI because it is so different from the last one I had just a few months ago. Finally, the back and forth between my doctor and this office wasn't going smoothly and I had to intervene and had a hard time getting just two pages faxed. How hard can that be? Apparently, pretty hard. Hopefully, they will get their act together and make it a better patient experience. read more

I can say with all honesty having an MRI at this place was a pleasure. I was a half hour late due to the MTA shutdown of all downtown N trains (and I HATE being late), but the receptionist was very understanding and accommodated me. My anxiety instantly disappeared with how comforting she was. The young lady who performed the MRI was also very nice as well. It is not exactly the most comfortable procedure, but she made all attempts to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be. I highly recommend this place. It isn't the fanciest place to have a test done interior wise, but the equipment is new, and they treat you with a five star courtesy. They also have late, and weekend appointments available, which I appreciated due to my work schedule. I went on a saturday afternoon, and was very pleased. I hope all goes well with the results, and I won't HAVE to get another test, but If I do, I wouldn't mind coming back to this place. read more

I made my appointment at the Canal Street location. However, went to pick up the oral contrast at the Brooklyn location on 57th and 8th. I found the staff super nice and extremely courteous and helpful. Ada is the best. She goes the extra mile for you. She also suggested I went to the Brooklyn location for the CT scan since it was closer to me and they are the same company is Canal street. I gladly took her suggestion. This is my second time coming back here for an MRI. I really like the environment of the facility as it is kept clean and organized. I had reached my appointment an hour early, but the front desk staff Winnie and Jason were very cooperative and had me fill up paperwork as soon as I reached, and got me worked through with the MRI as soon as possible. The MRI tech Michelle, was super fast and efficient in the process and knew exactly, what she was doing. I am a doctor and I like to read my own films, so they gave me a CD of the MRI on the spot. Also, the facility provided a thorough report by next working day. I do refer all my patients here for immediate and trustworthy reporting and would continue to do so. Community Radiology is a wonderful facility that possibly saved my life? So five stars for you, Community Radiology. I had an appointment for 9:30 on a weekday, turned out the patient before me had cancelled so I had no wait at all. The front desk tech was super friendly and informative - put me in a secure room to store and change my belongings, made sure she had all info about my piercings and metal objects, etc. MRI tech was also excellent. Had been warned about MRIs being loud, scary, and dark, but the opposite was true here. Tech made me very comfortable, put in earplugs AND headphones for me, and the whole room was bathed in this nice spa like light. I actually managed to fall asleep inside the machine with the help of a muscle relaxant. Most importantly though, the radiologist happened to come in the room while I was getting scanned, saw a mass, and worked with my physiatrist to get me reported and referred to a cancer center the same day. Not sure how bad things would have gotten if she hadn't moved so fast. I paid $350 out of pocket with my carrier for the MRI and thought it was extremely reasonable for top of the line service. read more

You could miss your cancer if you use this facility!!! DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY! I had a mammogram there last year. They did not send the result to my doctor which I did not realize. This year, when it was time for me to get another mammogram, my doctor told me they never got anything. I had to call them twice this year to get them to fax the result to my doctor. This morning I just got a call from my doctor that there was an abnormality from last year's result which would require me to get a sonogram. What was worse was when I called them to cancel the appointment I made for this year, and told them what happened, they insisted that they mail out the results to the doctors after they come in which did not happen to me. There was no apology. The attitude of the guy (Jack?) who picked up the phone was like whatever. Such a typical Chines customer service attitude (I am Chinese so I can say that)! THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU MIGHT HAVE CANCER OR NOT. IT IS JUST A BUSINESS TO THEM. What Community Radiology did is NOT acceptable. I don't know what the sonogram would tell me. I hope nothing serious will happen. I could have had cancer while completely missed the diagnosis! If that's the case, I will for sure sue the facility for negligence. read more

I am used to hospital-based radiology but my insurance company won't pay for it, so I chose Community Radiology recently for an MRI with some hesitation. But the experience was very good. I barely waited at all, and the tech was friendly and efficient. My doctor said the scans were the best he's seen in a while. I definitely recommend this center. read more

Let me add my praise to the chorus. I have ACA insurance with a higher deductible which I was nowhere near hitting. So, I was looking at paying out of pocket for an MRI no matter what. Community Radiology let me pay directly--no insurance involved--and pay only $350, which was a great deal. I waited ZERO minutes and the results were thorough, delivered to my PCP and a course of action set from there. The space is humble but the machinery and the employees were on point, so I didn't care. Be sure to take ALL the results--the actual scan and the printout--to neurosurgeons or whoever for verifications/second opinions. I highly recommend their services. read more

What a wonderful experience! This place is full of caring and helpful staff. From the phone staff, to reception to the technicians to the radiologists - everyone is helpful and kind. Jason and Lily were so lovely to help fit me into the schedule. Drina gave the best ultrasound and helped calm my nerves. Nathan was kind to check in with me half way through the MRI to see if I was doing OK. Twinnie was amazing! She helped organized my appointment and walked me to the ultrasound department. After filling out a bunch of paper work and waiting for 45 minutes, they let me know that the tech working that day was unable to do my MRI because she has never done a forearm scan before. It would have been really nice if they told me this before i went all the way to their office and and waited for 45 minutes. Winnie was very warm in greeting me when i entered for my mri. She also went out of her way to help with a matter not related to my mri that day. Her great attitude put me at ease for my mri. Chris who conducted the mri was also great. He made sure i was ok during the procedure and would check in to make sure i was comfortable. Made sure i had the music of my choice during the mri. All in all, it was a breeze and not at all stressful or uncomfortable because of Winnie and Chris's efforts. I would recommend this location to any of my friends. read more

This review is for their 208 Canal location, which is for MRI only. My mom's appointment was for 11am and she was seen at 11am. This is somewhat refreshing for Chinatown. The Saturday receptionist was very pleasant and friendly. She made my mom feel comfortable despite mom's angst about having to lie down in a chamber for an hour. Pleasant experience overall. Lastly, I really like the rosewood furniture in the reception area. Wish I could take them home. read more

Beware! I went to go get an MRI, and what they reported was false. The technician and staff were so nice. I know for sure its not the technician who misreported. Personally, I believe upper management misreports and gets bribes by doctors. I believe that this location is in cahoots with doctors to try to get patients and insurances to spend money on unnecessary procedures. Thank God I got another opinion, and my doctor requested a CD/film. My doctor shook his head and said everything that was reported was embellished and they didn't even mention the real issue. So, be very very careful. Don't go here! Go to other well-respected places. You may think you have some problems due to this places results, but don't buy it, they are helping doctors bank and commit insurance frauds and trick their patients. read more

I would like to share my excellent experience had my MRI done today at Community Radiology, I have neck pain and my doctor recommended me to get a MRI. They gave me an appointment next day because I can't take my pain anymore. When I arrived there, it took me only not even 5 minutes to registered, I love this place because that wasn't a million forms like some doctors office, friendly front desk staff directed me where the restroom is if I need to go. The technician Nathan was professional, he explained to me very well about the MRI process. The MRI floor and their machine looks new and clean to me, I only spent about 45 minutes and they gave me a CD immediate. I made back to work on time after my MRI. I saw some of the negative reviews about this place, I think it depends on what you getting done. For X Ray, most places go by walk in, I've been somewhere else before and waited 2 hours. I have been a patient of Community Radiology for many years. The place is usually not very well kept, but I kept on going because their wait time is not long, at all, and that is important for me. I went in August to get a mammogram and ultrasound done. Unfortunately, they did not send the referring doctor the report in August. Today my doctor contacted them to get the report, and it said that I need to do another type of exam. What?! The exam they did in August was inconclusive and they didn't send this information to my doctor!? To be fair, this is the first time they didn't notify my doctor, but it is also the first time I need to repeat the ultrasound and they failed to notify me. This is a major mistake. I have done mri's here several times, and each time I was pleasantly greeted with a warm welcome, staff was very polite and friendly, and extremely efficient which is why I always return. I love the fact that I can get my imaging cd on the spot and my report within 2-3 days as opposed to waiting over a week. The staff here are just wonderful! read more

I went to Community Radiology hoping for an appointment to get an MRI as soon as possible. When I got there, they just so happened to have an opening available and I was able to get my scan immediately. The environment is very clean and quiet. The staff were friendly and very professional. If I could give them a negative star I would, basically because they lied about coverage. I had a procedure done and I was told that my insurance did not cover it. Not only did they charge me for the procedure but they also billed my insurance company and collected money for the procedure. They were paid twice. When I called to ask about the situation, I was told that the billing person was out. She didn't know when he would return (I was also told he's the owners son, so they don't know his schedule). I called at least three times, different days, different times of the day. I was also told not to worry I would get my money back. I finally spoke to someone different, who seemed to be able to help me. He asked me to send over the EOB from the insurance, I did. No answer from him, yet (over two weeks now). It's been over 2 months of faxing information, calling to speak with people, emailing, etc. This is completely unprofessional. read more

In my entire life I have not had such a horrendous experience. Firstly, when I arrived the two ladies at the desk proceeded to have a conversation in their language for about two minutes before acknowledging that I was standing in front of them . Then they told me I was to be charged 325 dollars for a procedure that I was already told and knew was covered by my insurance (UHC Oxford). Finally, 45 minutes & three foolish workers later they confirmed that the procedure was indeed covered and asked me to pay the 76 dollar copayment. While on the table the incompetent doctor spend about 15 to 20 minutes putting me through extreme pain to then say "Sigh, do you just want another Doctor I can't seem to get the wires through'. Through tears I finally told him to give the ok for another doctor to come in and he said "well it's the Chinese New Year you have to come another day. Insanely unprofessionally, on top off still not refunding my fee. They also left me in extreme that entire day and did not seem at all apologetic. STAY AWAY !! I wish I could give this place zero stars. read more

I had an MRI and x-rays here recently and had a very good experience. They have weekend hours and I was able to get an appointment for the MRI just a week after I called. (X-rays are walk in.) MRI and x-ray are in different buildings but right next door. I accidentally went upstairs for the MRI appointment and instead of telling me to go back down for the MRI, they called downstairs to push my appointment back and did the x-rays first. I had to wait 30-40 minutes or so for the x-rays, but that seemed pretty reasonable for walk in. The actual x-rays went quickly though and then I was able to go downstairs for the MRI. The receptionist for the MRI is awesome - extremely friendly and helpful. The vibe from the whole place was really laid back - much more so than a lot of other doctor's offices and it made me feel more relaxed in general. I was seen right away for the MRI and afterward I immediately got CDs of both the MRI and x-rays which was pretty great. Will definitely go back if I need these kinds of services again. read more
