The staff here is so kind and helpful. I rode up the elevator with one of them and in my limping state, she escorted me all the way to their offices keeping pace with my slowness. The waiting room is clean with lots of natural light from the windows. They put out stacks of puzzles like sudoku and word searches to occupy your time as you wait to be called to surgery. It was a very welcoming and cozy space. Once you're in triage, you are settled in to change into your hospital gown and sat in a reclining chair with a blanket and a large funnel tube of flowing heated air. It was very nice and helped calm any anxieties. The care quality here is superior with the medical staff's kindness and professionalism answering all of my questions and attending to my every concern. When I woke up from my procedure, there was a nurse ready and waiting to offer me something to drink along with some crackers. I am most comfortable coming here again if I need another procedure. read more

Cali sweet from the beginning to the end. These 3 women had me so relaxed before my surgery. They all showed compassion, empathy, and we did a lot of laughing! Today I went to Gramercy Surgery Center at 380 Second Avenue, 10th Floor, Suite 1000, Manhattan, to pick up my friend after cataract surgery. The admin staff, in particular, Coralie, was quite pleasant and helpful. Coralie kept me apprised of my friend's recovery prior to him coming into the waiting area to meet me to be brought home. This place is extremely disorganized from start to finish a big fat ZERO. I was to pick my sister up from having hand surgery. Let's start with scheduling and calling with a time. They don't call you with a time until the day before .... which by the way they did not call at all ... we had to call them so they gave her a 10-10:30 am appt she went into to pre-op at about 1030 i went to pick her up at 1130 and she did go in until after 12 noon. the staff is clueless, they couldn't care less. As far as office communication it doesn't exist also get use to the phase its not my job or I don't handle that. If you are one of those people that enjoy a terrible experience this is the place for you. You will get that! PS if I could give negative stars I would. PS...after my sister's surgery was done she checks her phone and she sees while she was in having surgery she received A call at 1215pm it was the surgery center....why did they call her to see if she wanted to come in earlier and have her procedure....she said what do you mean I was in having my procedure at 1215 when you called? As my first time visit to a surgical center for my foot surgery, although reception area was busy, I didn't wait long at all and kept me calm before my procedure explained each step thoroughly. I was grateful for the professional service from the doctor, nurses, all the staff took care of me during my surgery always ensuring I was comfortable to meeting my ride home. My previous experience has been excellent but after this last experience I can only describe it as a mill. I arrived at 7 am as told and the waiting room was packed. They called me to fill out paperwork about 20 minutes later which took 5 minutes and I sat back down . At 8:20 I went to the desk to ask what was going on just as the nurse arrived to call me in . When I asked what took so long and why I was told to be there at 7 she told me that it was first come first serve and that they took you in the order that you arrived . So if you have a 10 am appointment and arrive at 7 am you get taken before the patient who had the 7:15 appointment . I was told that my appointment was actually at 8:am. So to continue the key pad for signature did not work so they played around with that for about 15 minutes before using a live signature on paper. Then no one tells you any thing else . You sit there waiting for someone to tell you when it is your turn , while the nurses are talking to each other about their personal lives . Finally the nurse from the OR came out and was very comforting and pleasant giving me all the info that I needed . When They called to make the appointment they told me that my escort needed to be there at 9 am . Interesting as they did not even take me into the OR until after that. I was also a little turned off by the fact that my nurse wore gloves, but never changed them so therefore they were contaminated and they use the same bottles of drops for multiple patients ( which actually touch your eye ) So I am not coming back and I think that they need to get it together and treat people they way that they want to be treated and improve their scheduling , communication and sanitary practice read more

I Recently have eye surgery in the facility. The Nurse and personnel inside the clinic was really nice, and they look they new what they were doing. I start having feeling bad and i got tested for covid and i test positive. Prior to going to the Center, I was delighted i didn´t have to do a covid test, but i was concern that any other patient going to have surgery is going to have it without knowing. I didn´t like that policy, They only request proof of vaccination. I expend the holidays without any going out at all and was very cautious. I am immune compromise and I am vey cautious but where also all patients? In the waiting room i have to tell the clerck that several patients were putting their mask under the nose. The clerk tell then some but they didnot control it. Inside, all nurse and doctor wear mask . Doctors N95 but nurses seem to me they were wearing black surgical masks. JL read more

My advice...Stay Away !....Non medicare approved procedures that did not work...the most painful procedue ever encountered in my life. I look at this place as a torture chamber of unsuccessful procedures that neither medicare nor supplementary insurance seem to approve. read more

I had my procedure for my bunion on February 11, 2022 . It's my second time in this facility. I was very pleased with my experience. From the beginning to the end everything was just perfect. I didn't have any problems. Nurse Vita was very attentive and professional. I was very nervous before the procedure and anesthesiologist calm me down by his professionalism and kindness. I'm Still here about to be picked up and just had a great experience with a foot surgery! Appointment was on time. There's a ton of staff. Everyone super friendly. They made me feel so good. I was nervous but everyone was just awesome. Nothing to worry about it was a breeze. I was super cold when I woke up and was immediately given a hose that blew warm air under the blanket. I had a very pleasant foot surgery here. That probably sounds insane but I really enjoyed my procedure, haha. Everyone that helped me that morning was super nice. My surgeon obviously but I had met him before. His assistant, the nurse, and the anesthesiologist (who had a stellar sense of humor btw) were all terrific and made me feel very at ease. Oh and I love general anesthesia - best nap ever! So in the end, the people made it great. The center itself seemed fine - nothing incredible but nothing disappointing either. Obviously, this place rents out operating rooms to doctors and legally speaking, not sure how much liability they actually carry. They will give you a patient's bill of rights to sign once you arrive. read more

I had an emergency surgery at Gramercy and at first was uneasy about using what looked like a pay-by-the-hour motel for surgeons. Having to pay coinsurance upfront before they even submitted a claim or started the surgery, which is their policy, was a big red flag for me, so I made some fuss but eventually paid since I didn't have the luxury to say "no" and go home and possibly die. Turns out, I was wrong. Medically, the facility is top notch. Everyone was professional, friendly, clean rooms, short wait, smooth ride altogether. On the billing side, they did overcharged me about $30 but once I saw the processed claim and called billing, they sent me a check without any fuss and in very reasonable timeframe. My next non-emergency surgery at a proper hospital in Long Island was less enjoyable on both medical and billing fronts. I would rather go back to Gramercy. read more

Could have been a lot better!! I was told to come in at 8 A.M. It took five minutes to check in and ONE HOUR waiting to be called for the prep for my procedure. When the nurse/manager came in, responding to my fuss, she told me I wasn't scheduled until 11:30. Why I asked was I told to come at 8 ? She couldn't answer that question though she did expect me to thank her for delivering the news that I'd be out BEFORE 11:30. On a clinical level rather than an administration one, the nurse who pierced my hand for an IV created a large black and blue mark and some unpleasant swelling; the nurse who discharged me left me with sensors all over my body--or, rather, all the sensors they applied before surgery.A substandard facility. read more

This place sucks. They barely enforce mask protocol for anyone. I saw a man hacking down the hallway and never put a mask on. The communication is terrible. When you call they answer the phone "hi" and that's it. They don't answer your questions, and their post-surgery paperwork looks like they faxed you a xerox from 1987. read more

Avoid this place at all costs!!! You should realize that Gramercy Surgery Center is renting out fully equipped operating rooms to doctors who are independent contractors. The administrators of Gramercy don't supervise the surgeries and don't carry any responsibility for the results of your surgery. If you need surgery, go to a hospital. This is not a medical hospital, so when you go there you are placing yourself at risk. I had botched foot surgeries performed by podiatrist Lawrence Silverberg, who calls himself "the best foot surgeon and best bunion surgeon in New York and the country". After his surgeries I am in constant pain and cannot walk due to the damage he caused. My toes are sticking in different directions and don't touch the floor. I wish I got a second opinion before it was too late. Podiatrist Silverberg is qualified to treat nail fungus and sell orthotics, BUT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM SURGERIES BECAUSE HE DID NOT GO TO MEDICAL SCHOOL AND IS NOT QUALIFIED TO DO SURGERIES. I have a right to say this because he repeatedly butchered my feet. Gramercy Surgery Center should have qualified orthopedic surgeons performing surgeries, not podiatrists. But the owners of Gramercy Surgery Center only care about getting money, and THEY CARRY NO LIABILITY. The fact that podiatrist Silverberg was allowed to operate at Gramercy Surgery Center gave him false legitimacy and as a result I had these horrible surgeries. What a shame. read more

This place is incredibly unethical. DO NOT GO HERE. Two days before my surgery I was told I had to pay upfront the entire cost of my deductible (6 thousand dollars) because they did not want to have to go through insurance - They provided zero proof of what the procedure actually would cost and no explanation as to why they would not use my insurance and Health Reimbursement Account even though it was all PRE APPROVED and the insurance company spoke to them directly. Excellent staff; I fainted after my procedure and they were right there to help me to a bed, and the nurses and PAs were great. They never once left me alone until my blood pressure got back to normal. Magnificent care. Very clean, new equipment, no-frills -- but nice -- patient changing and waiting areas. My wife had surgery on her foot and everything went good. The doc is really down to earth and was able to work with us as far as weekly check ups. The wait room is pretty small and the hall way is long to walk around to the office. The only thing that was kind of hard was getting issues settled with the insurance. It wasn't only us, some other people were having problems as well. But other than that we are having a good experience. read more

This place is a joke! They are run by a bunch of jokers who just quote "Out of pocket" costs without even knowing about the patient's insurance plans. I had to literally get my insurance company on the line with the to explain the concept of a "Health Fund." Then they got their head of insurance, Michelle, on the line who was rude, condescending and passed sarcastic comments on their patient. The office is very nice with a big TV and staff offered coffee and tea repeatedly. The receptionist was pleasant, gave clear instructions about forms and was very nice answering questions. The medical staff was excellent in saying what was going to be done next and never left me guessing which is important. They were chatty to the right degree, informative without lingo and very reassuring. Had I been the nervous type they would have been exactly what I would want! Very impressed and would recommend both my podiatrist who used this facility and the facility itself. Thanks to the staff there for a lovely surgery experience!!You could not have been nicer. So I get a call about my shoulder surgery on Friday, and told I'm confirmed for my appointment on Monday, but I need to come up with $980 in order to be seen which is 20pct co-pay..they have no right when they were getting 80 pct up front...I have never experienced such a thing in all the surgeries I have had in the past.. I refused to pay it and gave them half they then setup a payment plan at 97.00 per month with credit card on file...I told them if they charge my card I will stop payment every month..have more to say but going into surgery now...to be continued... well they not only charged my card without my permission (all i asked is that they bill me first, before they charge my credit card. So 970.00 went to 1320.42. i have never experienced the over charge and greediness of a out patient surgical facility in all my years. Nor have I ever been required to pay up front. I do not recommend them at all, even to cut my fingernails! Gramercy Surgery is the worst!!! read more

DEFINITELY a well run surgery center...with great caring staff

I confirmed and re-confirmed with the staff that all costs associated with this facility, except for my doctor's fee, were covered in the co-pay they quoted me. I specifically made sure the anesthesiologist was included. They said yes, all-inclusive, like Club Med or Sandals or whatever. I was required to make my insurance co-payment BEFORE the procedure. Guess what? The procedure never took place. They decided, AFTER prepping me and making me lie on a cold op table, that I didn't need the procedure after all. By the way, I had to fast for 24 hours before the non-procedure. OK, stuff happens. Then I get a bill from them... for the anesthesiologist. Who, by the way, did nothing. Furthermore, it appears--unconfirmed--that my doctor or his partner or his practice has a financial stake in this joint. It just smells fishy to me. They talk a smooth game, the surroundings are nice, but my experience was that my insurance company--and I--got milked, like a big fat cash cow. The Medical Industrial Complex strikes again. Your experience may be different but, as for me, NEVER AGAIN. read more
