After seeing so many great reviews and recommendations for Buddha Bellies, we booked the birth and postpartum doula services and honestly couldn't be happier. You get a pair of birth doulas to ensure one is available for when you give birth. Both were knowledgeable, friendly, and super supportive throughout my pregnancy. After an initial zoom call to get to know each other, we had a group text chat to check in and answer any questions I might have. They also suggested things to bring to the hospital, like an essential oil diffuser that really helped me and the nurses loved. My on-call doula on the day my son was born was Susan, and she was a lifesaver!! She arrived at the hospital promptly (despite living an hour away) and helped keep my husband and I calm. My husband had to leave for an hour to bring our dog to his boarding location, and so I was so grateful I had Susan with me during that time. I tried to give birth without an epidural, and her magical massages literally saved me and brought me to 6cm dilated. At that time, I decided I definitely did want/need an epidural, and she was very supportive of my wishes. She honestly felt like she became family that day and was so dedicated to my comfort. I can't imagine having done this without her. We're now onto the postpartum doula phase, and while we just started with our overnight care, we are SO glad that we made the decision to have a postpartum doula (kind of like a night nurse in this scenario). So far, it has been absolutely wonderful--the doula is very caring and loving to my baby boy and gives me a few extra hours of sleep each night, which is invaluable. As newbie parents, she offers advice and reassurance that things (like infant gas!) are normal. We are able to sleep soundly knowing that our son is safe with her in the other room! The Buddha Bellies support staff have also been excellent. It was very easy to be matched with and interview doulas--we hired ours on the very first try, as they were all of amazing quality, friendly, and with great experience/reviews. We cannot recommend them more!

Since moving to Tampa, I've tried at least 3-4 highly rated places and specifically sought out prenatal massages around town. While some have been good, Sarah is truly another level. Somehow, every massage with her gets better. She is incredibly kind and personable, but beyond that, she is exceptionally trained and talented. She finds knots and areas of tension I had completely forgotten were there. She listens closely to your feedback, gets to know your body over time, and adjusts her technique accordingly. She genuinely misses nothing. I had my 39-week prenatal massage with her last week and literally came back TODAY, on my due date, because I didn't want to go anywhere else! I personally prefer a stronger, deeper-tissue massage, and Sarah delivers that exceptionally while staying completely within the appropriate safety boundaries of pregnancy. But if you prefer something gentler, she is equally attentive and will adjust to exactly what you need. And if you don't mind essential oils and fragrance, the lotions and oils she uses are incredible. I work in a highly specialized field of medicine, so I'm always especially impressed when I encounter someone who is so knowledgeable, well-trained, talented, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Sarah clearly cares about both her work and her clients, and it shows. I'll absolutely be coming back for postpartum massages -- and I'm already planning to bring my mom and husband as well! Some of these learning opportunities include: groups for expectant and new parents, child birth classes, a new moms' club, breastfeeding support, developmental playgroups, STEAM playgroups and a nurturing dads workshop. This summer, for the first time, Layla's House partnered with HCPLC to offer summer programs around the theme of space. My two year old, six year old and myself wound up at Layla's House twice and I was blown away by their hospitality. Layla's House is divided into multiple rooms of varying sizes. Some are small and intimate others are much bigger. One classroom we were in contained numerous tables and chairs. When a larger amount of kids showed up than expected, they were able to provide additional chairs. Another classroom was carpeted and wide open. This was the perfect place for an assembly or magic show. Outside, Layla's House has a fenced in playground that works for kids of multiple ages. There are slides, climbing apparatuses and pretend play items. At one of the events the people who run Layla's House ushered us out to the playground after the show was over. There the Kona Ice truck was waiting. All kids, and adults who wanted one, were provided a Kona ice courtesy of Layla's House. My kids left that event super happy. She was literally perfect throughout all of labor, and I had what I consider a rough labor at 30+ hours of back labor and hours of pushing. Hands off when she needed to be and hands-on when I needed her to be - Katie was the perfect balance. Both my hubby and I were very impressed. Throughout everything she's been consistent in giving me her balanced perspective and offering the freedom I need to make a decision. Also, one of the reasons we chose Katie is that she is unique as a midwife because of her experience and education. Remembering Katie was an RN in the NICU and has ample midwife certifications, often put us at ease knowing she has varied experience and a balance of perspective. Katie is well worth her weight in gold and much more (she should really charge way more for her services)! Just make sure you contact her early enough, she only takes on so many at a time! Also, when first meeting her, don't make the same mistake I almost made by taking her quietness for lack of confidence/competence. You won't regret having Katie on your side; I consider Katie an essential part of my experience. I can adamantly and repeatedly say I would NOT want to know what it would've been like without her.

She was a calm and motivating energy through the entire thing. Her postpartum follow up was amazing and she didn't leave until she was sure everything had been taken care of and we were all comfortable. She even filed the paperwork for my daughter's SS card and birth certificate. She was also able to help me with some minor breastfeeding issues the first few weeks. If I ever have another child I would choose her as my care provider without a second thought.

My family member was 18 weeks along and had just done a gender reveal party the weekend before, so she knew she was having a baby boy. We arrived on time for our 1pm appointment and another couple was just finishing. The establishment is pristine and beautiful! I was shocked at how absolutely comfortable, clean, accommodating, and lovely the entire inside is. The lobby area caters to mothers-to-be and their family. You can tell the owner really cares about her clients and their well being. She has thought of everything. She greeted us and welcomed us to her boutique. She helped the mom find the restroom since she drank a lot of water to make the ultrasound better. There was a nice bowl of candy, to include ginger candies for any moms experiencing nausea. The beautifully decorated front area has an assortment of baby items for sale and they are all thoughtfully displayed and chosen with mother and baby in mind. There are snacks and waters available as well and she advertises other local businesses that help new mommies along their journey (lactation consultants, etc). I love that she supports other small businesses. I need to mention that it smelled AMAZING in there too! I asked her what it was so I could get some for my home I loved it so much! Even the father of the baby commented on how good it smelled! We were brought into a very nice and large viewing room for the ultrasound. A nice comfortable table is set up for mom by the machine. There is a seat next to the bed for someone special and they can view the large flat screen monitor on the wall or the machines screen. Across from the bed is a large comfortable sectional couch that can fit many people (I would say at least 6!) plus she has some cute plushie seats if there are others there. There were only the 4 of us so we stood most of the time and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the ultrasound. I could tell that the owner, Stormy, knew what she was doing. She made sure mom was comfortable, that her clothes were protected and she gave her a warm towel. She put the warm gel on her belly and ensured she was okay before beginning. We watched as she began the scan on one of the large TV screens on the wall. It was amazing what you could see. She narrated what she was looking at so we knew what was going on. We were very talkative and she picked up on what we were saying and would show us things as we asked about them. We heard the heartbeat and even recorded it on a small device to put into a stuffed animal! She got tons of awesome photos, 2-D, 3-D and 4-D. She even asked us if there was anything else we wanted photos of before we finished. At one point, the baby had flipped over and she wanted him back on the other side. She guided mom on how to possibly get him to flip using prenatal yoga and it worked! We had such an amazing experience and I would highly recommend this business for any services they offer. You can tell the owner truly cares about her customers. We will be coming back when anyone else in the family is pregnant!
