This place is huge!!! Dauntingly so as you don't know which way to go first. The omens clothes section is to the right. There's a couple shelves of shoes and bric a brac on this side of the store. Then you walk into the other side for the men's clothes, bric a brac, and furniture. I'd say they have the most clothes of anything. You have to search, but there are a few reasonably priced items mixed in. Prices have gone up at just thrift stores since yrs become a "thing". We'd been to another community thrift on the east coast and really liked it. Although this store was much larger, their prices weren't as amenable. Not sure why this store isn't rated higher! On Mondays, they specify a tag color for 95 cents, while still having 30% to 50% off other color tags. This includes brands such as H&M, Banana Republic, LOFT, etc. If you have the time to peruse racks, you will find something in their great selection of clothing and housewares. This store is organized and maintained well. Additionally, they have the NICEST people working there - always smiling and available to answer questions! read more

I called this store to check if a pair of Sailor Moon framed art pieces were still available--I had seen them the night before and wanted to confirm they were still there before making the drive. I said: "Hi there, I was there last night and I saw some Sailor Moon framed art pieces but I wasn't sure if my friend would like them or not, so I asked her first. I'd like to buy them if they are still there--I didn't want to drive over if they were already gone." Before I could even finish that sentence (which took less than 10 seconds), the employee on the phone rudely cut me off and said, "YOU NEED TO STOP TALKING! YOU'RE TALKING TOO MUCH." Shocked, I replied, "Excuse me?!" and she snapped back, "You're not even letting me speak." I said, "I'm trying to explain something to you and you cut me off before I even finished." I then said, "That was incredibly rude of you--to tell me to stop talking and that I talk too much?" I asked her name and she said it was Maggie. I let her know, "Maggie, you have an attitude problem. You don't speak to customers like that." She denied it and continued to be defensive and rude for absolutely no reason. I had to hang up because I was so upset and needed a moment to compose myself. I called back shortly after to speak with a manager. Maggie answered again, and I calmly asked, "May I speak to a manager, please?" She handed the phone to another associate and, as she did, I clearly heard her say "GOOD LUCK!" to them. Thankfully, the second person I spoke with was polite and professional. I explained the situation and asked to have the manager call me back, which I'm still waiting on. I will never shop at this store again. No one deserves to be spoken to like that, especially not for simply trying to ask a question. I'm a 34-year-old military veteran who enjoys thrift shopping--but I'll take my business to a store that treats people with basic human decency. Absolutely awful experience. I have donated to and purchased from this store for years, but never again. I recently tried to make a donation and was treated very poorly. First we were told conflicting information then told we couldn't donate a piece of furniture because it had scratches. When I started to put the piece back into my car, the employee continued to berate the donation. I told him "we are done..." but he continued. I'm very disappointed by this experience. I'm hoping it was a one time scenario, but I won't know as they have lost a customer. If you are looking to donate goods to help others, seek other locations. read more

Should you have ANY respiratory allergies, I suggest you do not shop here. I am still sporting a horrible headache after spending just ten minutes in the building. (I have a dust mite allergy.) I also can still smell the aroma of stale cigarettes, sweat, & mold. I honestly feel dirty after being inside. No deal is worth it-- to me, anyway. However, my beautiful coworker/friend swears by this thrift store-- she's a regular shopper who saves a lot of money. This is a HUGE thrift store that has been open 40 years (according to the BBB). It benefits our local vets. Its full name is AMVETS Community Thrift Store. According to a website, it "provides support for veterans & the active military in getting their earned benefits." AMVETS "also provides community services that enhance veterans' quality of life." Used clothing, household goods (including mattresses & furniture), toys, bikes, small appliances, & some electronics are sold here. Prices are lower than what you'll find at Goodwill, Salvation Army, & even Hospice. However (on my one visit), quality didn't appear to be as good. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Clothing is at least separated by size, not color. And all members of the family are represented-- baby thru grandparents. Unfortunately, I failed to locate even one quality shirt/sweater in my size after sorting thru multiple racks. Every piece of furniture I looked at (w/ the exception of one white plywood piece) had at least minimal damage-- scratches, chipped paint, dents, etc. Most had a lot of cosmetic damage. I did find one well made antique table (1920's), but it was covered in scratches; for $16.99, it needed full restoration. Cash & credit are accepted. There's a good Loyalty Program you can join w/ just a phone number. There are multiple weekly sales. For example, Seniors get 25% off on Wednesdays. Teachers & Students get 40% off on Tuesdays. Check the back of your Winn Dixie receipt for 50% off coupons to use here. If you're a diehard thrift shopper, you may brave the allergens to find a deal or two. If you're an antique shopper as I, don't waste your time here. I was unimpressed w/ the quality of just about everything I saw -- especially w/ regard to clothing & furniture. There are 24 hour, red drop off donation bins beside the front door. There's plenty of parking in this old strip mall which is located on Nebraska Ave between Bearss & Fletcher. read more

PLEASE READ!!! I have been going to this thrift store non stop for the past year. Not only is EVERY SINGLE WORKER so kind and caring but their prices and deals help out so much. Please sign up for their loyalty program it is incredible. My weekly thrift trip always starts off with a visit here. Sooo worth a stop. I've been going to this thrift store for several years. Unfortunately, with the new management, the prices have become ridiculously high. Today, I overheard a customer telling the manager the prices were too high. The cocky manager told the customer, "prove it." He told her he looks up most items to find online prices and prices their items accordingly. Are you kidding me? This is a thrift shop, not a retail store. Everything is donated and shouldn't be priced at retail or based on online prices. Most nicer items are priced at the top of the market and their shelves of clothing are always overflowing. Items are there week after week, months sometimes at the same ridiculous prices. No rhyme or reason why things are priced this high. It's become worse over the past couple of month. read more

Well organized and orderly. I found it pretty easy to find what I was looking for. The prices were fantastic. Very fair for the products available. They have a loyalty program and discount days. The staff was super friendly and were sure to let me know about the discounts and loyalty program. The loyalty program is linked to your phone number. Every dollar you spend earns you points and after a certain amount of points, you get a discount. On Tuesdays students get 25% off. There is also a senior citizen discount day. There is a lot of parking available because this store is part of a larger complex. read more

I feel all thrift stores are becoming pricier but I rather support my COMMUNITY thrift store than a big chain company. Also, using their color deals and loyalty program is key. This is a very large thrift store full of all kinds of old stuff. I found some leaded crystal glassware I'll be at only one glass for $.75 which was a bargain along with that glassware I found a beautiful painting that was handmade by someone as well as a needlework that someone's grandmother did back in 1974 and I love nostalgia so they were University of Florida coffee mugs with the old gator logo that was retired in 1979. You have to go slow and look real hard but there are some real prizes in this place. Wednesday I believe it's some sort of half-price senior day so it's rather busy never go before a holiday because everyone is shopping. read more

Hidden off of Nebraska Avenue, in the shadow of the Salvation Army store, the Amvets Community Thrift Store doesn't appear to get much attention. But it's worth a stop in . . . if you lower your sights. Thrifters know that a good store may not have what they're looking for, and a crummy store may. Same here. I didn't find much of interest in the Salvation army store, but I walked out of the Community Thrift Store with a rare record in acceptable condition, a Bill Johnson book, and a shirt I can wear at work, all for under $8. Maybe I could find it at a better price somewhere else, but it's still a good deal. It's a huge store, and most of it is clothing. But I had to drop it by one star. It's hard to find what you need, whether by size or by style. I don't know about womens and kids. But I was frustrated with the mens department; the sizes were all mixed up, and most of what I found was the wrong size. At least I did find a good shirt. But I hope they take the time to at least divide the shirts by S/M/L/XL and pants by waist size. That way, they'll get more sales and fewer low Yelp ratings. read more

There are good and bad things about every thrift store, and this one is no exception: The good: There are a LOT of shoes and clothes to choose from. Tons. When you walk in, the women's clothing is to the right, and the men's clothing is to the left. There were a probably about 10 racks of shoes, so plenty to choose from. The prices are good, clothes ranged from $3-5 in most cases, which is right in my price range. The bad: Clothes and shoes are about all this store has to offer, which is fine for myself, but obviously not everyone. What I didn't like is there was no organization whatsoever with the clothing. Not colors, sizes, nothing other than type. That's a little bit disappointing. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have never been degraded by workers like I was in this thrift store. It was an hour until the dressing rooms closed and I was trying on clothes with a friend. We had been in the dressing room for about 5 minutes when the worker started to yell at the woman next to us for bringing in a lot of clothes into the dressing room. Their policy is 5 pieces of clothing at a time. Fair enough. I did not like the way they spoke to this woman and then they began to ask me if my friend and I were both trying on clothes. We said yes and she left us alone. After another 5 minutes pass, two of the workers began to loudly proclaim that we thought that the world revolves around us and that we were selfish, yada yada. It was very confusing and they genuinely did not stop ranting about either the other woman in the dressing room or us while my friend and I redressed. I did not feel comfortable checking out after this. I did not want them to yell at me to my face. They should honestly be fired. Please treat me like a human being. 10 minutes for two people to use the dressing room is not crazy. The attack felt personal and made us extremely uncomfortable. Very decent in the Thrift Store category. Used to be cheaper than the Salvation Army store next door, but their prices have gone up. I do appreciate the 25% military discount though. Makes a big difference. I also appreciate the good ORGANIZATION they have, that shirts and other clothes, are sectioned according to size. Much easier to sort through just my size, instead of having to look though 5 times as many shirts, like it is in Salvation Army thrift store. I've gotten some great buys here. I have a loveseat couch that was only $69 (before the discount), and is still in like brand new condition. Same with 3 wooden cabinets I bought. People who see this stuff, can't believe they weren't bought brand new. read more

When we asked if that was the correct price (they sell NEW at Lowe's for the same price) we were told to go buy it at Lowe's! I guess if you were looking for clothes you could find some deals. Depressing. Depressing. Depressing. A thrift store can be a fun experience... or it can be a downer. This one was the latter. I was kind of suprised by the low quality of the junk they were selling. Granted, "junk" about sums it up... but, a half empty bottle of dollar store body mist? They actually put a label on it and tried to sell it. That's got to be illegal somehow. There could be ANYTHING in that old banged up bottle! Gross! I wish I had asked how much they were trying to sell it for. Annoyingly, nothing has a price. It is all marked by a number system then they look it up for you. With a pen written directly on the item, too. Who even knows if that comes off. So many items that obviously came from the garage of a recently deceased old person. Fake plywood furniture that was missing pieces and full of splinters. Countless portable potties. Used mattresses with stains on them. Not one appealing thing or anything I would want to touch. As we walked through the scarcely filled rows of half-used broken items and dingy flourescent lights, we just felt sad. And creepy. Everything reminded me of death. I usually love thrifting and appreciate a good yet gently used item. But I would avoid this place. Go a block down to the Salvation Army instead... better atmosphere, cleaner, nothing broken or dirty, better merchandise and better experience period! read more

I have been going into this thrift store for yrs. Donated a few items and purchased a lot of stuff. I carry a back pack purse . I was told by one of the employees that back pack bags need to be up front. First off it's my purse.It has all my things in it ,wallet etc. ( I have had this bag with me almost every trip in there and everywhere else I go.)How would it be if I came in there with a purse the size of a suitcase. Would I be told to leave it up front . I didn't care for this employees attitude at all . You would think that they would remember your face . But I guess with always having to hire new people this would be out of the question. I see other reviews complain about the cleanliness and politeness. I'll admit, this place gives me an allergy attack and I've never seen a smile on an employee's face yet. But I don't care, because I don't go to a thrift store for smiles. I go for used items at great prices and I can get them here. The clothes are hit or miss but they always have housewares, electronics, furniture, books and more that interest me. Great finds. Worth everything negative about it. read more

As a seasoned Thrift Store shopper, I consider this one of the best for my purposes. Recently I got a very good walker at low price for a vet buddy, and have found several serviceble chairs. They do not carry antiques (knowingly) and their limited furniture selection is piled at the back of store. Otherwise it is spacious and not cluttered like so many. Household goods and decorative items are uncrowded on glass shelves. Men and womens clothes on racks with plenty of room....but sizes are not well grouped. Some very good deals, including a large inventory of new golf shirts c urrently. Nearby Salvation Army is pricier, but furniture is more attractively arranged...but clothes are arranged by color.....my techo-geek son would love the section for black polko and t-shirts. read more

Great prices, daily sales, discount Wednesdays for seniors, good furniture prices, especially on chairs which are often $5 or less. Wooden furniture isn't cleaned before display, but goes quickly. Will not negotiate price, but it is already low. Clothes are organized in categories but usually not size sizes. There is a huge variety of clothes, from new with tags to well used. They have three dressing rooms, always full. Electronics dept. is mainly older TVs, printers, DVD players..try before you buy. Everything is nonrefundable in the whole store.
