MONEY GRAB. After five years as a loyal client, I can confidently say this practice is far more focused on profit than pet care. In my experience, Dr. Jankunus consistently prioritizes revenue over reasonable care decisions. Nearly every interaction feels like a push for additional labs, tests, or medications whether they are truly necessary or not. The final straw was when I tried to fill a 6-month prescription for my dog's medication using a 50% coupon. Despite having five years of records showing I never miss visits and routinely approve the most comprehensive labs they recommend, they refused to authorize more than a 3-month supply unless I brought my dog in for yet another round of bloodwork. This is despite the fact that my dog already receives bloodwork twice a year. At that point it was hard not to feel like the goal was simply to generate another bill rather than provide thoughtful care. Long-time clients should not feel like they're being treated as a revenue source instead of a pet owner seeking care. They also make filling prescriptions elsewhere unnecessarily difficult, which again gives the impression that the priority is keeping revenue in-house rather than helping pet owners find affordable options. The biggest red flag should have been when the entire staff left all at once. Looking back, that should have been my cue to leave as well. When Dr. Knapp and Kim were there, I felt like there was honesty and genuine care guiding decisions. Unfortunately, I have not experienced that same level of transparency or trust with Dr. Jankunus, and the practice no longer resembles the place it once was. Prices here are noticeably higher than other veterinarians in the area, yet the level of service has declined. After five years of loyalty, I will be taking my dog elsewhere and will not be giving this practice another dollar. Pet owners in the area should seriously consider other veterinary options before trusting this practice to with their animals. read more

Received a call from Dr Hope today to discuss my review. She made valid points, points that would have been helpful and appreciated if I got it on my initial visit. As my original review stated, perception is reality and as a patient I perceived her bedside manner at the time to be very off putting, and that is the main crux of that review and the phone call does not change that at all. read more

Have you ever been in a veterinarians office that really makes a good impression? Dr. Feldman is probably one of the best veterinarians around this area. He is very helpful when it comes to saving your pet. My dog had a major surgery and if Dr. Feldman didn't let us pay the balance over time we would've had to put my dog down. In the past he has saved two of my other dogs and now my dog is doing great. Dr. Feldman was very helpful with the whole healing process and I am very grateful that he worked so hard to save my dog's life. If it wasn't for him, my dog would've died! We were new to this veterinary facility as our old vet " pawing animal clinic" merged with Companion Pet Hospital. The experience was array from the beginning. Started with the tech not calling me back to tell me the dogs prescriptions were filled to pre- paying for script and being told it would be left in a bin with the dogs name on it for pick up and it wasn't. When I called to make an appointment I gave a FULL description of my dogs fear and behaviors at a vets office and was told they could not accommodate him in the weekends because there was not enough staff- ( I can understand that- it's reasonable to me). When we got to the office on a week day there was a total of maybe 4 employees ( can't imagine how they are staff on a weekend). The dog hesitantly enters the room and the vet Dr. Jankunas looks at me and stated " large aggressive dogs is really not my speciality". Why in the world was I given this appointment with a vet who is not capable of managing my pet when I spent a solid 5 minutes describing the dogs behaviors before making the appointment ? They restrained the dog with a technique I've never seen before and I'm not going to describe BUT what I will say it ended with the dog passed out on the floor coughing and gasping for air for about 15-20 seconds. He had had a bowel movement during the process ( not uncommon) and when he fell over he landed in it and was covered from jaw to hind in stool on the right side of his body. Techs fled the room I was left asking for paper towels to clean my dog up and after a few minutes the vet offered me baby wipes for me to clean him up. I walked out of there trying to understand what just happened.... I'm giving 1 star for the sole reason they actually gave him shots. The dog is 3 years old and I've NEVER experienced anything like this. read more

I had a dog that I brought in for an Aural Hemotoma. The poor dog bled to death after being 54 hours in their care.

We started going to Kent Animal Hospital when our dogs were puppies, Dr Feldman and his staff took excellent care of them as they aged. He was always very thorough and caring. Once Dr Hope and her staff took over as Companion Animal Hospital, our dogs were very old and sick. Eventually we had to put our dogs down, which was done with great kindess and compassion. Now we have a puppy. We will continue to bring her to Companion Animal Hospital because we know she will be loved and well cared for. read more

We picked the Kent Animal Hospital (now Companion) last year because we were new to the area and it was on our shelter recommendation list. So far I've had nothing but very positive experiences there. The staff is all very friendly, the building is pristine, the atmosphere is nice and relaxed, and Dr. Feldman is someone I'd trust 100% with my cat. I haven't met the new vets yet, but Dr. Jankunas has twice given me some extremely helpful advice via phone. But I am really glad Dr. Feldman is still there part-time :) read more

Early one morning last week,my very large and beloved dog Duke collapsed due to tumor complications. I went to Companion Pet hospital located at 1243 Route 52 , Formerly Kent Animal Hospital and luckily Laura and Rhonda were in early. I explained what happened and Laura suggested I return home to Duke and she would try to remedy the situation. Within thirty minutes, she called and told me Doctor Friedrichs and his assistant Jennifer were on the way to my home to help us. When they arrived , they were professional and compassionate and most importantly they identified with our terrible situation as if it was there dog suffering. My best friend Duke was able to go to his rest in the comfort of privacy of his home with the family around him. Continued success for Companion Pet hospital is obvious with Doctor Friedrichs and his teams efforts, compassion and dedication. THANK YOU !
