We have come to this place 3 or 4 times and won't be returning. I really tried to give them a shot. I wish I knew the name of the tech that's so nice because this review doesn't reflect her at all. She was the only kind person there. Our 1st visit was about 2 years ago, I made new patient apts for our 2 pups to get the whole sha bang, we just moved to be area and they were very close to our home. The front desk staff was horrible. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Rude. Didn't acknowledge my presence when walking in at any of our apts. I had to literally walk up and say hello.. no greeting. No good morning. Just take a seat. Ok. Our first appointment the boys got there wellness checks, 2nd shots, they 1st visit stuff. No problem. We were told we should return in a few months to have them neutered, I advised we felt waiting till they were a year would be more appropriate for their development. Vets dismissed my feelings on that, said it was the standard time frame. Ok. The tech came back into give me the estimate for care, again she was SO nice. But she told me I had to pay the past due balance on the account. I said what balance? I paid the $40 deposit they required for scheduling a new patient visit. X2 since I have 2 pets. She said no it looks like it's from a previous visit. I was obviously confused because it was my first visit. I explained that to her and she went to go speak to the front desk about it. I get it, mistakes happen, but when I went to pay my actual balance witch was right about $560(estimate) the same front desk lady who I'm sorry just seems to really hate her job was all annoyed that I questioned the bill. I made sure to check that the "past due balance" was removed. Then she was rude that I didn't have my actual care credit card and just the info on my phone. She literally ripped the phone out of my hand. I thought maybe she's just having a bad day. And left it at that. A few month go by and I needed to take one of the boys in for a tummy ache, same front desk lady put me on hold for 10 plus minutes, hung up and I had to call back, no Oh I'm sorry or anything. I just needed to make a standard apt, I said anytime on Thursday or Friday. I wasn't being picky or rude. She says YA I KNOW. Ok The last apt we had was the worst, I had to bring in my boys at the same time, stressful for me. One of them almost choked himself a few minutes before our apt so I was really upset. He was fine got his head stuck in the gate of the kennel. Anyway I came in solo and checked in. Said I have both boys out in the car is there anyway I can have a tech help me bring them in. They were fine but there was a full house of big dogs in the waiting area, no place to sit or stand. And I didn't want to try and wrangle my anxious boy with my I love everything dog at the same time. I arrived early we had time. The front desk lady was so nasty. Same lady each time. "Well I'll have to ask" ok that's fine. I literally said if they can't it's not a problem would just be helpful. The very nice tech ended up coming to help me and there's wasn't any issue. Front desk can make or break a practice and after multiple times of just being met with rudeness and just the bare minimum we won't be coming back. Compassion goes a long way and I try to remember that, but you reach' a point when you say OK this person just is unpleasant. read more

They helped me when I had to put my pup down after 17 years and an aggressive cancer diagnosis. Very compassionate, took it as slowly as I wanted to, let me bring a burger in for him to eat. Last week we took my neighbor's pug in to have staples removed from a recent surgury done on her leg. Today we noticed an infected spot that wasn't healing and looking closer found one of the staples still in her leg. TO: Dr. Paula Sommerville, Karen and Susan in the front desk, and the countless technicians that have been so helpful since day one (it's been about a year) -- thank you. Everyone is on the same page and full knowledge and helpful tips. Pet care is expensive, let's be honest. However, I find CVH to be less or equal to what you would pay anywhere else. The main difference is the care they put into you and understanding your pet. That is something you can't buy in healthcare. My two doggies can be difficult. They don't fancy the vet and I'm horribly fearful of their anxious behavior negatively reflecting on my ownership, but CVH are compassionate pet people. They anticipate anxious buddies and do the most to make them feel safe (excitedly praising, gauging animal nervousness, properly handling them). It's not just a business, they care. I cannot stress that enough. Sometimes they'll forget to trim my furrier pet's inside lil "thumb" nail, but they're always kind and quick to rectify a situation. Today my Havanese meanie Ollie barfed up a flea and tick treatment I give him every three months. I was ready to cry. It's something I have to financially plan for, so I tried to salvage the medicine since I had given it to him about 1-2 minutes prior. He wasn't having it, and I don't blame him one bit. Perhaps he was just excited for a treat, the medicine is formulated into a single beef chew and he may have gotten too excitable. I called to get a new one, ready to scrap my literal last pennies and Karen places me on a hold, returning to tell me that they would give me a new one for free. I just asked if I could purchase a new one and am floored by the kindness. I know for sure anyone else would have just charged me a second time, or called me negligent. Apparently I'm not the only one that has had poor customer service from this place. The lady on the phone when I called to say I was there for my appointment took my information color of my car and said that she be right out. After waiting for several minutes I got a person that comes out walked up to my car and asked who I was and what I was there for after giving my information again and showing her that I had an appointment I waited another 10 minutes, The lady then took my pet and I waited for another 15 minutes for my pet exam to be done and when they brought them back out my animal carrier was broken and the cat was being held tightly so it could not escape. They did apologize for breaking my cat carrier and they gave me records of her check up, I don't know if I'll be going back. I do understand that they may be short staffed with Covid and everybody buying a bunch of animals. If it were possible to give negative stars I would! The WORST customer service from any establishment ever!! The girls working the front were horrible women, rude, condescending, sarcastic, and certainly not empathetic. Brought my mommy dog in with her 10 puppies for their health checks and shots. The first lady (referring to her as a lady because she was the only one with manners- her name was Katie) that came out was kind. She gave me my paperwork to complete and said she would be back to get mommy first then the babies. Katie got mommy, was very sweet to her and took her inside. She then came out and said they would take a couple pups in at a time so not to be overwhelmed with 10. Made sense to me as we weren't allowed inside. When she came to get a couple, some other woman came out and rudely said "no, we are taking all 10" I asked her if that was a good idea because there were so many ... she immediately didn't like me. Katie brought mommy back out as they decided giving shots to babies with mommy there wasn't a good idea. I agreed. The rude woman came back out to my car and yelled at me for not having colored collars on the pups. I told her I didn't know I needed to she replied with "EVERYONE WHO CALLS IS GIVEN THIS INFORMATION" I said nobody told me and mentioned that it would be easier if they took in maybe 3 at a time and I could identify the pups as they went in, or I could go in and tell them who was who. She said absolutely not because of COVID, I couldn't be in there and that I made it impossible for them to identify the pups. I asked why I couldn't go in because I can go to a Dr office or Walmart, I was confused why I couldn't help with my 10 puppies. She threw her hands up in the air and started yelling at me saying "I'm not talking about COVID" lol - but she brought it up. I was so weirded out by her actions I didn't know how to act. I told her to just do whatever and we would figure it out. Some other woman came out after that and said "I heard three was a conflict about your puppies" I said yeah, thank goodness, the other girl was so rude and yelled at us for not having colored collars on the puppies. She responded by telling me I was lying WHAT!!!! she said rjw other woman would never do that. Well, clearly she did because I want making anything up. 10 minutes later the vet doctor called me and said they didn't feel comfortable servicing me because of the conflict. I asked her why? Because .in my car and they are dealing with my puppies. Not even around anyone. Then she hung up on me in the middle of my sentence. I seriously felt like I was on an episode of the twilight zone or somw.hisdwn camera of "what would you do" Note my daughter got everything on video too. And I told them that as well. They didn't care. A troop of rude women (about 6) came out with the puppies and literally man handled them, passing them off like footballs. It was insane crazy! Each one of them was even more rude than the next. Except Katie. Thank you Katie, you were amazing! The only person working there with manners!!! So I was left with 10 puppies ready for their new homes and no shots. I had to wait another 2 weeks to get them in somewhere else. And what do you know ... I was able to go in amazing. It was like night and day between the 2!!! Needless to say I wouldn't recommend this place to an insect! SHAME ON YOU COMPANION CREW! AND THE VET. I see I am not the only one with this opinion. The whole experience from the time of first contact to the time I drove away was an amazing experience. Every member of the staff was helpful and caring from the receptionist to the nurses to the Dr. They made me feel like my sweet fur baby was special and important and addressed his issue with love and concern and were able to fix his problem straight away for a reasonable cost! I took my pug to cvc to remove a mass on her leg. When she was out of surgery, she came into the waiting room and was then rushed out by the staff because of other dogs who were coming in for an appointment. It was very stressful. My dog came home And for the next 3 days her paw was extremely swollen. I took her back to the vet where they said they removed the stitches so that the blood could flow easier. During this explanation, the vet had no personal space and repeatedly told me that this wound would heal regardless of how we treated it. After a few days, my pug started to get an infection so I took her back where they charged me for antibiotics and an extension on her pain meds. During this visit, the staff was whispering back and forth and looking at me. It was very uncomfortable. A few days later I had to return to get my dog's staples removed. And as soon as I went into the vet, I was met by the staff who rushed me out and said that the waiting room was too full. Once those two two customers left, the staff never told me I was allowed to come in. We had the staples removed, and a few days later looked and she was infected again. This was because they left a staple in there. I refuse to go back there ever again because of how rude the staff is, how incompetent the vet seems and how disappointed I am in the level of treatment. read more

First I bring my cat in for a mail trim and updated shots and he's already semi drugged. They break his leg. Not only has this been a traumatic experience for us but also for my cat. They did surgery he now has to live with a rod in his leg. We go in again for his 12 week X-ray. He leaves with an enlarged pupil that won't go back down. They cleaned his ears and now everytime he walks he falls over. He won't eat or drink anything. I go in and they give me more medication to give him an appetite. I'm slowly watching my cat wither away because of incompetent ass doctors. We are probably going to have to put him down if they don't fix it. They've put my cat through hell. TLDR Decent vet service BUT front office staff are extremely unpleasant, owner does nothing about it and all-in-all are the reason we will NOT be taking any of our 4 pets to see them again. We are existing patients at Companion and we tried to setup an appointment for one of our elderly dogs, to which one of the receptionists with a name starting with M (not saying for privacy reasons) was extremely rude, unprofessional and most of all seemed to be unaware of how to schedule appointments. M placed us on hold multiple times while we were in the middle of trying to talk. When we confronted M about their attitude, M hung up the phone. We called back several times, to which M hung up 3 more times. We got in contact over email with the owner, David. David asked his receptionist if they had indeed hung up on us, to which M said they hadn't done or said anything like that. We are taking our pets elsewhere if that's the way things are handled. read more

If I could leave no stars or negative stars I would. Jackson has an ear infection and is restless due to pain and itching. The vet saw him and diagnosed the ear infection. Last night Jackson had diarrhea so that combined with the ear infection we just didn't get lots of sleep. The treatment along with a small balance I have came to 108.++. They wanted àll the money up front before treating Jackson. I live on a low/ fixed income. I have always paid my bill with them. All of a sudden, they are playing this money game with me. The largest part of the above 108.00 is new and not owed from previous services. I got a grant from animal services to help with the cost of the treatment from the vet. Then I had to wait from another resource. I waited outside in a car. After going in several times and being met with complete unadulterated rudeness, I finally left. It was obvious that the office staff was not going to tell me when the grant had been FAX ed in. When I got home, I called them 3 - 4x and as soon as I said my name, they hung up on me!! So, I have found a different vet and Jackson will be seen on Monday. That's the earliest they have open. It will help me get the grants redirected to the new, to Jackson and me, clinic. WOW!!! What a mess!!! And I did NOTHING wrong. They have also circulated private inaccurate information about me and has broken hippa by doing so. Yes I am disabled, so what? By them discussing it with out my permission and making iñaccurate statements deliberately, they have pushed some limits. I will be discussing this with my lawyer. Do NOT use this clinic!! read more

Took both my dogs here for an intial appointment as we had moved and needed a new vet. They had a great deal running for new clients. My dog had been shaking and in pain and they prescribed him a food that has done wonders for him. Than they gave us this need file for each dog. I went back last week and my dog had done a number on his teeth and needed an extraction surgery . I was surprised that they were able to do it right than, the very same day. They did a dental cleaning as well, and even trimmed his nails for free. Afterwards they gave him a free stuffed cuddle toy. Great people. read more

(READ EDIT!)Only leaving one star cause i have to. horrible office. and HORRIBLE receptionist. has an attitude with anyone who walks in and laughs at you instead of trying to be helpful. when you get frustrated they bring everyone out to talk about it like teenagers. horrible establishment. ‼‼EDIT: I wrote this review directly after the situation and was very frustrated. Now that it has been a few hours and I feel better, let me give a full rundown of events that happened at this establishment so there will be no more lies about what happened on their part. I walked into the office, not yet realizing i had put the wrong time for this vet appointment into my phone. A receptionist named PENNY WITKOWSKI comes up to me and asked how she can help me. I replied like any normal person and said "I have an appointment for noon" (in a normal calm tone) instead of letting me know politely i had mad a mistake on the time and they don't take clients during those hours, instead she laughed at me, and then in a condescending tone all she says is "no you don't" and obviously I am very confused as i thought that's when my appointment was. Then still with an attitude asks the name, I give her the name on our account and she looks at the computer, laughs again, and in the same tone says "your appointment was at 11:30" at this point I am very frustrated, not with missing the appointment time but with the way i have been treated during this occurrence, especially since this is not the first time i've received this treatment from her. So then all I say is oh ok, and I go to leave. She then decides to use her customer service skills and understanding and says she is sorry, at this point I am beyond upset with her, I came in just trying to get my dog help and instead i got a condescending attitude for making a mistake on the appointment time. This was the one and only time I voiced my frustration with her the entire time during this occurrence and i said "sure you are, with your B***hy attitude" (as i was walking out the door, door closed behind me as soon as i finished that statement) NOT ONCE did i use the F word and NEVER told her to "f off", and I was never a threat to her or her safety, I walked out as soon as she told me I was late! Yes I could have handled myself in this situation better as well but this establishment is 100% at fault for this woman's actions and defending them! And when I was out in my car after they looked out their window at me, an actual vet came outside and started yelling at me telling me to leave RIGHT as i had just gotten into my car (trust me I wanted to leave just as much as they did) I am a 19 year old girl. If anyone felt threatened in this situation I did. All i did was try and take my dog into a vet appointment and instead I was just embarrassed, scared, and very frustrated that i was going to trust these people with my dog. And one last thing, this woman is so unprofessional she took to her personal facebook posting her (lies) about what happened! Someone tell me why she still has a job here?? I've seen multiple bad reviews on here about her and she makes people feel stupid and uncomfortable talking to her! I hope this gains a better reply from this office because the one I have gotten is so far is just ridiculous. Back in May 13th(Friday the 13th), I was walking my service and emotional support dogs in my neighborhood where 3 pit bulls rushed out and brutally attacked them. Both of my dogs were badly mauled with blood everywhere. I was in a panic because I couldn't do much due to my disability. Luckily my neighbors were able to watch my dogs while I quickly get my car and take them to the vet. When I arrived at Companion, I rushed in begging for help. My emotional support dog Daisy was badly cut and the staff advised me to take them to the E.R. I explained to them that because of my disability, I can only drive within the area of Lacey. The Companion staff understood and even assisted me on bringing my dogs to Olympia Pet Emergency as one drove my car with me. Today, both of my dog's are happy and healthy. Unfortunately I had to retire my service dog Huck because he and Daisy now get a little more anxious ever since the pit bull attacks, but the overwhelming care and assistance through Companion Vet was beyond amazing. No words can truly express my gratitude to them. read more

I started coming to this vet because my aunt and her dogs come here as well. With vet visits and any medical related visits, you always want the people who work in such jobs to feel concerned and to take care of your situation. Get that I've been coming to this vet for years. I have both an 8 year old mini schnauzer & a 2 year old cat. Both have had medical issues and Dr. Paula and her vet tech have taken really good care of our schnauzer. As well as our cat. Have had no issues with her or her vet tech. On the other hand, the front desk has always given us attitude and a hard time trying to get information about our issues with our animals. I cannot stress any more about how a simple question about my cats food can be annoying to their front desk ladies. They talk to me like I'm dumb and have no knowledge about how MY animals are reacting and why they're reacting that way. Also! When they take our animals in the back to weigh and do shots, the walls aren't as thick as they think. They talk behind our backs on why we're taking our animals for such a "simple" issue. And when they bring back our animal, they give us a look like they're tired and don't want to deal with us. I DO NOT FEEL WELCOMED HERE. As I watched other customers come in and out of their hospital, they treat them the same exact way. I hate that the doctors are 5 stars, but everyone else isn't even comparable. I may be their 50th customer of the day, but they're the FIRST assistant I see that day. read more

Sadly I was recommended this vet. Very disappointed with the the service from both front desk staff and vet doctors. The receptionist was unprofessional and blamed me for not giving her the correct info, but looking at her handwriting.. I wonder if she just couldn't read her own writing..had a hard time getting records transferred for my new pet. I brought my concerns to the doctor for overall wellness check and she barely even looked at my dog, paying attention more to her hips and telling me things I already knew. I said I was concerned with bumps on her ears and she said "probably just callouses" without even looking. It has been a couple months since and bumps have spread and are worse... I am never going back there. Horrible service. My new vet is amazing and very attentive. and tried getting vaccine records from companion, but companion said they didn't have them..??? I should have just waited to get a spot with my new vet instead of waisting money here. Also the prices were more expensive at companion. Very disappointed. My sweet dog who is a shelter rescue definitely has skin issue on ears and My new vet did scraping and got samples of ear bumps and sent me home with medication and follow up care appointment. I have brought my bulldog Rocket here since around this time last year when I first got him. The staff have always been professional and caring when dealing with my boy. He has had 3 surgeries, one to neuter and two for cherry eye in each eye. My dog recovered well and any questions I had where always answered. The staff even take the difficult task of trimming his nails and it's greatly appreciated. I just brought in my boy for his annual vaccinations and they took care of all of them on the pot without issues. Maybe less than 15 minutes? The staff here is great and always provides all related paperwork for the visit so that I can submit it to the insurance company. read more

I have been there twice now with my dog. The first time I was there I felt that I didn't get the help I needed with my dog, but I didn't give it much thought because the visit was free with my first time coupon. The second time I was there I also felt unsatisfied. Even though everyone was really friendly, the vet didn't answer all my questions. I asked about something I was concerned about and she literally said "I don't know" and left it at that. It felt like they were rushing to get us out of there and when I asked the vet tech lady about the weird growth on my dog she also said she didn't know what it was. So basically I feel like I paid $100 exam fee just to be told by two people that they didn't know what was going on with my dog. I am definitely going to be going somewhere else for a second opinion. Yes, the customer service is bad. More than that, the clinical practice is poor. After paying $500+ for some bloodwork all I got was a message on the phone that everything was ok. Our dog was tested for a number of things - how hard would it be to give us a list of all the tests and the results? And for $500, I don't think it would be too much to ask to have a printed document. On top of that, they refused us a more affordable way to pay for our dog's allergy pills. They were charging us $136 for a common dog allergy medication - Apoquel. We found it at half that price through Petco. Petco requires a confirmation from the vet that the rx is legit. You guessed it - Companion Vet refused to acknowledge our dog was treated there! I'm not sure what else could be poor about this place. I would strongly suggest going elsewhere. Plus the passive aggressive responses to people's reviews (which I assume will follow mine soon) - not cool! read more

They turned little things like scheduling, pick up/drop off & questions about treatment into awkward situations. My wife and I arrived in lacey, WA in November of Last year; We immediately Bought a puppy and named her Belle(after Beauty And The Beast), unfortunately That's night she started getting very sick, my wife immediately told me that Companion Veterinary clinic was a great place as she had taken her three dogs when she lived here before. WE immediately went in and got seen very quickly, and met Dr. Sommerville, She was able to diagnose and treat belle very quickly. A few days later; belle was well and back to her normal self, since then we have always gone to Companion and Belle is so excited to see Dr. Sommerville. We recently got a new puppy(Kida) and of course we took her to Companion. We will always be indebted to them for keeping our family together. STAFF: The staff is very friendly and always giving Belle and Kida treats. Very respectful and will answer any and all questions my wife or I had.
