Great place to leave your kitty while you're out of town. They do 3 yr rabies vaccines which save money. I gave 4 stars only because of being a "closed" clinic, ring a bell at an outdoor window and wait to get checked in, pet owners never enter the place. For people with severe back pain or other serious health issues having that set up is not convenient. Otherwise we love the place. read more

We recently had a terrible experience with the Kitty Klinic in Lacey. When my 11 year old cat was coughing about 7 weeks ago, I took him in to be checked and due to negligence and/or incompetence and/or errors, he was seriously misdiagnosed with asthma and was given prednisolone which most likely worsened his underlying condition. When I called them after 3 weeks because his cough wasn't improving, they said it could just take some time and recommended that I increase the prednisolone. We took him to another vet and by then he was already in critical condition with full blown congestive heart failure. We had to choose within a week between subjecting him to ongoing ER visits and daily multiple medications or euthanasia. We knew he would not do well in the ER, so we made the agonizing decision to euthanize him. If I had known then what I have since learned, I would have realized that the diagnosis was incorrect. How can a vet see a significant weight loss and an enlarged heart on an x-ray and make the diagnosis of Asthma?? A cough, weight loss and an enlarged heart are all common symptoms of CHF. They did not suggest an echocardiogram or any other tests or follow up care. We will never know what the outcome would have been if the correct diagnosis had been made initially, but it really couldn't have been worse. Because I couldn't be in the room with him, they couldn't ask me questions about his behavior, eating habits, or anything else that could have assisted with a diagnosis. Cats hide pain very well. How could they possibly get all the information they needed from the cat? In retrospect it seems unconscionable to me that they will not allow any communication with the owner while they are examining our pets. The only communication you can have with the vet is when she calls you. I have to assume that they are hiding something and do not want us to see what is going on behind their closed door. If you need care for your cats, take them somewhere else. read more

My elderly cat has gotten the best love and care here - the specialty in cats makes me feel really positive about the quality of care they get here (kind of like taking your kid to a pediatrician instead of a family practice). I like that they have Saturday hours and will work with you to get the care your pet needs. read more

Wow!!!!! Unbelievable! We took our kitty in for a pedicure which here its 25.00. Ok, a bit pricey considering when we lived in federal way, it was 12.00. BUT today, 40.00, for 5 minutes of clipping nails? Are u serious? My husband asked why so much? They said. "Oh we are now charging a 15.00 Tech fee". What? I don't pay this for a pedicure! In all the shenanigans woth covid and how vet clinics have been booked out months and want payment upfront, the kitty Klinic stands out and above them all. After calling ~8 clinicks from shelton through olympia, not only were they able to get my kitty that was throwing up blood like the next day, they also didn't need payment upfront. The Dr is super knowledgeable of the issue and after examining my cat and her records she was able to lay out the options and explained why she wanted to start with 1 and then the others of needed (the others were really invasive). After going with the first option for a couple months now my cat is doing so well. She is a whole new cat. Her torti-tude is back in full force lol. Payment is done after services and wow has it been reasonable. I dont have any pet insurance and even after taking 2 of my 3 cats here for various appoitments and surgeries, all the prices were reasonable and noticeably cheaper than any place I've been to in/around Seattle or Renton. The only issues i have is that i cant go in with my cats. You wouldnt send your child into a dr office alone, so i hate that i have to do it with my cat. =( but the vet treats them well and let's them keep their blanket from home with them for the apt. Also, I've had a bit of a miss communication over where one of my cats needed to have a growth looked at/removed but the Dr was helpful and took my cat in over night so they could correct it at no charge. An annoyance BUT I'm very grateful they were looking out for my cats health and even willing to do it and didn't make me come back at a later date. read more

I have taken my cats to Kitty Klinic for the past 21 yrs...My last boy died of renal failure 2 yrs ago. So i finally got another kitty and was told that Kitty Klinic still make you drop off your cat for treatment. I understand why that started that with covid but WHY are they still continuing that practice...I need to be with my cat when she is being examined as i feel she might nip . Nipping is a way she shows she is not happy with the situation. I also feel for the money we pay we need to ask the vet questions directly while they are examining our cats...So due to this i have made a appt. with another local vet that will be putting my kitty and me first ...I think they are doing this so they don't have to deal with the kitty's worried mom or dad.... read more

I was going to book an appointment with the Kitty Klinic until I was told that I needed to pay a deposit in advance. I can understand that for a new patient, because people can be flakey, but I asked if that would be an ongoing requirement, and she said that yes, appointments needed to be paid for when booked. NO OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS ask us to pay for services in advance. We always pay when services are rendered. I put out a question on Facebook and had many friends provide names of their vets who DO NOT REQUEST PAYMENT in advance. I have booked an appointment at a vet who does not request payment in advance. The customers of a business pay for the building, salaries, supplies, etc. We deserve to be treated with respect. If customers refuse to allow practices like this, businesses won't be able to inflict them on us. read more

They answered all my questions, I was able to fill out paperwork before the visit and they were easy to get into. My cat got fixed here and was given flea treatment that did not work and now my cat has worms and fleas. I don't recommend taking your cats/kittens here. Their flea medication does not work. It's been less than a month my cat has been fixed. And the girl at front desk says it's my fault. I'd recommend taking your cat to a place their health will be cared for and valued. His brand new cat carrier also came back with urine all over it so I'm not sure if they provide adequate necessities for the fur babies! read more

Oliver's Story. I figure the tale of my 19 yo cat tells all. Oliver had taken a turn for the worse. He was starting to have accidents outside the cat box, his arthritis made walking wobbly and he had lost his vision and spacial orientation literally rolling out of laps at times. When he started pacing and crying we called to bring him to the vet. I gave a detailed description of his issues by phone and brought him in. I completed a paper intake as there is no face contact with the vet. You drop the cat off, they then call you with assessment. The assessment came back that he needed updated shots to be seen and blood work totaling over $400. This seemed excessive for a date with the vet, but I went ahead and agreed to it. The vet called in the afternoon to advise Oliver's kidneys and liver were shutting down, he was anemic, blind for reasons unknown and she had a complete laundry list of suppliers, shots and the link for him. I remember saying "he's 19 years old! You aren't going to be able to reverse this". I said given so much wrong he probably should be put down. The vet said "if that's what you wanted to do why did you do all this labwork?" to which I replied " when in this process was I able to convey this?" We ended up bringing him home with some freebie suppliments and a couple of shots, total vet bill over $500. The vet wanted to know how he is doing so here s my report: Oliver rallied briefly this week with his new hospice ward in our main bathroom. For several days he ate the suppliment laced food, and had a better grip on his bladder. Today is Sunday. 6 days after you saw him and he has lost interest in food and his incontinence is back. He's napping on the couch as I write this and then I'll carry him to his catbox hoping we get there before he pees on me in transit. I really like that they only do cats, I think it's less stressful for my kitties with no dogs around. Their services are very affordable and they were able to get me an appointment in a reasonable amount of time for my pets' annual checkup. My one kitty also got a bladder infection and they were able to fit her in right away and treated the infection without going overboard but being very considerate of my cat's comfort and well being. Shortly afterwards I got an email from Kitty Klinic asking for my review, and I responded with information I shared above. I've been using their veterinary services since 2012. The staff is friendly and all four doctors are very knowledgeable and extremely compassionate. They're all cat owners as well. The office has a comfortable feel to it, and I love the fact that they only see cats at this facility. Going to the vet is stressful enough for cats without having to worry about interacting with dogs, especially large ones. They also allow you to drop off your pet for its appointment and you can pick it up later in case you're on a bit of a time crunch. I prefer to stay with my pet, but I'm sure this is a convenient option for many. In addition to veterinary services, the facility has a Kitty Komfort-Inn for boarding. I haven't utilized this service yet, but it looks like a nice setup for the feline guests. Each room is themed and has plenty of room to play as well as a heated window sill. The first few times I brought my kitty here were for illness. They did a thorough exam and ran blood work to rule out anything serious or life-threatening. They were very helpful in determining what was causing the vomiting and ways to control it, including diet changes. The clinic has an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray facility, and surgery suite. They also sell various pet products such as prescription food, flea control, toys, and grooming products. One of the things I found interesting is that they can make your pet's liquid medication into a tasty flavor. Some of the flavors available include grilled tuna, chicken pot pie, crispy bacon, peanut butter, chopped liver, salmon steak, mom's banana bread, sardine splendor, and roasted lamb. This is sure to come in handy for pets who don't like taking their medication! The facility has evening and Saturday hours, and prices are reasonable. The only suggestion I would like to see implemented is a military discount. read more

Absolutely horrendous staff here. I just got a new kitten from out of state, still healing from her surgery, and two days from her appointment I called for advice on securing her cone with something different. The lady was super rude on the phone, insisting I only go back to the first vet that performed the surgery and refused to help at all. I tried to explain that I have an appointment coming up and will be a new pet mom who lost a previous pet and she cut me off and said she wouldn't listen to me unless I spoke like an adult. They then promptly cancelled my appointment, and after I commented on their Facebook page the situation, the girl Emily started commenting back, arguing with me and claiming I yelled at her. Very unprofessional team, I highly recommend you find somewhere better for your pets. The vet I am taking her to now was shocked at the mistreatment at this place. read more

While we are no longer at JBLM, I still wanted to share our experience with Kitty Klinic. We really loved brining both of our cats here, and they were the only vet we used from 2016-2019. They had great scheduling, were very responsive to my calls requesting pet med refills, easy to work with on appointments, very friendly, and very open to hearing our concerns about our cats. Their boarding has great prices and the "suites" are an excellent option, especially if your cats have serious anxiety like mine. The providers are great and they have a fear-free policy/mindset. The Kitty Klinic stole my heart! I had a problem with my handsome feline, and I have yet to establish a relationship with a vet here in my new home. I have had great experience with cat-only clinics in the past, so I decided to give this place a shot. First and foremost, the building is ADORABLE. It looks like a fairytale cottage, with giant kittens playing with a ball of yarn outside. It is physically painful how cute the space is. The floor tiles are laid out in a quilt pattern of kitty heads. there is a fish tank in the waiting room to engage your feline. My crankster kitty was instantly comfortable with the vet I saw. He is not really fond of many people, but they clicked instantly. She talked to him, felt him up, did some tests, and spoke to me like a real, intelligent person with a whole world of conflicting interests - financial, time commitments, etc. The diagnosis and prognosis were realistic, helpful, and supportive. My cat's having a much better time these days, and I sleep much better at night knowing there's some place I can count on if the cats need medical attention. Prices were very, very fair, which I know, is sometimes important. read more

They worked hard to maintain his health, and when I finally had to let him go, they showed only compassion, while he died in my arms. They had never tried to up sell me on anything. They were going to try and charge us for something extra that we did not want at that time. And when my boyfriend called them to make sure we weren't charged for something we didn't want the owner/doctor said to him "oh your girlfriend sickd you on us to argue" then proceeded to say "well your cat is laying on the operating table I should probably get back to them". I've been taking my cats to Kitty Klinic for at least 30 years. And I would've taken my critique to them directly, but they don't have a "contact us" option on their website. I got a one year old cat from the shelter at the end of August and haven't had a need to take her to the vet, as she was already spade and had her shots. On Saturday, she was in distress and visiting her litter box multiple times, and crying. She'd also messed on the floor. So we took her to the emergency vet hospital. Six hours later, they said she has bladder stones and needs surgery right away. I would've gladly paid the $5000, but the nurse said because my cat is so young to have this problem, she likely has other issues and should be euthanized. I said I'd prefer to get the opinion of my regular vet. I called Kitty Klinic the minute they opened Monday morning and Kaitlyn was very sweet and understanding. She warned me they were busy but she'd talk to the doctor about fitting us in for a consult. At 12:40 p.m. I called to see what was happening, and the doctor had not yet responded. I asked if I should find another vet and was told the doctor would let me know. At 4:00, no phone call. I phoned and got a different person. Kaitlyn was gone for the day. No notes about my situation, no notes from the doctor, nothing. I asked if I should find another vet and was told yes. I asked who they recommend, and was told "I don't know." I ended up calling South Bay vet hospital and can get in first thing in the morning. Got a follow up call within minutes to verify information. Kitty Klinic -- I understand being busy. But I was desperate for a consult on whether I should have the surgery or does my sweet kitty really need to be put down? She's uncomfortable, I'm worried. And you've lost a long-time customer. read more

I am in disbelief how a vet can be so unprofessional and rude to a customer. I set an appt. at 4p on a Friday. The front desk girl called back later and asked if can bring my cat in earlier because they did not want him at 4p on a Friday due to a question I had. I said I could not and they said I could drop him off in the morning, I asked if there was a charge for that. I was told no, that it is a courtesy, so I said yes I will, that's great. I brought him in at 8a and planned on bringing my other cat at the 4p appt. I get a call from the vet at 9a the day of drop off telling me to make another appt. for my other cat that they were either short staffed or she had another booking or something, I could not totally understand, but told me that they will not be able to do the 4p appt- I mentioned that I worked and arranged for time off to make the appointment which was confirmed and I would like to bring him in at 4p as planned. I asked if I had a choice and she gave in. When I got to the vet at 4p it took a very long time, finally got into a room where we waited longer. She was very curt and rude to my daughters who were with me. Treating them like a nuisance and pointing to the bench and saying 'sit' when she entered the room. She may have thought it funny but after she gave my cat his vaccination she put the cap on and pretended to poke the needle at my girls! When I went to pay my bill, they charged $16 for my cat to be dropped off in the morning. I said that I was told it was a courtesy and the girl behind the counter was said she would have to get authorization to get the amount refunded. That turned into 20 minutes of waiting and still no answer. I said I would come back next week and get my refund or have it go on my credit card, no problem. I follow up on Monday morning and still no answer. I requested a call when it was straightened out. The vet calls and she started with 'it has caused a lot of problems with my staff, we will give you your $16 back out of our personal funds." That is how she started, I was so surprised. I said that I was advised it was a courtesy and that your staff should not advise this unless it is. She repeated that it has caused a lot of problems and I said ok, then she hung up on me abruptly. I called back, and when I got her on the phone I said, hello, you hung up on me. She said- you said ok. I said I am very surprised that a professional business would act this way to a customer. She was unhappy that I confronted her on her behavior. She said she would send me my records. ( this was my first visit to them.) My take away from this is that I want to warn others about the owner's shocking way of conducting business, pushing blame and fault on a client who has nothing to do with her internal problems and misrepresentations from her staff. I have never written a review, as everyone has an off day, and give the benefit of the doubt. However, I feel this is her persona to be rude and incredibly inappropriate to her clients. I am shocked, as I have never in 40 years encountered a business much less an owner of a business to conduct things in this manner. read more

I've been a client for several years and have brought several cats, a blue tongue skink (lizard) and my parakeet here for care. Service has always been mediocre, but they have lost my business completely after my most recent visit. Reception has always been borderline aggressive and apathetic. But I've ignored it for the most part because the kitty klinic is one of the few vets in the area to service reptiles, which is why I chose them in the first place. My partner was the one to take in our pets since I work full time in Tacoma, so I didn't how sub-par the service was until now. First of all: don't bother taking your exotics here. When I brought in my lizard they basically looked at him, said he was a healthy weight and had no mites, and that was it. When we asked them about a bump on his tail, they charged us an exorbitant amount of money without quoting us the price so they could lance it. So what was supposed to be a $45 intake visit was almost $150. The final deal breaker: I had a cat that had a swollen lymph node in her throat. We took her through an emergency vet, but it came back and she couldn't eat, even though she would try repeatedly to. I set up an appointment to bring her in. I bring her in, and explain what is going on with the lymph node, and the first thing out of the vets mouth is "Why would you bring me a cat like this on the last appointment before a three day weekend." (Which is when THEY scheduled her for) When I tried to talk to her, she cut me off and continued to berate me, telling me I wasn't a good pet owner, that I wasn't trying hard enough, that I didn't care. All of this after I wiped out my PTO at work, my savings, and opened a credit card to try and get SOMEONE to help my poor cat eat. She'd lost a pound in the course of a month and was in pain, and the vet spent 10 minutes of our visit telling me how terrible a person I was, and how she wasn't going to stay late because I was being irresponsible. It wasn't until I started crying in frustration that she apologized and actually started to look at my cat. I have never been treated this way by any professional. It's ridiculous. There is a difference between being blunt, and being completely out of line. She ignored the information we gave her about a lymph node problem, touching the cat's neck and saying she couldn't feel anything, even though the emergency vet only found it by putting her to sleep and shoving a camera down her throat. Then she said she had a heart murmur, and that that must have been causing her problems. She then told us to force feed the cat with liquid food in a syringe, to "kick start her stomach" into wanting to eat again. We tried to explain that she wanted to eat, she just couldn't, she'd throw up food she ate. So we get the cat home and give her the food. She eats some of it, but not all, so we go to force feed her. After we started doing that she stopped wanting food at all, and started throwing up, got lethargic, and just laid around. She was so stressed she got severely ill, and wouldn't come near me because I was doing this to her. We took her to another vet, who took some blood work and said it was a bacterial infection and gave her antibiotics and pain medication.THAT NIGHT she was feeling better, moving around, purring, eating, and wanting to be held. And during all of this, the Kitty Klinic didn't even bother to fax over her records to the new place even after they asked. Had I continued the treatment that they had prescribed, my cat probably would have died, over something so easy to treat as a bacterial infection. Would rate 0 stars if I could. I don't normally rate businesses, but I want to make sure people know to look out. Seems any time there is a legitimate problem they balk at giving treatment, and only know how to vaccinate. If your animal is actually sick, don't trust them, go to a real vet. AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

We first took our cat to the Kitty Klinic a few months ago after hearing and reading great things about them. It was an exceptionally pleasant experience, which is why this review is 2 stars instead of 1. We then brought her back to be spayed the other day, and the person I talked to originally was very helpful. I checked my cat in, they took her inside and that was that. Then, when I picked her up the next day the lady told me my cat had been aggressive and they were so afraid of being scratched and sent to the ER that they put her in her kennel which had feces in it that got matted all over her fur and body. They said they "don't normally like to return pets dirty" but they wouldn't clean her because of her aggression. While she's not typically aggressive toward people, I can understand their concern if she perhaps was reacting out of nervousness and fear. That was it though, she walked away and I didn't get any after care information. When I got home and took her out of the kennel, her butt, tail/lower back, and paws were wet like she HAD been partially washed, yet she was returned to a dirty kennel and handed off to me. My husband and I were a little irritated at this and confused so he called to find out why she wasn't cleaned and why we weren't given any after care instructions. The lady told him the same thing, and said the receptionist should have given us the information for after care (we never even saw the receptionist) and still did not offer him any help on caring for her post surgery. My husband told her we paid the amount of money they charged expecting quality care from them, and she proceeded to assume we were complaining about the price (which we were fully accepting of, other than we just had our pet operated on and given back to us dirty, smelly, and without any helpful information). She then told my husband the price was so much because she was pregnant when they did the procedure. She was not AT ALL, and had never been near a male cat as she is our only pet and an indoor cat, which he tried to tell her and her response was "oh so it was immaculate conception?" This shocked us severely as I would expect much better customer service than that. My husband got angry at this point and told her she was giving him horrible excuses and telling him false information, which she then said she would have the vet call him. He told her we would like to talk with the vet of course. This same technician then emailed me a that our cat was not pregnant and that she was mixing her up with a different cat. We obviously knew she was wrong, but she didn't even apologize for her rude behavior or for not having the facts straight before basically accusing my husband of lying. She then provided me with lengthy information on the dangers of a cat scratch or bite, and why they did not clean her. She did apologize that there was feces on her, but that they believed it would be more traumatizing to clean her than not. My question was then why did she look partially cleaned but was just put back in a dirty kennel? I would have at least expected them to get the feces out before it ruined the cloth and smeared further over her fur and near the incision area. The end of her email said they would be happy to forward her record to another clinic of our choosing, which felt like a subtle dismissal? Though I'm not sure as I'm still waiting to hear from the vet. Overall I don't think I would go back after the way she spoke to us. Mistakes happen, but their job is to be informative, helpful, resourceful, and professional. This experience lacked all of those things. To be treated the way we were, as concerned paying customers who just got their cat back looking worse than we've ever seen, really disappoints me. I've heard great things about this place, and our first experience lived up to the expectation, but after this I can't bring myself to go back. Makes me sad. read more

Very disappointed with this clinic. My mother has been taking her senior cat to this clinic for regular care. Over the weekend he became very ill with not eating and vomiting some blood. She had called first thing Monday morning and was told they could not see him as they were booked. They gave her the number of an emergency veterinarian. She took him there and $700.00 later was diagnosed with a stomach mass. My mother is a senior on a fixed income and cannot afford this amount. I have worked in the veterinary field for the past 25 years and every place I have worked we always got our critically ill patients in the same day. She was not offered any other options from the Kitty Clinic such as maybe drop off or to come in and wait etc. No empathy for her situation and not concerned for her cat. Maybe they need to evaluate their schedules to allow for same day sick patients. Would definitely not recommend this clinic. read more

I noticed my senior cat was losing weight (an obvious concern), so after a little research, I took her here. I was able to get an appointment the next day. The building is hard to miss. The lobby is inviting and there was no strange smell like other vets. The receptionist was very nice. Dr. Starry was very gentle with our kitty. She took time to provide explanations and predictions on what could be wrong. She suggested doing labs to start. Dr. Starry told us exactly what we would be charged. She didn't try to upsell a flea treatment or additional vaccines. Our kitty was nervous, but otherwise fine (she's very compliant). After the blood draw, we checked out. We were happy to know they accept Apple Pay and Android Pay. I was a little disappointed that they don't take the Care Card, but that's minor. I was concerned that when we got home, our kitty would become aggressive to our other cat (it has happened after every other vet visit), but once she left the carrier, she snuggled with her sister without incident. That is a testament to how clean this clinic is. I figured I'd hear from the doctor in 24-48 hours; I was surprised to get a call at 9 pm from Dr. Starry with our kitty's results. She explained all the options for medicines and treatments. She suggested a cardiology work up since our cat has a heart murmur, but she didn't push it. We talked for about 10 minutes. The next day, we picked up the medicines (which were reasonably priced). We were happy with the service and will be taking our other cat in to this clinic. I love this place. I bring my cats here when I go out of town. I especially like that it's for cats, as mine get very worked up when they hear barking or smell a canine. They seem attentive to the cats. Some of the kitty suites have windows, which I think my cats appreciate since it's like TV to them. read more

I just recently got my cat spayed here. I am a low income family so i got a voucher from the humane society. (which paid for half! it was amazing!) I feel that since i had the voucher they didnt treat me like they would have a full paying client. I have never had a female cat before so i had never had to get one spayed, and i didnt exactly know what to expect. The price i was told they stuck to, which i was thankful for. However, i had shaved her during the summer because i was having a problem with fleas. I got them under control. They told me she had fleas and that was why her hair was thin and put an expensive flea treatment on her without my consent. Charging me an extra $20. But whatever i guess. The weather is changing and she had some dry skin. (so do i!) she told me i needed to feed her better. Blah blah. She stayed the night, which i wasnt expecting, but that was ok. When i went to pick her up the next day they handed me her and practically kicked me out the door. They never suggested getting a cone, they didnt wrap her stitches, they didnt do anything to aide me in caring for my poor kitty. I ended up getting a cone and looking up how to care for her. (which i expected to vet to do) She tried pulling her stitches out and its been a little frustrating. All in all they got the job done but they need to be a bit more friendly and informative. read more

Amazing clinic! The doctors are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I never feel like they push services on me and are very willing to come up with a treatment plan based around my budget. They are also much cheaper than some other vets but, of course, medical care is always expensive anyway. The reason I like them the most is because I feel like I can trust them and that they are honest. I never once felt like I was being 'sold' products or services. When expensive services have been recommended the doctor always told me if it was immediately needed, if it was something that could wait a few months, or if it wasn't really needed but would be helpful to the health of my pet. I've also always been able to get in for an appt in a timely manner. My pet got really sick on a day they were booked but the lady on the phone gave me so many options including offering to give me the names of other vets nearby that were opened! To me, that shows they care more about animals than about money. They would rather get the animal help even if it means losing business. All in all, I would never go anywhere else because no where comes close to the specialized knowledge and in depth care at an affordable price that my furry friends received at the Kitty Klinic!
