I have shipped my car over a dozen times. Maybe once duplicating a transport service. I chose this location because they were local to my outgoing destination ( Houston). Prices were on the lower end side and booked a few weeks prior to shipping my car back to Ohio. I usually pay for higher end companies like Montway etc. I emailed the local manager and told him my concerns and my issues with communication during shipping process. Very friendly but this was the worst communication of any shipping company i have used. Would tell me daily that someone would definitely let.me.know yay or ney if there was a driver. Never got a call. Had to call daily to check if possibly pick up. No but I will definitely have someone call you to let.you know. Crickets. I'm here on a work contract so I'm on a bit of a time crunch and to have to take time out my work day every day during pick up.period. Yep I emailed and left voicemail to please give an update. Nothing. The only saving grace that gives them 3 stars.is the driver they chose. I met him.in Houston. Told him I'm flying back.to Toledo and going on my birthday trip on such n such a date. He had my ride there on memorial day no less. 2 days ahead of projected drop off. He told me to reach out to him personally as he does TX to Chicago frequently and I def will. This was the easiest process to ship my car. I was nervous to give someone my vehicle to ship from Houston to LA. Mark was also quick to respond to emails and answered the phone whenever I called. When they dispatched the driver he was there that same morning. He told me his yard is by LAX and I could pick it up when I land. It made it really easy to grab my car and boom I was driving on the west coast. I would highly recommend Compass and pricing is fair from the 4 companies I spoke with. I had to transport my vehicle from Houston to San Jose. The my offered me a competitive rate and delivered my car promptly. Unfortunately, car pick up and delivery is always complicated but that isn't the company's fault. It was really hectic to figure out what time the driver would arrive to pick up my car and we struggled a little to get it picked up at a good location. Thankfully the driver did drop off my sister in law after she dropped off my car. That was really kind of them! I appreciated that greatly. On the day of my transport my initial driver had an issue, and Mark's team got everything rescheduled quickly. He was so unprofessional and rude that I no longer felt comfortable shipping my car with this company, so I cancelled my order and decided to go with another company. Mark's prices are profoundly higher than every other company, yet his professionalism is astoundingly lower. Very good communication. Was able to answer most of my questions.. Called me and made schedules on time. Unfortunately, my preference was to make sure that I get the car either Saturday or Sunday at Miami so that I can use my car. I've called Saturday/Sunday but there were no response. My car was delivered on Monday afternoon. By those times I had to rely on Lyft. During pick up of the car, I was supposed to get a 2-3 hours window but I got a call mentioning that the driver is already at my house to pick up the car. So I had to rush from work to meet him and had the car placed on the carrier. Would have been 5 star if it was delivered on time. read more

I had never transported a vehicle before so I had no choice but to do some research. The deeper I dug into the business the more I realized that I needed to be ultra careful as scams abound ranging from excessive charges, hidden fees, poor customer service, you name it....loads of horror stories. It was harder to distinguish good from bad because there was really no one true provider that didn't have at least a few bad reviews. So first thing I decided was to go with someone local with a higher than average rating on Yelp. I would say that the other review sites are less legitimate but I can't honestly say for sure. All I know is that Yelp is pretty representative. Anyhow, called up Compass Transport and although their price wasn't the cheapest it was by far not the most expensive. Called them up and spoke with Mark. I wasn't in a time crunch but was looking to transport my vehicle as soon as possible. He stated that he would more than likely be able to get my car picked up within 2 to 3 days. Ended up taking a chance and put my order in that afternoon and surprisingly, he was able to get my car picked up that evening of the same day (Monday)! The guys that picked up my car were friendly and thorough on their check up prior to loading up the car. I received a bill of lading complete with a diagram showing the condition of the car for witness purposes in an email shortly after they left. There was no formal way of tracking other than contacting the driver so that's what I did and he was very responsive. Vehicle arrived on Thursday morning less than 3 days later....Texas to Virginia without a hitch. No issues whatsoever. I will point out that they are a broker so they don't actually own and operate the transportation vehicles but they obviously make sure they work with only reputable transporters. That, or I just had extremely good luck. To sum it all up, great communication throughout and fast shipping at a reasonable cost relative to the competition! read more

6/2/2017: Placing my order to ship my car from Houston to the Bay Area in California went smoothly! Unlike many other companies that I reached out to for quotes, they were responsive in getting back to me via email and on the phone. Mark was very patient in answering and clarifying my questions. I was referred to Compass by a work colleague. Not only did I appreciate his responsiveness and professionalism, but the quoted price was very fair and reasonable. Pick up was good. The driver, Roman, called me the day of and gave me a window; I said I really preferred earlier in the window, and he made it work! He was friendly and efficient; he did the walk around and took photos with his phone (I did as well), and told me that he expected my car to arrive in 4 days, which is amazing. My credit card was not billed until the pick up took place! Will update when I get my car back! UPDATED: I got my car back without any issues whatsoever. Roman delivered the car so quickly - 5 days! - and the handoff went so smoothly and efficiently. Roman waited patiently while I checked the car over and didn't rush me at all. He delivered within the time frame he told me, and he also gave me a days notice of when he would be dropping off my car. My car is dustier from its journey but I am so happy it is here safe and sound. Would definitely work with Compass again, and I'll be recommending to my colleagues/friends making moves as well! read more

I had a very good experience with Compass Transport. I had been working with another transport service for my move from NY to Houston, but I found them to be unreliable and unhelpful, and I turned to Mark Howard. As soon as I called, he was in touch with me via email and was working on getting us picked up and dropped off the dates we needed. He was also extremely responsive, which the other vendor was not, and I really appreciated it. At one point I was a little nervous, as we didn't have a driver assigned to us the day or two before the pick-up, but Mark got us a driver who came and loaded up our cars, and he got them to us on the earlier side of the dates we arranged. The cars were in the same condition we left them in, and I was thrilled that they arrived in good shape and on time. We transacted with Compass to ship our daughter's recently purchased BMW from Houston to Philadelphia in September. The auto transport carrier retained by Compass was United Auto Transport located in Philadelphia. On the delivery date, the driver for United was from Philadelphia and at the last moment tried to drop off the vehicle for delivery somewhere off the interstate in Delaware blaming it on that they could not deliver to the agreed upon drop off address in Philadelphia. We were not from the area and disagreed to the interstate drop off and Compass took the vehicle to their terminal in Philadelphia. When the vehicle was picked up and driven from the terminal yard, it was discovered that the vehicle had fresh undercarriage suspension damage that occurred during United's care, custody and control of the vehicle during their transport and the loading or unloading of the vehicle. This damage was immediately reported to United and United immediately denied any responsibility. We contacted Mark at Compass to advise of the issue and provided the photos and repair costs. Several calls were had with Mark to explain our dissatisfaction and the many follow-up calls and emails to discuss a resolution to Compass have yet to be responded to as of this date. As a consumer, we are extremely disappointed in this business transaction as it cost us $1200 dollars to have the damage repaired that was caused by United in addition to the shipping costs. Additionally, the suspension damage could have caused a major accident if the car was not driven at a slow rate of speed from the terminal. We highly recommend that the claims history and customer service record of the auto transport carrier and the broker is requested and reviewed prior to making any final commitments. Once the damage is done, no one will take responsibility or accountability. read more

Best experience ever with a trucking company. I needed a flatbed wrecker dodge 5500 brought from lancaster Massachusetts to deer park tx. I tried using uship and they were okay on bids but mostly people wanted to drive back. I called compass transport and he said he would send me a email with a quote. 1 hour later I had my quote that I couldn't pass up. They kept me in the loop when the truck was being picked up and on the road. Also I received my truck 1 day earlier than supposed to which was great. Unbelievable! So far, that's the only word that I can think of to describe my experience using Compass Transport to haul my 1982 Corvette to its new owner in Memphis, TN. After talking with several transporters in Houston, I decided to use Compass because of the knowledgeable and direct answers from Mark Howard. The timeline is as follows; Tuesday Aug 31, 2016, 9:30 am Contracted with Compass Transport; 11 am Mark called and said a driver has been dispatched and will call me. I received emails from Mark detailing pickup info. Wednesday June 1, transporter arrives and loads the Corvette at 5pm. Thursday June 2, transporter arrives in Memphis at 6 pm to off load the Corvette to the new owner. The new owner is happy, I'm happy. Unbelievable, that events could go so smoothly, so quickly and be hassle free. read more

Buyer beware! I spent over a month researching a reputable company to broker transport for my brand new vechicle, and after much stress and after being bombarded with endless solicitation calls and texts by a dreadful "broker board" I decided to go with Mark H of Compass Auto transport LLC . He was referred by my Household mover. I explained to Mark how important that my brand new car that was being shipped from one coast to another be handled very carefully ( my sister had two of her cars ruined by a different broker, so I needed to be extra careful in who I selected to handle the shipping of my, car. I was specific that I wanted a "lift gate " and it was to be put on "enclosed carrier" and was charged a premium to have the peace of mind that my car would avoid rock chips, hail etc. Well after having to pay IN FULL 5 days in advance, I was told the day before pick up that the truck WOULD NOT have a lift gate! To make a long story short the driver showed up with a truck from the 40's that was basically a open transport truck with tie down side panels and big bubble back , which made my car exposed to the ground/ street! He had some very old vans rusted out and a very old sports car that ended up leaking motor oil all over the entire brand new car with silver paint! The driver showed up quickly but ruined my car , tried to get me to sign the "bill of lading" before he had even driven it off the truck ( Big red flag!) I paid for an enclosed truck so my car should been delivered to me clean as it was put on the truck. I refused to sign anything until I saw my car. Bottom line it was a Sunday so I could not meet him at my car dealership, I was female alone with driver with no one around in a parking lot of a hotel with this driver so when I pointed out to him the sticky substance all over my entire car and the grease on my leather seat, he denied there was anything wrong , I told him I wanted to note the damage on the bill of lading but he refused and would not let me have the key to my car until I signed the "bill of lading" Without noting any damage noted" !! I could not get a hold of Mark ( I had texted him earlier letting him know that the driver had sent me a text with a ETA and he wrote back saying he might not be available.. Bottom line is I had to take my car to the dealership to get all the excessive motor oil / grease off my car and also have them inspect for any other damage to the car underneath were I could not view( it was dusk almost dark when he arrived! After finally reaching Mark he got mad at me for not noting the damage while the driver was there and I also took many before and after pictures of my car I took including the odometer reading before my car was shipped and the driver also put miles on my car!!! Mark argued with me about what happened then put the driver on a three way call and they both ganged up on me! Bottom line is , Mark refused to even pay for my car to be fixed and feels no remorse for charging me such a high rate with no lift gate! I will not know immediately what the permanent damage to my paint ( silver) will be! I did not feel safe arguing with the driver to note damage ,I was afraid he would not give me my keys! Be extra careful who you choose to broker your Transport! If the driver arrives and you do not feel comfortable in trusting him to Transport your car then walk away and reschedule !!!! Also never pay total amount up front , most only charge a small fuel deposit of around $150.00 in case you cancel after the truck is already in transit to you ! I thought Mark would have my back and that definitely was not the case! Mark if you try to have this removed , I will write another review! Very disappointed ! read more
