I was extremely impressed with the new-to-me online renewal and appointment options. I had let my recommendation lapse after consistently renewing with Compassionate Health Options for over a decade now, because I am busy and passively anticipating legalization, and also because I just don't find as much relief from medical marijuana as I once did when I was younger. The email invite and online appointment option, combined with the coupon code, made it "irresistible" to renew because it was so easy, and I have a lot of respect for the supportive relationship I've developed with Dr. Hanya Barth over the years. Even though my appointments with her are efficient, they are never rote or detached. In other words, Dr. Barth really cares, really gets to know her patient as a person, and makes thoughtful, helpful, genuine, and informed recommendations every time. She clearly has a thirst for knowledge, as well as a gift for caregiving. She represents exceptionally well for the medical community and the marijuana community alike. I contacted Compassionate Health Options via the website and set up my appointment and paid onlilne. All seemed to go smoothly as far as setting up the appointment. The time for the appointment came and Dr. Barth was 20 minutes late to the video conference. As soon as we introduced each of ourselves, her phone rang and she had to schedule someone for an appointment during our appointment! I know they have an answering machine because I've used it, so why did she have to take a call during a screening? Very rude business tactics. She accepted my renewal and told me that it would be 10 min and I would have the recommendation in my e-mail. This was 9 days ago and I have called multiple times to get my recommendation via email and left messages with no response. I have even emailed the contact link without luck. This doctor and her company will take your money, but good luck getting what you paid for! read more

This was to be a simple renewal with Dr. HANYA Barth. The appointment went smooth as I had just paid my renewal fee. It was after this the complete transaction took a nose dive. I could not open the file sent to me with my recommendation enclosed. Website not found. Then I waited and waited for my hard copy in the mail, am still waiting since June 23 2020. Today I filed a dispute to the transaction and got my money back. During the time I waited i had four email conversations with barth. She is not truthful, she taunts you to get you to call her but which number? There is no clear transaction with this woman, it is all smoke and mirrors. What are you hiding from dr barth? Or are you hitting the pills again? You need to retire. read more

The doctor was great, my appointment over Zoom was easy and effortless. I would have given them a 5 star review if not for this next part... When I went to the dispensary the Sunday after my appointment and clicked on the link in my email that has my recommendation it goes to a 404 page. Couldn't get ahold of anyone there when I called to see if someone could verify me over the phone. Basically sat in the waiting room at Magnolia and missed the entire secession of the cannabis business classes practices which I drove 45 minutes over for. So again, would have given 5 stars if not for the email confirmation link not working and screwing up my day in a major way. read more

Hanya Barth in San Francisco gets 1 Star for stealing my money and wasting my time. She got me twice now for a couple hundred bucks. They take your money then only offer a 1-3 month recommendation and tell you to come back. I have been a cardholder for over 8 years now and haven't had any problems elsewhere. I made an appointment and despite arriving on time they informed me about 3 patients in front of me, estimated at 45min-1hr wait. This is ludicrous and disrespectful of their patients time. The front-desk girl could have said in the very beginning: "I know you have an appointment, but we won't be able to see you right away". I've never been to a cannabis clinic, it's a new thing for me. I was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis earlier this year, and I haven't had a great response to my medication. I was also dismayed that my doctors thought throwing hardcore painkillers at me was a solution (I'm tiny, and the dose of Percocet I was given would have felled a bull elephant.) So I did some research and, after a lot of hemming and hawing, worked up the nerve to go to a clinic and get my recommendation. This place was a block away from where I work, so it was the obvious choice. I wasn't disappointed! Everyone was entirely friendly, didn't make me feel like an idiot for being a noob to medical marijuana, and I saw a real MD. Dr Rybold was kind and soft-spoken, listened to what I was saying and gave me advice on what kinds of things to look into, weed-wise (in fact, he steered me away from the psychotropic stuff so I can function while working). I felt like I was taken seriously, and in less than 20 minutes I had my letter and my card. Yes, it's expensive. $110 for the letter and card for a year is probably steep for a lot of people, including me. But it was well worth it for the convenience of the location and the kindness of the people involved. Not once was I treated like a drug-seeking pothead - which is how I am often treated at *actual hospitals*. So, yay this place. A great clinic for noobs. :-) read more

I've been coming here for the past 4 years to get my prescription. Last 2 years have been the best, as the doc has changed and I like her the most. I also really like the receptionist chick, she's really down to earth and I like her style. $80 for renewals + $20 for the ID card. Dr. Hanya Barth and the whole clinic gets a thumbs up from me (this is the SF clinic). Sure the price is high for the first evaluation, but so are all doctor's office visits, but because most with insurance pay less than a $25 co-pay they aren't aware of what health care really costs. Dr. Barth on both of my visits was very clear on what I needed to do for my own health. She negotiated with me to get me to commit to getting back to the gym and working on weight loss and stress relief. How many primary care physicians take the time - or have the time - for this type of visit? I applaud her for spending time to counsel patients on health improvements rather than simply signing scrip for medical cannabis. I was a first time patient and enjoyed my experience to the fullest. My original appointment was scheduled for Noon on a Saturday but I was told by phone that if I came in early, I would be seen before that time. I show up to a very pleasant office at 10:30am and immediately am greeted by the front office team. Once my paperwork was filled out, I was called in to meet with Dr. Barth within 30 minutes. Mind you, this is an hour earlier than my appointment. Dr. Bart was incredibly helpful with suggestions on how to improve my posture, good reads to help anxiety and ways to improve my overall health. Dr. Barth takes her position very seriously and I could sense her passion for good health simply by her interaction with me. Cost for first timer was $105 including the ID card you get once your check up is completed. Front office team was great, the Doctor was great and the overall experience was as good as a Dr. Apt could possibly go. read more

I visited the San Francisco location, and I found the people friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I happened to call on a Wednesday when no doctor was there, but I was able to make an appointment for the next day. There's three pages of questions to answer, but of course they have to ask all those questions to make sure that everyone's following the law. That's a lot of what you're paying for, the scrupulous following of the law. That, plus pleasant and helpful people, which CHC totally has. They'll point you in the right direction if it's your first recommendation, like me, and I'm sure they can helpfully advise experienced folks as well. The only reason I don't give 'em five stars is that my recommendation is still provisional while they check some medical records. Assuming the rest of the transaction is as great as what's happened so far, I'll bump it to five stars. UPDATE: The people at Compassionate Health are great. I went on a Friday a little after 4pm. It was a walk in and they were able to see me even though they closed at 5. They had some comfy couches, tea and water. They match competitors prices so bring a coupon. You can actually save a good amount. What I took away from this experience is that eating right and exercising more often is very very important. I don't understand some of the bad review that is being written about this clinic. Are we talking about the same clinic here? I thought the doctor are just great! My doctor, Dr. Weiss, I thought he was very knowledgeable in what he is talking about, he explained to me all my options very well and clearly. The office visit cost $110 with a Medical Cannabis ID card made same day at the clinic. The staffs are friendly and helpful, metered parking in the front and I was seen at 2:45pm on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. So what are these people complaining about? I think they are only satisfied if the office visit is free. P.S. don't forget to bring all medical records, list of your prescription medications, or medical history. I had been to only Priceless Evaluations in the past several years. The long wait time at Priceless Evaluations and their outdated website did not allow me to make an appointment online. So I renewed my Medical Cannabis ID card at the SOMA Compassionate Health Options clinic. CHO's website was up to date and allowed me to reserve an appointment with Dr. Barth. After making the appointment, I received a reminder phone call for my upcoming appointment, just like UCSF's automated system. Because I'm a tenacious person, and I didn't hear from them, I was able to speak to a person today who arranged for me to renew my license online. Done for a year. My first time getting evaluated and this place was awesome. Its a nice little clinic with awesome friendly and informative staff. I felt very welcome and comfortable being there and will probably go back there for my renewal. Although the price wasn't the cheapest, I think the fact that the overall experience was just really positive made it feel more worth it to pay what i did. The wait wasn't long at all and it wasn't really busy. If you're looking for great quality staff, a friendly and relaxed environment and don't mind putting down a little more money, then come here! Although I've had good experiences in getting my recommendation (and getting it renewed once, just recently), the prices are absurd and I wish I had done more research before following through. That being said, everyone is pretty nice and I can't complain-- but just remember, this is not a "real" doctor's office, so don't expect the same level of professionalism you would in normal healthcare facilities. I contacted this office and dealt with Ezra Barth Rogers. I spoke with him total of 2 times but had to call too many times to count leaving endless messages (he doesn't take voice mails).The reason I had to deal with the San Fran (and the San Jose and the Santa Cruz) office is because I was unable to get through to Stephen Waltcher, M.D.. Ca. Lic.. #G8841. I explained to Ezra that we went to the San Jose office first and my son got a recommendation by Stephen Waltcher, M.D.. Ca. Lic.. #G88413. It was then suppose to be reviewed when he received the medical papers from his real Dr.,again by Stephen Waltcher MD but he never reviewed it. (i was told that was my fault because we were unable to get through to Waltcher) After explaining all this to Ezra. Ezra said that he would get the corrected recommendation from Waltcher MD. for me. Yeah! Guess what ? Dates are wrong and of course the doctor lied on the paper work making my son look bad. He signed it stating he saw my son after he got the ticket (Feb 4 2011) rather then the truth which was 6/26/2010. I was told that is because the doctor waited until 2/4/2011 to look at my sons medical records from 6/2010. I figured I better call Ezra and talk to him about the mistake. HELL pure HELL. Spoke to Ezra Barth 'Rogers, he stated that they can't do anything about it since I put a 1 star on yelp about this terrible company. He also said it is illegal for the MD to put the true date on the paper work because it would be the same as back dating a prescription.Wrong! DO NOT GO TO THIS place all they care about is money and they can careless if you get in trouble with the law or not. They rather print out illegal forms then work with their Patients. Ezra even said that we are lucky it is only an infraction and we should be happy. SERIOUS!!!???? Too bad they have very poor custom service and do not take their clients seriously nor do they care. You have to call San Fran everyday until they are sick of your calls to get through for help in these serious matters. To them it is no biggy. Ezra Barth 'Rogers told me point blank today that we are nothing and this isn't serious in the overall scheme of things. 1. She is more expensive than other places. 2. I steer clear of the 'fly by night' docs, which this is definitely not, however there are other, cheaper legitimate doctors in the city. 3. I suffer from depression and sport-induced lower back pains and she would not recommend marijuana for me. She did however pocket the $120 dollars and send me out the door. She requires patient records and will only give you a 3 month rec without it. Do you really want to come back in 90 days when other places give you a full year? I'd hope not.
