I was running a ton of errands in Encinitas one day and I thought while I was in the area I would drop in to have my car smog checked. Lou was at the front desk and the place was really busy. I asked him about getting my car smogged and he said that it was really booked tight but if I wanted to hang out he would try to fit me in or I could make an appointment for an alternate day. I said that I would wait for a bit and sat down in the lobby which, is well equipped for waiting with a tv, complimentary coffee, water and snacks. I was waiting for about 5 minutes when Lou came and found me in the waiting area and said after speaking with the smog tech it looked like it would be a fairly long wait for me. He then suggested that if I had other things to do in the area I could do that and call him in an hour and he would let me know how it looked. I sincerely appreciated Lou's effort especially since I looked like a leisure time mom in her requisite yoga pants with plenty of time to kill...he valued my time as if I was an important executive by offering me this option. At his suggestion, I went about my errands and called Lou in an hour and he said he would be able to fit me in in 10 minutes if I wanted come back. True to his word, I got back to Complete Car Care and was in and out of there in less than a half hour. Everyone I came into contact with here at CCC was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. If I would have had to wait...it wouldn't have been an awful place to do so but it was nice that I was able to accomplish so much in one day without wasting time sitting around. Had another previous Oil change done months ago hat was done perfectly well & recently had a simple 110k mile tuneup ontop of a new battery & oil change that again was & is flawless. When i came to lou years ago and was straight forward & honest about how i feel about the work done to my car, & the financial situations id been put in with having the car barely for a year & i can tell since especially with the intentive listening & understanding the first time that my vehicle has had nothing but the best care. The preventitive maintenence & proper follow up appointments have allowed me to turn a mediocore car into a finely tuned machine. Cant thank Lou & the team enough for ALWAYS personally making sure my car is perfect for me. No other place i'd rather go or spend my money. & in my genuine opinion most of the negative reviews stem from alot of miscommunication or better lack of, which is something you cant have when you walk into any shop & most the time if not half the time you dont know whats wrong with the car. I came to know Roger, the sevice manager at the encinitas store when he managed the san marcos store where I live. I now send all four of my vehicles to him even though he is half an hour away from my home because of his honesty, professionallism and knowledge. I owned a automotive repaire shop in anaheim that serviced vehicles and was licensed to smog and repair engines and transmissions. I have yet to come accross a service manger like roger who is willing to put the effort in taking care of his customers vehicles like Roger has done so for mine. Best place to take your car for anything! I recently stopped here for an oil change. I told the manager that I only had 45 minutes at most to get this done before I had to pick my kids up from school. He assigned 2 techs to my car and literally had the oil change, along with tire rotation, done in 15 minutes. I despise getting my oil changed usually and now that I found this place, I won't have to dread it any longer. Awesome customer service, great prices and honest workers. I brought my FJ Cruiser in for an alignment to take advantage of the coupon I got in the mail. Let's just say things got a little complicated from there. It turns out my truck had multiple problems (tires were cupping; wheels needed balancing; rotors had hot spots, etc.) I just appreciated the approach these guys (and Lou, in particular) took with advising me of the problems, and working patiently yet quickly with me to get everything solved. Suffice it to say, I was there longer than I wanted to be on a Saturday morning. They have definitely made a loyal customer out of me. My experience with Evan and the entire staff was positive from the first time I talked to them to the moment I drove away. They helped me work through some issues getting my 1999 Toyota Tacoma to pass smog and were completely informative , considerate ,caring, helpful and competent. They even called a couple days after my first visit to touch base on my experience and to ask that everything was going ok with my vehicle. It was a really nice personal touch that I appreciated. We broke down on vacation. We live about 8hr away and this was the closest place that was opened on the weekend we were here. Had glowing reviews so I felt comfortable. I knew what needed to be done was an expensive fix but I am mainly commenting on the patience factor for which this establishment had ZERO. Notified me of a head gasket problem and said it would take 5 days. Cool no rush I'm 8 hours away with a busy work schedule. It took 2 weeks. No big deal. Then the calls start I'm being super patient and literally every time they called (like 5times) they asked when I was picking up the car. It wasn't even done yet and they were already concerned with how soon i could get it. I told them upon drop off how far I was and that we had broken down on vacation. My first day off (a couple of days after the car was complete) I left as soon as I could and called so they would expect me (had to wait for BF to get off work to drive the car back) got to the shop at about 3pm they had kept calling me because they wanted to close the shop down early. Like dude I can't get there any faster literally. I would have driven 8 hours for nothing. I just felt rushed and like they just wanted my money and that was it. The overall attitude was very unfriendly and unapologetic. I was expected to be super patient and they wanted to rush me at their convenience. Pretty sure he installed spark plugs that I didn't really need either since I had just payed to replaced them days earlier... oh well luckily I'll never deal with them again. TO TOP IT OFF someone tried to leave compliment on this review stating I was not a customer. I drive an old 4Runner which has required quite a bit of maintenance over the past two years. I trusted the yelp reviews but had a terrible experience. First, it's expensive- $180 just for the diagnostic; $1300 for a fuel pump when the part cost $120 and it takes about an hour to put in. When I asked about this, the manager went on and on about how he has to pay his employees well and that they put warranty on the part (standard practice most places). Second, when I told them I was coming to pick up my truck I arrived at literally 5:03 and they had closed, KNOWING I was on the way as fast as I could after work. When picked up the truck on the next day, I paid and signed the paperwork. At the bottom of the page were the words "unsafe to drive." They weren't going to say anything until I brought it up. Their response, "it felt shakey to the mechanic but they are used to driving nicer cars." Rude, right? There's more, they said "Don't worry about it, we just had to put that down for legal reasons." WHAT? I was fuming. I hope this review was helpful, I wish it was there when I was looking for a place to tow my truck. read more

My car was making a strange noise on Monday when I went to work. My husband called and made an appointment for the next day. I was able to start my care after work (still making a strange noise) and made it to my son's daycare to pick him up, but unfortunately my care wouldn't start to leave daycare. My husband was able to jump my car but it was flashing the battery sign and luckily Encinitas Complete Care Care is only 1-2 miles away from my son's daycare so we drove my car straight there. We arrived a couple of minutes after 5pm (they close at 5pm) and as their employees were leaving for the day they were nice enough to stop and answer a few questions for me as I was dropping my car off. They have early drop off available so I left my key in the box for drop off. My husband called the next morning to check on the damage. It was $500 to replace my alternator and they had my car up and running that afternoon. They do try to up-sell by asking if you want parts replaced that really don't HAVE to be replaced, but this seems pretty standard from car places that are trying to make a dime. These guys are what you hope to find in a repair shop. Honest and very knowledgeable. I had a Mazda3 with a check engine light that the big box repair shop down the street had me $1500 in with no progress. These guys identified and fixed the problem the first time. Had a Mazda CX-9 with a rattle noise. They identified it as something harmless in the exhaust and didn't push me to make a $1400 repair I didn't absolutely need. I've worked in this industry and am as jaded as anyone. This is a shop that wants to build long term customer relationships through hard work, trust and honesty. Can't ask for more. I thought CCC only did smog service but when I heard other customers talking about other services I inquired about new wheels because my chrome wheels were corroding and leaking air. It turns out they do any type of service your car might need (duh! COMPLETE Car Care!). But they don't stock things like wheels and tires there, so they tell you where you can find those parts at the best prices. I ended up ordering my wheels online while I was waiting for my car to be smogged and had the wheels shipped directly to CCC. Due to their referral I ended up paying a fraction of the cost of what I had been seeing elsewhere. My front tires were good but I needed rear tires so Lou at CCC called several places around town and arranged for his staff to pick up two rear tires nearby, and again I paid a fraction of what I had paid in the past for tires. Turned out the company I bought the wheels from sent the wrong size initially but Lou stayed right on top of things throughout the entire process to return the wrong size, get the right size in stock, make sure I was credited properly, and my new wheels were installed and aligned. The owner knows how to hire well because every part of my experience was above board professional... from the front office staff wearing shirts and ties, to following through on their promises. They also have wifi, coffee, and a ride to work if you need it. Nice to finally find a reliable mechanic who isn't out to rip you off just because you don't know as much about cars as they do. AAA. Towed me to this shop a couple of days ago and Evan told me I needed a radiator and upper and lower hoses and a thermostat. to stop the overheating. And then he went on about telling me I need front struts and rear shocks and an alignment. So I asked him how much for the coolant leak and he said $$$$$. So I told him I didn't want to do it and he change his response right away he said that I could get by with a thermostat and radiator for right now, but I should not drive it. So after he scared me I got it towed to another shop and they pressured checked it in front of me and they said there was no leaks. They said if it overheated then I should replace the thermostat to start with. So they replaced the thermostat and my car is running fine. I Think all there 5 star reviews are the people that worked there. This place sucks. They tried to charge me $1200. for a $140 fix. Thanks for wasting my time read more

Over the phone I scheduled the first appointment of the day, 8am and was told it would take 30 minutes. The morning of the appointment I brought my car in on time and was told the smog check machine needed to be calibrated and would take just a few minutes before they would start the smog on my car. By 8:45am I ask when the car will be done and they said it is still being tested. I looked in the parking lot and asked why my car is still in the lot? They got cars mixed up and put some other car on the smog machine. I had to leave because who knows how much longer I would be waiting. Morning was a waste. read more

BEWARE! of the fuel cap trap! My car passed the smog test! Hooray! But wait, the "mechanic" took it upon himself to "inspect" the fuel cap and declared to see tiny cracks in the gasket and stated he had the authority to fail my car that had just passed the smog test unless I agreed to purchase a $19.95 gas cap from Complete Car Care (you can buy the same gas cap from Pep Boys for $4.00). I looked at my gas cap and couldn't see any cracks but the mechanic persisted in stating the cracks were there and he could/would fail my car's smog inspection unless I purchased his $19.95 fuel. Guess where I was; OVER A BARREL! If I don't buy the fuel cap I pay $30.00 for a failed smog test. read more

What a great place!! A part in my cars clutch broke and my car became un-drivable. I had to work the next day too so it was very inconvenient. I towed it over and they treated me great! Said to leave the car outside and give them an hour or two to diagnose the issue. Within an hour they called back to tell me that it was a small little part that broke and that it would be easy and cheep to fix. I gave them the go-ahead to fix it and an oil change and within 2-2.5 hours my car was ready!! They are truly different because they give you options and recommendations that are fair and not pushy. If I went to pep boys or another place they would have said my entire clutch was broken and needed to be replaced when it was a simple little problem. (Which has happened before at other locations.) Another great note is that they have a mechanic in their shop that has been in the industry for 30 + years! That professionalism and expertize is hard to find today. Stay away. Stay far away from this business. These guys are pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Not sure how they got so many good reviews. If you've ever been to a really qualified mechanic you'll know at a glance these guys are not. I asked for a full synthetic oil change on my 07 Lexus RX350. They quoted me $89., which I thought was high but I was desperate so went for it. Asked what brand oil they used they said Shell and what kind of filter they said "just a standard filter. They're all the same". Then they realized my car took 6 qts oil and bumped the price to $100. I asked if they would discount price if I skipped their 25 point inspection. The receptionist said yes. When they presented me with the bill for the full $100 one of the mechanics explained inspection is free w/oil change. No discount if you skip it. They spent 15 mins on my car, used avg quality oil, below avg filter and charged me $100. I will never ever ever be back. This place sucks!! read more
