My car was leaking coolant, and they convinced me to complete $2700 worth of work. Come to find out if I had taken it to the dealership at least half of that was covered under a recent recall. When I called to ask about it, they said they already completed the work and to call GM directly for a refund. GM laughed at the idea that they would give a refund once the work was completed. Now I am out over $1000. Go to your dealership even if it costs a little more, at least they know what they are doing. read more

Minus one star. Never trust a place with all five stars and one star. This is not a "family" owned company. It is a Corporation, Hazar Inc., with the CEO living in Alpine. They will not even go to Mediation before a lawsuit is filed. They are not a member of the Better Business Bureau, and are not even licensed in the City of Encinitas. They have been investigated by the California Bureau of Auto Repair and then those reports just sit in files in Sacramento. As for customer service--when I tried unsuccessfully to get mechanic's notes to find out what they did to my car to validate any "warranty" they refused. A direct quote from Lou: "You have your car and we have our money. Go ahead and sue. You will never win". We will see about that. And remember, Andy, the best defense to Slander is the truth. COMPLETE CAR CARE - IS A COMPLETE SHAM!.... We have recently moved to CA and were looking for a trusted provider for Auto Care. We were lied too and would have been overcharged if we had gone through with brake repairs at Complete Car Care. To explain - My wife had been given an earlier quote from Complete Car Care for replacement of front brakes of $350. About a week later, I went in to make an appointment and was told a cost estimate for brake pad replacement could not be given until the breaks could be inspected. This seemed reasonable, so made the appointment - but checked in with my trusted mechanic in Oregon who said in Oregon break disc replacement would run ~ $150 and with rotor repair ~ $250. He added, that in CA with taxes and higher cost-of-living the expected the replacement cost would be higher - possibly $300. From Complete Care, after inspection, I was told front brakes were near 2 mm and back brakes at 3 mm and both needed replacement. Both front/back brake pads needed replacement plus additional repairs. Total cost of repairs would be $907. I passed on repairs and took the vehicle to another local shop for inspection and possible repairs. The inspection showed front breaks needed replacement and the back brakes had 80% of their life left and were not close to needing replacement. No repairs needed other than front brake pad replacement and recommended bleeding/replacement of brake fluid. Total cost of repairs $297. My experience with Complete Car Care.......... Lou, Emily, and the team know their facts about any type of car, pin-point the problem, fix it within a reasonable time period, and execute a remarkable job. My car needed a new axel, the rotors changed, and an oil change. They are able to order the parts and implement the services needed same-day, within a couple of hours. While the car work is being preformed, they have a waiting room with cookies, coffee, water, a TV, and magazines, or they'll offer to give you a ride where you need to be! My 2003 F150 had its starter die the other night after it was taken out to go to the H&M at the premium outlets area near Jimbo's, it was about 8pm by the time I got to it. We tried replacing the solenoid on it in the hopes that it would be a quick fix but no avail! We called a towing company (check my other reviews, Leucadia Towing is AWESOME!!!) to move it and had it brought to Complete Car Care in Encinitas and left a note on the truck explaining the situation. The next morning I went there and explained it was probably the starter (it had the dreaded single "THWOCK" you get when turning the key). After talking to them there I was quoted a diagnostic for finding the problem and I thought it was quite high; Iw as going to come back later after getting some other quotes on the diagnostic and work. Now, I'm one who believes in quality work and you pay for it but I was a little worried about this. Fast forward to today! I talk with Lou (WHO IS AMAZING) and he hears what I'm saying and we work out a VERY fair price. I picked up the truck today and it back running better than ever and I know I got expert work. This place is really nice and is a family run business who will look out for you and listen to you. I wholly recommend it and even though I have a fairly simple vehicle to work on I saw many high end foreign cars being worked on there. They know their stuff! Lou is an amazing employee but also an amazing human because he heard my plea and understood where I was coming from instead of tossing me to the wind like so many other places I'm sure would have done. The waiting room is comfortable and there is a seating area outside as well. My car passed. The shop is almost across the street from AAA so I was able to get my tags in less than an hour. I had my full car maintenance service and oil change at Hoehn Honda. I was told that my battery cable is corroded. Although battery is still good, it may result in my car not starting. Gave me an estimate of about $600 for labor and replacing cables. I said "No, thank you". Brought it to Complete Car Care and the man in the front lobby (I don't even know his name, Lou?) opened the hood of my car to look at the corrosion. He, then left and came back with a jug of water and poured it onto the corrosion until it was all cleared. For free! He said that corrosion takes time to build up. My battery is still good, so make sure to watch it for now. I have taken my car to this place only once, for a smog check certification. Any place with a checkin offer is a place after my heart!! I came in needing to get my car smog at a star certified location and luckily they had just got their star certification. With their checkin offer of 29.95 for a smog check and the smog certification I'm paying $38 flat out the door. The other place I had and gone to look at was going to charge me $40 so granted it's just a few bucks less but hey, a few dollars saved is a few dollars earned. Samantha is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met! Mage has great customer service skills and is great at handling the customers that come into the shop!! I have found a new place for my smog checks and will recommend them to everyone!! I stopped by and Lou was very funny and was very clear about how many cars were in front of me and what my expectations should be for timing purposes. I went ahead and asked for an oil change while they were looking at 3 concerns I had with my car. When I got a call that my car had been looked at and they were ready to show me, CJ the mechanic was super helpful and super informative about the problem areas in my car. They were very clear in letting me know what they believed the problem to be and were very clear about timeframes that they thought I should address these problems. Never did I think I could have such a positive experience while getting a smog test. I had a 8 am appointment, but it was totally worth waking up early for. Samantha and Evan were some of the most considerate employees I've encountered. My smog check was done in less than 20 minutes.... But I was almost reluctant to leave my cushy chair, where I was enjoying some TV and lots of natural sunlight in the presence of some beautiful potted plants. I was having some trouble with starting my old, 1996 Toyota Previa and wanted to bring it in to have them check out the battery terminal connection based on having a good reputation from smogging my mom's car. Complete Car Care lived surpassed expectations for an auto shop! Not only was I able to get an appointment the same day I called, but I ended up having to cancel because I couldn't jump the car. They said no worries and to bring it in whenever and offered their shuttle services home free of charge. I was able to bring in the car today- was able to make an appointment 30 minutes before! There was no wait upon my arrival, I was immediately helped, and they tightened the terminal connection free of charge! These guys saved me a heck of a lot of trouble, were extremely professional, helpful, and attentive. I will definitely bring my car back if I have any troubles in the future. My car failed its NO smog test with 1338 over a max of 459 at 15mph and 830 over a max of 746 at 25mph. Five minutes later the car passed easily (as it has for 20 years now) on NO testing 30 and 94, respectively. My car was run for 45 minutes on the testing equipment to produce these false results to DMV. I was encouraged to get a new catalytic converter from them, not my mechanic, who would not understand these numbers. I paid $56.75 to thieves. read more

I've been taking my car here off and on for a few years now for oil changes and other minor things. At 130,000 miles, I knew I was due for some maintenance since everything on my car was basically still original from the factory. They quickly found all of the things that needed fixed and Evan was nice enough to go over each one with me explaining thoroughly what each part is responsible for. As a woman, it can be hit or miss going to repair shops as we're easy to convince since we don't understand 3 quarters of the lingo. I never feel like that here. They give their honest opinion about what should be prioritized and what things could be worried about at a later date. I had an issue with my car recently after picking it up from the shop (faulty OEM part) and had to return it the following day. The way they handled it far exceeded any expectation I could of had. Lou was great. Without my even asking, he offered to cover either a rental car or flight for me since I had to leave out of town that afternoon on emergency. He assured me that my car would be fixed by the time I got back and that they would keep it locked in the garage every night. While having to get (and pay for) car repairs is never fun, the guys at Complete Car Care really go out of their way to make their customers feel appreciated which is why I'll continue going there for any of my cars needs :). read more
