I'm going to give them 3 stars for the benefit of the doubt since I haven't gotten to use their services yet. I showed up as who i'm assuming is the owner put up a sign saying they'll be back in 30 minutes. I had time today so I decided to wait. 30 minutes isn't that big of deal to me right now and all the reviews were encouraging enough for me to think that waiting 30 minutes is no problem as long as the service is good. Well, I end up waiting over an hour and still no sign of anyone in the store. Sign still up and door still locked. By that time I decided to leave, which sucks because I was really optimistic and hopeful but now I don't even want to know if I want to go back later or not because it's just plain rude. I could understand if they wrote a time when they'd be back or even a time range but at 10:43am they put up the sign (I know because I just got out of my car at that point). My mom recommended this place for our wedding clothing (the dry cleaners that we have been going to for the past 20+ years in Newark is now closed). Fast forward today, my husband got two calls while we were out so we assumed that the clothes are ready for pick up. Well, guess what - they ruined my husband's Barong Tagalog which is tailored directly from the Philippines. Both arms were slashed; when I asked them how they were going to resolve it, they said "well, we can sew it". I am like, WTF, do you the fabric that this shirt is made of? The owner, who was on the call said that because it has been in the closet over a year that it caused the issue. Again, blaming the customer. I want to give a shout out to Alex, he is the owner and an amazing person. I had a an occasion on Sunday and gave Complete Cleaners my wife's dress on Thursday. They completed the cleaning and dry clean by Saturday by 4pm. I forgot to pick up the dress on time and reached the location at 730pm and found that they were closed. Obviously was panicking but thought will call the location and luckily after alot of rings Alex picked up and after hearing me, he went over and above to meet me there at 10 and saved the day for me. Needed my Peacoat dry cleaned back in March since my jacket had been kept in storage for a while. I liked how they would text you to let you know your item was ready to be picked up. Unfortunately I did not receive any text and called them about 15 minutes prior to when I told them I would need my jacket. When I picked up the jacket I placed it in my car and headed out...when I put on the jacket it "looked" nice n clean but still had musty smell. Okay, here is the promised review on Complete Cleaners! I did some research before taking my daughter's beautiful wedding gown for a cleaning and found some nice things said on Yelp! about Complete Cleaners. It worked out really great that it's located in my neighborhood so that I could talk to the proprietors in person. I will not lie, it did cost me a pretty penny but I was so pleased with the final results! The owner assured me that he'd do the best job and that he had actually done his own wife's gown which was a very difficult one to do. At first I was skeptical about having the gown cleaned and then sealed in the special preserved box.... How was I going to be able to see the finished product if it was to be given to me boxed and sealed? The owner said that he would make sure that he took pictures of the cleaned gown before sealing the box. Came the day to pick it up (it takes a month), the owners, a married couple, were both at the shop. Really such nice folks! When they showed it to me, I was absolutely floored! It was presented so beautifully! And, as promised, pictures of the cleaned gown were taken so that I could see the detail of cleaning done. Fantastic job! Through the miracle of digitized images, I was able to enlarge the part of the gown I was most concerned about - the train, of course! The train had been dragged through grass and goose poop the whole day and night of the wedding and the pics showed that it was spotless! They told me that the wife had spent four hours folding the gown so that it looked its absolute best in the box. As you'll see by the pics posted, they did a fabulous job. We were satisfied with this alteration business! My fiance needed his suit and pants to be altered for our wedding. We went to another alteration place in Fremont and they quoted us $113 for tapering and shortening the pants and slimming the suit. We were glad that we decided to check out Complete Cleaners because they quoted us only for $58! At first, we were kinda scared that they will not do a good job with the alteration because our friends said that the price is so cheap! This dry cleaner is becoming my favorite. I started having my work shirts launched (and ironed) and wool slacks dry cleaned here several weeks ago. The work product has been excellent (all done on site at the store), the customer service has been pleasant and professional and the prices are very reasonable. I left my former cleaner, whom I had been using for years, after they ruined one of my shirts and blamed me for the foul up and then charged me to "clean" the shirt that they damaged. I really wanted to like this place because they seemed really nice and chill when I came in. I took in two of my work dresses to get the pockets out, but they just sewed them shut and left the actual pockets in, which made the dresses even way more bulky. I also needed one of the cuffs fixed but their stitching was so poorly done, I'm afraid it's just going to come off again. Super disappointed that I paid around $95 for such a substandard work and now I'll have to pay even more money somewhere else to actually get these pockets out. Decided on stopping by this one because of 1) the reviews, 2) the $$ signs. Although it did seem a bit pricey to me, they did solve my problems with ease. Had some grease stains that i've already washed and re-washed even with that spray and wash stuff. It seemed futile. I had a bridesmaids dress to take in for cleaning. I wore it to a wedding a couple weeks before and had the bottom of the dress dragging in dirt the entire night. I went to yelp and found their Newark location with much more reviews, I called in to find out if they were operated by the same team and the kind man who answered said his daughter owns the Union City location and they do as good a job as their branch. I was thrilled because this location is much closer to me than Newark. So, I brought my dress in and 4 days later I received a text messaging letting me know it was ready for pick-up. This is my review of my experience at Complete Cleaners. I had several pairs of pants hemmed and a suit altered by Complete Cleaners. All items were completed to my satisfaction. They did such a good job with the alterations that I decided to get my shirts laundered there as well. I didn't get a text like everyone said they did to inform them that items were ready to be picked up. I thought all was well at pick up but when I came home to hang my shirts, I noticed a smudge on the front of one shirt and immediately called to let them know. I had three shirts and the stained shirt was in between the other two. I'm not saying they were trying to hide it, but that was the reason I didn't see the smudge when I picked the shirts up. I went down there before they closed and spoke to Alex. I explained the situation to him and was treated as if it was my fault. I understand that as business owners, they have seen their share of irrational customers. I didn't act irrational, irate, or even accusatory. I simply said that when I got home, this was the situation (the smudge on my shirt) right out of the bag. Clearly, someone made some kind of mistake somewhere along the process and my shirt was smudged. From the get-go, Alex (the owner?) was in defensive mode and denied this could happen. He was incredulous that a shirt could get smudged at his business and asserted that it couldn't have happened at his dry cleaning business. He basically believes that a business that processes the volume that they do could NEVER make a mistake. He explained that because my shirt was laundered, that it couldn't have happened. Guess what? Something did happen. Either between drying, pressing, or starching my shirt, it got smudged. The arrogant tone he had with me unbelievable. Our conversation ended with him insinuating that I was trying to scam him into re-cleaning a stained shirt. The conversation continued with him saying that they are "in the business of cleaning clothes and not making them dirty." Really? Thanks for the clarification. I was offered no apologies but he begrudgingly offered to redo my shirt. The shirt came back clean when I picked it up. I thought I had found my go-to place for cleaning and alterations based on my first alternations experience, but this incident left a bad taste in my mouth due to the owner's arrogant behavior in this situation. If he is in this kind of denial over something so simple, I can't imagine if some bigger mistake were to happen. I have been coming to this location for years with the previous owner. I thought I was getting good service. My clothes would come back just fine (even though they would be late often). It was a cleaner I could trust to do a good job since I previously had some pretty bad experiences with other local cleaners (ie. just pressing clothes and not actually cleaning them or not using very much cleaning solvent in their mix). Fast forward. My faithful cleaner decided to retire. Honestly I was bummed but understood. He introduced me to the new owners. A very nice young couple that have a lot of history in the dry cleaning business. Honestly I was a little skeptical and worried that I would have to go in search of a new dry cleaner. Obviously I would give Complete Cleaners (the new name) a try to see how they performed. There is an old saying (or maybe just one I'm making up) that says "you don't know you are living in the dark until you experience the light". Well oh my goodness!!! What an enormous difference I experienced with Complete Cleaners. First, they are consultative. They gave me recommendations on how to prolong the life of my clothes, different cleaning methodologies, and storage insight WITHOUT trying to up-sell me. Dry cleaning versus laundering, reasons to and not to starch, folding, etc. Very educational. Next, friendly and courteous and my clothes were on time. I will always pay for friendliness and great service. I felt very welcomed. Also, clothes being done when promised may seem like a minor thing but I travel a lot and there have been times I've had to go buy new clothes because my dry cleaning wasn't done in time for my trip. Finally and most importantly...I didn't think my clothes could get any cleaner...boy was I wrong! I wear a lot of white shirts. I know overtime they will start to get dingy and lose their luster. I can see when I compare some of my older shirts to my newer ones. Well I don't know what kind of magic they did but all of those white shirts were brilliant white!!! Couldn't tell old from new. All of my clothes smelled nice and fresh and were carefully organized. Bottom line, finding a dry cleaner that actually puts in effort to ensure you have clean clothes can be rare. A lot of other dry cleaners seem to get you in by giving you a cheap coupon and doing the minimum to clean your clothes. You end up with dull, dingy clothes that have been pressed and put in plastic. Saving a couple of bucks and getting less than you pay for is not very smart but we fall into that trap so many times. It's just not valuable. I've come here in the past and have gotten my clothes altered and has never gotten into any issues until this time. I brought in my dress so I can get the sides fixed and have the arm opening of the dress closed slightly since it is too loose. And luckily enough they were able to take me in. I came back a week later to pick it up and the sleeve opening were uneven. The left sleeve opening was perfect the right side my arm couldn't go in at all. They were different sizes. They said they will fix it free charge. I came back today expecting things to be done and they didn't do anything to it. It looked the exact same. And now they tell me to come back next week a few days before my birthday because the alteration lady is on vacation. If it was the case I would of have gone somewhere else to get it fixed. Firstly I do have to say I miss the old man a lot, granted he has known me ever since I was 5 years old but the family that he sold this dry cleaning store to is AMAZING. Within just two visit they already knew everyone in my family personally, they knew our names and the clothes and if my parents had picked up my dry cleaning before I had they were able to let me know within seconds of being in the store. I'm really happy that this family is now part of union city businesses because they go above and beyond for their customers.
