My experience at Complete Eye Care-Lawton was unacceptable and feels like a scam. I want to warn others before they end up in the same situation. We came in for an eye exam covered under TRICARE. The exam itself was fine, but when we were already checked out and about to leave, we reminded her that we wanted to order contacts. At that point, we were suddenly hit with a $150 charge for a "contact lens fitting." No one disclosed upfront that this would be an out-of-pocket expense not covered by TRICARE. Instead, the charge was added at the very end, after services were already performed. That is not transparency -- that is a bait-and-switch tactic. We called for weeks leaving voicemails checking on our prescription and no call back. ONLY when calling back we spoke to a representative that told us the contacts were never ordered and we were charged that fee which was never explained to us at all. To make matters worse, the employee checking us out, Karen, was rude and dismissive. She acted like she didn't want to be there or do her job. When we asked for a copy of our prescription (which is our legal right), she avoided giving it to us until we asked multiple times. By law (FTC Contact Lens Rule), providers are required to release prescriptions after fittings without patients having to beg for them. The fact that she withheld it until we pressed is extremely concerning and unprofessional. After leaving, I found other reviews describing the exact same problem -- people being charged $100-$150 at checkout with no proper explanation, and walking out with nothing but the trial lenses in their eyes. This shows a clear pattern of misleading billing practices and withholding prescriptions, not just an isolated mistake. Patients deserve honesty, respect, and compliance with the law. What we got instead was rudeness, surprise billing, and the feeling of being taken advantage of. If you're military or TRICARE, be especially cautious here. They advertise being in-network, but you will still get hit with hidden charges that TRICARE doesn't cover. I will be reporting this clinic to TRICARE, the Oklahoma Board of Optometry, and the FTC for investigation. read more

I called from another state to make appointment for my elderly mom with Humana Choice. Gave all info upfront to make sure all would be covered with NO out of pocket. When she finished exam, was told all exam not covered. Did other retinal imaging not covered and tried to get her to not use lens/frame benefit but pay $129 out of pocket! I called to try to handle while she was there and they ended up only not making her pay the $39 but she left with NO glasses! In the end, 2 hours later, she got absolutely nothing out of it to help her read. They couldn't tell me if they had any frames that were under her max cost and said lenses were $95, even with insurance! I've never had this issue til we moved her back to Lawton. So sad. This place was on Humana list of providers!! So sad to try to take advantage of an old woman with dementia. read more

Terrible experience trying to get glasses - frustrating run around type answers. No clear information - challenging to express what I wanted and then to get that. And then on pickup the glasses were completely blurry - I was helped by someone in training who had to keep asking a more experienced person. But the more experienced person dismissed me and did not offer to help other than telling the training person they could print my paperwork - she did not step in to try to assist and just went back to her computer - terrible terrible service after spending $1000 dollars on glasses you'd think that the customer service would be better. I could have gone anywhere I chose to go here because I expected a certain level of service training support information - I left ready to cry and I'm not an emotional person but 1000 dollars is a tremendous amount of money - just did not feel Supported or listened to. I used this place for a long time until they failed to call me and tell me I had an unpaid balance on my account. Maybe they tried to text me, but I don't have a "smart phone" since I am an octogenarian and don't have that kind of money to spend. A simple phone call would have given me the chance to go in and complete payment on my bill. But, no. They reported my account to a collection agency which ruined my excellent credit rating. Customer service is not very good. My glasses took a long time because, they said, their order did not arrive on time. Forward several months later, I bring my glasses for warranty repair. I was told it will be replaced and to come back. I went back when they said they got a replacement and and it turns out they got the wrong frames and now I have to wait again and then return. Dr. Howard Ross is a very kind a extremely capable Optometrist. He's been our Family eye doctor for over 25 years. He merged his practice with Complete Eye Care and since that day it has been terrible. His practice is being directed by an extremely impolite, discourteous and I'll-mannered Office Manager. This lady is the most UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE and Uncaring person I've ever had to deal with in my 50 years of life. She has single handedly RUINED my Families life long relationship with our Doctor. Due to this office managers incompetence, we have recently had to leave this facility to find another optometrist. I wish Dr. Ross well, but his Office Manager needs to change careers. They have terrible customer service. We ordered contact lenses from them weeks ago and they said "they never got the order from us" when we paid for it and we eventually got it weeks later. The assistants up in the front ran my credit and debit card four times saying it declined when it was their machine that did not properly work and money left both of my accounts for the amounts that they ran. We called to order another few months worth of contacts a week ago and PAID for them and they have yet to order the contacts when we were told we would receive them in three to five business days. This facility truly has the BEST Optometrists in town. Allow me to go in detail. -They treat almost all eye issues at this location (they do not do Surgeries, ex. Cataract Surgery), so Pink eye(s), Dry eyes, Foreign Body removals, Special testing (visual fields, ERG, OCT, Pachs, etc.). -The staff is always happy to assist you from when you walk in, to when you leave. -The building doesn't smell bad, the place always smells fresh. -They will work with your insurance & wont hide any fees from you. (I have Tricare btw. & would rather check the health of my eyes here than on Base.) - All the doctors are professional, friendly, and always listen to all your concerns. -When receiving an exam here, the staff is very thorough. The best machine they have at this facility is called, "The Optos Machine" it takes a picture of the back of your eye through the pupil to see the Retina. This machine is great since it basically allows you to see what the doctor sees when they look through their microscope. -They have a variety of contact lenses here, even the Scleral lenses. -Their soft contact lenses are the cheapest in town or online since they also come with rebates. I recommend purchasing the 1 year supply to get your money's worth. (For those of you who think Hubble is cheaper, so is Hubble's quality.) The doctors here will make sure there is no issues with the lenses they put you in. And will always work with you if you have any issues. -The back office Clinicians are the best. They all work together to help your visit go buy smoother. They call in your prescriptions. They make sure all your medical information is accurate. - The Optical department also works with your needs. They have transition lenses, Crizal, Eyezen+, & so many brand name frames to choose from. I had a very pleasant experience here. All of the members of the staff were fantastic, and Dr. Ross was very attentive and listened well to me. The wait area was nice and comfortable, and once you check in the desk staff is happy to get you a drink, which is great on hot summer days. The areas I saw were very clean and well-organized. My only issue is the price. Even with insurance, I paid quite a bit for an exam, probably the most I've ever paid, insurance or not. Bit pricey, but then again, so are my eyes. :) read more

The doctors are the best! My son had a very great experience with them. I bought him 2 pairs of glasses paid upfront for them everything was good, I was told 7 to 10 business days and they would be in. This is where the trouble started. Called 5 times after the 10 business days were up, and no one would answer a phone, kept getting a text message that said "sorry we couldn't answer our phone we are busy with other patients." Decided to go up there on April 12th to see what's going on, she said one pair was in, got that pair and went home, gave a couple days and called again, the same thing (never got someone on the phone) always followed with the same text message. Finally on my way up there today called right before I left the house, same thing, followed with the text. I get there and there is literally 2 cars in the parking lot. I asked for my sons glasses and she said yes we have them, she gets them out, I asked when they came in and she said April 8th. I was just up there on April 12th. Why couldn't I pick them up then? And why don't y'all answer your phones? I don't understand how a place has so many people standing around talking to each other getting paid to not perform customer service. We are under the impression that Dr. Shane Claborn is a good optometrist, but the way his staff, and his office conduct business is completely another story. Simply put, what they offer, is not what they deliver. Unless you have knowledge of what you are getting for your money, you are in for an unpleasant surprise when you have questions after you pay your fees. So, if you are looking for contact lenses, or glasses, and you want to deal with people you can trust, this is not the place. When in doubt, they have the benefit, not the patient. We like Dr. Claborn, but not his staff. Don't get me wrong, they have manners and give you the greeting of the day with a smile. We'll be looking for another optometrist. read more

Couldn't have been a more pleasurable experience. Staff was very friendly. Beautiful offices and store. Very thorough eye exam. Thought the contact lens exam was expensive but the testing was involved. Good example of you get what you pay for. Decided that with my eyes I needed to use their expertise. Well let's just say I called complete eye care on Cache Road to see if I can be seen for my pinkeye/conjunctivitis and that I was planning switching from my eye doctor that I've been going to since I was a child and I was going to start going to the complete eyecare on Cache Road because I also have a very sweet relative that works there so when I spoke to A very sweet young lady on the phone she made me an appointment and told me to be there at 2:30 she was very kind and very sweet over the phone and said that my vision insurance should pay for the medical part if my other medical does not pay or if they don't not pay enough for my condition!!! So the sweet lady I was speaking with over the phone asked me if I can be there by 2:30 so I rushed around and got ready arrived and was treated like a person I cannot afford to pay for my eye care!!! Well as I arrive the receptionist at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional matter-of-fact very hateful basically told me that it was not going to get paid for by my vision plan before even verify any information..... so I told her I had to make a phone call to get my medical insurance information or go home and get my card and she said I had to have it there by 3 PM which is nine minutes away I said you are something else and I walked out the door!!! And of course it was either a nurse or assistant standing next to me that flat out told me that it was going to be cash pay starting at over $100 just to get seen for my pink eye!! I told them I did not want to spread it to my child they were not concerned at all whatsoever so they are very rude when you walk in the door but the girls on the phone are very kind very sweet and very helpful but I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy worst experience I've ever had in my life !!!!! read more

This place is amazing. From the warm welcome walking in, to the beautiful showroom, hot coffee and clean environment. I came in with my husband, looking to get him a new pair of glasses. We had been to SEVERAL other places trying to find him a frame that fit and hadn't had luck. Not only did we have a nice selection to choose from, but the young lady that helped us was beyond wonderful. Nicole is definitely a gem! She was extremely thorough with us, answered our many many questions we had and explained them in enough detail, that my husband and I understood exactly what we were getting. This eye clinic is fantastic. From the receptionist staff to the assistants, and Dr. Swanson, I was beyond impressed. Lawton has many sketchy areas, but the care given to me gets me excited to go back for check-ups. Everyone was so nice and informative. I am a physician and even though I always felt I had good eye care, I honestly can say I had the best optician exam by Dr. Swanson at Complete Eye Care that I have ever had. He was able to diagnose problems I had for years with my eyes and had been repeatedly missed by others. When I got my new eye glasses there, after he identified these issues, I could see better than I have seen for years. I cannot remember when I last could see so clearly. It has been a life changing, life enhancing experience. I am not exaggerating. For me, honestly, I feel like I am discovering the world with my new glasses that allow me to see details that were previously just blurs. The part that is amazing is that I have always had optician care and glasses but details had been missed over the years and I had grown resigned to my poor vision.
