First of all, I called the phone number to arrange an appointment. The gentleman was very pleasant. Stanton could see us that day. It wasn't until I received the conformation text, that I found out the appointment was for McCallan TX....not Lawton OK....so another phone call ensured. My wife and I had appointments at the same time....it makes it easy. Had to answer the complete questionnaire...again, not an issue. I wear contacts, and so had to remove mine for a through eye exam. My wife wears glasses. So, after the exam, was when we found out that our insurances don't stack. My health insurance allows an eye exam every other year. The vision plan allows an eye exam every year. Because of this....we have virtually no out of pocket expenses every year. We found out that Stanton doesn't allow the plans to stack....so you can't use both to pay.....so we had small co pays....unusual....but not an issue. From reading everything, I was aware that the optometrist was telemed.....IE, you see and speak to the Dr over video....I WASN'T aware that we would have NO CONTACT with him at all. The physician is D.O.....not an ophthalmologist....nor an optometrist. The physician wouldn't fill the contact prescription because my eyes were irritated from taking out my contacts (and allergies), but I wasn't allowed to speak to him.....but I was allowed to come back in for another eye exam within the next 30 days (for free....after that I would have to pay). So, I paid for an eye exam, but no contacts. My wife had decided on the 2 pairs of glasses for 79 dollars....which wound up being 212.00. Multifocal.....polycarbonate, antiglare...etc (they upcharge you for everything) This is 212 out of pocket....never had to pay that before....but we were told that it would be more expensive if we used the insurance. My wife had broken her glasses.....so we had to do something.....so OK....FINE. A week later the glasses came in. We went to pick them up.....the girl there very nice, but the glasses were NOT fitted in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. So Lawton....RUN, don't WALK AWAY from STANTON OPTICAL on Sheridan and GORE.

FORTY-FIVE minutes later, I asked the staff if I owed them any money for the mentioned tests performed. They couldn't believe that I was willing to leave without being seen by the doctor. I couldn't believe that I wasted an hour of my life at this place. After going to dr. nolan for years, I will never go back.

A sleep apnea diagnosis requiring a CPAP machine brought me in. They have a contract to kick out these devices to service members via Fort Sill's clinic paying most of the tab for the USG. And they clearly know that. The staff was generally laissez fair, tricked out in "scrubs" without any sense of urgency or personal interest. They already broke out the main device without me even having a choice. So, the reason for the 2 stars: I got the distinct impression - shared by a colleague with the exact same experience - that the person that helped us was more concerned about filling the order (with proper pricing) defined by doctor than what I really needed. They glossed over the equipment with a clear lack of empathy or a demonstrated familiarity with the kit indicating it was personal preference. Wow. Essentially, fill the order, give general guidance (nothing is returnable), and let the customer know what they didn't have and they'll let you know when it's in. More to the point...the implied message is that customer service is secondary to filling the order...probably due to the fact they are a sole proprietor or one of a few in the area. How they run out of stock is beyond me when they know they'll be paid and the government will keep sending them "clients" (using the term loosely as the rep was more concerned about billing me properly than whether I knew how to use this completely foreign equipment). Two stars may be too generous and the staff and owners will soon find out that more is expected...especially when you are on the USG gravy train. Bottom line: they clearly feel like they have the market cornered and have tired of effectively dealing with the people side of the business. Very disappointing and, if I was you...spend your money or your insurance company's money somewhere where the customer actually matters.

From the get-go I was welcomed warmly by the staff, and wasn't hustled for the best eye-exam options. I was simply informed of the pros/cons of different tests, and then was seen by Dr. Howard Ross. He was very professional and courteous from the beginning. He also explained the tests I took extremely well for anyone to understand. After the exam he walked me to the front desk, and asked me if I had any further questions or concerns. I will definitely be back when my next exam is needed, and will bring my wife over when she needs her visit. Much appreciated, and great service. Highly recommended!
