Highly recommend Complete Fence . The main office is located in Batavia. 2 years ago after moving into my new home they installed a vinyl fence. Professional and great service throughout the entire process including helping me with applications to my HOA and guiding me through the process every step of the way for village permits. Not to mention I wound up with an absolutely beautiful fence. 3 weeks later we had a derecho come through which knocked out three sections of my fence overnight. The next morning they were out there fixing the fence.. and they did it free of charge! Earlier this week we had what was called a "wake low"! Another odd name for wins during a storm. This time it took out one section of my fence on the other side of the yard. Also there was damage to several boards that wound up with holes and a crack in them. Not only did they come out the very next day again and put everything back in place, replacing the broken boards.. and doing some service on my gate which had shifted and wasn't closing smoothly... but once again free of charge! Our experience with Complete Fence was excellent from start to finish. We worked with Jim on the particulars of what we wanted. He was professional and communication was prompt and complete. We decided to use Complete Fence because they had installed our former red cedar fence and their price out of the 3 quotes was the lowest (one quote was $50 more and another quote was $2,000 more). The fence looks beautiful and they were able to troubleshoot the issue of lower boards getting wet and rotting by redesigning the bottom of the fence. Complete Fence installed my fence under some challenging circumstances. I have a large arborvitae that they had to work around to install, and also a neighbor has a masonry flower bed abutting my fence. The Complete Fence crew was able to work around the obstacles, and installed the cedar fence perfectly. The installers were extemely couteous and kept me knowlegable during the installation. The Complete Fence office staff is tremendous also. From the salesman to Gina in the office, they were completely transparent in the process, had the fence installed in a timely fashion. We completed our fence with them since their label was on the rest of our fence (prior to us moving in). Our gate lock doesn't work and when I asked about if I was told "you didn't upgrade your gate fence" I've never understood why I needed an upgrade to get a working lock. Everytime I have to go out the gate I'm pissed we gave them our money. what a terrible company. will never use and will always be vocal on the terrible company they are to anyone I can talk to. a sime fix to the lock was needed but since I didn't "upgrade" I'm not worth a working gate. read more

I had heard a lot of good things about Complete Fence from our neighbors around town. I gave them a call Saturday (5/2/2020) to see if they could come out sometime within the next few days to give us a quote. The guy on the phone was really nice and helpful (don't remember his name). He told us he would stop by sometime on Monday afternoon (5/4/2020) to give us a quote since he would be in the area. I never got a solid time, but we're pretty flexible with our schedule, so we waited patiently. At 3:45PM on Monday (today), I got a text reminder saying that we had an appointment with Complete Fence at 4PM. we got ourselves together and waited. 4PM rolled by, 4:15... 4:30... 4:45... By 5:30PM, we went on with our day because we had to run out and complete our errands. It sucks that no one called us to update us and let us know that they needed to reschedule or that they were running late. I wasted an hour and a half of my day waiting on a business who clearly didn't care about our time or money. But after reading all of these reviews on here, it might have been a blessing in disguise! read more

Complete Fence has been a fixture in West Chicago for many years. They were one of the calls I made when we decided to put a dog run in the yard at our new house last summer. I didn't quite know what I wanted, but I knew what we needed, and that was to stay on a budget! Jeremy worked closely with me and was very patient as we completed a plan that would suit our needs. We ended up with a custom fence (modern slat privacy fence along the road, and black chain link to complete the other sides, so I could see my dogs from the house). We were scheduled for the install about 3 weeks from the time we put our name in the books. I was called a few days early for the work to begin a little sooner than expected. That was a nice surprise! The installer arrived on the day he was scheduled, he was very professional and worked diligently to complete the job. It took two days from start to finish. About half way through, I felt as though the slats in the privacy fence were too far apart (even though he was doing exactly as I told him). He stopped what he was doing and worked with me to come up with a solution. Yes it cost a little more in material cost, but I'm so glad we went ahead and changed the plan. The fence looks awesome, my neighbors have complimented it and we are very pleased overall. And, I also have a note on their ethical standards. When the job was complete, I wrote a check for the balance and handed it over to the installer. I guess my records were wrong and somehow I paid $900 over the amount due. I had no idea my mistake until I got a refund check in the mail. I called to make sure it was not a book keeping mistake and sure enough, I had over paid by a lot! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER with a contractor. And I'll need to hire someone else to fix the work. First off, super bad communication. To get any updates I always needed to call in. I never told them money was an issue. I told them I understood my property had a slope and there would be gaps. I told them I have small animals and needed their expert opinion on where to place a gate. The estimator Jeremy stated that a four foot section on the south side of my property would make it flush. And would be easier for us. He stated they could put a gate on the one side but it would be more money. I signed the contract. Got the permit in less than a week. Sent them all the information. I was told two weeks from the permit. The operations manager Sara stated after I emailed that I was upset not getting any sort of update from them unless I contacted them. She then said I should have been told it was more like 4 to 6 weeks. They installed the chain link fence and there is an 8 inch gap under it. I said that was unacceptable I called Sara before the installers left as they told me it would have been better and flush on the other side of the home. Sara instantly stated why did I sign a contract if that's not what I wanted. I told her I followed their professional recommendation. I also asked to speak to her supervisor. She said there isn't one. I asked about the owner, she laughed and said that he will never respond. She sent out the estimator who denied ever saying that that was the best spot. And said that they did it that way because money was a concern. He said they could move it but I'd have to pay for it. I stated that o felt as if the contract stated that I would have a full fence and I do not. He quoted $200 dollars on top of what I had paid and then had his operation manager send a contract asking for $300. Nobody was willing to take even the smallest ounce of blame. I will NEVER HIRE or recommend these guys. I should have read other reviews. His company also goes by Northern Illinois Fence. That should have been a red flag there. I had gotten several estimates for fences and liked the person who came out and their time frame. When it was time to get to ready my permit still had not come through (get that done before you pay). When the guys came out, I had no idea they were coming, no communication except a knock on my door, they needed power and there is none outside, what if I wasn't home? Then they got rained out, so a new crew had to come Monday. Not the same crew?? Didn't even know they were there working until I heard them. Again no communication. Then they knocked on my door to unplug to say were done. Ok great I'll come out to check it out. Nope, they were gone, could not go over any questions or issues. So I emailed the office. They did get back to me. Did apologize about communication, and would come back out to check and issue I had. Didn't say when. Then my neighbor came over to say they left a pile if dirt in his yard. So emailed again. They came out next day to remove, but did have time to talk about my issues would have to come back. So finally they did, Fence it self seems great. They still couldn't tell me if I should seal it or not. ?? read more

A complete joke. Like many others, I had these guys put a fence in my yard about five or six years ago. Over the last few winters, frost heave has pushed a few posts out of the ground. I called Complete Fence back to ask about having a service call - and I told them right off I was willing to pay for it. I just figured if you live in the Midwest with the snow and cold and all that, these things happen. I had to call several times because the right person never seemed available. I suggested I take pictures and email to make it easier - they agreed. A week or two goes by and I receive a quote for a minimum of $1400 to fix the problem. Ah, no. I think I paid $6 or 7k for the entire thing. I wasn't paying a "minimum" of $1400 to fix five or six posts. I find somebody else - well, today is the day they are here. I never mentioned to this new firm anything about the company that put the fence in originally or my recent experiences with them. The first thing the guy says is "Complete Fence put this in, didn't they?" Then he walks around the fence telling me of all the shortfalls/problems with the fence. The concrete posts on several of them are less than a foot in depth. The concrete is crumbling on others - he tells me the concrete was not mixed properly. I dunno if the fence was properly installed to begin with. I don't know if this is what you should expect when you have a fence (aluminum) that is five or six years old. But what I do know is that Complete Fence couldn't get off their ass and come out and even look at the repair job. And they gave me a HUGE quote to fix it without even seeing it. And the guy that I did engage to fix it is outside right this minute laughing his ass off. Yeah, not feeling it. 10/26 Update The one thing I can say with absolutely certainty is that Complete Fence reads this reviews. Within an hour or two of posting my original review above, I received an email from Katie B. as follows: "We saw your review on Yelp and would like to discuss the issues with you. We have no record of a "Daniel B" calling in for service in the South Elgin area and would like a bit more information in order to figure out what may have happened. If you could provide your address, full name and contract information I would greatly appreciate it. You may also call our office and ask for Katie if it is easier. The number is 630-231-9550. If this is indeed warranty work we would have provided the service at no cost so I am unsure what may have happened and would like to get this resolved." So, on the one hand, they're proactive to reviews. That's good. On the other hand, I had to pull teeth to get a quote from them in the first place. And there was no talk about warranty when I told them I had a problem with the fence. The other company that came out to fix the fence? When they started digging out the posts to re-seat them? They discovered that the original installed dug a hole, put in a few inches of concrete, then placed the post ON TOP OF THE CONCRETE. Then piled in a bunch of dirt and then put more concrete on top. Guess what happens to all that dirt in between the two layers of concrete? It absorbs moisture, the moisture freezes, and expands. I'm not typically a reviewer and I can't say with certainty what kind of company Complete Fence is. At the end of the day all I can say is how my fence was installed. Now, granted, it was installed five or six (or maybe seven or eight) years ago. I don't remember the install date. Would the new guy lie to me about the install? Maybe he has an axe with Complete Fence, I dunno. All I know is my fence was sinking and poking up all over the place. If you have a repair and just want us to take care of it without a salesman to come out to your property, we will charge you $375 as a minimum fee at a rate of $125 an hour. (For previous customers there is a minimum 1 hour charge at the rate of $75). Plus materials for all repairs. Another option: CNIF Extended Service Plan. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! I wish I read the reviews prior to committing to this company. Horrible experience and even worse customer service. We need to hire a second company to complete the work! AN UNNECESSARY HOLE DUG IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR FRONT YARD FOR NO REASON NEEDS TO BE FILLED AND PATCHED WITH SOD, ONE GATE WAS BUILT COMPLETELY INCORRECTLY AND HAD TO BE REMADE, ANOTHER GATE ENCLOSURE TO FIT OUR GARBAGE CANS IS COMPLETELY WRONG, DOESN'T FIT THE CANS AND ANOTHER COMPANY IS COMING TO FIX IT, OUR YARD WAS LEFT A MESS AFTER MULTIPLE NO-SHOWS, THE THIRD GATE IS THE WRONG HEIGHT AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY ANOTHER COMPANY... AND NO APOLOGY FROM SARA (THE OPERATIONS MANAGER). DOSara is quick to send an invoice yet not quick to send workers to your site. After multiple calls to the office and Sara being well aware of the frustrations on our end due to the incompetence on their end, we were offered a $200 credit to LEAVE THE JOB AS IS AND HIRE ANOTHER COMPANY TO FIX IT or the option to PAY IN FULL and hope someone comes to complete the job. HORRIBLE! The $200 discount doesn't even cover the second company coming to fix the poor work that was done! The problem started from the beginning... terrible communication between the office and subcontractors. The first set of workers came to drop off materials (which were sitting in my yard for over a week prior to any other workers coming to begin the job) and no one had a clue what was going on. You are told that no one needs to be home; however, if we weren't I have no idea how much worse it would have been! We had to have full walk-throughs with the crew multiple times and things were still wrong! A job that was said to be less than one full day lasted over a week with endless promises of a new arriving on several occasions when all we experienced was no-show after no-show. The gentleman who initially came out to give us an estimate, Matt, was very nice but we were disappointed that even he was frustrated with this job and the "operations manager" Sara had no solutions. It was only after multiple complaints that a site manager came out after the "work was complete" to walk around our yard and listen to everything we had already explained to Matt and Sara several times. We contacted the company to come inspect it and replace under warranty. They wouldn't even come out to look at it! We were told that there was no way this could have happened unless a truck had hit it. We have pictures and video proving that nothing hit this post. Let me start at the beginning. The day that I walked in (In a full work uniform as I had just come from work) Lexi, the receptionist, who was also on the phone at the time shouted "No, go use the other door" and then pointed out of the office. I exited the main office very frustrated and confused and went down to the "other door". I walked in and immediately realized I was in a warehouse. So I went back to the main office and before I could get a word out she told me again "I said out, use the other door". I told her I was a potential customer and not an installer and she laughed and claimed she thought I was one of the installers because I drove a pickup truck...Mind you it has my company name plastered all over it. Secondly, when Ryan came out to my house to bid, he wouldn't let me get more than two words in before interrupting me with an "ok" or just "K". Obviously he wasn't listening to a word I had said. After I signed off on the contract, I waited the three weeks and called the office again. Once again, over the phone this time Lexi was EXTREMELY rude to me. Her tone is like that of a bartender or bouncer instead of customer service personnel. I finally got patched through to Sarah who, during the entire conversation was obviously typing on her computer and half answering my questions regarding the installation date. She told me it would be about three days past the three week mark because of rain, which I absolutely understood. So, I called after those extra three days had passed and was again greeted by Lexi, who was once again rude and very unprofessional. Sarah wasn't any better. She was on the computer again typing away while I was placed on speaker phone, half answering my questions. She told me at that point that they would be at my house the very next day. I was told by Ryan that I'd get between 3 and 4 days notice but this was obviously false and I wonder if I would have ever received a call considering I was not once contacted by Sarah for a follow up during this process. The installers showed up on time and honestly did a fantastic job. I loved every minute of the way they worked. All three were extremely professional, down to business and constantly doing something. Both days, I was blown away by Jordan and his laborer. Honestly, those guys deserve a raise for how they handle themselves in the field. One issue that came up however is that one of the gate posts that Ryan bid to be something called a plate (Which I know nothing about, mind you) was, according to Jordan and the crew lead, a mistake. I would agree. The post is extremely flimsy and shakes pretty violently every time the gate closes. I was told that the way this should have been done is to drill in to the concrete and bury the post like the other posts, for the sake of stability. Again I agree with that, as I am extremely unhappy with the way this gate and post shake and bounce off my siding. With that being said, I reached out to Sarah on Friday the 5th of June, but was greeted once more by Lexi who was literally laughing and joking with someone else in the office (after telling me that, at 4pm on a Friday everyone was gone for the weekend). Again she was rude and unprofessional but she said she would take my note about the gate post, as I requested to speak with Sarah, and was told that I would be contacted on Monday regarding it. I want you to understand that I think you have a wonderfully trained crew of installers. They were outstanding and I am thrilled with the look and new aesthetic in my yard. However, your operations staff are probably the worst I've seen in 15 years of dealing with contractors on different projects. Mind you, I'm also a contractor and I'd be downright embarrassed if any of my people handled themselves like Ryan, Lexi or Sarah. This is why I would never recommend your company to a friend, family or quite frankly anyone unless you undertook some serious business practice changes, starting with teaching your office personnel the basics of customer service. *Follow Up* I was contacted by Sarah a few days after I sent this email, on 6/8/2020. She apologized and assured me that the company would come out and take care of the post issues as soon as possible, on them. Never heard from her again. About a week after she called I heard from the company owner who again assured me that this NEVER happens and that he can't believe his staff was behaving in this manner. He also said they wouldn't core drill my posts because that's not the way they do things. He said he would partner with one of his shop foreman to figure something out. Never heard from him again. A week and some change after speaking to him I received another call, this time from the foreman. (This was 6/17/2020) He told me that they were going to custom create a base for my posts on Friday or Saturday of that week (6/19 or 6/20) and be out Monday or Tuesday of the following week to install. Today is Friday 6/26 and I haven't heard a word. read more

The sales representative did not follow up at all. I had to ask if the parts were in, I had to ask when the service manager was coming out, and I had to ask if they thought the job was done. When I asked if the job was done the response I received was "all done." Which was not the case. The paper estimate I received did not match the job they did. It seemed like they made all these promises to make my fence repair look good as new, then when it was time to deliver they just went with the cheapest way possible. If Complete Fence was the only company that could repair my fence, I would much rather pay a different company to tear our and replace the entire thing. Wow, refreshing to work with a company that is not only union but understand the building process like I do. I read the bad reviews and it sounds like hog wash to me. They offer a program where I can insure my fence under a warranty lan that makes nothing come out of my pocket. The quality of material is at the highest, they don't skimp like every other company in the Chicago region. They have a sister company the is Northern Illinois fence. I come to find the reason for my experience is new ownership. There last 6 moths have been a positive transition removing bad blood and hiring people who are there to help and direct you like experts. I wish I needed more work. CNI installed my vinyl fence and it has been fine until I needed a repair done. I had a tree fall on the fence and can not get matching vinyl to have it repaired. CNI has been impossible to to deal with in no return of emails or phone calls. When they finally did choose to communicate back, they sent a 'we don't care about your business' number to fix a single post and 2 rails at $700-$900! Bottom line, if you ever have issues with your fence and want it to be repaired, do not go with Complete Northern Illinois Fence. Spend your money where elsewhere. read more

My uard now looks as if they did donuts with 4-wheelers. They won't return my calls and their "contact us" email isn't even a valid email address. "30 years of expertise" my ass. I bought one of the white fences to go around my yard because it was a no maintenance to it I had large gates put in to fit my trailer and camper through well the gates are only warranty for 30 days ( read the small print when buying from them because they won't tell you about it) the gates started falling in after the first year! the guy that came here was nice to start but then when called back to see what was happening about them, because it was from workmanship that they were falling in we barely use them at all, they got real snotty with me and I never heard from them again. Complete Fence quickly became a complete headache. I paid more than competing bids because I thought the positive written reviews and glowing personal references would result in "stellar" customer service. Not sure what happened, maybe employee turnover, but I encountered one issue after another and do not feel that this company went out of its way to compensate me for the prolonged frustration. I do not recommend this company. While the crew and staff were all professional and courteous, this installation that took place near the end of August quickly became a comedy of errors. First, the crew spread the clay they dug for fence posts along the fence line creating a weird little wall that would have killed the grass there. It wasn't until I said something that they removed most of it. Next, they didn't order enough material for the job, leaving me with an unusable fence due to a large opening for about a week. While I was waiting for the crew to return, I inspected the fence and found numerous scratches and scrapes on the aluminum surface that the installers didn't bother to look back over - some inches long. When I pointed these out, the installers seemed willing to tackle the largest few but said they'd have to come back for the rest and I'd have to mark the spots for them. OK, so I spent an hour and a half of my time closely inspecting the fence and marking it with numerous pieces of quick release painter's tape. After waiting a couple weeks I called the salesman to find out when he'd finish the job and was told that he would be out the next week. A couple more weeks go by and I call the company because nothing has been done and now they've sent me a bill. I call the company about the bill to let them know that the repair work wasn't finished and I didn't plan to pay the remaining balance (half due up front) because I couldn't seem to get anybody out to finish it up. The employee I spoke with seemed astonished that it had taken this long and promised to have somebody out ASAP. Weeks more go by. Again, I call the company to find out what's going on because I don't want my account sent to collections, just a finished fence. I get another person, a new guy, who promises to be out ASAP. He finally comes out to finish the job, in December! By now the tape has left a residue on the fence that needs to be cleaned off because it has gone through cycles of heat and freeze. Even though the temperature is in the 30s when he arrives to paint the fence, he says it's OK. This has me concerned because everything I see on-line about the correct temperature for painting says to do it in warmer weather. Again, he reassures me that it'll be fine - they want the rest of their money on this job. He shows up on a Wednesday and I get a call on Thursday asking me how I like my fence and when would I be paying. I respond that I can't check the work on the fence, worried about the paint in freezing weather, and tell them I will have to get back to them because it's dark by the time I get home. The next day it snows like crazy, covering everything with about four inches. At this point, I give up and write the check since this will require a lot more time to clean off the fence. They came out to give a quote, said they would call back the next day with the figures, it's been almost 2 weeks and I can't even get the sales guy to even return my calls. So disappointed with the carelessness of the sales department. They came recommended but now I would say don't even bother with them if I could give them a zero rating I would. read more

I wish I could write a better review but they never showed up for my estimate. There was never a phone call saying that they running behind or won't be coming at all. I got up at 4 am to get my workday in so I would be available at 1200 noon. I own my own business and would never think of not showing up for a scheduled appointment. My time is money and you wasted both. read more

The free quote/sales side is about the only good thing about this company. Matt B came out and gave a very reasonable quote and was very responsive to questions. The installation was deplorable! The gate they installed had no drop rod to secure it so the gate could just blow open. On top of the gate the install crew left a piece of chain sticking up and cut 3 people. The install crew also left 2 gaps in my fence. Upon raising my concerns, it took 1 week to get someone out to fix it but have no fear they were sure to send me a bill BEFORE my fence was fixed. You get what you pay for here and if they mess something up they offer options at charge to you to fix. NEVER AGAIN! read more
