Started to get pain in my foot, Went online and spoke to a couple of podiatrists,when I called complete foot and ankle I liked what they said on the phone Asked me a couple of questions And asked if I was in pain when I said yes they said they will see me the next day,that doesn't happen often in Vegas especially when your a new patient. Just got off the phone with Monica who claims protocol to get medication after a culture is to make another appointment and come in. I've just had foot surgery and I'm non ambulatory for 30 days so I was told once the month is over come in... I specifically told her I don't even care if I have the diagnosis just need antibiotics if the culture is positive. She proceeded to interrupt me constantly, wouldn't let me finish speaking and would not help me. Several times I've left messages prior to this and no one returned my calls. The MA for Dr Shalev is not returning calls. He was an excellent doctor it's unfortunate his staff can't seem to get it together. The last time I had a question I had to drive almost half an hour each way to his office and walk in because no one returned my calls. I had a heart and kidney transplant a few months ago, and currently have a completely suppressed immune system, requiring masking. Okay, that said: Because of the massive surgeries, and diabetes, both feet are numb and I have continuous pain in both ankles, probably neuropathy. The first time that I went into Dr. Shelev's office, I was brought into a waiting area reasonably quickly, and saw the doctor. I explained that I was a recent dual transplant, and that it was crucial that everyone in contact with me was masked. He countered by showing me his colostomy bag and telling me about the hole in his colon! He then offered to cut my toenails every two months, (and bill my insurance accordingly!) He seemed obsessed with getting paid. Then, he sort of examined me, recommended some orthotic inserts, and rubbed a different lotion on each ankle, saying some people respond to one, and some to the other. Huh? He recommended a medication that involves a foot-wrap procedure every three months, that "may" help the numbness in my feet. We should know for sure after a year, but first "Let's make sure that your insurance covers it." So, the inserts had a high arch, and I have flat feet. After a couple of hours, there was no way that I could take them. Keep this in mind... My insurance was approved for the foot-wrap drug within two days. I scheduled my next appointment hesitantly, not imagining what was about to happen! I went to the office at 9 am on a Monday (11/13/ 23), expecting to be greeted warmly and taken to a waiting room, like last time. This time, the receptionist, not masked, told us to wait out front. It wasn't a long wait until a young woman, unmasked, told my wife and I to come to a room featuring two low-seated recliners. Because my kidney was transplanted into my lower right abdomen, I was necessarily "bending" the scar tissue because the seat was so low. It was painful, but tolerable. I handed the woman the sole inserts, and explained that they weren't for me. She began interrogating me about why I was returning them, and that they are non-refundable. I said I hadn't paid for them yet, and I was trying to be nice, and give them back, since I'd only tried them on for an hour, (with socks), and they didn't work. She kept insisting that everybody pays for the inserts before they leave. I said that there must have been an oversight, and she kept insisting that my story was impossible, because EVERYBODY has to pay for them before they can leave. I asked if she was calling me a liar? She kept going with her rant, and eventually I asked her to get out. I wouldn't talk to her anymore, and I was going to leave. At that moment, a bright star, Nurse Practitioner named Allie, (unmasked) came in, completely diffused the situation, I calmed down, and she said that she would apply the wrap, which takes about 15 minutes or so. I was back on board, and then the Office Manager (unmasked) came in. She was ready to fight! She started by saying that I spoke to her staff (the young woman) inappropriately and that was unacceptable, offering no alternative. I asked why she was reprimanding me, the patient, without having even heard my side of me trying to return my free orthotic insoles, which really had nothing to do with why I was there in the first place! Long story short, believe it or not, she was continuing to say how my language was inappropriate without giving me a chance to explain my position, or her even asking me what I'd said. I grabbed my socks and shoes, got out of the chair, looked at the office manager, and told her "Shame on you. . . go f--- yourself - now THAT was inappropriate!" . .. .and we walked out, I've contacted my insurance company, the BBB, and the American Podiatric Medical Association. In my humble opinion, this place should be shut down. Staff is awful, except for Allie, doctor is unprofessional and seems sort of lost in the diagnosis stage, obsessed with getting paid, and I can't afford to get an infection because an alleged medical facility won't put on a mask when treating a patient with a suppressed immune system! Some of the Yelp reviews here were faked, rather obviously. This one is real, and I believe most of the one-star reviews here, after this experience. If you get caught in this web, shame on you. I have seen this doctor a couple times. Have had X-rays etc and he hasn' helped me or properly explained what the issue may be after my injury. He just pushed me to buy overpriced shoe inserts which I could have bought at any store for less. Then all he can say is "I can give you a shot" which hasn't helped. I am a caregiver for my grandpa where I take him to his appointments. About every 9 weeks we go to his appointments at Complete Foot & Ankle Care. Every time we have been he has been given beyond excellent care. The receptionist recognizes Charles every time he comes, greeting him with a smile and hello! She checks us in and we never have a long wait time. Once checking us in, she checks our temperature and let's us into the room. Once waiting for the Dr. Shalev, it only takes a few minutes for him to come inside. He greets Charles and I with a smile as always. Even engages with friendly conversation. He helps out my grandfather with his issues and listens to everything he has to say. If you have a problem with your feet or ankles GO HERE! Instead of him discharging me the professional way he had me come down to a appointment he had scheduled for me at 11:30 am on Monday August 21. And when I get down there him and his staff act like I was delusional. And told me that I never had a appointment. And I told them I got the appointment card you gave me to prove it. Dr. Shalev provided me with expert advice and care after I broke a toe on my left foot following a fall while rehearsing for a musical. He informed me clearly of the possible outcomes and made sure I was comfortable and knew how to take precautions until I was able to get x-rayed to confirm the diagnosis. The treatment involved a walking boot which I wore for many weeks. I was concerned because I needed to drive to work and my car was a standard transmission which meant I needed my left foot to use the clutch pedal. Dr. Shalev went through the options with me and assured me that based on the fracture I had sustained, I was able to drive with a regular proper fitting shoe, as long as I kept the boot on during all other times when I was moving around. During the entire time Dr. Shalev was extremely caring and considerate and I could clearly tell he had genuine concern for my well-being. I do not like to meet or visit new doctors, so I talked to many people about who I should see hoping that the problem would go away before I made an appointment. It just got worse but I did find someone who came highly recommended. I was offered a same day appointment but put it off for the next day. I checked in and was escorted immediately into the office. Two minutes later the doctor walked in. We talked, he examined the toe and within 20 minutes I was walking out problem fixed. The followup was quick and easy.
