It can be pricey, though, unless the products are on sale. NormalIy I would rate them much higher; however, today's visit left me wondering whether I should return. While the employee behind the meat and seafood counter provided helpful customer service, the other employees I encountered did not. One of the sale items that brought me in this day -- baguettes for 50 cents each. What a deal, I thought, as I later reasoned that the ad: "SAVE 50 cents each" -- meant the loaf did not cost a half dollar. As I walked through the bakery/deli aisle, I saw only one baguette in a large display basket. The price, $3.29 with 50 cents off if one also purchased a pound of chicken salad. The solo employee visible in the deli had his back to me as he was busy with a task. When I caught his attention, I asked him where I might find the baguettes. He said, "back there." i asked him if there were more. He said he didn't know and didn't offer to assist. As he returned to his task and with no eye contact, he added, "They must be sold out." I walked back to the lone baguette as another bakery/deli employee emerged. I asked her if it was on sale. She didn't know and instructed me to take it to checkout where the cashier would know. WRONG. He did know that customers would get 50 cents off if they also purchased chicken salad, so I brought up the ad on my phone displaying baguettes at 50 cents off with no chicken salad attached. Such a small issue, yet with a reputation as a top-notch store, one would think customers might encounter employees skilled in top-notch customer service and product knowledge.

I am happy to have EarthFare in West Knoxville. These days, there are not many true "health food /…read moreorganic" stores. That concept is dominated by Whole Foods and/or incorporated within regular grocery stores. All that said, EarthFare is a unique place and very convenient for those of us in this part of town. I really like the unique assortment of items here. Great produce, bakery, meats, bulk nuts/snacks, and cheese. They also have some really good deals from time to time. Seriously, you can actually find a few bargains here. The prepared food is good too. But, the hot bar is inconsistent. Hard to know when they'll have food or if it'll be good. They could easily improve on this. Same with the yogurt selection -- it's pretty sparse. Overall: Good local/regional healthy grocery store. I recommend giving them a try.

They have a great variety of organic and "healthier for you" options and are very friendly, and I trust a lot of their products and ingredients. The only downside is that I absolutely hate to go through self checkout. They seem to never have somebody to run the regular register when I am there, so inevitably, I have to go through self checkout, which is one of the most painful experiences I can imagine- especially if you buy a lot of produce and have to search for every item and weigh it. I wish that they would do something to remedy this issue. Today I got my grocery shopping done in probably 15 minutes and then spent probably 20 minutes at the freaking self checkout trying to enter all the codes while the manager sat there and smiled and watched me. It was so embarrassingly painful for me and such a huge waste of time, not to mention very difficult to balance bagging and sorting everything in that small space Maybe this is just a me problem, but there are still people who want to use the regular lane checkout. I love you Sprouts, but please get somebody to work a normal register for us millennials who don't want to use the self checkout, I'm literally begging you.

Teriyaki bowl was fresh, hot, and good! Probably the best I have had at a Whole Foods in quite some time. Parking was ample at this location and boy did they need it when I visited. The lot was packed and it was wall to wall people inside at this location. Everything looked full and fresh and well presented throughout. It was nice to visit this location. It's kind of hard to see from the interstate. So don't miss pulling off here if you are in town..

Pushy people at the check out line acting like I was in there way - even though my transaction was not completed yet and I was trying to get my bags. And the in a rush young people fulfilling Amazon Orders for Prime or trying to stock the shelves - I can't tell you how many times I have been treated as is I was an impediment to what they are trying to do even though I am a paying customer trying to navigate my way through the store. it gets to me sometimes. There are too many people trying to shop in this store for the size of it. Too many people "In a Rush" to get on with their lives. I do feel like I am back up in the North East sometimes when I go there. The best times to shop are during Tennessee Game Days or on a Tuesday night of all things. I go there because they do have things that other markets in the area do not have - fruits, vegetables, organic products. I do like the fish market guys. I do like certain cashiers and try to always go to them. I do like being able to find certain products there that I cannot find anywhere else - . I do like their supplements. There are things I do like. But the whole Prime thing (order fufillment) has put a huge black mark by the shopping experience. They really need to train their restocking people to be mindful of the customers and to be a little nicer while they do it. But between trying not to get run over in the parking lot when I am trying to get into the store and not getting run over while I am in the store by the oh so many busy people in there, it has gotten to where my stress levels goes straight up when I shop there. What I will do is try to go during off hours, and I do try to do that. But this is a pattern. My opinion is that for the amount of customers they have and the amount of order fufilment they do - the store probably needs to be twice as big as it is. I gave them three stars - but like I said - it is always a stressful experience for me.

I did find the prices high, if not unexpectedly so in most cases. I did find strange variation in sale items; some were substantial discounts, while in another case I saw a roughly $8 item "on sale" for twenty cents off, which seems bordering on a sort of unethical deception. The selection of produce was not huge but looked nice; this being Knoxville they had more meat than plants it seemed. Various natural and organic brands popped up. I always try to support the local businesses and I got a few things. This does seem to have a co-op structure so locals who really want to be in regularly might consider buying in.

Huge fan of this Happy Holler staple. Has such a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free,…read moredairy-free, and straight from the local farm/vendor goods. The best part, the price is pretty competitive with grocery stores in the area. There is a hot/cold bar to grab lunch and sit in the indoor dining area or outside on their shaded patio. They also have a huge variety of grab-and-go pastas, wraps, salads, and sandwiches and a coffee bar with all the fixin's. The above is all awesome, but I head in here for the bulk items. Have a small amount of a rarely-used spice needed for a recipe? CHECK. Want to grind some fresh almond butter or coffee? GOTCHA COVERED. Dried fruits? YUP! (dried papaya are my family fave). Variety of healthy granolas, grains, and baking items in bulk, too. There is easy parking with their own little lot, friendly service, a discount membership program ($25 per year), and a punch card discount when you use reusable bags. Can't wait to come back.
