Some old magazines and a tv, seating for 8 in the waiting room. I prefer her office in Natick, Complete Pain Care, as its a bit more updated than Marlborough (I scheduled Marlborough out of convenience). The shots I get in my lumbar area from Dr. Pearl are relatively painless...a testament to her experience. On my last visit, I noticed a sign that said they take Discover, MC, Visa and AMEX. I gave the receptionist my AMEX and was told that they don't take it. I pointed to the sign and she apologized and said she was aware of it. I didn't want to point out that maybe they should take it down.

I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. I had in mind nasal Imitrex as pill form is useless if you get nauseous & vomit. Student physician says pill form will save me money. I have private health insurance with drug coverage. Student physician needs authorization from MD, who says Imitrex in a pill is useless for those with nausea & vomiting & gives me the nasal spray I want. On another occasion a MD who consulted with my 10 year old recommended a decongestant. Again was offered help for my pocketbook which was not only not requested but didn't work. Also physician's directions for medication didn't match Pharmacist's. Half a century on the planet & any other practice has student physicians they ask, "Would you mind being seen by Student Doctor X today?" and I always give consent. Would it be too much to ask UMass to do the same? At this rate UMass may be losing me as a patient.

I'm newly retired and have just started on a Medicare Advantage Plan. Unfortunately, CRMA only takes Tufts Medicare Preferred advantage plan. That's the only one. That stinks. It makes me wonder if they really want to service Medicare patients. I had researched the Medicare Advantage options, and for me the Tufts plan didn't cut it. I am an established patient with several specialists in the Mass General Brigham network. All of them took the Mass General Brigham Medicare Advantage plan. It was only my PCP who did not. Several of my specialists did not take Tufts Medicare Preferred. I was faced with having to find a new PCP and keep all of my specialists, or to keep my PCP and a couple of my specialists. Changing doctors is a royal pain, and getting a first appointment seems to typically take a year. My medical situation is that would not work for me. I had selected my PCP at CRMA, because they are part of the Mass General Brigham network. If they were not, I wouldn't have gone there. One frustration with CRMA was with lab work. Patients at CRMA HAVE to use their office. I once tried to use a Mass General Brigham lab. They cannot see the lab orders from a CRMA doctor. I am guessing that CRMA is trying to keep revenues from lab testing. Just a guess.
