Upon first walking in, we were immediately impressed with the lobby space, and the polite staff behind the desk. Their whole set up is so kid friendly. There is so much to do and see in the waiting room & back in the halls and exam rooms that the kiddos are excited from the get go. There's even a therapy dog that comes in sometimes! Definitely made for kids to enjoy and feel comfortable and safe. The dental assistants/hygienists are obviously very experienced and great with the kids. They continue to make my daughter's entire dental experience a delight at every appointment. After expressing our concerns regarding my daughter's oral health at one of our appointments, Dr Elizabeth came up with a care plan tailored for her and sat me down in a private office to discuss. I think more doctors should do that, instead of speaking about the kids' teeth in front of them and creating anxiety. This was the best way to discuss oral care with parents without interruptions, in my opinion, and I appreciated it. Based on our experience here, I highly recommend The Kids Dentist to all area parents with little kids.

I have had several negative experiences at the Kid's Dentist over the last four years. My initial…read moreappointment was with my 10 month old daughter after she fell and chipped her tooth. They told me I should pay better attention to her to stop her from falling and causing potential damage (hello, have you met babies/toddlers?) The experience was very shame-y. They showed me how to brush her teeth on a doll as if I was not capable of understanding and not already doing so. They tried to separate us which I did not appreciate as she as so young at the time and this was her very first dentist experience. The entire appointment annoyed me and made me feel as though I was spoken down to. This was in 2022. In 2024, my daughter had a rare dental emergency. Some of her teeth did not properly develop in utero leading to dental abscess. She was hospitalized at Children's for 2 nights and I needed to be seen by a dentist quickly to plan further treatment. I reached out to every pediatric dentist in the area and hesitantly went back to the Kid's Dentist after the owner, Dr. Fischer, (now former, as he retired within the few months of me speaking to him) assured me that they were specialized and able to handle this case. I was seen by a dentist (Dr. Goodell - also no longer there) promptly and felt good moving forward. Our daughter had an extraction surgery and I scheduled a follow up appointment at The Kid's Dentist. Sitting at that follow up appointment, we saw a NEW dentist. Apparently, in that brief month, Dr. Goodell had left and Dr. Fischer had handed over the keys to the practice upon retiring. The dentist we saw was not familiar with the case and did not understand our desire to have a follow up appointment. I wrote the practice an email expressing my concern that Dr. Lizzy (our new provider unbeknownst to me) did not seem to have an understanding of our case nor a plan to move forward. She called me, apologized for her lack of preparedness, and assured me that she could handle it moving forward. I have since learned she is now moving - not from the Kid's Dentist office itself, but through the grapevine. This morning, my appointment for my other two children that was supposed to take place in less than 2 weeks was cancelled with no explanation other than the office would be closed that morning. There was no apology, I was just told to reschedule ASAP. Upon attempting to reschedule "ASAP" it did not seem that they had many times available nor a creative solution to help us get seen within our every 6 month time frame. Enough is enough. I rarely write reviews, let alone bad ones, but my entire time with the Kid's Dentist Mequon has been a headache. They're unprofessional, uncommunicative, and unprepared. I know they have received a plethora of good reviews in the past, but my understanding is that things have gone downhill since Dr. Fischer's retirement and I am not longer interested in having my children be along for the ride.

Not the case when he sees Dr. Frady. Our pediatrician has asked out loud what her secret is! The office is perfect for kids of all ages. There's a TV in the waiting room as well as a play area. The kids can watch a movie on an iPad while they're tipped back having their teeth cleaned. There are toys to play with while waiting for x-ray results and the kids get a token for the toy machine after their appointment. Significant to me is that you can go back in the exam room with your child. There are some pediatric dentists who make it a rule that parents must stay in the waiting room. Most importantly, Dr. Frady and her team truly seem to love children! I make no secret of the fact that I think my son has the best dentist ever!

What a fun and inviting entry way with Legos and toys all around and every staff member was so friendly! Dr. Jadin was FANTASTIC - he was so patient and did a great job of explaining (yes, to toddlers ) what he was doing while he counted and brushed their teeth and sang songs! He gave us great information on teeth brushing, breaking pacifier and finger sucking habits, etc. as well! We couldn't have had a better first experience and know that our boys will love to see Dr. Jadin, his friendly staff, and the fun toys as they get older as well!

The first appointment was canceled because the surgery center said they never received paperwork from his primary doctor. However, his doctor and nurses told me the paperwork had been sent weeks earlier. I understand that phone calls may have been made, but I provided an email address on my son's paperwork, and I never received an email, text, voicemail, or other notification explaining that there was a problem that could result in his appointment being canceled. After the appointment was rescheduled, I again received no call, text, email, voicemail, or reminder. I had to reach out myself just to find out when and where my son's appointment was. The next morning, I was trying to figure everything out and had already sent my son to school, thinking I may have missed the appointment. I later realized the appointment was actually in the afternoon. By that point, I had spent the entire morning trying to sort out the situation and ultimately asked them to cancel. I understand that they have a cancellation policy, and I was respectful toward the employee I spoke with. What I don't feel was fair was how little communication and support I received leading up to the cancellation. What is most upsetting is that they now will not reschedule my son and instead want us to travel approximately two hours to Milwaukee for his appointments. When I asked about transferring the referral somewhere closer, I was told that I needed to find a provider myself. We were new clients, and I initially really liked the environment and felt hopeful about my son receiving care there. Unfortunately, after this experience, I feel dismissed, unwanted, and unsupported. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for reasonable communication and support when it comes to my child's healthcare. I truly hope management takes situations like this seriously, because families should not feel like they are being pushed away because of a situation that could have been prevented with better communication.
